The nitrogen‐vacancy color center in diamond is one of the important systems in the fast‐growing field of sensing. This color center is used in both high‐resolution and high‐sensitivity sensors. However, techniques for the quick and efficient formation of NV centers are still in the development stage. Herein, a study on the influence of the electron irradiation dose on the conversion of substitutional nitrogen into NV− centers is presented. The study is done on diamonds that are highly enriched with nitrogen (≈100 ppm), which, on one hand, should maximize the effect of irradiation, and, on other hand, be of interest for high‐sensitivity magnetometers. The maximum achieved conversion efficiency is as high as 37% ± 3.7%, with no observed saturation on the electron dose even with the simplest annealing procedure. The measurements of the corresponding dephasing time made it possible to make a theoretical estimate for the shot‐noise‐limited magnetic field sensitivity per unit volume of diamond to be roughly ≈1×10−13T [Hz⋅mm−3]−1. The necessary conditions of local simulation of the aerodynamic heating in subsonic high-enthalpy air jets on the megawatt VGU-3 HF-plasmatron are determined. The domain in the "enthalpy-stagnation pressure" coordinates and, respectively, the boundaries of the velocity and the altitude of entry into the atmosphere are found for a body with the nose bluntness radius of 1 m for which these conditions can be implemented when using models with the effective radius of 10–45 mm. The experimental data confirming the conclusions of theory that the range of heat fluxes to the catalytic surface of a standard water-cooled model on the VGU-3 facility is significantly extended as compared with the VGU-4 100 kW HF-plasmatron are given. Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) along with thermal decomposition of monosilane (SiH4) in a fluidized bed of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) is used to prepare MWCNT-Si composites containing silicon nanoparticles deposited on the nanotube surfaces. The structure of obtained Si nanoparticles in composites based on MWCNTs with different average diameters is studied by TEM, SEM, XRD, Raman spectroscopy, and FTIR spectroscopy of diffuse reflection. The size of Si particles varies from 3 nm to 45 nm and increases together with the MWCNT diameter. The major part of precipitated silica in the nanoparticles occurs in the amorphous state with small (below 3 nm in size) inclusions of nanocrystalline silicon. Specific discharge capacity of prepared composites used as the anode material for lithium-ion batteries is estimated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A total of 112 Nagaybaks, a Turkic ethnoconfessional group living mainly in the Nagaybak district of the Chelyabinsk Region of Russian South Urals, were genotyped for HLA-A, -B, -DRB1, -DQA1 and -DQB1 loci using PCR-SSP (low-resolution) and HLA-A29 (high-resolution). All loci were in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (all p values >0.1 thus showing no locus-level deviations. The genotype data are available in the Allele Frequencies Net Database under the population name ''Russia, South Ural, Chelyabinsk Region, Nagaybaks" and the identifier AFND0003397., (Copyright © 2017. Objective: To evaluate different treatment schemes for post stroke patients with neglect syndrome (NS)., Material and Methods: We studied management rules for patients with NS and the effect of ceraxon (citicoline) on the functional rehabilitation and removal of the neglect syndrome. We analyzed treatment results of 120 stroke patients. The functional rehabilitation was followed up using Barthel, Lindmark and Merton and Sutton scales, cognitive functions were assessed with the MMSE scale and the battery of frontal dysfunction, psychoemotional condition with the Beck Depression Questionnaire. Moreover, treatment efficacy has been evaluated by the absence of NS signs., Results and Conclusion: Maintenance of management rules and use of ceraxon improved the functional rehabilitation of stroke patients with NS.

Objective: To analyze the effect of cytoflavin on neurological functions, the level of independence in daily living tasks, psychoemotional condition and quality of life in poststroke patients., Material and Methods: We have analyzed the results of treatment of 1450 stroke patients. Half of the patients received cytoflavin, and the other was treated without this drug. The functional rehabilitation was followed up using Barthel, Lindmark, Scandinavian and Merton and Sutton scales, psychoemotional condition was assessed with the Beck Depression Questionnaire and the Wakefield Depression Scale, quality of life - with the Sickness Impact Profile., Results and Conclusion: Cytoflavin improved the recovery of neurological functions and social adaptation, normalized the psychoemotional condition and increased quality of life of poststroke patients.

The aim of present investigation is research of influence of vasoactive and neurometabolic medicines in stroke patients's rehabilitation. We had analysed 280 stroke patients. The degree of rehabilitation had been defined with the help of Barthel and Lindmark scales. The degree of cognitive functions's rehabilitation had been defined with the help of MMSE scale. For every medicine coefficients of efficiency were calculated. As the result of the present investigation the medicine's efficiency was found out. The most efficient medicines in ischaemic stroke patients's rehabilitation among the investigated ones are the medicines which activate the neuronal metabolism, first of all,--ceraxon (citicoline).

Mitochondrial NADH:ubiquinone-reductase (Complex I) catalyzes proton translocation into inside-out submitochondrial particles. Here we describe a method for determining the stoichiometric ratio H+/2e- (n) for the coupled reaction of NADH oxidation by the quinone acceptors. Comparison of the initial rates of NADH oxidation and alkalinization of the surrounding medium after addition of small amounts of NADH to coupled particles in the presence of Q1 gives the value of n = 4. Thermally induced deactivation of Complex I [1, 2] results in complete inhibition of the NADH oxidase reaction but only partial inhibition of the NADH:Q1-reductase reaction. N-Ethylmaleimide (NEM) prevents reactivation and thus completely blocks the thermally deactivated enzyme. The residual NADH:Q1-reductase activity of the deactivated, NEM-treated enzyme is shown to be coupled with the transmembraneous proton translocation (n = 4). Thus, thermally induced deactivation of Complex I as well as specific inhibitors of the endogenous ubiquinone reduction (rotenone, piericidin A) do not inhibit the proton translocating activity of the enzyme.

Tightly coupled bovine heart submitochondrial particles treated to activate complex I and to block ubiquinol oxidation were capable of rapid uncoupler-sensitive inside-directed proton translocation when a limited amount of NADH was oxidized by the exogenous ubiquinone homologue Q1. External alkalization, internal acidification and NADH oxidation were followed by the rapidly responding (t1/2 < or = 1 s) spectrophotometric technique. Quantitation of the initial rates of NADH oxidation and external H+ decrease resulted in a stoichiometric ratio of 4 H+ vectorially translocated per 1 NADH oxidized at pH 8.0. ADP-ribose, a competitive inhibitor of the NADH binding site decreased the rates of proton translocation and NADH oxidation without affecting -->H+/2e- stoichiometry. Rotenone, piericidin and thermal deactivation of complex I completely prevented NADH-induced proton translocation in the NADH-endogenous ubiquinone reductase reaction. NADH-exogenous Q1 reductase activity was only partially prevented by rotenone. The residual rotenone- (or piericidin-) insensitive NADH-exogenous Q1 reductase activity was found to be coupled with vectorial uncoupler-sensitive proton translocation showing the same -->H+/2e- stoichiometry of 4. It is concluded that the transfer of two electrons from NADH to the Q1-reactive intermediate located before the rotenone-sensitive step is coupled with translocation of 4 H+.
