Abstract: We report on the first observations of (B) over bar (0) -> D-1 (2430)(0)omega, (B) over bar (0) -> D-1 (2420)(0)omega, and (B) over bar (0) -> D-2* (2460)(0)omega decays. The (B) over bar (0) -> D*(+) rho(1450)(-) decay is also observed. The branching fraction measurements are based on (771.6 +/- 10.6) x 10(6) B (B) over bar events collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. The fractions of longitudinal polarization of the D** states as well as partial wave fractions of the D-1 (2430)(0) are obtained. We also set a 90% confidence level upper limit for the product of branching fractions of B((B) over bar (0) -> D*(+)b(1) (1235)(-)) x B(b(1) (1235)(-) -> omega pi(-)). The measurements show evidence of nontrivial final-state interaction phases for the rho-meson-like amplitudes.

Abstract: The process e(+)e(-) -> gamma chi(cJ) (J = 1, 2) is studied via initial state radiation using 980 fb(-1) of data at and around the Gamma(nS) (n = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) resonances collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetricenergy e(+)e(-) collider. No significant signal is observed except from psi(2S) decays. Upper limits on the cross sections between root s = 3.80 and 5.56 GeV are determined at the 90% credibility level, which range from a few pb to a few tens of pb. We also set upper limits on the decay rate of the vector charmonium [psi(4040), psi(4160), and psi(4415)] and charmoniumlike [Y(4260), Y(4360), and Y(4660)] states to gamma chi(cJ).

Abstract: We report a search for the charmless hadronic decay B-0 -> eta pi(0) with a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 694 fb(-1) containing 753 x 10(6) BB pairs. The data were collected by the Belle experiment running on the Upsilon(4S) resonance at the KEKB e(+)e(-) collider. We measure a branching fraction B(B-0 > eta pi(0)) = (4.1(-1.5-0.7)(+1.75+0.5)) x 10(-7), where the first unceminty is statistical and the second is systematic. Our measurement gives an upper limit of beta(B-0 -> n pi(0)) < 6.5 x 10(-7) at 90% confidence level. The signal has a significance of 3.0 standard deviations and constitutes the first evidence for this decay mode.

Abstract: We search for the decay B+ -> l(+)nu(l)gamma with l(+) = e(+) or mu(+) using the full Belle data set of 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs, collected at the Y(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. We reconstruct one B meson in a hadronic decay mode and search for the B+ -> l(+)nu(l)gamma decay in the remainder of the event. We observe no significant signal within the phase space of E-gamma(sig) > 1 GeV and obtain upper limits of B(B+ -> e(+)nu(e)gamma) mu(+)nu(mu)gamma) l(+)nu(l)gamma) < 3.5 x 10(-6) at 90% credibility level.

Abstract: We report improved measurements of the product branching fractions B(B+ --> (D) over bar D-0(s0)*(+)(2317)) x B(D-s0*(+)(2317) --> D-s(+) pi(0)) (8.0(-1.2)(+1.3) +/- 1.1 +/- 0.4) x 10(-4) and B(B-0 --> D-Ds0*(+)(2317)) x B(D-s0*(+)(2317)) --> D-s(+) pi(0)) = (10.2(-1.2)(+1.3) +/- 1.0 +/- 0.4) x 10(-4) where the first errors are statistical, the second are systematic and the third are from D and D-s(+) branching fractions. In addition, we report negative results from a search for hypothesized neutral (z(0)) and doubly charged (z(++)) isospin partners of the D-s0*(+)(2317) and provide upper limits on the product branching fractions B(B-0 --> D(0)z(0)) x B(z(0) --> D-s(+)pi(-)) and B(B+ --> D(0)z(++) ) x B(z(++) --> D-s(+)pi(+)) that are more than an order of magnitude smaller than theoretical expectations for the hypotheses that the D-s0(*+)(2317) is a member of an isospin triplet. The analysis uses a 711 fb(-1) data sample containing 772 million B (B) over bar -meson pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance in the Belle detector at the KEKB collider.

Abstract: We report the measurement of the direct CP asymmetry in the radiative (B) over bar -> Xs+d gamma decay using a data sample of (772 +/- 11) x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. The CP asymmetry is measured as a function of the photon energy threshold. For E-gamma* >= 2.1 GeV, where E-gamma* is the photon energy in the center-of-mass frame, we obtain A(CP) ((B) over bar -> Xs+d gamma) = (2.2 +/- 3.9 +/- 0.9)%, consistent with the standard model prediction.

Abstract: We report a search for the rare charmless decay B+ -> (K) over bar*K-0*(+) using a data sample of 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. No statistically significant signal is found and a 90% confidence- level upper limit is set on the decay branching fraction of B(B+ -> (K) over bar*K-0*(+)) < 1.31 x 10(-6).

