In this experiment, a general purpose BP neural network (BP) based on genetic algorithm (GA) was developed for predicting fiber properties. The experiment is based on the breaking force of cotton fibers, and the controlled variable method is used for sampling test to collect 878 datasets containing four eigenvalues. The first 850 items of this dataset were then utilized to train the designed BP, and the remaining 28 items were evaluated for error. Next, the model is parameterized using a genetic algorithm to reduce the overall network size, thus optimizing the fit. Finally, the improved model was evaluated using the same dataset. The results were obtained: the MAPE was reduced from 10.94% to 3.7869%, the MAE was reduced from 0.39586 to 0.14584, and the MSE was reduced from 0.32161 to 0.05201. The results show that this GA-BP has better results for nonlinear fitting, and it can make a better correspondence to the outliers in the dataset, and also produces a smaller error in the fitting results, the Overall, the method is effective.

ABSTRACTThis study examines the impact of temperature and humidity on cotton fiber quality during initial processing. Conducted in a Xinjiang cotton ginning mill, we used the USTER HVI1000 to analyze five quality indices: upper half mean length, uniformity, short fiber index, tensile strength, and elongation. Results indicated that temperatures below 13°C increased fiber brittleness, moisture, and significantly reduced length and strength. Optimal conditions were observed at temperatures between 13°C to 20°C with normal humidity, where length and strength were maintained. Above 20°C, the dry environment led to a decrease in these indices. While higher temperatures and lower humidity helped remove impurities and lessen cotton knots, relative humidity below 45% increased static electricity and knots. Despite data limitations, this study moves towards identifying optimal temperature and humidity levels for improving cotton quality during initial processing, providing a theoretical foundation for future enhancements.

ABSTRACTThe most crucial variables that influence the characteristics and quality of cotton fibers during the cotton growth and ginning processes are temperature and moisture regains. Here the cotton fiber samples were generated with pre-treatment using a synergistic strategy of moisture regains and low temperatures, the morphology and structure of the fibers with different pre-treatments were analyzed by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray Photoelectron Spectrometer (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Carbon-13 Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometry (13C NMR). Further, the mechanical properties of the cotton fibers were evaluated using LLY-06E tensile. The results shown that, with 3 days of freezing in -18℃, the linear density variation of the cotton fiber samples reached maximum, and the surface of the fibers showed noticeable fractures, local holes, and folded damage. Moreover, the low temperature and high moisture regain caused the internal water molecules of the cotton fibers interact in complex ways, altering the intermolecular forces but without changing the chemical composition. This research expands the temperature field of cotton fibers, particularly in the ginning process, by investigating the damage to the mechanical characteristics of cotton fibers caused by the combined effect of low temperature and moisture regain.

ABSTRACTCotton is a crucial raw material for the textile industry, and the quality of its initial product greatly affects the properties of the yarn and fabric. However, the impact of low temperature and moisture regain during ginning on the mechanical properties has not been extensively studied. This paper aims to address this gap by designing and analyzing a strategy for evaluating the mechanical properties of machine-harvested cotton fibers pretreated at different moisture regain levels and temperatures. Regression models for the relationship between temperature and mechanical properties under different moisture regain conditions were also established, showing good consistency. Additionally, the study examines the mechanical damage mechanism of cotton fibers during the harvesting and ginning process by observing the fiber fracture interface of different samples. Especially, those with low moisture regain exhibit a V-type fracture, while those with high moisture regain display significant fibrils exposed on the fiber body, resulting in a tearing morphology at the fracture interface. In conclusion, this study provides theoretical support for optimizing the harvesting process in cotton processing enterprises in terms of moisture regain and low temperature and makes a significant toward sustainable cotton fiber harvesting and processing technology.

Bioimpedance analysis (BIA)–body composition monitoring (BCM) has been used to evaluate the hydration and nutritional status of adults and children on dialysis. However, its clinical application still has challenges, so further exploration is valuable. We used BIA-BCM to evaluate the hydration and nutritional status of children undergoing chronic peritoneal dialysis from 1 July 2021 to 31 December 2022 in the Children’s Hospital of Fudan University to explore the clinical value of this method. A total of 84 children on chronic peritoneal dialysis (PD) were included. In the PD group, 16 (19.05%) and 31 (36.90%) had mild and severe overhydration (OH), respectively; 41.27% (26/63) had a low lean tissue index (LTI). In the PD group, patients with relative OH (Re-OH) > 5.6% had significantly higher systolic blood pressure (SBP) and SBP z score (SBPz). Patients with LTI > 12% had significantly higher body mass index (BMI) and BMI z score (BMIz). Canonical correlation analysis indicated a linear relationship (ρ = 0.708) between BIA-BCM hydration and the clinical hydration indicator and a linear relationship (ρ = 0.995) between the BIA-BCM nutritional indicator and the clinical nutritional indicator. A total of 56% of children on chronic peritoneal dialysis had OH, and 41% had a low LTI. In PD patients, SBP and SBPz were correlated with BIA-BCM Re-OH, and BMI and BMIz were correlated with BIA-BCM LTI. BIA-BCM indicators have good clinical value in evaluating hydration and nutrition.

Abstract Proteinuria, an indication of kidney disease, is caused by the malfunction of podocytes, which play a key role in maintaining glomerular filtration. Angiopoietin-like 3 (ANGPTL3) has been documented to have a cell-autonomous involvement in podocytes, and deletion of Angptl3 in podocytes reduced proteinuria in adriamycin-induced nephropathy. Here, we developed a monoclonal antibody (mAb) against ANGPTL3 to investigate its effects on podocyte injury in an ADR nephropathy mouse model and puromycin (PAN) induced podocyte damage in vitro. The mAb against the human ANGPTL3-FLD sequence (5E5F6) inhibited the binding of ANGPTL3-FLD to integrin β3. Treatment with the 5E5F6 mAb in ADR nephropathy mice mitigated proteinuria and led to a significant decline in podocyte apoptosis, reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and mitochondrial fragmentation. In PAN-induced podocyte damage in vitro, the 5E5F6 mAb blocked the ANPGPLT3-mediated activation of integrin αvβ3 and Rac1, which regulated the mitochondrial homeostasis. Altogether, anti-ANGPLT3-FLD mAb attenuates proteinuria and podocyte lesions in ADR mice models, as well as PAN-induced podocyte damage, in part through regulating mitochondrial functions. Our study provides a therapeutic approach for targeting ANGPTL3 in proteinuric kidney disease.

