In daily activities, hospitals, as one of the important health care unit, generate both medical solid waste and non-medical solid waste. The occurrence of medical solid waste could be from the results of treatment activities, such as, in the treatment room for a hospital inpatient, general clinic, a dental clinic, a mother and child clinic, laboratories and pharmacies. Most of the medical solid waste contains infectious and hazardous materials. Therefore it should be managed properly, otherwise it could be a source of new infectious for the community around the hospital as well as for health workers themselves. Efforts surveillance of various environmental factors need to be applied in accordance with the principles of sanitation focuses on environmental cleanliness. One of the efforts that need to be done in improving the quality of the environment is to undertake waste management activities, because with proper waste management is the most important in order to achieve an optimal degree of human health. Health development in Indonesian aims to achieve a future in which the Indonesian people live in a healthy environment, its people behave clean and healthy, able to reach quality health services, fair and equitable, so as to have optimal health status, health development paradigm anchored to the healthy. The healthy condition of the individual and society can be influenced by the environment. Poor environmental quality is a cause of various health problems. Efforts surveillance of various environmental factors need to be applied in accordance with the principles of sanitation focuses on environmental cleanliness. This paper proposes a model for managing the medical solid waste in hospitals in Medan city, in order to create healthy environment around hospitals.

The burden of pollution due to industrial waste, ports, community activities and marine intrusion further exacerbate environmental quality. This pollution causes drinking water sources polluted. This study aims to analyze Pb contamination in marine, and drinking water from wellbores and measure the magnitude of health risks. This is cross sectional study and quantitative research that analyzes Pb concentrations in marine and drinking water. The sample are 250 people who live in coastal area and drink water from wellbores. Water samples were examined in certified laboratories by using Atomic Absorbstion Spectrophotometer method, health risk was analyzed by the environmental health risk (EHRA) method. Pb concentrations average in marine is 52 μgl-1 . Pb concentration from 92 samples of drinking water average is 4.5 μgl-1 and range 5.4 – 26.2 μgl-1. The amount of health risk RQ

Hospital is a very important institution to provide health care for people. It is not surprising that nowadays the people's demands for hospital is increasing.. However, due to the rising cost of healthcare services, hospitals need to consider efficiencies in order to overcome these two problems. This paper deals with an integrated strategy of staff capacity management and bed allocation planning to tackle these problems. Mathematically, the strategy can be modeled as an integer linear programming problem. We solve the model using a direct neighborhood search approach, based on the notion of superbasic variables.

This paper review a model developed to minimize production costs on bottled water production planning through stochastic optimization. As we know, that planning a management means to achieve the goal that have been applied, since each management level in the organization need a planning activities. The built models is a two-stage stochastic models that aims to minimize the cost on production of bottled water by observing that during the production process, neither interfernce nor vice versa occurs. The models were develop to minimaze production cost, assuming the availability of packing raw materials used considered to meet for each kind of bottles. The minimum cost for each kind production of bottled water are expressed in the expectation of each production with a scenario probability. The probability of uncertainly is a representation of the number of productions and the timing of power supply interruption. This is to ensure that the number of interruption that occur does not exceed the limit of the contract agreement that has been made by the company with power suppliers.

Hazardous and toxic waste resulting from activities at most hospitals contain various elements of medical solid waste ranging from heavy metals that have the nature of accumulative toxic which are harmful to human health.Medical waste in the form of gas, liquid or solid generally include the category or the nature of the hazard and toxicity waste. The operational in activities of the hospital aims to improve the health and well-being, but it also produces waste as an environmental pollutant waters, soil and gas.From the description of the background of the above in mind that the management of solid waste pollution control medical hospital, is one of the fundamental problems in the city of Medan and application supervision is the main business licensing and control alternatives in accordance with applicable regulations.