Abstract: We present an analysis of the semi-inclusive decays $B_s \to D_s^- X \ell^+ \nu$ and $B_s \to D_s^{*-} X \ell^+ \nu$, where $X$ denotes a final state that may consist of additional hadrons or photons and $\ell$ is an electron or muon. The studied $B_s$ decays are contained in the $121.4~{\rm fb}^{-1}$ $\Upsilon(5S)$ data sample collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. The branching fractions of the decays are measured to be $\mathcal{B}(B_s \to D_s^- X \ell^+ \nu) = [8.2 \pm 0.2 (\text{stat}) \pm 0.6 (\text{syst}) \pm 1.4 (\text{ext})]\%$ and $\mathcal{B}(B_s \to D_s^{*-} X \ell^+ \nu) = [5.4 \pm 0.4 (\text{stat}) \pm 0.4 (\text{syst}) \pm 0.9 (\text{ext})]\%$, where the first two uncertainties are statistical and systematic and the last is due to external parameters. The measurement also provides an estimate of the $B_s^{(*)}\bar{B}_s^{(*)}$ production cross-section, $\sigma(e^+e^- \to B_s^{(*)}\bar{B}_s^{(*)}) = (53.8 \pm 1.4 (\text{stat}) \pm 4.0 (\text{syst}) \pm 3.4 (\text{ext}))\,{\rm pb}$, at the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s} = 10.86\,{\rm GeV}$., Comment: 13 pages, 2 figures, submitted to Phys. Abstract: We report results on studies of the e(+)e(-) annihilation into three-body Upsilon(nS)pi(+)pi(-) (n = 1, 2, 3) final states including measurements of cross sections and the full amplitude analysis. The cross sections measured at root s = 10.866 GeV and corrected for the initial state radiation are sigma(e(+)e(-) --> Upsilon(1S)pi(+)pi(-)) = (2.27 +/- 0.12 +/- 0.14) pb, sigma(e(+)e(-) --> Upsilon(2S)pi(+)pi(-)) = (4.07 +/- 0.16 +/- 0.45) pb, and sigma(e(+)e(-) --> Upsilon(3S)pi(+)pi(-)) = (1.46 +/- 0.09 +/- 0.16) pb. Amplitude analysis of the three-body Upsilon(nS)pi(+)pi(-) final states strongly favors I-G(J(P)) = 1(+)(1(+)) quantum-number assignments for the two bottomonium-like Z(b)(+/-) states, recently observed in the Upsilon(nS)pi(+) and h(b)(mP)pi(+)(m = 1, 2) decay channels. The results are obtained with a 121.4 fb(-1) data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider.

Abstract: We present a search for the rare leptonic decays B+ -> e(+)nu(e) and B+ -> mu(+) nu(mu) using the full Upsilon(4S) data sample of 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. One of the B mesons from the Upsilon(4S) -> B (B) over bar decay is fully reconstructed in a hadronic mode, while the recoiling side is analyzed for the signal decay. We find no evidence of a signal in any of the decay modes. Upper limits of the corresponding branching fractions are determined as beta(B+ -> e(+)nu(e)) mu(+)nu(mu)) < 2.7 x 10(-6) at 90% confidence level.

Abstract: We report the first observation of B-0 -> X(3872)(K+pi(-)) and evidence for B+ -> X(3872)(K-0 pi(+)). We measure the product of branching fractions for the former to be B(B-0 -> X(3872)(K+pi(-)) x B(X(3872) -> J/psi pi(+)pi(-)) = (7.9 +/- 1.3(stat) +/- 0.4(syst) x 10(-6) and find that B-0 -> X(3872)K*(892)(0) does not dominate the B-0 -> X(3872)K+pi(-) decay mode. We also measure B(B+ -> X(3872)(K-0 pi(+))) x B(X(3872) -> J/psi pi(+)pi(-)) = (10.6 +/- 3.0(stat) +/- 0.9(syst) x 10(-6). This study is based on the full data sample of 711 fb(-1) (772 x 10(6)B (B) over bar pairs) collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB collider.

Abstract: We report the measurement of the direct CP asymmetry in the radiative B¯→X(s+dγ) decay using a data sample of (772 ± 11)×10(6) BB[over ¯] pairs collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. The CP asymmetry is measured as a function of the photon energy threshold. For Eγ*≥2.1 GeV, where Eγ* is the photon energy in the center-of-mass frame, we obtain A(CP)(B¯→X(s+dγ))=(2.2±3.9±0.9)%, consistent with the standard model prediction.

Abstract: While NaNO2addition can greatly inhibit the corrosion of carbon steel and ductile cast iron, in order to improve the similar corrosion resistance,ca.100 times more NaNO2addition is needed for ductile cast iron compared to carbon steel. A corrosion and inhibition mechanism is proposed wherebyNO2-ion is added to oxidize. TheNO2-ion can be reduced to nitrogen compounds and these compounds may be absorbed on the surface of graphite. Therefore, since nitrite ion needs to oxidize the surface of matrix and needs to passivate the galvanic corroded area and since it is absorbed on the surface of graphite, a greater amount of corrosion inhibitor needs to be added to ductile cast iron compared to carbon steel. The passive film of carbon steel and ductile cast iron, formed by NaNO2addition showed N-type semiconductive properties and its resistance, is increased; the passive current density is thus decreased and the corrosion rate is then lowered. In addition, the film is mainly composed of iron oxide due to the oxidation byNO2-ion; however, regardless of the alloys, nitrogen compounds (not nitrite) were detected at the outermost surface but were not incorporated in the inner oxide.