The supercritical carbon dioxide (S–CO2) Brayton cycle is an important energy conversion technology for the fourth generation of nuclear energy. Since the printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE) used in the S–CO2 Brayton cycle has narrow channels, Rayleigh-Bénard (RB) convection is likely to exist in the tiny channels. However, there are very few studies on RB convection in supercritical fluids. Current research on RB convection mainly focuses on conventional fluids such as water and air that meet the Boussinesq assumption. It is necessary to study non-Boussinesq fluids. PRB convection refers to RB convection that is affected by horizontal incoming flow. In this paper, the computational fluid dynamics simulation method is used to study the PRB convection phenomenon of non-Boussinesq fluid-supercritical carbon dioxide. The result shows that the inlet Reynolds number (Re) of the horizontal incoming flow significantly affects the PRB convection. When the inlet Re remains unchanged, with the increase of Rayleigh number (Ra), the steady-state convective pattern of the fluid layer is shown in order: horizontal flow, local traveling wave, traveling wave convection. If Ra remains unchanged, as the inlet Re increases, three convection patterns of traveling wave convection, local traveling wave, and horizontal flow will appear in sequence. To characterize the relationship between traveling wave convection and horizontal incoming flow, this paper proposes the relationship between critical Reynolds number and relative Rayleigh number (r).

The effect of Sc on microstructure and mechanical properties of A357 alloy was investigated using sand molds and metal molds. The results showed that the eutectic Si in A357-0.5Sc alloy showed finer fibrous structure and smaller secondary dendrite spacing than that of A357 alloy in metal mold casting; a significant degeneration of secondary and tertiary dendrites has happened during solidification in A357-0.5Sc alloy using sand molds. UTS and YS of A357-0.5Sc alloy were higher than those of A357 Alloy in both metal molds and sand molds. In metal mold casting, the elongation of A357-0.5Sc alloy was higher than that of A357 alloy. In sand casting, the elongation of A357 and A357-0.5Sc alloys is almost equal. The YS of A357-0.5Sc alloy in sand mold is 7.5% higher than that of A357 alloy in metal mold, and the UTS and EI are almost equal. Taken together, the mechanical properties of A357-0.5Sc using in sand molds shows better than that of A357 using metal molds, which can improve mechanical properties in sand molds to meet the requirements of casting of complex parts in sand molds.The secondary dendrite of A357 and A357-0.5Sc alloys was obvious in metal mold casting. The main factor affecting the mechanical properties of the metal mold alloy was the secondary dendrite spacing. The addition of Sc would degrade the secondary and tertiary dendrites of A357 alloy in sand-casting. Moreover, the main factor affecting the mechanical properties of the sand-casting alloy was grain size.

Abstract. Background:. The screening of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) in patients with inflammatory diseases before revision arthroplasty remains uncertain. Serum C-reactive protein (CRP), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), plasma fibrinogen (FIB), monocyte/lymphocyte ratio, and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) can help screening PJI, but their values in patients with inflammatory diseases have not been determined. Methods:. Patients with inflammatory diseases who underwent revision hip or knee arthroplasty at West China Hospital, Sichuan University, from January 2008 to September 2020 were divided into infected and non-infected groups based on the 2013 International Consensus Meeting criteria. Sensitivity and specificity of the tested biomarkers for diagnosing infection were determined based on receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, and optimal cutoffs were determined based on the Youden index. The diagnostic ability of these biomarkers was re-assessed after combining them with each other. Results:. A total of 62 patients with inflammatory diseases were studied; of them 30 were infected. The area under the ROC curve was 0.813 for CRP, 0.638 for ESR, 0.795 for FIB, and 0.656 for NLR. The optimal predictive cutoff of CRP was 14.04 mg/L with a sensitivity of 86.2% and a specificity of 68.7%, while FIB had a sensitivity of 72.4% and a specificity of 81.2% with the optimal predictive cutoff of 4.04 g/L. The combinations of CRP with FIB produced a sensitivity of 86.2% and specificity of 78.1%. Conclusion:. CRP with a slightly higher predictive cutoff and FIB are useful for screening PJI in patients with inflammatory diseases, and the combination of CRP and FIB may further improve the diagnostic values. This paper studied the antibacterial effect and functional components of the extracellular secretions of a strain of Bacillus subtilis KC-WQ. The experiment found that KC-WQ had obvious antibacterial effect on Escherichia coli, Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica and Aeromonas hydrophila, among which it had the most significant antibacterial effect on Salmonella. On this basis, the acid precipitation method was used to separate the antibacterial components, and the structure was found through thin layer chromatography (TLC), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS). The antibacterial substances secreted by this strain were lipopeptides with a molecular weight distribution between 1030.5 and 1491.4 Da, mainly composed of Iturin, Surfactin and Fengycin, and the minimum inhibitory concentration was 0.8 mg/mL. The lipopeptide component still maintained a good antibacterial effect after heat treatment (105 ℃, 20 min). The response surface method was used to optimize the culture conditions of KC-WQ, and the best fermentation conditions were obtained: The initial pH was 6.0, the fermentation temperature was 36 ℃, the shaker speed was 208 r/min, and the predicted crude product yield was 1.311 g/L. Later verified by experiments, the actual yield was 1.236 g/L. The above results indicated that Bacillus subtilis KC-WQ had good antibacterial and processing properties, could be used as a good antibacterial ingredient, and had a good application prospect in the development of antibacterial and preservation materials in food industry.

