In this study, the stable system of bilayer emulsion was fabricated by ultrasonic emulsification. The effect of chitosan (CS) addition (0.05 %-0.4 %, w/v) at pH 5.0 on the stability of rice bran protein hydrolysate-ferulic acid (RBPH-FA) monolayer emulsion was investigated. It was found that the addition of CS (0.3 %) could form a stable bilayer emulsion. The droplet size was 3.38 μm and the absolute ζ-potential value was 31.52 mV. The bilayer emulsion had better storage stability, oxidation stability and environmental stabilities than the monolayer emulsion. The results of in vitro simulations revealed the bilayer emulsion was able to deliver the β-carotene to the small intestine digestive stage stably and the bioaccessibility was increased from 22.34 % to 61.36 % compared with the monolayer emulsion. The research confirmed that the bilayer emulsion prepared by ultrasonic emulsification can be used for the delivery of hydrophobic functional component β-carotene.

SARS-CoV-2 causes a spectrum of clinical symptoms from respiratory damage to gastrointestinal disorders. Intestinal infection of SARS-CoV-2 triggers immune response. However, the cellular mechanism that how SARS-CoV-2 initiates and induces intestinal immunity is not understood. Here, we exploited SARS-CoV-2-GFP/ΔN trVLP pseudo-virus system and demonstrated that RIG-I and DHX15 are required for sensing SARS-CoV-2 and inducing cellular immune response through MAVS signaling in intestinal epithelial cells (IECs) upon SARS-CoV-2 infection. NLRP6 also engages in the regulation of SARS-CoV-2 immunity by producing IL-18. Furthermore, primary cellular immune response provoked by SARS-CoV-2 in IECs further cascades activation of MAIT cells and produces cytotoxic cytokines including IFN-γ, granzyme B via an IL-18 dependent mechanism. These findings taken together unveil molecular basis of immune recognition in IECs in response to SARS-CoV-2, and provide insights that intestinal immune cross-talk with other immune cells triggers amplified immunity and probably contributes to immunopathogenesis of COVID-19.

Although quartzo-feldspathic metasedimentary rocks are widespread in high pressure-ultrahigh pressure (HP-UHP) metamorphic belts worldwide, their petrogenesis and metamorphic evolution is poorly understood. We discovered an UHP eclogite-facies felsic schist in the Western Tianshan metamorphic belt, China. Petrological observations and phase equilibria modeling both indicate the felsic schist experienced UHP metamorphism in the coesite stability field. In particular, it experienced prograde metamorphism at 21–24 kbar, 445°C–470°C, a pressure peak at 25–28 kbar and 490°C–525°C, and eventually heating with decompression to 20 kbar and 560°C. The obtained clockwise P-T path was consistent with those of other lithologies (eclogite and pelitic schist) from the same belt, which provides new evidence for the coherent exhumation of the UHP unit of the Western Tianshan metamorphic belt. The final uplift of the Western Tianshan oceanic crust to the surface is attributed to fluid activity and late tectonic deformation.

ObjectivesThis study aimed to establish and validate a prognostic model based on magnetic resonance imaging and clinical features to predict the survival time of patients with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM).MethodsIn this study, a convolutional denoising autoencoder (DAE) network combined with the loss function of the Cox proportional hazard regression model was used to extract features for survival prediction. In addition, the Kaplan–Meier curve, the Schoenfeld residual analysis, the time-dependent receiver operating characteristic curve, the nomogram, and the calibration curve were performed to assess the survival prediction ability.ResultsThe concordance index (C-index) of the survival prediction model, which combines the DAE and the Cox proportional hazard regression model, reached 0.78 in the training set, 0.75 in the validation set, and 0.74 in the test set. Patients were divided into high- and low-risk groups based on the median prognostic index (PI). Kaplan–Meier curve was used for survival analysis (p = < 2e-16 in the training set, p = 3e-04 in the validation set, and p = 0.007 in the test set), which showed that the survival probability of different groups was significantly different, and the PI of the network played an influential role in the prediction of survival probability. In the residual verification of the PI, the fitting curve of the scatter plot was roughly parallel to the x-axis, and the p-value of the test was 0.11, proving that the PI and survival time were independent of each other and the survival prediction ability of the PI was less affected than survival time. The areas under the curve of the training set were 0.843, 0.871, 0.903, and 0.941; those of the validation set were 0.687, 0.895, 1.000, and 0.967; and those of the test set were 0.757, 0.852, 0.683, and 0.898.ConclusionThe survival prediction model, which combines the DAE and the Cox proportional hazard regression model, can effectively predict the prognosis of patients with GBM.

This study aimed to investigate the presence and persistence of antibiotics in wastewater of four typical pharmaceutical manufactories in China and receiving water bodies and suggest the removal of antibiotics by the wastewater treatment process. It also evaluated the environmental impact of antibiotic residues through wastewater discharge into receiving water bodies. The results indicated that thirteen antibiotics were detected in wastewater samples with concentrations ranging from 57.03 to 726.79 ng/L. Fluoroquinolones and macrolides were the most abundant antibiotic classes found in wastewater samples, accounting for 42.5% and 38.7% of total antibiotic concentrations, respectively, followed by sulfonamides (16.4%) and tetracyclines (2.4%). Erythromycin-H2O, lincomycin, ofloxacin, and trimethoprim were the most frequently detected antibiotics; among these antibiotics, the concentration of ofloxacin was the highest in most wastewater samples. No significant difference was found in different treatment processes used to remove antibiotics in wastewater samples. More than 50% of antibiotics were not completely removed with a removal efficiency of less than 70%. The concentration of detected antibiotics in the receiving water bodies was an order of magnitude lower than that in the wastewater sample due to dilution. An environmental risk assessment showed that lincomycin and ofloxacin could pose a high risk at the concentrations detected in effluents and a medium risk in their receiving water bodies, highlighting a potential hazard to the health of the aquatic ecosystem. Overall, The investigation was aimed to determine and monitor the concentration of selected antibiotics in 4 typical PMFs and their receiving water bodies, and to study the removal of these substances in PMFs. This study will provide significant data and findings for future studies on antibiotics-related pollution control and management in water bodies.