Abstract: Coarse powders of 200∼300 μm size and fine powders below 45 μm size were blended with various ratios, and then synthesized by spark plasma sintering method. The use of coarse powders was beneficial to improve the crystallographic orientation and addition of fine powders reduced the voids existing between coarse powders. When 20 wt% of fine powders were blended with coarse powders, the sintered compound exhibited the maximum figure-of-merit.

Abstract: Paraelectric lead lanthanium titanate (PLT) thin films were deposited Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si multilayer substrates by a multi element metal target using dc magnetron sputtering. The rate of each metal component area on multi element target was obtained by the modified Sigmund's method, suggesting sputtering yields for Pb, La, and Ti metals. A post annealing treatment was applied to all PLT thin films at the temperature ranges from 450°C to 750°C for crystallization into the cubic perovskite structure. The crystallization of PLT thin films was characterized by X-ray diffraction, and their compositions were analyzed by Auger electron spectroscopy. The temperature dependence of dielectric constant in PLT film at La content of 22 mol% had the broad peak at around 60°C, however, and the dielectric constant at La content of 28 mol% decreased slightly at the temperature range of 30∼ 120°C. 166. Promoter methylation of p16, DAPK, CDH1, and TIMP-3 genes in cervical cancer: correlation with clinicopathologic characteristics

Abstract: This study was conducted to investigate the promoter methylation status of the p16, DAPK, CDH1, and TIMP-3 genes in primary cervical cancer and its correlation with clinicopathologic characteristics. Promoter methylation was evaluated using a methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction in 78 cervical cancer tissue specimens and 24 control, normal cervical tissue specimens. Clinicopathologic parameters were obtained from medical records, and the relationship between the discrete variables and the methylation status was evaluated. The frequencies of promoter methylation of p16, DAPK, CDH1, and TIMP-3 in cervical cancer were 57%, 44.9%, 52.6%, and 9%, respectively. Primary cervical cancer had significantly higher methylation frequencies for the p16 and DAPK promoters than did the control, normal cervix (P < 0.0001). The promoter methylation of TIMP-3 was significantly higher in adenocarcinoma than in squamous cell carcinoma (41.7% vs 3%, respectively, P = 0.0175). High-stage cancers exhibited an increased promoter methylation frequency for p16 (P = 0.0061). The promoter methylation of the p16 gene is a frequent event in cervical carcinogenesis and may have potential clinical application as a marker for the progression and prognosis of cancer.

Abstract: A large-scale simulation of copper corrosion has been conducted using ohmically heated hollow copper strands that were connected to a physicochemically scale-downed generator water-cooling circuit to identify susceptible conditions in the domain of operating variables, and to understand the detailed mechanism(s) of plugging and clogging. The effect of the electrochemical corrosion potential (ECP) of copper on the plugging of generator water-cooling circuits has been identified through the simulation experiment. The experimental results exhibited that the ECP change across a critical value can trigger a massive release of particulate corrosion products followed by the plugging of a hollow copper strand in stator winding. The critical ECP at which a release of particulate corrosion products is caused corresponds to the phase boundary between cuprous oxide (Cu2O) and cupric oxide (CuO).

Abstract: Synchronous cancers involving both endometrium and ovary in the female genital tract is a well-recognized phenomenon. However, most of them are metastatic lesions arising from one organ and simultaneous primary cancer occurring in both organs is relatively rare. We report a case with dual primary cancer occurring in both ovaries and endometrium with three different histologies. Recently, a 46-year-old women presented with vaginal bleeding was found to have FIGO stage IC clear cell carcinoma of the left ovary, stage IA borderline mucinous cystadoma of the right ovary, and stage IB endometrial carcinoma of endometrioid type. We present this case with a brief review of references.

Abstract: A high-performance plastic optical fiber (POF) star coupler based on the fusing and combining of a group of POFs is presented. The clad removed group of POFs are fused into a combined body by heating and pressing in a rectangular groove. The optical rays are diffused and mixed in the fused and combined region. Based on ray optics, the device structural parameters are designed to obtain a low optical excess loss and equal optical power splitting ratio. This technique was applied for the implementation of a 4 × 4 star coupler. The flatness of the coupling ratios and excess loss were less than 1.1 and 0.5 dB, respectively.

Abstract: Using data samples of 102 x 10(6) gamma(1S) and 158 x 10(6) gamma(2S) events collected with the Belle detector, a first experimental search has been made for double-charmonium production in the exclusive decays gamma(1S, 2S) --> J/psi(psi') + X, where X = eta(c).chi(cJ) (J = 0, 1, 2), eta(c)(2S), X(3940), and X(4160). No significant signal is observed in the spectra of the mass recoiling against the reconstructed J/psi or psi' except for the evidence of chi(c1) production with a significance of 4.6 sigma for gamma(1S) -> J/psi + chi(c1). The measured branching fraction B(gamma(1S) -> J/psi + chi(c1)) is [3.90 +/- 1.21 (stat) +/- 0.23(syst) x 10(-6). The 90% C.L. upper limits on the branching fractions of the other modes having a significance of less than 3 sigma are determined. These results are consistent with theoretical calculations using the nonrelativistic QCD factorization approach.