Abstract In the last decade, the number of transcatheter heart valve replacement for severe heart valve disease has increased exponentially. Although the bioprosthetic artificial heart valve (BHV) has similar fluid dynamics performance to the original heart valve compared with mechanical heart valve so that there is no need to take long-term anticoagulant drugs to prevent thromboembolism, transcatheter BHV replacement are still at risk for thrombosis during the first few months according to the clinical data. However, the use of antithrombotic drugs can also increase the risk of bleeding. Therefore, it is particularly important to improve the anticoagulant properties for the BHV itself. In this work, a kind of non-glutaraldehyde cross-linked BHV material with excellent antithrombotic ability has been prepared from carboxylated oxazolidine treated porcine pericardium (consisting of collagen, elastin and glycoprotein) with the further graft of the anticoagulant heparin sodium via hydrophilic modified chitosan. Along with the similar mechanical properties and collagen stability comparable to the glutaraldehyde cross-linked porcine pericardium (PP), these functional non-glutaraldehyde cross-linked PPs exhibit better biocompatibility, promoted endothelial proliferation and superior anti-calcification ability. More importantly, excellent anticoagulant activity can be observed in the hematological experiments in vivo and in vitro. In summary, these excellent performances make these functional non-glutaraldehyde cross-linked PPs great potentialities in the BHV applications. Graphical abstract

Polysaccharide is one of the most important active ingredients of edible fungi, which is composed of diverse monosaccharide. Polysaccharide has various biological activities such as antioxidant, antitumor and immune regulation. Therefore, it has been widely used as additive in functional foods. In recent years, more and more researches have been conducted on edible fungal polysaccharides, including the structure analysis, extraction process, conventional fermentation process, biosynthesis and biological activity. In this paper, the monosaccharide composition, molecular weight and glycosidic bond connection methods of several common edible fungal polysaccharides are reviewed, and the advantages and disadvantages of traditional and new extraction methods are discussed. Afterwards, the current status of edible fungal polysaccharides produced by fermentation in shake flasks and small bioreactor is summarized, and finally the biosynthetic mechanism of polysaccharides and its current research status are summarized. Sorting out, this review could provide a theoretical basis for the research and industrial utilization of fungal polysaccharides.

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic values of preoperative plasma fibrinogen and platelet count for screening fixation‐related infection (FRI) in patients undergoing conversion total hip arthroplasty (cTHA) after failed internal fixation of hip fractures. Method This was a single‐center retrospective study. Data were retrospectively analyzed for 435 patients who underwent cTHA in our hospital from January 2008 to September 2020. They were divided into infected (n = 30) and non‐infected groups (n = 405) according to the 2013 International Consensus Meeting (ICM) criteria. The diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of plasma fibrinogen and platelet count were determined using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. Optimal predictive cutoffs of these two markers were determined based on the Youden index. In addition, the diagnostic value of preoperative serum C‐reactive protein (CRP) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) for screening FRI were also evaluated based on the cutoffs recommended by the 2013 ICM Criteria. Finally, the diagnostic ability of various combinations of the plasma fibrinogen and platelet count as well as serum CRP and ESR was re‐assessed. Results The numbers of patients with and without FRI were 30 (6.9%) and 405 (93.1%), respectively. Areas under the ROC curves were 0.770 for fibrinogen, 0.606 for platelet, 0.844 for CRP and 0.749 for ESR. The optimal predictive cutoff of fibrinogen was 3.73 g/L, which gave sensitivity of 60.0% and specificity of 90.5%. The optimal predictive cutoff for platelet was 241.5 × 109/L, which gave sensitivity of 46.7% and specificity of 83.7%. The CRP gave sensitivity of 66.7% and specificity of 92.5% with the predetermined cutoff of 10 mg/L, while the ESR gave sensitivity of 67.5% and specificity of 72.4% % with the predetermined cutoff of 30 mm/h. The combination of CRP and ESR showed high specificity of 93.2% but low sensitivity of 66.7%, while the corresponding values for CRP with fibrinogen were satisfied both for sensitivity of 80.0% and specificity of 78.7%. The combination of these four biomarkers gave sensitivity of 73.3% and specificity of 85.7%. Conclusion Preoperative serum CRP, ESR, plasma fibrinogen and platelet count have low sensitivity on their own for screening FRI in patients, but the combination of CRP with fibrinogen shows promise for that.

Abstract Background Although serum C-reactive protein (CRP), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), plasma fibrinogen and neutrophil–lymphocyte ratio (NLR) are promising biomarkers for screening PJI in patients undergoing revision arthroplasty, their efficacy with respect to re-revision arthroplasty remains unclear. Methods We included patients who underwent re-revision arthroplasty at our hospital during 2008–2020, and stratified them into two groups whether they had been diagnosed with PJI (infected) or aseptic failure (non-infected) according to the 2013 International Consensus Meeting criteria. We evaluated the diagnostic performance of CRP, ESR, fibrinogen and NLR, both individually and in combinations, based on sensitivity, specificity, and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve. Results Of the 63 included patients, 32 were diagnosed with PJI. The area under the ROC curve was 0.821 for CRP, 0.794 for ESR, 0.885 for fibrinogen and 0.702 for NLR. CRP gave a sensitivity of 87.5% and specificity of 74.2% with an optimal predictive cut-off of 8.50 mg/mL. ESR gave a sensitivity of 81.3% and specificity of 71.0% with an optimal predictive cut-off of 33 mm/h. Plasma fibrinogen gave a comparatively higher sensitivity of 93.8% and specificity of 77.4% with an optimal predictive cut-off of 3.55 g/L, while NLR gave a moderate sensitivity of 84.4% but low specificity of 54.8% with an optimal predictive cut-off of 2.30. The combination of fibrinogen and CRP gave a high AUC of 0.897, an acceptable sensitivity of 75% and a high specificity 93.5%. Conclusions Plasma fibrinogen is a cost-effective, convenient biomarker that can be used to rule out PJI in patients scheduled for re-revision arthroplasty. In combination with CRP, it may be effective in diagnosing PJI in such patients.