Background. Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a complex clinical syndrome of hospitalization that may be affected by undernutrition and metabolic changes. The aim of this meta-analysis was to systematically assess the association between malnutrition and the risk of prevalent AKI. Materials and Methods. We searched PubMed, Embase, Ovid MEDLINE, Web of Science, and Chinese databases (WANFANG, VIP, and CKI) from database inception until May 1, 2023, for studies evaluating the association of malnutrition with the risk of AKI. Summary odds ratios (ORs) were estimated using a random-effects model. Results. We identified 17 observational studies, which included 273,315 individuals. Compared with patients with normal nutritional status, those with malnutrition had a 125% increased risk of prevalent AKI (pooled ORs, 2.25; 95% confidence interval, 1.80–2.82). Malnutrition was also significantly associated with prevalent AKI across all subgroups when subgroup analyses were performed on covariates such as region, study design, age, sample size, malnutrition assessment method, patient characteristics, covariate adjustment degree, and risk of bias. Meta-regression models demonstrated no significant differences in AKI risk between patients with malnutrition and without malnutrition. Conclusions. Our results suggest that malnutrition may be a potential target for AKI prevention. However, well-designed studies with ethnically or geographically diverse populations are needed to evaluate strategies and interventions to prevent or slow the development and progression of AKI in malnourished individuals.

Hemerocallis is a characteristic vegetable with outstanding edible and medicinal value. Flavonoids are important bioactive components of Hemerocallis. To improve the extraction efficiency and detection accuracy of flavonoids from Hemerocallis, we established a high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) detection system, which can simultaneously detect multiple flavonoids. In addition to the previously developed organic solvent extraction method, an ultrasonic-assisted extraction technique that uses fewer samples was established to extract flavonoids from Hemerocallis. The extraction conditions of the ultrasonic-assisted extraction were optimized via a single-factor experiment and a response surface experiment. The HPLC system detected and determined the contents of rutin, isoquercetin, myricetin, quercetin, apigenin, and diosmetin from 70 Hemerocallis germplasm resources. In addition, we evaluated the antioxidant activity of flavonoids in Hemerocallis using DPPH free radical scavenging capacity with ascorbic acid (Vc) as a positive control. The results showed that the optimum conditions for the ultrasonic extraction process were as follows: sample weight of 0.25 g, ethanol volume fraction of 72%, ethanol volume of 2.5 mL, and ultrasonic extraction time of 17 min. Under these conditions, flavonoid extraction had a strong scavenging effect on DPPH. With the increase in the sample solutions’ concentrations, its antioxidant capacity was gradually enhanced, and the DPPH scavenging rate reached 70.2%. The optimized ultrasonic-assisted extraction technology can increase the total content of six flavonoids in day lily bud by 59.01%, especially the content of rutin (increased by 64.41%) in Hemerocallis flower buds. Among 70 Hemerocallis plant resources, we selected materials H0087 and H0059 with high and stable flavonoid content, with the total content of six substances being 4390.54 ug/g and 3777.13 ug/g. Thus, this study provides a reference for extracting and determining flavonoid contents in Hemerocallis materials. It also provides a theoretical basis for high-quality individual plant breeding.

The nonlinear dynamic response of a MEMS resonator with a triangular tuning comb is studied. The motion equation with dis-smooth tuning electrostatic force is derived according to Newton’s second law. The analytical solution of the periodic response is obtained using the harmonic balance method and section integral method. The singularity theory is then applied to investigate the bifurcation of the periodic response of the untuned system. The transition sets on the DC-AC voltage plane dividing the planes into several persistent regions are obtained. The bifurcation diagrams’ topological structures and jump phenomena corresponding to different parameter regions are analyzed. We explore the effects of tuning voltage on the response. This demonstrates that the amplitude–frequency curves present more hardening characteristics with increased tuning voltage. Many twists, bifurcation points, and unstable solutions appear, leading to complicated jump phenomena. Two bifurcation points exist on the response curves: the smooth and dis-smooth bifurcation points, with the latter occurring on the switching plane of non-uniform fingers.

Background: Both napping and nighttime sleep duration have been reported to be associated with cognitive function in older adults, whereas little is known about the association between daytime napping and cognitive impairment in different nighttime sleep duration subgroups. This study aimed to explore the correlation between daytime napping and cognitive impairment across nighttime sleep duration subgroups. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted by using the fourth survey of China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). We utilized the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) scale to define cognitive impairment, and the daytime napping and nighttime sleep duration was self-reported by individuals. We applied the Restricted Cubic Spline (RCS) to analysis the dose-response relationships between daytime napping and cognitive impairment. And the multivariate Logistic Regression Model (LRM) was performed to evaluate the association of daytime napping and cognitive impairment. Results: A total of 3,052 individuals were included, of which 769 were cognitive impairment. The RCS showed there were non-linear association between daytime napping and cognitive impairment in all participants group and longer nighttime sleep duration subgroup (PNon-linear < 0.05, PDaytime napping < 0.05). The LRM revealed no napping (OR = 1.62, 95%CI 1.14–2.30) and excessive napping (1.64 95%CI 1.09–2.48) were related to cognitive impairment in longer nighttime sleep duration subgroup. Conclusions: Daytime napping had nonlinear association with cognitive impairment in Chinese elderly population. No napping and excessive daytime napping (>90 minutes) were related to cognitive impairment in participants with 7 and more hours nighttime sleep duration.