Abstract: We report a search for charmless hadronic decays of neutral B mesons to eta ' K* (892)(0). The results are based on a 711 fb(-1) data sample that contains 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs, collected at the gamma(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy e(+)e(-) collider. We observe the decay for the first time with a significance of 5.0 standard deviations and obtain its branching fraction B[B-0 -> eta ' K* (892)(0)] = [2.6 +/- 0.7(stat) +/- 0.2(syst)] x 10(-6). We also measure the CP-violating asymmetry as A(CP) [B-0 -> eta ' K* (892)(0)] = -0.22 +/- 0.29(stat) +/- 0.07(syst).

Abstract: The cross sections of the processes e(+)e(-)-> K(+)K(-)J/Psi and K(s)(0)K(s)(0)J/Psi are measured via initial state radiation at center-of-mass energies between the threshold and 6.0 GeV using a data sample of 980 fb(-1) collected with the Belle detector on or near the r(nS) resonances, where n=1,2,..5. The cross sections for e(+)e(-)-> K(+)K(-)J/Psi are at a few pb level and the average cross section for K(s)(0)K(s)(0)J/Psi is 1.8 +/- 0.6 (stat)+/- 0.3(syst) pb between 4.4 and 5.2 GeV. All of them are consistent with previously published results with improved precision. A search for resonant structures and associated intermediate states in the cross section of the process e(+)e(-)-> K(+)K(-)J/Psi is performed.

Abstract: We report measurements of branching fractions of tau lepton decays to final states with a K-S(0) meson using a 669 fb(-1) data sample accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. The inclusive branching fraction is measured to be beta(tau(-) -> (KSX-)-X-0 nu(tau)) = (9.15 +/- 0.01 +/- 0.15) X 10(-3), where X- can be anything; the exclusive branching fractions are beta(tau(-) -> pi(-) K-S(0)nu(tau)) = (4.16 +/- 0.01 +/- 0.08) X 10(-3), beta(tau(-) -> K- K-S(0)nu(tau)) = (7.40 +/- 0.07 +/- 0.27) X 10(-4), beta(tau(-) -> pi(-) K-S(0)pi(0)nu(tau)) = (1.93 +/- 0.02 +/- 0.07) X 10(-3), beta(tau(-) -> K- K-S(0)pi(0)nu(tau)) = (7.48 +/- 0.10 +/- 0.37) X 10(-4), beta(tau(-) -> pi(-) (KSKS0)-K-0 nu(tau)) = (2.33 +/- 0.03 +/- 0.09) X 10(-4), beta(tau(-) -> pi(-) (KSKS0)-K-0 pi(0)nu(tau)) = (2.00 +/- 0.22 +/- 0.20) X 10(-5), where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. For each mode, the accuracy is improved over that of pre-B-factory measurements by a factor ranging from five to ten. In tau(-) -> pi(-) (KSKS0)-K-0 pi(0)nu(tau) decays, clear signals for the intermediate states tau(-) -> pi(-) f(1)(1285)nu(tau) and tau(-) -> K*- K-S(0)pi(0)nu(tau) are observed.

Abstract: We mapped ice shelf margins along the Queen Maud Land coast, Antarctica, in a study of ice shelf margin variability over time. Our objective was to determine the behavior of ice shelves at similar latitudes but different longitudes relative to ice shelves that are dramatically retreating along the Antarctic Peninsula, possibly in response to changing global climate. We measured coastline positions from 1963 satellite reconnaissance photography and 1997 RADARSAT synthetic aperture radar image data for comparison with coastlines inferred by other researchers who used Landsat data from the mid-1970s. We show that these ice shelves lost ∼6.8% of their total area between 1963 and 1997. Most of the areal reduction occurred between 1963 and the mid-1970s. Since then, ice margin positions have stabilized or even readvanced. We conclude that these ice shelves are in a near-equilibrium state with the coastal environment.

Abstract: Bacterial leaf spot disease (Xanthomonas campestris pv. vesicatoria; Xcv) causes severe damage to chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) and has been a major yield constraint. An introduced chilli accession 3-25-27 derived from Florida XVR 3-25 has a dominant gene, Bs2, which confers resistance to Xcv races 1, 2 and 3. To identify RAPD markers linked to Bs2, bulked segregant analysis (BSA) and random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis were performed. Isogenic DNA pools were made from 10 resistant and 10 susceptible plants in a BC 1 F 1 population derived from crosses between 3-25-27 and Early California Wonder. Two RAPD markers, OPD05 and OPF10, were identified from a total of 460 10-basepair primers. From the linkage analysis it was found that two markers were located on either side of the Bs2 gene. OPD05 was located 5.3 cM away from Bs2 gene and OPF10 was located 4.9 cM from the Bs2 on the opposite side to OPD05. For practical use, identified RAPD markers were converted to sequence characterized amplified regions (SCARs). Primer sequences with various lengths were designed and examined for their ability to detect a resistance marker. SCF10, originating from the RAPD marker OPF10, was amplified using a 24-basepair primer set, and it showed polymorphism between resistant and susceptible individuals. The initial SCARs developed from OPD05, however, showed monomorphism between resistant and susceptible plants. After trials with various primer combinations, it was possible to develop a polymorphic SCD05 marker. These markers enable the identification of the Bs2 gene on segregating progenies for marker-assisted selection.