Abstract Background The treatments for trochanteric fractures try to regain early mobility and limit morbidity and risk of reoperations. The most currently used dynamic hip screw (DHS) and the proximal femoral nail (PFN) are both with pros and cons. We aimed to assess the comparative effectiveness of these interventions for trochanteric fractures by evaluating the surgical performance and postoperative outcomes. Methods PubMed, Web of Science and Cochrane Central Register were searched for RCTs comparing DHS and PFN for trochanteric fractures. All selected studies and the risk of bias were assessed. Clinical data including operative time, intraoperative blood loss, intraoperative fluoroscopy time, successful closed reduction and complications like nonunion, implant failure and reoperation were recorded. Random-effects models were used in Review Manager software, and GRADE was applied for the interpretation of the evidence. Results From 286 identified trials, twelve RCTs including 1889 patients were eligible for inclusion; six RCTs directly comparing DHS with PFN, while other six compared DHS with proximal femoral nail antirotation (PFNA). Compared to DHS, PFN had shorter operative time and led to less intraoperative blood loss. However, DHS need less intraoperative fluoroscopy time than PFN. No difference was seen for the achievement of closed reduction. For risk of postoperative complications, no difference was seen between PFN and DHS for non-union, risk of implant failure and revision surgery. Conclusions PFN(A) resulted in a shorter operative time and less intraoperative blood loss compared to DHS. However, no difference was seen for postoperative complications. To investigate the effects of dietary tributyrin (TB) and alanyl-glutamine (AGn) on the intestinal health of largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) fed with high-level soybean meal (SM) diet, six isonitrogenous (41.36%) and isolipidic (10.25%) diets were formulated and fed to largemouth bass (initial body weight 25.5 ± 0.5g) for 8 weeks. The two control diets contained 34.8% peanut meal (PM) and 41.3% SM, while the other four experimental diets supplemented TB at 0.1% (TB0.1), 0.2% (TB0.2) and AGn at 1% (AGn1), 2% (AGn2) in SM, respectively. The results showed that there were no significant differences in weight gain, survival rate, and hepatosomatic index among all groups (P>0.05), while feed coefficient rate in AGn1, AGn2 and TB0.2 groups was significantly lower than that in SM group (P< 0.05). Compared with the PM group, the intestinal inflammation of largemouth bass in SM group were obvious, accompanied by the damage of intestinal structure, the decrease of digestive enzyme activity, and the up-regulation of proinflammatory cytokines. BackgroundAngiopoietin-like 3 (ANGPTL3) is a secretory glycoprotein. It has been demonstrated that ANGPTL3 level was upregulated in minimal change nephrotic syndrome (MCNS) kidney tissues. Subsequently, our group found that ANGPTL3 level was closely correlated with nephropathy in vivo and in vitro. Hence, whether ANGPTL3 level could be correlated with the proteinuria level, and assessment of disease severity of nephrotic syndrome (NS) remained to be investigated. This study aimed to analyzed the correlation between the levels of ANGPTL3 in serum and urine of patients with nephrotic syndrome and proteinuria, and assessed the severity of the patients' disease. In future clinical translation, the level of ANGPTL3 in serum, urine will be used as a biomarker to better predict the development of nephrotic syndrome.MethodsA total of 200 NS patients and 80 healthy controls (age, 1–18 years) were admitted to our institution between 2021 and 2022. The etiology of NS included primary nephrotic syndrome (PNS, n = 144) and NS with other causes (n = 56). A total of 280 serum samples and 244 urinary samples were collected to determine ANGPTL3 level using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).ResultsSerum ANGPTL3 and urinary ANGPTL3/Cre were remarkably elevated in NS patients compared with those in healthy controls. Furthermore, serum ANGPTL3 and urinary ANGPTL3/Cre were significantly correlated with proteinuria level. Additionally, multivariate linear regression analysis demonstrated that serum ALB was independently correlated with serum ANGPTL3 and PRO/CR was independently correlated with urinary ANGPTL3/Cre in NS patients.ConclusionSerum ANGPTL3 and urinary ANGPTL3/Cre showed a promising performance in the diagnosis of NS, and served as novel potential noninvasive biomarkers to assess disease severity of NS. Further exploration of the role of ANGPTL3 level may shed a new light on the treatment of NS.

Background: Acute lung injury (ALI) is a common clinical disease with high mortality. Rujin Jiedu powder (RJJD) has been clinically utilized for the treatment of ALI in China, but the active constituents in RJJD and its protective mechanisms against ALI are still unclear.Methodology: ALI mice were established by intraperitoneal injection of LPS to test the effectiveness of RJJD in treating ALI. Histopathologic analysis was used to assess the extent of lung injury. An MPO (myeloperoxidase) activity assay was used to evaluate neutrophil infiltration. Network pharmacology was used to explore the potential targets of RJJD against ALI. Immunohistochemistry and TUNEL staining were performed to detect apoptotic cells in lung tissues. RAW264.7 and BEAS-2B cells were used to explore the protective mechanisms of RJJD and its components on ALI in vitro. The inflammatory factors (TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β and IL-18) in serum, BALF and cell supernatant were assayed using ELISA. Western blotting was performed to detect apoptosis-related markers in lung tissues and BEAS-2B cells.Results: RJJD ameliorated pathological injury and neutrophil infiltration in the lungs of ALI mice and decreased the levels of inflammatory factors in serum and BALF. Network pharmacology investigations suggested that RJJD treated ALI via regulating apoptotic signaling pathways, with AKT1 and CASP3 as crucial targets and PI3K-AKT signaling as the main pathway. Meanwhile, baicalein, daidzein, quercetin and luteolin were identified as key constituents in RJJD targeting on the above crucial targets. Experimental investigations showed that RJJD significantly upregulated the expression of p-PI3K, p-Akt and Bcl-2, downregulated the expression of Bax, caspase-3 and caspase-9 in ALI mice, and attenuated lung tissue apoptosis. Four active constituents in RJJD (baicalein, daidzein, quercetin and luteolin) inhibited the secretion of TNF-α and IL-6 in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cells. Among these components, daidzein and luteolin activated the PI3K-AKT pathway and downregulated the expression of apoptosis-related markers induced by LPS in BEAS-2B cells.Conclusion: RJJD alleviates the inflammatory storm and prevents apoptosis in the lungs of ALI mice. The mechanism of RJJD in treating ALI is related to the activation of PI3K-AKT signaling pathway. This study provides a scientific basis for the clinical application of RJJD.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death globally and poses at significant challenge in terms of effective medical treatment. Leonurus japonicus Houtt, a traditional Chinese herb, is widely used in China for the treatment of obstetrical and gynecological disorders, including menstrual disorders, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, blood stasis, postpartum bleeding, and blood-related diseases such as CVD. Stachydrine, the main alkaloid component of Leonurus, has been shown to exhibit a wide range of biological activities including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-coagulant, anti-apoptotic, vasodilator, angiogenic promoter. Additionally, it has been demonstrated to have unique advantages in the prevention and treatment of CVD through regulation of various disease-related signaling pathways and molecular targets. In this comprehensive review, we examine the latest pharmacological effects and molecular mechanisms of Stachydrine in treating cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Our aim is to solid scientific basis for the development of new CVD drug formulations.

