156. Effect of alumina sol on the preparation of magnesia‐alumina spinel foam ceramics by foaming‐sol method.

Abstract

In this work, magnesia‐alumina spinel foam ceramics were prepared by foaming‐sol method using magnesia alumina spinel as raw material, anionic surfactant potassium oleate (PO) as foaming agent, and alumina sol as curing agent. The curing mechanism and the effect of alumina sol content on the stability of foam slurry and the properties of foam ceramics were investigated. In the foam slurry, the alumina sol can react with PO, so magnesia‐alumina spinel can be fixed in the foam structure through the gel network to improve the stability of the foam slurry. The gelation process reduces the viscosity of the foam slurry. The pores of magnesia‐alumina spinel foam ceramics sintered at 1500°C are mostly closed pores and the average pore was 29.7–42.1 µm. With the increase of alumina sol content, the bulk density of magnesia‐alumina spinel foam ceramics increased from 1.3 to 1.9 g/cm3, the cold compressive strength from 8.8 to 22.7 MPa, and the thermal conductivity from .417 to .806 W·m−1·K−1(350°C). Abstract

In this paper, the gas–liquid two-phase flow within a Tesla valve under zero-gravity conditions is numerically studied. Based on the VOF model and the inlet two-phase separation method, the forward and reverse flow patterns and pressure drop changes in a Tesla valve at different inlet velocities were analyzed. At an inlet velocity of 0.1–0.2 m/s, the flow pattern was slug flow, the bubbles were evenly distributed in different positions in the Tesla valve, and the velocity difference between the main pipe and the arc branch pipe was small. When the inlet velocity was 0.4 m/s, the main flow pattern was annular flow, and there was a phenomenon of gas–liquid phase separation through different flow channels, which was related to centrifugal force. At an inlet velocity of 0.6–0.8 m/s, bubbly flow and slug flow coexisted, which was related to the uneven velocity. In the study range, the difference in the forward and reverse pressure drops of two-phase flow was smaller than that of single-phase flow, and the two-phase diodicity decreased first and then increased with the change in inlet velocity, reaching minimum values of 0.78 at 0.2 m/s and 1.44 at 0.8 m/s. 159. Effect of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose addition on properties of MgAl2O4 porous insulation materials.

Abstract

This work aims at improving the energy utilization efficiency of kilns. Magnesium aluminate spinel porous insulation materials were prepared as follows. Medium-grade magnesia fine powder and calcined alumina powder were mixed in a mass ratio of 35:65, dried, and crushed into powders of d50 =2.3 µ xm. Then different amounts of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) as a foam stabilizer and 0.6 mass% potassium oleate as a foaming agent were added to obtain the foaming slurry. Finally the slurry was injected into molds of 40 mm x 40 mm x 40 mm, demolded, dried at 110 °C for 24 h, and fired at 1 500 °C for 3 h. The effects of the CMC addition (0, 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.3%, 0.4%, and 0.5%, by mass, extra adding) on the properties of the slurry and the fired samples were studied. The results show that: (1)when the CMC addition is higher than 0.1%, the slurry has decreased expansion ratio, increased viscosity, and less and smaller bubbles; (2) when the CMC addition is 0.2%, the slurry has the maximum Zeta potential absolute value of 18.3 mV, which is the most stable; the sample has the most pores, which are spherical and closed; the apparent porosity, bulk density, and cold compressive strength of the sample are 73.5%, 0.95 g • cm-3, and 13.1 MPa. In this study, we investigated whether inhibiting Cx43 expression could provide renoprotection in a mouse model of obesity-related renal injury.Methods: Five-week-old C57BL/6J mice were fed with a high-fat diet for 12 weeks to establish an obesity-related renal injury model, then they were treated with Cx43 antisense oligodeoxynucleotide (AS) or scrambled oligodeoxynucleotide (SCR) by an implanted osmotic pump for 4 weeks. Finally, the glomerular filtration function, the histological change in the glomeruli, and the markers of podocyte injury (WT-1, Nephrin) and inflammatory infiltration of renal tissue (CD68, F4/80 and VCAM-1) were examined respectively.Results: The results showed that inhibiting Cx43 expression by AS in this mouse model of obesity-related renal injury can effectively improve glomerular filtration function, alleviate glomerular expansion and podocyte injury, and attenuate the inflammatory infiltration of renal tissue.Conclusion: Our results demonstrated that inhibiting Cx43 expression by AS could provide renoprotection for the mouse model of obesity-related renal injury.Keywords: childhood obesity, obesity-related renal injury, connexin 43, antisense oligodeoxynucleotide