Retailers grapple with inventory losses primarily due to missing items, prompting the need for efficient missing tag identification methods in large-scale RFID systems. Among them, few works considered the effect of unexpected unknown tags on the missing tag identification process. With the presence of unknown tags, some missing tags may be falsely identified as present. Thus, the system’s reliability is hardly guaranteed. To resolve these challenges, we propose an efficient early-breaking-estimation and tree-splitting-based missing tag identification (ETMTI) protocol for large-scale RFID systems. ETMTI employs innovative early-breaking-estimation and deactivation methods to swiftly handle unknown tags. Subsequently, a tree-splitting-based missing tag identification method is proposed, employing a B-ary splitting tree, to rapidly identify missing tags. Additionally, a bit-tracking response strategy is implemented to reduce processing time. Theoretical analysis is conducted to determine optimal parameters for ETMTI. Simulation results illustrate that our proposed ETMTI protocol significantly outperforms benchmark methods, offering a shorter processing time and a lower false negative rate.

The Chinese plum (Prunus salicina L.) is a fruit tree belonging to the Rosaceae family, native to south-eastern China and widely cultivated throughout the world. Fruit sugar metabolism and color change is an important physiological behavior that directly determines flavor and aroma. Our study analyzed six stages of fruit growth and development using RNA-seq, yielding a total of 14,973 DEGs, and further evaluation of key DEGs revealed a focus on sugar metabolism, flavonoid biosynthesis, carotenoid biosynthesis, and photosynthesis. Using GO and KEGG to enrich differential genes in the pathway, we selected 107 differential genes and obtained 49 significant differential genes related to glucose metabolism. The results of the correlation analyses indicated that two genes of the SWEET family, evm.TU.Chr1.3663 (PsSWEET9) and evm.TU.Chr4.676 (PsSWEET2), could be closely related to the composition of soluble sugars, which was also confirmed in the ethylene treatment experiments. In addition, analysis of the TOP 20 pathways between different growth stages and the green stage, as well as transient overexpression in chili, suggested that capsanthin/capsorubin synthase (PsCCS) of the carotenoid biosynthetic pathway contributed to the color change of plum fruit. These findings provide an insight into the molecular mechanisms involved in the ripening and color change of plum fruit.

The special characteristics of ocean ecosystems, such as the high salinity and pressure, low temperature, and nutrition, makes marine microorganisms diverse in species, gene composition, and ecological functions. Recent advances in molecular biology techniques, together with the ongoing developments in bioinformatic and automatic technologies, have highlighted the scientific studies on marine microbial ecology, eliminating the total reliance on classical cultivation-based techniques. This review systematically summarizes the innovative aspects of a field investigation of marine microorganisms. It covers various cutting-edge sampling approaches employed in the field, highlighting the in situ high-fidelity sampling strategies with practical applications. Particular emphasis is placed on the molecular analyses for marine ecology based on recently developed omics technologies. The key technical issues and substantial contribution of the contemporary instrumental analyses are discussed accordingly. It provides references for the in situ surveys of complex biogeochemical processes from marine microorganisms to ecosystems, relying on the development of new technical concepts and scientific methodologies in field investigations.

The size of snow grains is an important parameter in cryosphere studies. It is the main parameter affecting snow albedo and can have a feedback effect on regional climate change, the water cycle and ecological security. Larger snow grains increase the likelihood of light absorption and are important for passive microwave remote sensing, snow physics and hydrological modelling. Snow models would benefit from more observations of surface grain size. This paper uses an asymptotic radiative transfer model (ART model) based on MOD09GA ground reflectance data. A simulation of snow grain size (SGS) in northeast China from 2001 to 2019 was carried out using a two-channel algorithm. We verified the accuracy of the inversion results by using ground-based observations to obtain stratified snow grain sizes at 48 collection sites in northeastern China. Furthermore, we analysed the spatial and temporal trends of snow grain size in Northeastern China. The results show that the ART model has good accuracy in inverting snow grain size, with an RMSD of 65 μm, which showed a non-significant increasing trend from 2001 to 2019 in northeast China. The annual average SGS distribution ranged from 430.83 to 452.38 μm in northeast China, 2001–2019. The mean value was 441.78 μm, with an annual increase of 0.26 μm/a, showing a non-significant increasing trend and a coefficient of variation of 0.014. The simulations show that there is also intermonth variation in SGS, with December having the largest snow grain size with a mean value of 453.92 μm, followed by January and February with 450.77 μm and 417.78 μm, respectively. The overall spatial distribution of SGS in the northeastern region shows the characteristics of being high in the north and low in the south, with values ranging from 380.248 μm to 497.141 μm. Overall, we clarified the size and distribution of snow grains over a long time series in the northeast. The results are key to an accurate evaluation of their effect on snow–ice albedo and their radiative forcing effect.

