We introduce modified generalized Wigner-Yanase-Dyson (MGWYD) skew information and modified weighted generalized Wigner-Yanase-Dyson (MWGWYD) skew information. By revisiting state-channel interaction based on MGWYD skew information, a family of coherence measures with respect to quantum channels is proposed. Furthermore, explicit analytical expressions of these coherence measures of qubit states are derived with respect to different quantum channels. We study the quantum information masking based on isometric linear operators that distribute the information encoded in pure states to the correlations in bipartite states. It is shown that a isometric linear operator can not mask any nonzero measure set of pure states. We present a geometric characterization of the maskable sets, and show that any maskable set must be on a spherical circle in certain Euclidean spaces. The monogamy relations satisfied by quantum correlation measures play important roles in quantum information processing. Generally they are given in summation form. In this note, we study monogamy relations in product form. We present product-form monogamy relations for Bell nonlocality for three-qubit and multi-qubit quantum systems. Entanglement of high-dimensional and multipartite quantum systems offer promising perspectives in quantum information processing. However, the characterization and measure of such kind of entanglement is of great challenge. Here we consider the overlaps between the maximal quantum mean values and the classical bound of the CHSH inequalities for pairwise-qubit states in two-dimensional subspaces. We show that the concurrence of a pure state in any high-dimensional multipartite system can be equivalently represented by these overlaps. Here we consider the projections of an arbitrary high-dimensional multipartite state to two-qubit states. We investigate the non-localities of these projected two-qubit sub-states by their violations of CHSH inequalities. From these violations, the overlaps between the maximal quantum mean values and the classical bound of the CHSH inequality, we show that the concurrence of a high-dimensional multipartite pure state can be exactly expressed by these overlaps. We further derive a lower bound of the concurrence for any quantum states, which is tight for pure states. The lower bound not only imposes restriction on the non-locality distributions among the pairwise qubit states, but also supplies a sufficient condition for distillation of bipartite entanglement. Effective criteria for detecting genuine tripartite entanglement and the lower bound of concurrence for genuine tripartite entanglement are also presented based on such non-localities., Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures

Unambiguous state discrimination of two mixed bipartite states via local operations and classical communications (LOCC) is studied and compared with the result of a scheme realized via global measurement. We show that the success probability of a global scheme for mixed-state discrimination can be achieved perfectly by the local scheme. In addition, we simulate this discrimination via a pair of pure entangled bipartite states. This simulation is perfect for local rather than global schemes due to the existence of entanglement and global coherence in the pure states. We also prove that LOCC protocol and the sequential state discrimination (SSD) can be interpreted in a unified view. We then hybridize the LOCC protocol with three protocols (SSD, reproducing and broadcasting) relying on classical communications. Such hybridizations extend the gaps between the optimal success probability of global and local schemes, which can be eliminated only for the SSD rather than the other two protocols.

We study the monogamy and polygamy relations related to quantum correlations for multipartite quantum systems. General monogamy relations are presented for the $\alpha$th $(0\leq\alpha \leq\gamma, \gamma\geq2)$ power of quantum correlation, and general polygamy relations are given for the $\beta$th $(\beta\geq \delta, 0\leq\delta\leq1)$ power of quantum correlation. These monogamy and polygamy inequalities are complementary to the existing ones with different parameter regions of $\alpha$ and $\beta$. Applying these results to specific quantum correlations, the corresponding new classes of monogamy and polygamy relations are obtained, which include the existing ones as special cases. We study the properties of coherence concurrence and present a physical explanation analogous to the coherence of assistance. We give an optimal pure state decomposition which attains the coherence concurrence for qubit states. We prove the additivity of coherence concurrence under direct sum operations in another way. Using these results, we calculate analytically the coherence concurrence for X states and show its optimal decompositions. Moreover, we show that the coherence concurrence is exactly twice the convex roof extended negativity of the Schmidt correlated states, thus establishing a direct relation between coherence concurrence and quantum entanglement.

