Abstract

Three-dimensional micromagnetic simulations of current-driven magnetization dynamics are performed in nanoscale exchange biased spin vales by considering back action of spin-transfer torque on the pinned layer, nonlinear damping and random thermal torques. The studies have shown that at a nonzero temperature and a subcritical current, the magnetization dynamics has displayed nonstationary behavior in which two independent persistent oscillatory modes are excited.

A numerical experiment is performed in the spin valve by using micromagnetic simulations. The studies have shown that the switching time and the switching mechanism are independent of those parameters for nanosecond reversal processes.

Abstract

The micromagnetic analysis of the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the frequency spectra of the dc driven self-oscillations is described. The narrow widths are produced by the nonuniformities of the magnetization and they are computed at zero temperature that has marked a limit for the spectral purity of the self-oscillations in those nanomagnets.

The influence of the Oersted field on the magnetization dynamics of spin-transfer microwave oscillators are examined within a micromagnetic framework. The results have shown that the Oersted field has yielded spatial asymmetries in the magnetization configuration.

Full micromagnetic modeling is used to analyze the spin-transfer-driven ferromagnetic resonance in individual ellipsoidal PyCu nanomagnets. This method has helped in finding the dependence of the normal mode frequency on the dc and the external field together with a comparison of the normal modes induced by a microwave current.

Fast switching processes using the spin torque model (STM) based on a 3D micromagnetic model, which include the effect of the spin-polarized current (SPC) is simulated. For the two structures studied and for the simulated currents at zero temperature, it is found that the inversion of magnetization occurs by means of a nucleation process, which depend on the value of the current.

Abstract

The in-plane rotation of magnetic stripe domains in a 65-nm magnetostrictive Fe0.8Ga0.2 epitaxial film was investigated combining magnetic forcemicroscopy, vibration samplemagnetometry, and x-ray resonant magnetic scattering measurements.We analyzed the behavior of the stripe pattern under the application of a bias magnetic field along the in-plane direction perpendicular to the stripe axis, and made a comparison with the analogous behavior at remanence. The experimental results have been explained by means of micromagnetic simulations, supported by energy balance considerations. Fields smaller than ~400 Oe do not induce any stripe rotation; rather, a deformation of the closure domains pattern was evidenced. Larger fields produce a sudden rotation of the stripe structure.
