“Lycurgus cup” effect, referring dichroism between reflection and transmission modes of the same structures, is a peculiar phenomenon of multi-faceted display in structural color. Beyond the static dichrotic display, the realization of dynamic dichroism desires active materials and tunable structures, and owns the great demand from smart display, anti-counterfeiting and environmental sensing. We hereby propose a metal-hydrogel-metal (MHM) nanocavity for dynamic dichrotic display. This structure includes thin silver layers to induce the partial transmission with the existing reflection, and a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogel layer owning the swelling/deswelling deformability to humidity change. The following experimental measurements and theoretical analysis prove that the reflection and transmission modes exist at distinct wavelengths, and the swelling hydrogel layer by humidity change between 10 and 90% RH can dynamically modulate the dichrotic resonance with the wavelength shift over 100 nm. Such environmental-sensitive and real-time tunable dichroism with hydrogel-based structural color is then verified for multi-color printing, resolution test, and cycling test.

In order to achieve the purpose of assessing the fire risk in the WUI, this paper digitizes the fire risk influencing factors based on the remote sensing data, meteorological data and vegetation information of the southwest corner of Qingyuan Mountain in Quanzhou City, and obtains a total of 8 indicators in 4 categories of meteorological factors, vegetation factors, terrain factors and human factors as the primary indicators for fire risk assessment, and divides the 4 categories of factors into natural factors and human factors as the secondary indicators to construct a hierarchical structure model. Spatial modelling was performed by ArcGIS, AHP was used to assess the fire risk in the WUI, and weighted superposition analysis was performed on the burning probabilities calculated from different fire risk factors, and finally the results of fire risk zoning in the forest-town junction domain were obtained. The results showed that the high-risk area mainly existed within the area east of Pu Xian Road to the southwest corner of Qingyuan Mountain. The assessment results show that the method can provide a reference basis for fire risk assessment and zoning in the WUI.

In order to study the effect of rolling amplitude on the heat release of aviation kerosene, an experimental oil pool was designed. The rolling frequency of the oil pool was used as a fixed amount. The rolling amplitudes were 0, 15°, 30° and 45°, respectively. The initial thickness of aviation kerosene was 0.646 mm, 1.291 mm and 1.940 mm, respectively. The results show that the heat release rate of aviation kerosene increases significantly with the increase of rolling amplitude, and the total heat release of aviation kerosene increases with the increase of swing amplitude. When the initial aviation kerosene was relatively thin, the upward trend was not obvious, with only slight changes; the thicker the oil pool is, the more obvious the upward trend is and the greater the total heat released is.

Objective: Schizophrenia (SZ) is a functional mental condition that has a significant impact on patients’ social lives. As a result, accurate diagnosis of SZ has attracted researchers’ interest. Based on previous research, resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rsfMRI) reported neural alterations in SZ. In this study, we attempted to investigate if dynamic functional connectivity (dFC) could reveal changes in temporal interactions between SZ patients and healthy controls (HC) beyond static functional connectivity (sFC) in the cuneus, using the publicly available COBRE dataset. Methods: Sliding windows were applied to 72 SZ patients’ and 74 healthy controls’ (HC) rsfMRI data to generate temporal correlation maps and, finally, evaluate mean strength (dFC-Str), variability (dFC-SD and ALFF) in each window, and the dwelling time. The difference in functional connectivity (FC) of the cuneus between two groups was compared using a two-sample t-test. Results: Our findings demonstrated decreased mean strength connectivity between the cuneus and calcarine, the cuneus and lingual gyrus, and between the cuneus and middle temporal gyrus (TPOmid) in subjects with SZ. Moreover, no difference was detected in variability (standard deviation and the amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation), the dwelling times of all states, or static functional connectivity (sFC) between the groups. Conclusions: Our verdict suggest that dynamic functional connectivity analyses may play crucial roles in unveiling abnormal patterns that would be obscured in static functional connectivity, providing promising impetus for understanding schizophrenia disease.

Summary: Aging is an inevitable process that involves profound physiological changes. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are emerging as important regulators in various biological processes but are not systemically studied in aging. To provide an organism-wide lncRNA landscape during aging, we conduct comprehensive RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) analyses across the mouse lifespan. Of the 1,675 aging-regulated lncRNAs (AR-lncRNAs) identified, the majority are connected to inflammation-related biological pathways. AR-lncRNAs exhibit high tissue specificity; conversely, those with higher tissue specificity are preferentially regulated during aging. White adipose tissue (WAT) displays the highest number of AR-lncRNAs and develops the most dynamic crosstalk between AR-lncRNA and AR-mRNA during aging. An adipose-enriched AR-lncRNA, lnc-adipoAR1, is negatively correlated with aging, and knocking it down inhibits adipogenesis, phenocopying the compromised adipogenic capacity of aged fat. Our works together reveal AR-lncRNAs as essential components in aging and suggest that although each tissue ages in a distinct manner, WAT is a leading contributor to aging-related health decline.