Abstract: A new device structure for a single-electron-tunnelling transistor with a dual-gate geometry has been fabricated based on the silicon-on-insulator structure prepared by SIMOX wafers. The split gate of the transistor is the lower-level gate and located above the inversion layer 2DEG active channel, which yields strong carrier confinement with a fully controllable tunnelling potential barrier. The transistor operates at low temperatures and exhibits single-electron tunnelling behaviour through a nano-size quantum dot. The Coulomb blockade oscillation is demonstrated at 15 mK and its periodicity is 16.4 mV in the upper gate voltage. For the nonlinear transport regime, Coulomb staircases are clearly observed up to four current steps in the range of 100 mV drain-source bias. The I-V characteristics near zero bias display a typical Coulomb gap due to the one-electron charging effect. From the width of the blockade regime the dot capacitance is estimated to be .

Abstract: The stage 1 compaction behaviour of tool steel powder under die pressing was studied. The effects of friction between the powder and the die wall were also investigated under different die pressing modes. The e1astop1asticconstitutive equations based on the yield functions by Fleck et al. and by Shima and Oyane were implemented in a finite element programme to simulate die compaction processes. Finite element calculations were compared with experimental data for densification and density distributions of tool steel powder under single and double action die pressing. Abstract: We present a measurement of the charge-parity (CP) violating parameters in B0→π+π- decays. The results are obtained from the final data sample containing 772×106 BB pairs collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. We obtain the CP violation parameters ACP(B0→π+π-)=+0.33±0.06(stat)±0.03(syst),SCP(B0→π+π-)=-0.64±0.08(stat)±0.03(syst),where ACP and SCP represent the direct and mixing-induced CP asymmetries in B0→π+π- decays, respectively. Abstract: We report the results of several studies of the Λc+π+π-X final state in continuum e+e- annihilation data collected by the Belle detector. An analysis of angular distributions in Λc(2880)+→Σc(2455)0, ++π+,- decays strongly favors a Λc(2880)+ spin assignment of 52 over 32 or 12. We find evidence for Λc(2880)+→Σc(2520)0,++π+,- decay and measure the ratio of Λc(2880)+ partial widths Γ(Σc(2520)π)/Γ(Σc(2455)π)=0.225±0. 062±0.025. This value favors the Λc(2880)+ spin-parity assignment of 52+ over 52-. We also report the first observation of Λc(2940) +→Σc(2455)0,++π+,- decay and measure Λc(2880)+ and Λc(2940)+ mass and width parameters. These studies are based on a 553fb-1 data sample collected at or near the Υ(4S) resonance at the KEKB collider. © 2007 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report the first observation of the Cabibbo-suppressed decays $\Xi_c^0\rightarrow \Xi^- K^+$, $\Xi_c^0\ra\Lambda K^+ K^-$ and $\Xi_c^0\rightarrow \Lambda \phi$, using a data sample of $711\, \mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. We measure the ratios of branching fractions to be $\frac{{\cal B}(\Xi_c^0\ra \Xi^- K^+)}{{\cal B}(\Xi^0_c\ra\Xi^-\pi^+)}=(2.75\pm 0.51\pm 0.25)\times 10^{-2}$, $\frac{{\cal B}(\Xi_c^0\ra\Lambda K^+ K^-)}{{\cal B}(\Xi_c^0\rightarrow\Xi^- \pi^+)}=(2.86\pm 0.61\pm 0.24)\times 10^{-2}$ and $\frac{{\cal B}(\Xi_c^0\ra \Lambda\phi)}{{\cal B}(\Xi^0_c\ra\Xi^-\pi^+)}=(3.43\pm 0.58\pm 0.32)\times 10^{-2}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic., Comment: 8 pages, 6 figures, submitted to PRD(RC)

183. Decrease in bispectral index prior to cardiovascular collapse during Caesarean sections

Abstract: We report a case of significant reduction in bispectral index (BIS) associated with suspected amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) that occurred prior to change in haemodynamic variables. The patient was a 29-year-old nulliparous, who was admitted for Caesarean section under general anaesthesia in the 33rd week of pregnancy. After the baby was born, the BIS value suddenly decreased to 0, with suppression ratio of 100. One minute later, saturation decreased abruptly to 85%, end-tidal carbon dioxide (EtCO2) decreased to 5 mmHg, peak inspiratory pressure increased to 35 cm H2O, and non-invasive blood pressure (BP) failed to obtain a reading. After administration of vasoactive drugs, the systolic BP was maintained at 100 mmHg or higher, the BIS value rose to 10-20, and the EtCO2 increased to 24-33 mmHg. In this case, the BIS monitoring may provide an earlier warning of impending cardiovascular collapse in the case of AFE.