We study the minimum time to implement an arbitrary two-qubit gate in two heteronuclear spins systems. We give a systematic characterization of two-qubit gates based on the invariants of local equivalence. The quantum gates are classified into four classes, and for each class the analytical formula of the minimum time to implement the quantum gates is explicitly presented. For given quantum gates, by calculating the corresponding invariants one easily obtains the classes to which the quantum gates belong. In particular, we analyze the effect of global phases on the minimum time to implement the gate. Our results present complete solutions to the optimal time problem in implementing an arbitrary two-qubit gate in two heteronuclear spins systems. We study the trade-off relations given by the l_1-norm coherence of general multipartite states. Explicit trade-off inequalities are derived with lower bounds given by the coherence of either bipartite or multipartite reduced density matrices. Separability is an important problem in theory of quantum entanglement. By using the Bloch representation of quantum states in terms of the Heisenberg-Weyl observable basis, we present a new separability criterion for bipartite quantum systems. We study the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) steering and present steerability criteria for arbitrary qubit-qudit (qudit-qubit) systems based on mutually unbiased measurements (MUMs) and general symmetric informationally complete measurements (general SIC-POVMs). Avoiding the usual complicated steering inequalities, these criteria can be more operational than some existing criteria and implemented experimentally. The quantum measurement incompatibility is a distinctive feature of quantum mechanics. We investigate the incompatibility of a set of general measurements and classify the incompatibility by the hierarchy of compatibilities of its subsets. By using the approach of adding noises to measurement operators we present a complete classification of the incompatibility of a given measurement assemblage with $n$ members. We study mutually unbiased bases (MUBs) in which all the bases are unextendible maximally entangled ones. We first present a necessary and sufficient condition of constructing a pair of MUBs in $C^2 \otimes C^4$. Based on this condition, an analytical and necessary condition for constructing MUBs is given. Moreover we illustrate our approach by some detailed examples in $C^2 \otimes C^4$. The results are generalized to $C^2 \otimes C^d$ $(d\geq 3)$ and a concrete example in $C^2 \otimes C^8$ is given., Comment: 14 pages

The entanglement witness is an important and experimentally applicable tool for entanglement detection. In this paper, we provide a nonlinear improvement of any entanglement witness for $2\otimes d$ quantum systems. Compared with any existing entanglement witness, the improved separability criterion only needs two more measurements on local observables. The symmetries play important roles in physical systems. We study the symmetries of a Hamiltonian system by investigating the asymmetry of the Hamiltonian with respect to certain algebras. We define the asymmetry of an operator with respect to an algebraic basis in terms of their commutators. Detailed analysis is given to the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{su}(2)$ and its $q$-deformation. The asymmetry of the $q$-deformed integrable spin chain models is calculated. The corresponding geometrical pictures with respect to such asymmetry is presented., Comment: 6 pages

Based on the nonincreasing property of quantum coherence via skew information under incoherent completely positive and trace-preserving maps, we propose a non-Markovianity measure for open quantum processes. As applications, by applying the proposed measure to some typical noisy channels, we find that it is equivalent to the three previous measures of non-Markovianity for phase damping and amplitude damping channels, i.e., the measures based on the quantum trace distance, dynamical divisibility, and quantum mutual information. For the random unitary channel, it is equivalent to the non-Markovianity measure based on $l_1$ norm of coherence for a class of output states and it is incompletely equivalent to the measure based on dynamical divisibility. We also use the modified Tsallis relative $\alpha$ entropy of coherence to detect the non-Markovianity of dynamics of quantum open systems, the results show that the modified Tsallis relative $\alpha$ entropy of coherence are more comfortable than the original Tsallis relative $\alpha$ entropy of coherence for small $\alpha$., Comment: 13 pages, 5 figures