Background: Next generation sequencing (NGS)-based multi-gene panel tests have been performed to predict the treatment response and prognosis in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). Whether the multi-gene mutation results of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues are identical to those of fresh frozen tissues remains unknown.Methods: A 22-gene panel with 103 hotspots was used to detect mutations in paired fresh frozen tissue and FFPE tissue from 118 patients with CRC.Results: In our study, 117 patients (99.2%) had one or more variants, with 226 variants in FFPE tissue and 221 in fresh frozen tissue. Of the 129 variants identified in this study, 96 variants were present in both FFPE and fresh frozen tissues; 27 variants were found in FFPE tissues only; 6 variants were found only in fresh frozen tissues. The mutation results demonstrated >94.0% concordance in all variants, with Kappa coefficient >0.500 in 64.3% (83/129) of variants. At the gene level, concordance ranged from 73.8 to 100.0%, with Kappa coefficient >0.500 in 81.3% (13/16) of genes.Conclusions: The results of mutation analysis performed with a multi-gene panel and FFPE and fresh frozen tissue were highly concordant in patients with CRC, at both the variant and gene levels. There were, however, some important differences in mutation results between the two tissue types. Therefore, fresh frozen tissue should not routinely be replaced with FFPE tissue for mutation analysis with a multi-gene panel. Rather, FFPE tissue is a reasonable alternative for fresh frozen tissue when the latter is unavailable.

The study was aimed at exploring the effects of applying ordinary and nano zeolite on the soil pH, soil available cadmium (Cd) content, soil Cd speciation and Cd uptakes by tobacco using pot experiment with simulated Cd contaminated soil indoors. The results showed that soil pH increased and available Cd content reduced with the amount of ordinary and nano zeolite increasing. Compared with the control, the application of ordinary and nano zeolite increased soil pH at 0.47 - 1.05 and 0.73 - 1.57, respectively, and reduced the available Cd contents at 19.3% - 32.7% and 23.2% - 40.5%, respectively. The determination of structural dynamic stress spectrum is of great significance in the structural fatigue strength evaluation as well as reliability design.To evaluate structure of fatigue strength accurately,stress history on fatigue key parts of motor bogie framework was obtained through dynamic stress test of high-speed EMU on actual operation line.Fatigue damage values per kilometer of stress spectra with different grouping numbers were calculated using equidistant grouping method and Palmgren-Miner linear cumulative damage theory.Then,the effect of different group number on fatigue damage was analyzed.The results show that when the grouping number is small,it can lead to deviation of fatigue damage.As the grouping number increasing,damage decreasing,and tends to the theoretical value.This phenomenon can be interpreted by the EMU framework dynamic stress characteristic of small stress cycles high concentration.Meanwhile,an unequal distance grouping method was presented which is applicable to framework structure stress spectrum.The study can provide the basis for framework structure design.

In order to ensure safe operation of heavy haul train and maintenance cost control of coupler,sub-models containing elliptical surface crack are established on fatigue crack zones of the coupler body and knuckle. Finite element method and interaction integral method are combined to analyze the stress intensity factor of the crack’s front edge in different parts under three opening modes,and identified the main propagation form; The stress intensity factor on different crack propagation stages in the traction platform of coupler body and traction surface of knuckle are analyzed and ensure the propagation path. The results show that the main propagation is I mode in traction platform and tail hole of coupler body,traction face and traction platform of knuckle,the crack propagation in lock chamber of coupler body is mainly the composite mode of II type and III type. With the length increase of crack,the stress intensity factor at the surface tip in traction platform zone and the knuckle traction surface is greater than the value in the crack depth tip,and when the crack extend to a certain size,the length of the crack along the surface is faster than the depth direction,and the actual simulation of crack propagation path is similar to the actual growth path to verify the accuracy of numerical simulation.

This paper addresses the main crucial aspects of physical (PHY) layer channel coding in uplink NB-IoT systems. In uplink NB-IoT systems, various channel coding algorithms are deployed due to the nature of the adopted Long-Term Evolution (LTE) channel coding which presents a great challenge at the expense of high decoding complexity, power consumption, error floor phenomena, while experiencing performance degradation for short block lengths. For this reason, such a design considerably increases the overall system complexity, which is difficult to implement. Therefore, the existing LTE turbo codes are not recommended in NB-IoT systems and, hence, new channel coding algorithms need to be employed for LPWA specifications. First, LTE-based turbo decoding and frequency-domain turbo equalization algorithms are proposed, modifying the simplified maximum a posteriori probability (MAP) decoder and minimum mean square error (MMSE) Turbo equalization algorithms were appended to different Narrowband Physical Uplink Shared Channel (NPUSCH) subcarriers for interference cancellation. These proposed methods aim to minimize the complexity of realizing the traditional MAP turbo decoder and MMSE estimators in the newly NB-IoT PHY layer features. We compare the system performance in terms of block error rate (BLER) and computational complexity.