Abstract: We report the results of a study of the exclusive semileptonic decays ${B}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}$, ${\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}$, ${B}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\rho}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}$, ${\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\rho}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}$ and ${B}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\omega}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}$, where $\ensuremath{\ell}$ represents an electron or a muon. The events are tagged by fully reconstructing a second $B$ meson in the event in a hadronic decay mode. The obtained branching fractions are inclusive of soft photon emission. We also determine the branching fractions as a function of the 4-momentum transfer squared to the leptonic system ${q}^{2}=({p}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}+{p}_{\ensuremath{\nu}}{)}^{2}$, where ${p}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}$ and ${p}_{\ensuremath{\nu}}$ are the lepton and neutrino 4-momenta, respectively. Using the pion modes, a recent light cone sum rule calculation, lattice QCD results and a model-independent description of the hadronic form factor, a value of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|{V}_{ub}|=(3.52\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.29)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$ is extracted. A structure in the two-pion invariant mass distribution near $1.3\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}/{c}^{2}$, which might be dominated by the decay ${B}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{f}_{2}(1270){\ensuremath{\ell}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}$, ${f}_{2}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$, is seen. These results are obtained from a $711\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ data sample that contains $772\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}$ $B\overline{B}$ pairs, collected near the $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collider.

Abstract: Using samples of 102 million Υ(1S) and 158 million Υ(2S) events collected with the Belle detector, we study exclusive hadronic decays of these two bottomonium resonances to KS0K+π- and charge-conjugate (c.c.) states, π+π-π0π0, and π+π-π0, and to the two-body Vector-Pseudoscalar (K*(892)0K0+c.c., K*(892)-K ++c.c., ωπ0, and ρπ) final states. For the first time, signals are observed in the modes Υ(1S)→KS0K+π -+c.c., π+π-π0π0, and Υ(2S)→π+π-π0π0, and evidence is found for the modes Υ(1S)→π+π-π0, K*(892)0K0+c.c., and Υ(2S)→KS0K +π-+c.c. Branching fractions are measured for all the processes, while 90% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions are also set for the modes with a statistical significance of less than 3σ. The ratios of the branching fractions of Υ(2S) and Υ(1S) decays into the same final state are used to test a perturbative QCD prediction for Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka-suppressed bottomonium decays. © 2013 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report measurements of $B\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\chi}}_{c1}\ensuremath{\gamma}K$ and ${\ensuremath{\chi}}_{c2}\ensuremath{\gamma}K$ decays using $772\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}$ $B\overline{B}$ events collected at the $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collider. Evidence of a new resonance in the ${\ensuremath{\chi}}_{c1}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ final state is found with a statistical significance of $3.8\ensuremath{\sigma}$. This state has a mass of $3823.1\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.8(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.7(\mathrm{syst})\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{MeV}/{c}^{2}$, a value that is consistent with theoretical expectations for the previously unseen $1^{3}D_{2}$ $c\overline{c}$ meson. We find no other narrow resonance and set upper limits on the branching fractions of the $X(3872)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\chi}}_{c1}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ and ${\ensuremath{\chi}}_{c2}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ decays.

Abstract: We report a search for the rare decays B -> h(*) nu nubar, where h(*) stands for K+, Ks0, K*+, K*0, pi+, pi0, rho+, rho0 and phi. The results are obtained from a 711 fb-1 data sample that contains 772 million BB pairs collected at the Y(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. We search for signal candidates by fully reconstructing a hadronic decay of the accompanying B meson and requiring a single h(*) meson left on the signal side. No significant signal is observed and we set upper limits on the branching fractions at 90% confidence level. The measurements of B+ -> K*+ nu nubar, B+ -> pi+ nu nubar, B0 -> pi0 nu nubar and B0 -> rho^0 nu nubar provide the world's currently most restrictive limits.

Abstract: The cross section for ee+ e- → π+ π- J/ψ between 3.8 and 5.5 GeV is measured with a 967 fb(-1) data sample collected by the Belle detector at or near the Υ(nS) (n = 1,2,…,5) resonances. The Y(4260) state is observed, and its resonance parameters are determined. In addition, an excess of π+ π- J/ψ production around 4 GeV is observed. This feature can be described by a Breit-Wigner parametrization with properties that are consistent with the Y(4008) state that was previously reported by Belle. In a study of Y(4260) → π+ π- J/ψ decays, a structure is observed in the M(π(±)J/ψ) mass spectrum with 5.2σ significance, with mass M = (3894.5 ± 6.6 ± 4.5) MeV/c2 and width Γ = (63 ± 24 ± 26) MeV/c2, where the errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. This structure can be interpreted as a new charged charmoniumlike state.