Medication recommendation based on electronic health records (EHRs) is a significant research direction in the biomedical field, which aims to provide a reasonable prescription for patients according to their historical and current health conditions. However, the existing recommended methods have many limitations in dealing with the structural and temporal characteristics of EHRs. These methods either only consider the current state while ignoring the historical situation, or fail to adequately assess the structural correlations among various medical events. These factors result in poor recommendation quality. To solve this problem, we propose an augmented graph structural–temporal convolutional network (A-GSTCN). Firstly, an augmented graph attention network is used to model the structural features among medical events of patients’ EHRs. Next, the dilated convolution combined with residual connection is applied in the proposed model, which can improve the temporal prediction capability and further reduce the complexity. Moreover, the cache memory module further enhances the model’s learning of the history of EHRs. Finally, the A-GSTCN model is compared with the baselines through experiments, and the efficiency of the A-GSTCN model is verified by Jaccard, F1 and PRAUC. Not only that, the proposed model also reduces the training parameters by an order of magnitude.

In passive radio frequency identification (RFID) systems, the capture effect may occur that the reader is possible to successfully decode the strongest signal when multiple tags reply simultaneously.In this situation, the weaker signals will be covered resulting in a tag hidden problem which greatly affects the system performance.To solve the problem, a bit-detecting M-ary tree (BMT) protocol was proposed.First, a bit-detecting tag number estimation method was proposed to estimate the number of tags and group them with a few slots.Next, an M-ary tree protocol was developed to eliminate all the idle slots and identify tags quickly.At the same time, a hash muting strategy was given to mute the identified tags and label the hidden ones with small communication cost.Both theoretic analysis and simulation results demonstrate that BMT can effectively reduce the identification delay by at least 15%.

Objective: Bone regeneration involves a coordinated cascade of events that are regulated by several cytokines and growth factors, among which bone morphogenic protein-2 (BMP-2), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2) play important roles. In this study, we investigated the effects of dual release of the three growth factors on bone regeneration in femur defects. Methods: A composite consisting of Gelatin microparticles loaded with VEGF/FGF-2 and poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)-poly(ethylene glycol)-carboxyl (PLGA-PEG-COOH) microparticles loaded with BMP-2 encapsulated in a nano hydroxyapatite-poly actic-co-glycolic acid (nHA-PLGA) scaffold was prepared for the dual release of the growth factors. Results: On the 14th day, decreased release rate of BMP-2 compared with FGF-2 and VEGF was observed. However, after 14 days, compared to FGF-2 and VEGF, BMP-2 showed an increased release rate. Controlled dual release of BMP-2 and VEGF, FGF-2 resulted in a significant osteogenic differentiation of bone mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs). Moreover, effects of the composite scaffold on functional connection of osteoblast-vascular cells during bone development were evaluated. The synergistic effects of dual delivery of growth factors were shown to promote the expression of VEGF in BMSCs. Increased secretion of VEGF from BMSCs promoted the proliferation and angiogenic differentiation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) in the co-culture system. At 12 weeks after implantation, blood vessel and bone formation were analyzed by micro-CT and histology. The composite scaffold significantly promoted the formation of blood vessels and new bone in femur defects. Conclusions: These findings demonstrate that dual delivery of angiogenic factors and osteogenic factors from Gelatin and PLGA-PEG-COOH microparticles-based composite scaffolds exerted an osteogenic-angiogenic coupling effect on bone regeneration. This approach will inform on the development of appropriate designs of high-performance bioscaffolds for bone tissue engineering.

Abstract Background Clonal hematopoiesis (CH) can be found in various myeloid neoplasms (MN), such as myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), myelodysplastic syndromes/myeloproliferative neoplasms (MDS/MPN), also in pre-MDS conditions. Methods Cytogenetics is an independent prognostic factor in MDS, and fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH) can be used as an adjunct to karyotype analysis. In the past 5 years, only 35 of 100 newly diagnosed MDS and MDS/MPN patients were identified abnormalities, who underwent the FISH panel. In addition, we examined a cohort of 51 cytopenic patients suspected MDS or MDS/MPN with a 20-gene next generation sequencing (NGS), including 35 newly diagnosed MN patients and 16 clonal cytopenias of undetermined significance (CCUS) patients. Results Compared with the CCUS group, the MN group had higher male ratio (22/13 vs 10/6), cytogenetics abnormalities rate (41.4% vs 21.4%) and frequency of a series of mutations, such as ASXL1 (28.6% vs 25%), U2AF1 (25.7% vs 25%), RUNX1 (20% vs 0.0%); also, higher adverse mutations proportion (75% vs 85.2%), and double or multiple mutations (54.3% vs 43.75%). There were 7 MN patients and 4 CCUS patients who experienced cardio-cerebrovascular embolism events demonstrated a significant difference between the two groups (25% vs 20%). Ten of the 11 patients had somatic mutations, half had DNA methylation, while the other half had RNA splicing. Additionally, six patients had disease transformation, and four patients had mutated U2AF1, including two CCUS cases and two MDS-EB cases. Following up to January 2021, there was no significant difference in over survival between the CCUS and MN groups. Conclusion NGS facilitates the diagnosis of unexplained cytopenias. The monitoring and management of CCUS is necessary, also cardio-cerebrovascular embolism events in patients with CH need attention in the clinical practice.