BackgroundUnderstanding the occurrence and severity of child injuries is the cornerstone of preventing child injuries. Currently, there is no standardized child injury surveillance dataset in China.MethodsMultistage consultation by a panel of Chinese experts in child injury to determine items to include in the core dataset (CDS) was performed. The experts participated in two rounds of the modified Delphi method comprising a consultation questionnaire investigation (Round 1) and a face-to-face panel discussion (Round 2). Final consensus was established based on the opinions of the experts regarding the modified CDS information collection items. Enthusiasm and authority exhibited by the experts were evaluated by the response rate and using the expert authority coefficient, respectively.ResultsThe expert panel included 16 experts in Round 1 and 15 experts in Round 2. The experts during both rounds had a high degree of authority, with an average authority coefficient of 0.86. The enthusiasm of the experts was 94.12%, and the proportion of suggestions reached 81.25% in Round 1 of the modified Delphi method. The draft CDS evaluated in Round 1 included 24 items, and expert panelists could submit recommendations to add items. Based on findings in Round 1, four additional items, including nationality, residence, type of family residence, and primary caregiver were added to the draft of the CDS for Round 2. After Round 2, consensus was reached on 32 items arranged into four domains—general demographic information, injury characteristics, clinical diagnosis and treatment, and injury outcome—to include in the final CDS.ConclusionThe development of a child injury surveillance CDS could contribute to standardized data collection, collation, and analysis. The CDS developed here could be used to identify actionable characteristics of child injury to assist health policymakers in designing evidence-based injury prevention interventions.

BackgroundCongenital Anomalies of the Kidney and Urinary Tract (CAKUT) are the primary cause of end-stage renal disease in children, early diagnosis and treatment can significantly improve the kidney function. Among CAKUT, renal pelvis dilatation (RPD) due to various causes has the highest detection rate, which can be detected early by postnatal ultrasound screening. Since 2010, the Children's Hospital of Fudan University (CHFU), together with the Minhang District Maternal and Child Health Hospital (MCH) and Community Health Centres (CHCs) of Minhang District has created a three-level referral system for urological ultrasound screening. This study aims to describe the operation of a three-level referral system for ultrasound screening of CAKUT and to select risk factors of RPD in high-risk children.MethodsThe operation of the three-level referral system was assessed by analyzing the screening volume, screening rate, referral rate, and follow-up rate; risk factors of RPD in high-risk children were selected by chi-square test and multivariate logistic regression.ResultsA total of 16,468 high-risk children were screened in ten years, and the screening volume was maintained at about 1,500 cases per year; the screening rate showed a linear increase, from 36.8% in 2010 to 98.2% in 2019; the referral rate from the CHCs to the MCH was 89.9% significantly higher after 2015 than that of 84.7% from 2010 to 2015; the follow-up rate after 2015 was 71.0% significantly higher than that of 46.3% from 2010 to 2015. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the risk of RPD was 1.966 times higher in males than in females, and the risk of moderate to severe RPD was 2.570 times higher in males than in females; the risk of RPD in preterm children was 1.228 times higher than that of full-term children; and the risk of RPD was 1.218 times higher in twins than in singles.ConclusionsThe screening volume of the three-level referral system has remained stable over a decade, with significantly higher screening, referral, and follow-up rates. Males, preterm, and twins are risk factors of RPD in high-risk children; males are also risk factors for moderate to severe RPD in high-risk children.

Introduction: Chronic stress exposure is the main environmental factor leading to cognitive impairment, but the detailed molecular mechanism is still unclear. Adenosine Deaminase acting on double-stranded RNA1(ADAR1) is involved in the occurrence of chronic stress-induced cognitive impairment. In addition, dopamine and Adenosine 3′5′-monophosphate-regulated phospho-protein (DARPP-32) gene variation affects cognitive function. Therefore, we hypothesized that ADAR1 plays a key role in chronic stress-induced cognitive impairment by acting on DARPP-32.Methods: In this study, postnatal 21-day-old male BALB/c mice were exposed to chronic unpredictable stressors. After that, the mice were treated with ADAR1 inducer/inhibitor. The cognitive ability and cerebral DARPP-32 protein expression of BALB/c mice were evaluated. In order to explore the link between ADAR1 and DARPP-32, the effects of ADAR1 high/low expression on DARPP-32 protein expression in vitro were detected.Results: ADAR1 inducer alleviates cognitive impairment and recovers decreased DARPP-32 protein expression of the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex in BALB/c mice with chronic unpredictable stress exposure. In vivo and in vitro studies confirm the results predicted by bio-informatics; that is, ADAR1 affects DARPP-32 expression via miR-874-3p.Discussion: The results in this study demonstrate that ADAR1 affects the expression of DARPP-32 via miR-874-3p, which is involved in the molecular mechanism of pathogenesis in chronic unpredictable stress-induced cognitive impairment. The new findings of this study provide a new therapeutic strategy for the prevention and treatment of stress cognitive impairment from epigenetics.

BackgroundPlasma cell mastitis (PCM) is a complex breast disease in the clinic. Currently, there are no unified diagnostic criteria for the disease and no standard treatment methods. The effects of hormone, Conventional Chinese medicine and other treatments are uncertain, with long treatment duration and notable side effects. Surgery is the preferred treatment, but the recurrence rate after conventional surgery is very high, which may be related to depression of the nipple. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of a novel corrective procedure in patients with cellular mastitis and depressed nipples.MethodsPatients with PCM who received surgical treatment in the Third Medical Center of PLA General Hospital from January 1996 to January 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. According to the presence or absence of nipple depression before surgery, the patients were divided into the nipple depression group and the non-nipple depression group. In the nipple depression group, patients were subdivided into a novel corrective surgery group (“one” suture or half pocket suture) and a conventional corrective surgery group (oil yarn traction valgus correction of nipple depression). Demographic, clinical, therapeutic, and postoperative relapse data were collected and analyzed.ResultsCompared with the patients in the non-nipple depression group, patients in the nipple depression group had a significantly higher recurrence risk after surgery (HR = 2.129 95% CI: 1.110–4.083, p = 0.023). Patients who underwent novel corrective surgery had a significantly lower recurrence risk than those who underwent conventional corrective surgery (HR = 0.363 95% CI: 0.150–0.880, p = 0.025). In addition, the novel corrective surgery significantly reduced the postoperative recurrence risk (HR = 0.088 95% CI: 0.009–0.886, p = 0.037).ConclusionHow to correct nipple depression is a critical factor for postoperative recurrence of PCM, and this novel corrective surgery for nipple depression can effectively reduce the postoperative recurrence rate in patients with nipple depression.