Abstract: We report the results of a high-statistics search for $H$ dibaryon production in inclusive $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(1S)$ and $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(2S)$ decays. No indication of an $H$ dibaryon with a mass near the ${M}_{H}=2{m}_{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}$ threshold is seen in either the $H\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\Lambda}p{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ or $\ensuremath{\Lambda}\ensuremath{\Lambda}$ decay channels and 90% confidence level branching-fraction upper limits are set that are between one and two orders of magnitude below the measured branching fractions for inclusive $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(1S)$ and $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(2S)$ decays to antideuterons. Since $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(1S,2S)$ decays produce flavor-$SU(3)$-symmetric final states, these results put stringent constraints on $H$ dibaryon properties. The results are based on analyses of 102 million $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(1S)$ and 158 million $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(2S)$ events collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collider.

Abstract: We report a search for charmless hadronic decays of neutral B mesons to the final state K+K-pi(0). The results are based on a 711 fb(-1) data sample that contains 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs, and was collected at the (sic)(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. We find the first evidence for this decay with a significance of 3.5 standard deviations and measure its branching fraction as B(B-0 -> K+K-pi(0)) = [2.17 +/- 0.60(stat) +/- 0.24(syst) x 10(-6).

Abstract: We report a measurement of the inclusive semileptonic B0s branching fraction in a 121 fb⁻¹ data sample collected near the Υ(5S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy e⁺e⁻ collider. Events containing B⁰(*)sB¯¯¯⁰(*)s pairs are selected by reconstructing a tag side D⁺s and identifying a signal side lepton l⁺ (l=e, μ) that is required to have the same-sign charge to ensure that both originate from different B⁰s mesons. The B⁰s→X⁻l⁺νl branching fraction is extracted from the ratio of the measured yields of D⁺s mesons and D⁺sl⁺ pairs and the known production and branching fractions. The inclusive semileptonic branching fraction is measured to be [10.6±0.5(stat)±0.7(syst)]%.

Abstract: The cross section for ee+ e- → π+ π- J/ψ between 3.8 and 5.5 GeV is measured with a 967 fb(-1) data sample collected by the Belle detector at or near the Υ(nS) (n = 1,2,…,5) resonances. The Y(4260) state is observed, and its resonance parameters are determined. In addition, an excess of π+ π- J/ψ production around 4 GeV is observed. This feature can be described by a Breit-Wigner parametrization with properties that are consistent with the Y(4008) state that was previously reported by Belle. In a study of Y(4260) → π+ π- J/ψ decays, a structure is observed in the M(π(±)J/ψ) mass spectrum with 5.2σ significance, with mass M = (3894.5 ± 6.6 ± 4.5) MeV/c2 and width Γ = (63 ± 24 ± 26) MeV/c2, where the errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. This structure can be interpreted as a new charged charmoniumlike state.

Abstract: We measure the branching fraction of B- → τ- ν(τ) using the full Υ(4S) data sample containing 772×10(6) BB pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ e- collider. Events with BB pairs are tagged by reconstructing one of the B mesons decaying into hadronic final states, and B- → τ- ν(τ) candidates are detected in the recoil. We find evidence for B- → τ- ν(τ) with a significance of 3.0 standard deviations including systematic errors and measure a branching fraction B(B- → τ- ν(τ))=[0.72(-0.25)(+0.27)(stat)±0.11(syst)]×10(-4).

Abstract: We report the results of a high-statistics search for H dibaryon production in inclusive Υ(1S) and Υ(2S) decays. No indication of an H dibaryon with a mass near the M(H)=2m(Λ) threshold is seen in either the H→Λpπ(-) or ΛΛ decay channels and 90% confidence level branching-fraction upper limits are set that are between one and two orders of magnitude below the measured branching fractions for inclusive Υ(1S) and Υ(2S) decays to antideuterons. Since Υ(1S,2S) decays produce flavor-SU(3)-symmetric final states, these results put stringent constraints on H dibaryon properties. The results are based on analyses of 102 million Υ(1S) and 158 million Υ(2S) events collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e(+)e(-) collider.

Abstract: We have made a precise measurement of the absolute branching fractions of B-s(0) -> D-s(()*()+) D-s(()*()-) decays using 121.4 fb(-1) of data recorded by the Belle experiment running at the Upsilon(5S) resonance. The results are B(B-s(0) -> D-s(+) D-s(-)) = 0.58(-0.09)(+0.11) +/- 0.13)%, B(B-s(0) -> D-s*(+/-) D-s(-/+)) = (1.76(-0.22)(+0.23) +/- 0.40)%, and B(B-s(0) -> D-s*(+) D-s*(-)) = (1.98(-0.31-0.50)(+0.33+0.52))%; the sum is B(B-s(0) -> D-s(()*()+) D-s(()*()-)) = (4.32(-0.39-1.03)(+0.42+1.04))%. Assuming B-s(0) -> D-s(()*()+) D-s(()*()-) saturates decays to CP-even final states, the branching fraction constrains the ratio Delta Gamma(s)/cos phi(12), where Delta Gamma(s) is the difference in widths between the two B-s-(B) over bar (s) mass eigenstates, and phi(12) is the CP-violating phase in B-s-(B) over bar (s) mixing. We also measure for the first time the longitudinal polarization fraction of B-s(0) -> D-s*(+) D-s*(-); the result is 0.06(-0.17)(+0.18) +/- 0.03. DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevD.87.031101