Abstract Replacement of flammable liquid electrolytes with gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) is a promising route to improve the safety of lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs). However, polymer‐based electrolytes have limited suitability at low/high temperatures due to the instability of the polymer at high temperatures and the low ionic conductivity of the gel state at low temperatures. Herein, an integrated design of electrodes/fibrous GPEs modified with graphene oxide (GO) is reported. Due to the integrated structure of electrodes/GPEs, the strong interface affinity between electrodes and GPEs ensures that the GPEs spun on electrodes do not shrink at high temperatures (160–180°C), thus preventing a short circuit of electrodes. Moreover, after GO modification, oxygen‐containing functional groups of GO can accelerate Li+ transport of GO‐GPEs even at a low temperature of −15°C. When these GPEs are applied to flexible LIBs, the LIBs show excellent electrochemical performance, with satisfactory cycling stability of 82.9% at 1 C after 1000 cycles at 25°C. More importantly, at a high temperature of 160°C, the LIBs can also discharge normally and light the green light‐emitting diode. Furthermore, at a low temperature of −15°C, 92.7% of its room‐temperature capacity can be obtained due to the accelerated Li+ transport caused by GO modification, demonstrating the great potential of this electrolyte and integrated structure for practical gel polymer LIB applications.

Abstract Background In recent years, the incidence of pulmonary aspergilloma has increased. The harm of aspergilloma is life-threatening massive hemoptysis, and the conventional treatment is surgical treatment. However, whether the antifungal treatment after surgery is required and the course of treatment before and after surgery are still unclear. Methods In this study, patients with pulmonary aspergilloma confirmed pathologically after surgery will be selected as subjects to conduct a single-center, randomized, parallel grouping, prospective, 2-year clinical study. Through regular visits, the recurrence of aspergillus infection, quality of life, lung function indicators, safety of antifungal therapy and other indicators were recorded to evaluate the recurrence risk of aspergillus infection and safety of antifungal agents. Cox proportional risk regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors of antifungal therapy on aspergillus infection recurrence after aspergillus bulbectomy. Cox multiple regression model was used for optimal model fitting, and regression coefficient (β), relative risk (RR) and 95% confidence interval of RR were calculated. Discussion The study will explore whether antifungal therapy could improve the quality of life, reduce the recurrence of aspergillus infection, and ultimately improve the prognosis of patients with aspergilloma. The study results will provide high-quality evidence-based medical evidence for the formulation, revision and optimization of international and domestic clinical guidelines and expert consensus on chronic aspergillus lung disease, effectively improve the clinical treatment effect of aspergilloma, and form the latest concept of diagnosis and treatment of aspergilloma. Abstract Small extracellular vesicles (sEVs)-derived circular RNAs (circRNAs) could regulate gene expression in recipient cells, and dysregulation of sEVs-derived circRNAs has been implicated in several diseases. However, the expression and function of sEVs-derived circRNAs in coronary heart atherosclerotic disease (CAD) remain unknown. In this study, we investigated global changes in the expression patterns of circRNAs in sEVs from CAD-related monocytes and identified circNPHP4 as a significantly upregulated circRNA. Knockdown of circNPHP4 inhibited heterogeneous adhesion between monocytes and coronary artery endothelial cells and reduced ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 expression. Investigations of the underlying mechanisms revealed that circNPHP4 contains a functional miR-1231-binding site. Mutation of the circNPHP4-binding sites in miR-1231 abolished the interaction, as indicated by a luciferase reporter assay. Furthermore, circNPHP4 affected the expression of miR-1231 and its target gene EGFR. Overexpression of miR-1231 blocked the inhibitory effect of circNPHP4 on heterogeneous adhesion. Moreover, downregulation of miR-1231 restored heterogeneous adhesion upon inhibition by circNPHP4 silencing. Additionally, circNPHP4 overexpression was correlated with aggressive clinicopathological characteristics in CAD patients. A multivariate logistic regression model and bootstrapping validation showed that circNPHP4 overexpression had a good risk prediction capability for CAD. The decision curve analysis revealed that using the CAD nomogram that included circNPHP4 overexpression to predict the risk of CAD was beneficial. Our results suggest that sEVs-derived circNPHP4 can serve as a potential target for CAD treatments or as a potential diagnostic marker for CAD patients.

Abstract Background The long‐term trend in cancer death in a rapidly developing country provides information for cancer prophylaxis. Here, we aimed to identify the trends in cancer mortality in China during the 2004‐2018 period. Methods Using raw data from the national mortality surveillance system of China, we assessed the mortalities of all cancer and site‐specific cancers during the 2004‐2018 period. The participants were divided into three age groups: ≥65 years, 40‐64 years, and ≤39 years. Changing trends in cancer death by gender, residency, and tumor location were estimated using fitting joinpoint models to log‐transformed crude mortality rates (CMRs) and age‐standardized mortality rates (ASMRs). Results Cancer death accounted for 24% of all‐cause of death in China during 2014‐2018. The CMR of all cancer was 150.0 per 100,000 persons. Cancer was the leading cause of death in the population