This study investigated the effects of Clostridium butyricum (CB) and sodium butyrate (SB) on the growth performance, intestinal immune, and gut microbiota of mirror carp (Cyprinus carpio) fed with a high level of soybean meal. Three hundred sixty healthy carp fingerlings (∼3.74 g) were divided into eight dietary treatments with four replicates and ten fish per replicate. Summary: DOPEY2 has been shown to be associated with Down syndrome and PCDH7 might be involved in Rett syndrome and MECP2 duplication syndrome. The mechanism how both proteins play roles in these syndromes are largely unknown. Here, we show that Dopey2 and Pcdh7 balance the proliferation and differentiation of neural stem cells and progenitors during embryonic neurogenesis to generate proper size and architecture of zebrafish brains. Dopey2 and Pcdh7 mutually restricted expression of each other in zebrafish embryos. Dopey2 was responsible for the proliferation of neural stem cells/progenitors, whereas Pcdh7 was responsible for the differentiation of neural stem cells/progenitors. Both proteins were shown to orchestrate the proper development and arrangement of neural cells in zebrafish embryonic brains. The results provide an insight into mechanisms to understand how the embryonic brain is constituted and how developmental defects occur in the brains of patients with Down syndrome, Rett syndrome, or MECP2 duplication syndrome.

Abstract High‐performance multilayer dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) are well‐positioned to overcome the insufficient output force and energy density as artificial muscles. However, due to the fabrication process, the multilayer DEAs with nonmodifiable structures often suffer from the limitation of short lifespans and scalable preparation. Herein, reusable multilayer DEAs with the detachable and reconfigurable structure are fabricated. This is achieved by realizing scalable compliant electrodes using the continuous spatial confining forced network assembly (CSNA) method and combining the vacuum lamination (VL) approach to have good attachability and detachability with the VHB dielectric elastomer. The flexible roller‐based CSNA method is used to prepare the large area compliant electrodes composed of α, ω‐dihydroxy polydimethylsiloxane and electrically conductive nanoparticles. The fabricated electrodes can continuously work over 10 000 cycles at 40% strained stretching and maintain smooth surfaces to construct multilayer DEAs. Moreover, owing to the detachable configuration of the DEAs, the electrodes can also be recovered and reused for building new actuators. The lower limb assistive device is demonstrated by detachable multilayer spring roll DEAs, achieving approximately 3.1 degrees of flexion and extension movement of knee models under a voltage of 7 kV. The detachable and reconfigurable multilayer DEAs shed new light on the applications of wearable assistive devices.

Abstract Photoelectrochemical oxidation of methylene blue is investigated, with particular focus on the difference in kinetics and thermodynamics of decoloration and mineralization employing photoinduced absorption spectroscopy. Hematite and titania photoanodes are used for the comparison of both reactions, which is determined to be associated with the depth of the valence band (3.2 vs 2.5 V for titania and hematite, respectively). Methylene blue is mineralized by the titania photoanode, however it is only oxidized to small fragments by hematite. Such difference is related to the valence band potential that provides the thermodynamic driving force for photogenerated holes in both materials. In addition, the kinetic competition of water oxidation is found to occur on titania by controlling the pH of the electrolyte. In the pH 14 electrolyte, mineralization of methylene blue is suppressed due to the faster and dominant kinetics of water oxidation, in contrast to the complete mineralization in the near neutral electrolyte where water oxidation kinetics are modest. These results clearly address the importance considering both thermodynamic and kinetic challenges of methylene blue oxidation, which has been thought to be an easy molecule to oxidize, as the model reaction in the application of photo(electro)catalysis using metal oxides.

Abstract With the rapid development of energy storage technology, solid‐state lithium batteries with high energy density, power density, and safety are considered as the ideal choice for the next generation of energy storage devices. Solid electrolytes have attracted considerable attention as key components of solid‐state batteries. Compared with inorganic solid electrolytes, solid polymer electrolytes have better flexibility, machinability, and more importantly, better contact with the electrode, and low interfacial impedance. However, its low ionic conductivity, narrow electrochemical stability window (ESW), and poor mechanical properties at room temperature limit its development and practical applications. In recent years, many studies have focused on improving the ionic conductivity of polymer electrolytes; however, few systematic studies and reviews have been conducted on their ESWs. A polymer electrolyte with wide electrochemical window will aid battery operation at a high voltage, which can effectively improve their energy density. Moreover, their stability toward lithium metal anode is also important. Therefore, this review summarizes the recent progress of solid polymer electrolytes on the ESW, discusses the factors affecting ESW of polymer electrolytes, and analyzes a strategy to broaden the window from the perspective of molecular interaction, polymer structural design, and interfacial tuning. The development trends of polymer electrolytes with wide electrochemical windows are also presented.

It is very important to improve the design of supports because the cut and cover method of layered backfill after construction is the primary method used to construct shallow buried sections of mountain tunnels. The Dujuan Valley Tunnel in Fenghua City is the subject of this research. First, a geometric model of a shallow buried section of a mountain tunnel and its construction parameters were used to develop the simplified bearing capacity analysis model for the covered arch. Second, a simplified method to calculate the internal force of the cover arch supporting structure was established by using the method of structural mechanics. Thus, a method was established to determine the safe thickness of the cover arch and to analyze the bearing capacity and stability of the enlarged foundation of the arch foot. Third, the influence of the tunnel burial depth, cap arch sag height, central angle, radius and arch foot width on the bearing characteristics of the cover arch support structure was discussed, and the optimal design principle of excavation in shallow buried sections of mountain tunnels was obtained. Finally, the calculation and evaluation of the design in an example case were used to determine the rationality of the method to design and optimize shallow buried sections of mountain tunnels with the cut and cover method.

Lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMO) are expected to change the current status of chitin resource utilization. This study reports that targeted enrichment of the microbiota was performed with chitin by the selective gradient culture technique, and a novel LPMO (M2822) was identified from the enrichment microbiota metagenome. First, soil samples were screened based on soil bacterial species and chitinase biodiversity. Then gradient enrichment culture with different chitin concentrations was carried out. The efficiency of chitin powder degradation was increased by 10.67 times through enrichment, and chitin degradation species Chitiniphilus and Chitinolyticbacter were enriched significantly. A novel LPMO (M2822) was found in the metagenome of the enriched microbiota. Phylogenetic analysis showed that M2822 had a unique phylogenetic position in auxiliary activity (AA) 10 family. The analysis of enzymatic hydrolysate showed that M2822 had chitin activity. When M2822 synergized with commercial chitinase to degrade chitin, the yield of N-acetyl glycosamine was 83.6% higher than chitinase alone. The optimum temperature and pH for M2822 activity were 35°C and 6.0. The synergistic action of M2822 and chitin-degrading enzymes secreted by Chitiniphilus sp. LZ32 could efficiently hydrolyze shrimp shell powder. After 12 h of enzymatic hydrolysis, chitin oligosaccharides (COS) yield reached 4,724 μg/mL. To our knowledge, this work is the first study to mine chitin activity LPMO in the metagenome of enriched microbiota. The obtained M2822 showed application prospects in the efficient production of COS.