Abstract: We search for CP violation in the decay ${D^{+}}\to K_S^0{K^{+}}$ using a data sample with an integrated luminosity of 977 fb−1 collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e + e − asymmetric-energy collider. No CP violation has been observed and the CP asymmetry in ${D^{+}}\to K_S^0{K^{+}}$ decay is measured to be (−0.25 ± 0.28 ± 0.14)%, which is the most sensitive measurement to date. After subtracting CP violation due to ${K^0}-{{\overline{K}}^0}$ mixing, the CP asymmetry in ${D^{+}}\to {{\overline{K}}^0}{K^{+}}$ decay is found to be (+0.08 ± 0.28 ± 0.14)%.

We measure the ratios of branching fractions $(\mathcal{B})\frac{\mathcal{B}(\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(2\mathrm{S})\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(1\mathrm{S})\ensuremath{\eta})}{\mathcal{B}(\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(2\mathrm{S})\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(1\mathrm{S}){\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}})}=(1.99\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.14(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.11(\mathrm{syst}))\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$ and $\frac{\mathcal{B}(\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(2\mathrm{S})\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(1\mathrm{S}){\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0})}{\mathcal{B}(\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(2\mathrm{S})\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(1\mathrm{S}){\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}})}l2.3\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$ at the 90% confidence level (CL). Abstract: We report a measurement of the amplitude ratio $r_S$ of $B^0 \to D^0K^{\ast 0}$ and $B^0 \to \bar {D^0}K^{\ast 0}$ decays with a Dalitz analysis of $D\to K_S^0\pi ^+\pi ^-$ decays, for the first time using a model-independent method. We set an upper limit $r_S < 0.87$ at the 68% confidence level, using the full data sample of $711\,{\rm fb}^{-1}$ corresponding to $772\times 10^6$ $B\bar {B}$ pairs collected at the $\Upsilon (4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. This result is obtained from observables $x_- = +0.4 ^{+1.0 +0.0}_{-0.6 -0.1} \pm 0.0$, $y_- = -0.6 ^{+0.8 +0.1}_{-1.0 -0.0} \pm 0.1$, $x_+ = +0.1 ^{+0.7 +0.0}_{-0.4 -0.1} \pm 0.1$, and $y_+ = +0.3 ^{+0.5 +0.0}_{-0.8 -0.1} \pm 0.1$, where $x_\pm = r_S \cos (\delta _S \pm \phi _3)$, $y_\pm = r_S \sin (\delta _S \pm \phi _3)$, and $\phi _3\ (\delta _S)$ is the weak (strong) phase difference between $B^0 \to D^0K^{\ast 0}$ and $B^0 \to \bar {D^0}K^{\ast 0}$.

Abstract: Introduction: Cancers display intratumoral heterogeneity which interferes with the precise analyses of the tumor entity, and which may affect therapeutic outcomes of targeted treatments. The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of single cell RNA sequencing on primary breast cancer cells and to demonstrate the key gene expression signatures and transcriptome heterogeneity of breast cancer subtypes. Methods: We performed RNA sequencing on 246 individual cells from 4 primary breast tumors and 2 metastatic lymph nodes from 4 patients, using C1™Single-Cell Auto Prep System (Fluidigm, South San Francisco, CA). RNA sequencing reads were aligned to the human genome reference (hg19) using the 2-pass default mode of STAR_2.4.0d, and gene expression was quantified by RSEM v1.2.18 as the sum of isoform expression. A total of 673 genes with enrichment score > |0.5| were selected and used as an "epithelial breast cancer" signature. Consensus clustering with the epithelial breast cancer signature separated 246 cells into 145 epithelial tumor and 101 non-tumor cell groups. Gene expression profiling in the tumor cells revealed many co-regulated genes in the estrogen receptor (ER)-positive tumor at a single cell resolution, which represent previously known ER-associated genes including MYC, BCL-2, and GATA3. Individual tumor cells from the two human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-amplified tumors demonstrated drastically different degree of HER2 signaling pathway activation, indicating the necessity of molecular subtyping for the identification of HER2-activated tumors. TNBC tumor cells showed an overall upregulation of activator protein 1 transcriptional pathway and strong activation of epithelial-mesenchymal transition signatures in a small sub-population. Immune cells comprised all the non-epithelial population, with mostly T lymphocytes in the primary tumor samples and B lymphocytes in the lymph nodes. The tumor-infiltrating T cells expressed an activated phenotype and many cytotoxic components. Altogether, the single cell RNA sequencing revealed the true identity of the tumor cells and the tumor-associated immune cells. Conclusion: Single cell RNA sequencing of breast cancer was used to reveal the true gene expression characteristics of the tumor cells and tumor-associated non-tumor compartments. The results showed key gene expression signatures of specific tumor subtypes and a wide range of transcriptome heterogeneity which is shaped by the tumor and microenvironments.