In spite of enormous theoretical and experimental progresses in quantum uncertainty relations, the experimental investigation of most current, and universal formalism of uncertainty relations, namely majorization uncertainty relations (MURs), has not been implemented yet. A significant problem is that previous studies on the classification of MURs only focus on their mathematical expressions, while the physical difference between various forms remains unknown. First, we use a guessing game formalism to study the MURs, which helps us disclosing their physical nature, and distinguishing the essential differences of physical features between diverse forms of MURs. Second, we tighter the bounds of MURs in terms of flatness processes, or equivalently, in terms of majorization lattice. Incompatibility of quantum measurements is of fundamental importance in quantum mechanics. It is closely related to many nonclassical phenomena such as Bell nonlocality, quantum uncertainty relations, and quantum steering. We study the necessary and sufficient conditions of quantum compatibility for a given collection of $n$ measurements in $d$-dimensional space. From the compatibility criterion for two-qubit measurements, we compute the incompatibility probability of a pair of independent random measurements. For a pair of unbiased random qubit measurements, we derive that the incompatibility probability is exactly $\frac35$. Monogamy and polygamy are the most striking features of the quantum world. We investigate the monogamy and polygamy relations satisfied by all quantum correlation measures for arbitrary multipartite quantum states. By introducing residual quantum correlations, analytical polygamy inequalities are presented, which are shown to be tighter than the existing ones. Then, similar to polygamy relations, we obtain strong monogamy relations that are better than all the existing ones. Typical examples are presented for illustration.

We present a different kind of monogamy and polygamy relations based on concurrence and concurrence of assistance for multiqubit systems. By relabeling the subsystems associated with different weights, a smaller upper bound of the $\alpha$th ($0\leq\alpha\leq2$) power of concurrence for multiqubit states is obtained. We also present tighter monogamy relations satisfied by the $\alpha$th ($0\leq\alpha\leq2$) power of concurrence for $N$-qubit pure states under the partition $AB$ and $C_1 . . . C_{N-2}$, as well as under the partition $ABC_1$ and $C_2\cdots C_{N-2}$. Information transfer in generalized probabilistic theories (GPT) is an important problem. We have dealt with the problem based on repeatability postulate, which generalizes Zurek's result to the GPT framework [Phys. Lett. A \textbf{379} (2015) 2694]. A natural question arises: can we deduce the information transfer result under weaker assumptions? In this paper, we generalize Zurek's result to the framework of GPT using weak repeatability postulate. We show that if distinguishable information can be transferred from a physical system to a series of apparatuses under the weak repeatability postulate in GPT, then the initial states of the physical system must be completely distinguishable. We study entanglement witness and present a construction of entanglement witnesses in terms of the mutually unbiased measurements (MUMs). These witnesses include the entanglement witnesses constructed from mutually unbiased bases (MUBs) as a special case. Comparing with the dimension dependence of MUBs, the witnesses can be always constructed from a complete set of $d+1$ MUMs for any dimension $d$. We show that our witness can detect entanglement better than previous separability criterion given also by MUMs. And the approach can be experimentally implemented., Comment: 10 pages

We provide a characterization of multiqubit entanglement monogamy and polygamy constraints in terms of negativity. Using the square of convex-roof extended negativity (SCREN) and the Hamming weight of the binary vector related to the distribution of subsystems proposed in Kim (Phys Rev A 97: 012334, 2018), we provide a new class of monogamy inequalities of multiqubit entanglement based on the $\alpha$th power of SCREN for $\alpha\geq1$ and polygamy inequalities for $0\leq\alpha\leq1$ in terms of squared convex-roof extended negativity of assistance (SCRENoA). For the case $\alpha<0$, we give the corresponding polygamy and monogamy relations for SCREN and SCRENoA, respectively. We study the trade-off relations satisfied by the genuine tripartite nonlocality in multipartite quantum systems. From the reduced three-qubit density matrices of the four-qubit generalized Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states and W states (4-qubit entangled state), we find that there exists a trade-off relation among the mean values of the Svetlichny operators associated with these reduced states. Namely, the genuine three-qubit nonlocalities are not independent. For four-qubit generalized GHZ states and W states, the summation of all their three-qubit maximal (squared) mean values of the Svetlichny operator has an upper bound. This bound is better than the one derived from the upper bounds of individual three-qubit mean values of the Svetlichny operator. We investigate genuine multipartite entanglement in general multipartite systems. Based on the norms of the correlation tensors of a multipartite state under various partitions, we present an analytical sufficient criterion for detecting the genuine four-partite entanglement. The results are generalized to arbitrary multipartite systems.