Abstract Background Patients with acute large vessel occlusion (LVO) presenting with minor stroke are at risk of early neurological deterioration (END). The present study aimed to evaluate the frequency and potential predictors of END in patients with medical management and LVO presenting with minor stroke. The relationship between SVS length and END was also investigated. Methods This was a prospective multicenter study. Consecutive patients were collected with anterior circulation. LVO presented with minor stroke [National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) ≤ 4] within 24 h following onset. END was defined as a deterioration of NIHSS ≥4 within 24 h, without parenchymal hemorrhage. The length of the susceptibility vessel sign (SVS) was measured using the T2* gradient echo imaging. Results A total of 134 consecutive patients with anterior circulation LVO presenting with minor stroke were included. A total of 27 (20.15%) patients experienced END following admission. As an effective tumor-therapeutic modality, ultrasound-triggered sonodynamic therapy (SDT) has been extensively explored to induce cancer cell death by activating sonosensitizers to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS). However, the traditional inorganic semiconductor-based sonosensitizers still suffer from inefficient ROS production because of the low separation efficiency of electrons and holes (e−/h+) and their fast recombination. Herein, the iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) co-doped zinc oxide nanosonosensitizers have been rationally designed and engineered for augmenting the SDT efficiency against tumor by inducing both multiple ferroptosis and apoptosis of tumor cells. The Fe/Mn component was co-doped into the nannostructure of ZnO nanosonosensitizers, which not only catalyzed the Fenton reaction in the hydrogen peroxide-overexpressed tumor microenvironment to produce ROS, but also depleted intracellular glutathione to suppress the consumption of ROS. The doping nanostructure in the engineered nanosonosensitizers substantially augmented the SDT efficacy of ZnO nanosonosensitizers by promoting the separation and hindering the recombination of e−/h+ under ultrasound activation. The multiple ferroptosis and apoptosis in the enhanced SDT effect of Fe/Mn co-doped ZnO nanosonosensitizers were solidly demonstrated both in vitro and in vivo on tumor-bearing mice in accompany with the detailed mechanism assessment by RNA sequenching. This work provides a distinct strategy to augment the nanomedicine-enabled SDT efficency by engineering the inorganic semiconductor-based nanosonosensitizers with transitional metal doping and inducing multiple cell-death pathways including ferroptosis.

Altered glycan levels in serum have been associated with increased risk of cancer. In this study, we have developed and validated a HPLC-based method to analyze monosaccharide composition (D-mannose, Glucosamine, Galactosamine, Glucuronic acid, D-glucose, D-galactose, D-xylose, L-fucose) in human serum, with L-rhamnose, being used as internal standard. Monosaccharides obtained from hydrolyzed serum samples were derivatized by 1-Phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone. A ZORBAX XDB-C18 column(150×4.6mm) was used for chromatographic separation with 100 mM ammonium acetate buffer (NH4Ac-HAc, PH=5.5, solvent A), acetonitrile (ACN, solvent B) as a mobile phase. The calibration standard curves for the eight monosaccharides showed good linearity over the range of 2.5-500μg/mL with R2 > 0.995. The relative standard deviation values for intra-day and inter-day precision were ≤ 5.49%. Recovery was 69.01-108.96%. We observed that this column exhibited high specificity and selectivity to separate monosaccharides from serum. This method was then applied to quantitatively analyze the serum monosaccharide levels in 30 patients with endometrial cancer and 30 matched healthy controls. Statistical analysis indicated that the serum monosaccharide levels were significantly higher in patients compared with healthy controls (P value< 0.0001). Overall, we report here a simple, reliable, low-cost, and reproducible HPLC method for the separation and quantification monosaccharides in the human serum, which has potential value to serve as a screening marker for endometrial cancer.

The effects of air-entraining agent (AEA) and polypropylene fiber (PPF) on the autogenous shrinkage and fracture properties of fully recycled aggregate concrete (FRAC) are studied to obtain FRAC with low density, low autogenous shrinkage, and superior fracture properties. Six groups of FRAC with different AEA (0, 5%, 10%) and PPF (0, 1.2 kg/m3) contents were prepared for test. The results illustrate that AEA can slightly reduce density but that it has an adverse effect on the strength and fracture properties of FRAC. The incorporation of PPFs can reduce the adverse effect of AEA on compressive strength and splitting tensile strength, but it will increase the adverse effect on fracture properties. Furthermore, the addition of PPFs alone will significantly reduce compressive strength and splitting tensile strength, whereas flexural strength and fracture properties are increased. The addition of AEA can improve the adverse effect of PPFs on compressive strength and splitting tensile strength, but flexural strength and fracture properties will decrease rather than increase. The addition of 10% AEA can greatly reduce autogenous shrinkage, and 5% AEA can reduce autogenous shrinkage at an early age. Incorporating PPFs can further reduce autogenous shrinkage. The study mainly examines the effects of AEA and PPF on the autogenous shrinkage of FRAC, and provides some new ideas for producing high-performance FRAC. At the same time, the cooperative effect of AEA and PPF on the properties of FRAC is also studied.

Abstract Background Anti-inflammatory approaches are emerging as a new strategy for the treatment of depressive disorders. Ginsenoside Rb1 (GRb1), a major component of Panax ginseng, can inhibit inflammatory cascade and alleviate depressive-like behaviors. Microglia can promote or inhibit adult hippocampal neurogenesis according to their functional phenotypes. Here, we examine whether GRb1 may exert antidepressant effects by promoting a pro-neurogenic phenotype of microglia and thereby increasing neurogenesis. Methods The antidepressant effects of GRb1 or the licensed antidepressant imipramine (IMI) were assessed in chronic mild stress (CMS)-exposed male mice. The depressive-like behaviors of mice were evaluated by sucrose preference test, forced swimming test (FST), and tail suspension test (TST). The microglial phenotypes were identified by pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokine expression and morphological properties, analyzed by RT-qPCR, western blotting, and immunofluorescence staining. The effect of GRb1-treated microglia on adult hippocampal neurogenesis in vivo and in vitro was detected using immunofluorescence staining. Results Behavioral assessment indicated that GRb1 or IMI treatment alleviated depressive-like behaviors in CMS-exposed mice. Immunofluorescence examination demonstrated that GRb1 induced a pro-neurogenic phenotype of microglia via activating PPARγ in vivo and in vitro, which were effectively reversed by the PPARγ inhibitor GW9662. In addition, GRb1-treated microglia increased the proliferation and differentiation of neural precursor cells. Conclusions These findings demonstrated that GRb1 alleviated depressive-like behaviors of CMS-exposed male mice mainly through PPARγ-mediated microglial activation and improvement of adult hippocampus neurogenesis.