The use of γ-secretase inhibitors to inhibit the activation of Notch receptors can effectively inhibit the malignant process of tumors. Here, we demonstrate that p53 can modulate the effect of DAPT (a γ-secretase inhibitor) on the activation of small GTPase Rac1, thereby affecting cell migration of non-small-cell lung cancer H1299 and A549 cells. After treatment with 20 μM DAPT, activation of Rac1 was increased in H1299 cells but not in A549 cells. We further found that the migration ability of H1299 cells was increased, whereas that of A549 cells was reduced. The effect of DAPT on H1299 migration was repressed by Rac1-T17N, a dominant inactivated mutant of Rac1. H1299 is a p53-deficient cell line. When p53 protein was overexpressed in H1299 cells with a pEGFP-p53 plasmid, DAPT treatment no longer activated Rac1 and increased migration ability. Moreover, DAPT promoted the migration of H1299 cells by increasing the activity of Rac1 through the non-canonical Notch pathway. Taken together, these results indicate that the expression of p53 protein in lung cancer cells regulates the effect of DAPT on cell migration by modulating the activation of Rac1, suggesting that p53 may affect the therapeutic effects of Notch inhibitors in lung cancer patients.

Hucho taimen is a cold-water fish with high economic value. Myo-inositol (MI) can accelerate lipid metabolism and promote growth in fish species. The present study aimed to assess the effect of MI on the growth performance, digestive enzyme activity, and antioxidation of juvenile H. taimen. Accordingly, an 8-week feeding trial was conducted. The results demonstrated that increasing MI concentration promoted growth performance in H. taimen. Among the MI concentrations tested, a dose of 328 mg MI/kg corresponded with the lowest feed conversion ratio (FCR) and the highest growth rate. Compared with fish fed a diet of 128 mg MI/kg, the lipase activity in the pyloric caeca significantly increased in fish fed 528 mg MI/kg, while superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity was significantly higher in fish fed 728 mg MI/kg. Consistently, the 128 mg MI/kg diet presented the highest malonaldehyde (MDA) levels. In conclusion, our study revealed that enhanced growth performance, digestive enzyme activity, and antioxidant capacity increased as MI concentration increased. The optimum level of dietary MI in H. taimen was 270–321 mg/kg, based on the FCR and specific growth rate (SGR) on the broken-line regression.

Perfluorodecanoic acid (PFDA), an enduring and harmful organic pollutant, is widely employed in diverse food-related sectors. Our previous studies have provided evidence that PFDA has the potential to facilitate obesity and hepatic fat accumulation induced by high-fat diet (HFD) intake. Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a polyphenol found in green tea, has been suggested to possess potential preventive effects against metabolic abnormalities and fatty liver. The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of EGCG on PFDA-exacerbated adiposity and hepatic lipid accumulation in HFD-fed mice. The results showed that EGCG reduced body weight gain; tissue and organ weights; blood glucose, serum insulin, HOMA-IR, leptin, and lipid parameters; serum inflammatory cytokines (IL−1β, IL−18, IL−6, and TNF−α); and hepatic lipid accumulation in PFDA-exposed mice fed an HFD. Further work showed that EGCG improved liver function and glucose homeostasis in mice fed an HFD and co-exposed to PFDA. The elevated hepatic mRNA levels of SREBP-1 and associated lipogenic genes, NLRP3, and caspase−1 in PFDA-exposed mice fed an HFD were significantly decreased by EGCG. Our work provides evidence for the potential anti-obesity effect of EGCG on co-exposure to HFD and PFDA and may call for further research on the bioactivity of EGCG to attenuate the endocrine disruption effects of long-term exposure to pollutants.

Aphids are one of the most destructive pests in agricultural production. In addition, aphids are able to easily develop resistance to chemical insecticides due to their rapid reproduction and short generation periods. To explore an effective and environmentally friendly aphid control strategy, we isolated and examined a fungus with aphid-parasitizing activity. The strain (YJNfs21.11) was identified as Aspergillus flavus by ITS, 28S, and BenA gene sequence analysis. Scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy revealed that the infection hyphae of ‘YJNfs21.11’ colonized and penetrated the aphid epidermal layer and subsequently colonized the body cavity. Field experiments showed that ‘YJNfs21.11’ and its fermentation products exerted considerable control on aphids, with a corrected efficacy of 96.87%. The lipase, protease, and chitinase secreted by fungi help aphid cuticle degradation, thus assisting spores in completing the infection process. Additionally, changes were observed in the mobility and physical signs of aphids, with death occurring within 60 h of infection. Our results demonstrate that A. flavus ‘YJNfs21.11’ exhibits considerable control on Aphis gossypii Glover and Hyalopterus arundimis Fabricius, making it a suitable biological control agent.

The human spatial perception of urban streets has a high complexity and traditional research methods often focus on access surveys of human perception. Urban streets serve as both a direct conduit for pedestrians’ impressions of a city and a reflection of the spatial quality of that city. Street-view images can provide a large amount of primary data for the image semantic segmentation technique. Deep learning techniques were used in this study to collect the boring, beautiful, depressing, lively, safe, and wealthy perception scores of street spaces based on these images. Then, the spatial pattern of urban street-space quality perception was analyzed by global Moran’s I and GIS hotspot analyses. The findings demonstrate that various urban facilities affect street quality perception in different ways and that the strength of an influencing factor’s influence varies depending on its geographical location. The results of the influencing factors reveal the difference in the degree of influence of positive and negative influencing factors on various perceptions of the visual dimension of pedestrians. The primary contribution of this study is that it reduces the potential bias of a single data source by using multi-dimensional impact analysis to explain the relationship between urban street perception and urban facilities and visual elements. The study’s findings offer direction for high-quality urban development as well as advice for urban planning and enhanced design.