We study the problem of information masking through nonzero linear operators that distribute information encoded in single qubits to the correlations between two qubits. It is shown that a nonzero linear operator cannot mask any nonzero measure set of qubit states. We prove that the maximal maskable set of states on the Bloch sphere with respect to any masker is the ones on a spherical circle. Any states on a spherical circle on the Bloch sphere are maskable, which also proves the conjecture on maskable qubit states given by Modi et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 120, 230501 (2018)]. we provide explicitly operational unitary maskers for all maskable sets. Originated from the superposition principle in quantum mechanics, coherence has been extensively studied as a kind important resource in quantum information processing. We investigate the distinguishability of coherence-breaking channels with the help of quantum entanglement. By explicitly computing the minimal error probability of channel discrimination, it is shown that entanglement can enhance the capacity of coherence-breaking channel distinguishability with same types for some cases while cannot enhanced for some other cases. We study the relations between quantum coherence and quantum nonlocality, genuine quantum entanglement and genuine quantum nonlocality. We show that the coherence of a qubit state can be converted to the nonlocality of two-qubit states via incoherent operations. The results are also generalized to qudit case. We investigate the average coherence with respect to a complete set of complementary measurements. By using a Wigner-Yanase skew information-based coherence measure introduced in [Phys. Rev. We introduce a quantity called the coherence of purification which can be a measure of total quantumness for a single system. We prove that coherence of purification is always more than the coherence of the system. For a pure state, the coherence of purification is same as the relative entropy of coherence. Furthermore, we show that the difference in the coherence of purification of a quantum state before and after the dephasing can capture residual quantumness. In addition, we show that the entanglement of purification that can be created by incoherent operation between two subsystems is upper bounded by the coherence of purification of the original system. We show that the coherence of purification is a resource in quantum state discrimination process. We propose tensor-network compressed sensing (TNCS) by combining the ideas of compressed sensing, tensor network (TN), and machine learning, which permits novel and efficient quantum communications of realistic data. The strategy is to use the unsupervised TN machine learning algorithm to obtain the entangled state $|\Psi \rangle$ that describes the probability distribution of a huge amount of classical information considered to be communicated. To transfer a specific piece of information with $|\Psi \rangle$, our proposal is to encode such information in the separable state with the minimal distance to the measured state $|\Phi \rangle$ that is obtained by partially measuring on $|\Psi \rangle$ in a designed way. To this end, a measuring protocol analogous to the compressed sensing with neural-network machine learning is suggested, where the measurements are designed to minimize uncertainty of information from the probability distribution given by $|\Phi \rangle$. In this way, those who have $|\Phi \rangle$ can reliably access the information by simply measuring on $|\Phi \rangle$. We propose q-sparsity to characterize the sparsity of quantum states and the efficiency of the quantum communications by TNCS. The high q-sparsity is essentially due to the fact that the TN states describing nicely the probability distribution obey the area law of entanglement entropy. Testing on realistic datasets (hand-written digits and fashion images), TNCS is shown to possess high efficiency and accuracy, where the security of communications is guaranteed by the fundamental quantum principles., Comment: 5+6 pages, 3+6 figures. Entanglement is a key issue in the quantum physics which gives rise to resources for achieving tasks that are not possible within the realm of classical physics. Quantum entanglement varies with the evolution of the quantum systems. It is of significance to investigate the entanglement dynamics in terms of quantum channels. We study the entanglement-breaking channels and present the necessary and sufficient conditions for a quantum channel to an entanglement-breaking one for qubit systems. Furthermore, a concept of strong entanglement-breaking channel is introduced. The amendment of entanglement-breaking channels is also studied.

We investigate quantum information masking for arbitrary dimensional quantum states. We show that mutually orthogonal quantum states can always be served for deterministic masking of quantum information. We further construct a probabilistic masking machine for linearly independent states. It is shown that a set of d dimensional states, $\{ |a_1 \rangle_A, |t a_2 \rangle_A, \dots, |a_n \rangle_A \}$, $n \leq d$, can be probabilistically masked by a general unitary-reduction operation if they are linearly independent.