Abstract Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is the most common gastrointestinal disorder significantly decreasing patients’ lives of quality and placing huge economic burden on our society. Existing studies indicated that the therapeutic effects maintained for a period of time after the treatments were discontinued. It is clinically important to assess these post-treatment therapeutic effects (PTTE), which prevent IBS from relapsing. To assess the PTTE in pinaverium treatment and obtain high-quality evidence to justify the use of PTTE for long-term IBS management, we performed this controlled, double blind study on patients with IBS who were randomized to pinaverium 50 mg (n = 132) or placebo (n = 132), three times daily, for 4 weeks, and were followed up for 57 weeks after the treatments. The primary endpoints were abdominal pain and stool consistency. The secondary endpoints were pain frequency and stool frequency. The tertiary endpoints were global overall symptom and adverse events. Three days after pinaverium was discontinued, endpoints rebounded only 23.2–42.8% (P 0.05)], during which an average of 51.5–56.4% of patients (pool pinaverium and placebo data together) had IBS symptoms. These results provide clinical insights into efficient and cost-effective management of refractory IBS, and lend support to the IBS management that the selection of a therapy should consider both its effectiveness during treatment and its PTTE after the treatment. Abstract Previous neuroimaging studies demonstrated that patients with strabismus or amblyopia can show significant functional and anatomical changes in the brain, but alterations of interhemispheric functional connectivity (FC) have not been well studied in this population. The current study analyzed whole-brain changes of interhemispheric FC in children with strabismus and amblyopia (CSA) using voxel-mirrored homotopic connectivity (VMHC).A total of 24 CSA (16 males and 8 females) and 24 normal controls (NCs) consisting of 16 and 8 age-, sex, and education-matched males and females, respectively, underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scans in the resting state. According to Gaussian random field theory, changes in the resting state FC (rsFC) between hemispheres were evaluated using the VMHC method. The relationships between mean VMHC values in multiple brain regions and behavioral performance were evaluated by Pearson correlation analysis. In contrast to NCs, the CSA group showed significantly decreased VMHC values in the bilateral cerebellum, bilateral frontal superior orbital (frontal sup orb), bilateral temporal inferior(temporal inf),and bilateral frontal superior(frontal sup). CSA have abnormal interhemispheric FC in many brain regions, which may reflect dysfunction of eye movements and visual fusion. These findings might provide insight into the underlying pathogenetic mechanisms of CSA.

Steel-fiber-reinforced recycled coarse aggregate concrete (SFRCAC) has great potential for use in structural members due to environmental and economic reasons. A comparison of SF’s reinforcing effect on the strength of RCAC with natural recycled coarse aggregate concrete (NCAC) was conducted through experiments and analysis. Three types of steel fiber—milling (MF), shear-wave (SWF), and both-end hooked (BF)—were used. The SF volume fraction (Vf) was taken as 0, 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%, and 2%. The results show that SF has a similar reinforcing effect on NCAC and RCAC. The reinforcing effect of SF on the strength of RCAC is relevant to the strength of the RCAC matrix. The suitable content range of SF is from 0.5% to 1.5% in terms of the reinforcement effects on the compressive strength (ffcu) and splitting tensile strength (ffts) of RCAC. SF with a higher aspect ratio (AR) has a better reinforcing effect on the splitting tensile strength (ffts) and flexural strength (fftm) of RCAC. The equations of ffts/fts and fftm/ftm with the characteristic parameters of steel fiber (λf) were put forward to accurately determine the dosage of SF.

Snow cover has significantly changed due to global warming in recent decades, causing large changes in the vegetation ecosystem. However, the impact of snow cover changes on the spring phenology of different vegetation types in Northeast China remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the response of the start of the growing season (SOS) to different snow cover indicators using partial correlation analysis and stepwise regression analysis in Northeast China from 1982 to 2015 based on multiple remote sensing datasets. Furthermore, we revealed the underlying mechanisms using a structural equation model. The results show that decreased snow cover days (SCD) and an advanced snow cover end date (SCED) led to an advanced SOS in forests. Conversely, an increased SCD and a delayed SCED led to an advanced SOS in grasslands. The trends of SCD and SCED did not exhibit significant changes in rainfed cropland. The maximum snow water equivalent (SWEmax) increased in most areas. However, the proportion of the correlation between SWEmax and SOS was small. The impact of snow cover changes on the SOS varied across different vegetation types. Snow cover indicators mainly exhibited positive correlations with the SOS of forests, including deciduous broadleaf forests and deciduous coniferous forests, with positive and negative correlations of 18.61% and 2.58%, respectively. However, snow cover indicators mainly exhibited negative correlations in the SOS of grasslands and rainfed croplands, exhibiting positive and negative correlations of 4.87% and 13.06%, respectively. Snow cover impacted the SOS through the “temperature effect” in deciduous broadleaf forests, deciduous coniferous forests, and rainfed croplands, while it affected SOS through the “moisture effect” in grasslands. These results provide an enhanced understanding of the differences in snow cover changes affecting SOS in different vegetation types under climate change in Northeast China.

The Riesz space-fractional derivative is discretized by the Fourier pseudo-spectral (FPS) method. The Riesz space-fractional nonlinear Klein–Gordon–Zakharov (KGZ) and Klein–Gordon–Schrödinger (KGS) equations are transformed into two infinite-dimensional Hamiltonian systems, which are discretized by the FPS method. Two finite-dimensional Hamiltonian systems are thus obtained and solved by the second-order average vector field (AVF) method. The energy conservation property of these new discrete schemes of the fractional KGZ and KGS equations is proven. These schemes are applied to simulate the evolution of two fractional differential equations. Numerical results show that these schemes can simulate the evolution of these fractional differential equations well and maintain the energy-preserving property.