This paper studies the design of dual-mode resilient event-triggered control strategy for Markov jump cyber–physical systems (MJCPSs) under denial-of-service (DoS) attacks. Firstly, a novel resilient event-triggering scheme dependent on the DoS signal is developed to select the corresponding control protocol based on the current network quality of services. Particularly, the potential relationship between the triggering signal and system mode under DoS attacks is discussed, aiming to eliminate both Zeno behavior and singular triggering behavior by calculating the minimum and maximum data update rates. Then, we design an event-based dual-mode security controller to ensure that the closed-loop system has stochastic stability and good robust H∞ performance under DoS attacks. By constructing a Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional which depends on the lower and upper bounds of time delay, sufficient conditions for the existence of dual-mode security controller gains and resilient triggering parameters are presented with the LMI form. Finally, simulation results show that the proposed security control strategy has good robustness against DoS attacks.

Polypropylene (PP) grease is a type of lubricating grease with excellent low-temperature performance. The wear and friction performance of steel/steel couples lubricated with PP grease containing molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), zinc dialkyldithophosphate (ZDDP) and MoS2/ZDDP as additives at low temperatures was investigated using an Optimol SRV reciprocating tester. Compared with MoS2 or ZDDP as single additives, the combination of MoS2 and ZDDP resulted in outstanding tribological properties, especially for higher-load, longer-duration and low-temperature working conditions. The analysis of the wear surface indicated that MoS2 not only adhered to the steel surfaces to form a solid film, but also combined with ZDDP to form a tribofilm. The active components of the additives reached the metal surfaces effectively, indicating that the polymer system did not interfere with the function of the additives. The rheological experiment results also showed that PP grease with additives can maintain stable viscoelasticity, viscosity recovery rates and ductility at low temperatures.

To reduce the use of the toxic Pb element in the Cu-Sn alloy with high friction performance, Cu-xBi-10Sn alloys with different Bi contents were prepared by gravity casting, and the effect of Bi content on the microstructure, mechanical properties and wear property of Cu-Sn alloys were studied. The results showed that the Bi element was distributed in bands or long strips on the dendritic arms and did not form compounds with other elements. With the increase in Bi content, the hardness and tensile strength of Cu-xBi-10Sn alloys present a trend of increasing first and then decreasing. When the Bi content was 7 wt.%, the maximum hardness value was obtained, and the ultimate tensile strength was close to that of Cu-10Pb-10Sn alloy. Compared with Cu-10Pb-10Sn alloy, Cu-7Bi-10Sn alloy also possessed better friction reduction and wear resistance under the oil lubrication condition.

Landslides frequently occur in the mountainous area of southwest China, resulting in infrastructure damage, as well as a loss of life and property. The use of interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) technology has become increasingly popular due to its wide coverage, high precision, and efficiency in identifying potential landslides in steep mountainous regions to mitigate risks. This study focused on the Mao County region in China and utilized a small baseline subset of InSAR (SBAS−InSAR) technology with Sentinel-1 and ALOS-2 data to identify the potential landslides and analyze their applicability. To ensure accuracy, the findings were verified using optical image and field surveys. Additionally, a comparative analysis was performed on C-band and L-band SAR data to examine differences in the coherence, geometric distortion, and displacement results, revealing that the L-band has clear advantages in the coherence, suitable observation coverage, and displacement results, while C-band can detect relatively slight displacements. This study aimed to determine the applicability of different SAR satellites for early landslide identification in steep mountainous areas, which can serve as a technical reference for selecting appropriate SAR data and enhancing InSAR identification abilities for potential landslides in the future.

Abstract Medical image segmentation is a fundamental step in medical analysis and diagnosis. In recent years, deep learning networks have been used for precise segmentation. Numerous improved encoder–decoder structures have been proposed for various segmentation tasks. However, high-level features have gained more research attention than the abundant low-level features in the early stages of segmentation. Consequently, the learning of edge feature maps has been limited, which can lead to ambiguous boundaries of the predicted results. Inspired by the encoder–decoder network and attention mechanism, this study investigates a novel multilayer edge attention network (MEA-Net) to fully utilize the edge information in the encoding stages. MEA-Net comprises three major components: a feature encoder module, a feature decoder module, and an edge module. An edge feature extraction module in the edge module is designed to produce edge feature maps by a sequence of convolution operations so as to integrate the inconsistent edge information from different encoding stages. A multilayer attention guidance module is designed to use each attention feature map to filter edge information and select important and useful features. Through experiments, MEA-Net is evaluated on four medical image datasets, including tongue images, retinal vessel images, lung images, and clinical images. The evaluation values of the Accuracy of four medical image datasets are 0.9957, 0.9736, 0.9942, and 0.9993, respectively. The values of the Dice coefficient are 0.9902, 0.8377, 0.9885, and 0.9704, respectively. Experimental results demonstrate that the network being studied outperforms current state-of-the-art methods in terms of the five commonly used evaluation metrics. The proposed MEA-Net can be used for the early diagnosis of relevant diseases. In addition, clinicians can obtain more accurate clinical information from segmented medical images.

Abstract Aim To develop self‐management support platform on mobile for Chinese patients with lung cancer. Design A stepwise approach with combination of methods. Methods Literature review was carried out to construct preliminary framework and develop detailed content for self‐management modules. A semistructured interview was conducted to elicit preference in the content and platform of self‐management modules with 15 patients with lung cancer. Delphi study was performed to evaluate and improve the content of modules with 13 experts. A pilot study was conducted to test the mobile health–based self‐management support modules with 13 patients with lung cancer. Results A social network software‐based WeChat public account “Symptom Self‐Management” for patients with lung cancer was developed and preliminarily tested with positive feedback. Three modules were designed and presented, including symptom management (cancer‐related fatigue, cough, dyspnoea, pain, nausea and vomiting), emotion management and role management. Conclusion This study showed that patients with lung cancer have diversified supportive care needs after discharge. A bottom‐up and stepwise approach to develop mobile health–based self‐management support tool has shown to be feasible and valuable. Theory guidance, user requirement exploration, evidence‐based information and expert evaluation are key elements of the process. Implications for Practice The WeChat Public Account “Symptom Self‐Management” could be used as sustainable platform to support patients with lung cancer in dealing with common challenges. It provides professional information, self‐assessment tools, self‐management skills and peer‐support platform. Information presented in both text and audio forms enables patients' easy access to the platform.