The use of Partical Swarm Optimization Algorithm in this research is to optimize the feature weights on the Voting Feature Interval 5 algorithm so that we can find the model of using PSO algorithm with VFI 5. Optimization of feature weight on Diabetes or Dyspesia data is considered important because it is very closely related to the livelihood of many people, so if there is any inaccuracy in determining the most dominant feature weight in the data will cause death.Increased accuracy by using PSO Algorithm ie fold 1 from 92.31% to 96.15% increase accuracy of 3.8%, accuracy of fold 2 on Algorithm VFI5 of 92.52% as well as generated on PSO Algorithm means accuracy fixed, then in fold 3 increase accuracy of 85.19% Increased to 96.29% Accuracy increased by 11%. The total accuracy of all three trials increased by 14%. In general the Partical Swarm Optimization algorithm has succeeded in increasing the accuracy to several fold, therefore it can be concluded the PSO algorithm is well used in optimizing the VFI5 Classification Algorithm.

The higher education system in Indonesia can be considered not only as an important source of developing knowledge in the country, but also could create positive living conditions for the country. Therefore it is not surprising that enrollments in higher education continue to expand. However, the implication of this situation, the Indonesian government is necessarily to support more funds. In the interest of accountability, it is essential to measure the efficiency for this higher institution. Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a method to evaluate the technical efficiency of production units which have multiple input and output. The higher learning institution considered in this paper is Malikussaleh University located in Lhokseumawe, a city in Aceh province of Indonesia. This paper develops a method to evaluate efficiency for all departments in Malikussaleh University using DEA with bounded output. Accordingly, we present some important differences in efficiency of those departments. Finally we discuss the effort should be done by these departments in order to become efficient.

The heterogeneous vehicle routing problem (HVRP) is a variant of vehicle routing problem (VRP) which describes various types of vehicles with different capacity to serve a set of customers with known geographical locations. This paper considers the optimal service deliveries of meals of a catering company located in Medan City, Indonesia. Due to the road condition as well as traffic, it is necessary for the company to use different type of vehicle to fulfill customers demand in time. The HVRP incorporates time dependency of travel times on the particular time of the day. The objective is to minimize the sum of the costs of travelling and elapsed time over the planning horizon. The problem can be modeled as a linear mixed integer program and we address a feasible neighbourhood search approach to solve the problem.

Hal ini membantu untuk melacak bagaimana hubungan antara objek data yang digunakan untuk mengukur kesamaan objek data. Hasil penelitian ini dapat menunjukkan bahwa Unified Relationship Matrix (URM) dapat digunakan untuk menyediakan data objek heterogen dan hubungan antara masing-masing objek data secara terpadu.

The purpose of this research was to analysis an association between Daun Sang and other vegetation in Resort Sei Betung, Gunung Leuser National Park. According to its conservation status, Daun Sang was including on vulnerable categories (VUD2) and its presence was limited, then the action to conserve this species in nature is very important and urgent. This species includes understorey palm, which is need to shade by other species. Purpossive sampling was used with 30 plots, sized 20 x 20 meters for Daun Sang and other vegetation at tree stage, 10 x 10 meters for other vegetation at pole stage, 5 x 5 meter for other vegetation at sapling stage and 2 x 2 meter for other vegetation at seedling stage. Analysis of vegetation was used to determine Importance Value Index, Diversity Index, Evennes Index and Richness Index. Then analysis of association was done with an interspesific association analysis, continued with Jaccard Index. The highest Importance Value Indexes for each stage of species were Aglaia edulis for seedlings and saplings, Shorea sp for poles and Shorea dealbata for trees. Diversity Index measured by Shannon Wienner Index was high (3.5-4.02), while the range of Evennes Index was 0.8-0.97 and the range of Species Richness Index was 9.04-14.43. There was an association between Daun Sang and other vegetation on seedlings and poles, which is not strong enough, and no specific association with particular species. This fact is an evidence that if there is forest disturbance, then the population of Daun Sang will be decreased.

In a production process of a poultry farm, the entire population of birds is kept constant at the manageable capacity. After intrusion of influenza virus, infected birds remain as a source of infection regardless of being alive or dead, unless they are completely removed. A mathematical model based on these factors is analysed to study time evolution of populations of susceptible birds and infected birds, and concentration of bird flu virus. This paper describes recent experience in tackling large nonlinear integer programming problems using the MINOS large-scale optimization software. A technique is presented for extending the constrained search approach used in MINOS to exploring integer-feasible solutions once a continuous optimal solution is obtained. Computational experience with this approach is described for two classes of problems: quadratic assignment problems and pipeline network design problems.