This paper presents an enhanced YOLOX-based algorithm for pest detection, adopting a nature-inspired approach for refining its methodology. To tackle the limited availability of image data pertaining to pests and diseases, the paper incorporates Mosaic and Mixup technologies for effective image preprocessing. Furthermore, a novel training strategy is proposed to enhance the overall quality of the results. The existing architecture is enriched by integrating shallow information, while the CLT module is devised to facilitate cross-layer fusion and extract essential feature information. This advancement enables improved object detection across various scales. Additionally, the paper optimizes the original PFPN structure by eliminating the convolutional layer preceding upsampling, enhancing the C3 module, and integrating the convolutional attention model (CBAM) to identify salient regions within complex scenes. The performance of the proposed CLT-YOLOX model is extensively evaluated using the IP102 dataset, demonstrating its effectiveness. Notably, the model exhibits significant improvements compared to the original AP evaluation index, with an increase of 2.2% in average precision (mAP) and 1.8% in AP75. Furthermore, favorable results are achieved in the COCOmAP index, particularly in the APsmall category where there is a 2.2% improvement in performance.

Tower foundations are generally of a cast-in-place structure with the disadvantages of low industrialization level and long construction period. The development of prefabricated foundation for transmission line projects is efficient to improve the industrialization level of the construction of tower foundation. In this study, the schemes of post-pouring belt U-shaped steel connection, post-pouring belt lap connection, grouting sleeve connection, and post-tensioned bond prestressed reinforcement connection, which have been widely used on building structures, are newly proposed to apply on plate foundation. The schemes were compared on processing, transporting, on-site constructing and performance. The pseudo-static tests on cast-in-place plate strip, post-pouring belt U-shaped steel connection and post-pouring belt lap connection plate strip were carried out. The results revealed that all the test plate bands were damaged in the bending mode, same as that of ordinary concrete. When U-shaped steel is adopted, more than 90% of the cast-in-place bearing capacity can be reached. The initial stiffness of prefabricated plate strip and cast-in-place strip is basically the same. The load-bearing capacity of the component is relevant to the anchorage length of the U-shaped steel. Although increasing the concrete strength of post-cast belt can improve the ultimate bearing capacity and shorten the construction period, the deformation capacity is reduced. Compared to other connection methods, post-pouring belt U-shaped steel connections have the advantage of simple construction, higher bearing capacity and stability. In summary, the post-pouring belt U-shaped steel connection scheme is recommended.

The invasion of agricultural diseases and insect pests is a huge difficulty for the growth of crops. The detection of diseases and pests is a very challenging task. The diversity of diseases and pests in terms of shapes, colors, and sizes, as well as changes in the lighting environment, have a massive impact on the accuracy of the detection results. We improved the C2F module based on DenseBlock and proposed DCF to extract low-level features such as the edge texture of pests and diseases. Through the sensitivity of low-level features to the diversity of pests and diseases, the DCF module can better cope with complex detection tasks and improve the accuracy and robustness of the detection. The complex background environment of pests and diseases and different lighting conditions make the IP102 data set have strong nonlinear characteristics. The Mish activation function is selected to replace the CBS module with the CBM, which can better learn the nonlinear characteristics of the data and effectively solve the problems of gradient disappearance in the algorithm training process. Experiments show that the advanced Yolov8 algorithm has improved. Comparing with Yolov8, our algorithm improves the MAP50 index, Precision index, and Recall index by 2%, 1.3%, and 3.7%. The model in this paper has higher accuracy and versatility.

Abstract Background Prenatal anxiety is one of the most prevalent mental disorders during pregnancy. This study assessed the prevalence of prenatal anxiety and examined whether resilience could play the mediating role in the association between self-efficacy and symptoms of prenatal anxiety among pregnant women in China. Methods A nationwide smartphone cross-sectional study was carried out in three cities (Shenyang of Liaoning Province, Zhengzhou of Henan Province and Chongqing Municipality) in China from July 2018 to July 2019. The questionnaire consisted of questions on demographic characteristics, the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7), the Chinese version of General Self-efficacy Scale (GSES), and the 14-item Wagnild and Young Resilience Scale (RS-14). A total of 665 pregnant women were recruited in this study. A hierarchical multiple regression model was employed to explore the associate factors and mediators of symptoms of prenatal anxiety. A structural equation model was employed to test the hypothesis that resilience mediates the association between self-efficacy and symptoms of prenatal anxiety. Abstract Most human diseases are systems diseases, and systems biomarkers are better fitted for diagnostic, prognostic, and treatment monitoring purposes. To search for systems biomarker candidates, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), a housekeeping protein expressed in all living cells, was investigated. To this end, we analyzed the serum LDH activities from 172,933 patients with 48 clinically defined diseases and 9528 healthy individuals. Based on the median values, we found that 46 out of 48 diseases, leading by acute myocardial infarction, had significantly increased (p 0.8) for hepatic encephalopathy and lung fibrosis.

Abstract Two-dimensional MXene-based materials are potential of presenting unique catalytic performances of electrocatalytic reactions. The surface functionalization of MXene-based catalysts is attractive for developing efficient electrocatalysts toward nitrogen reduction reaction. Herein, we reported a Ti3C2Tx MXene with a medium density of surface functionalized fluorine terminal groups, as an excellent N2 reduction reaction electrocatalyst with enhanced adsorption and activation of N2. The Ti3C2Tx MXene catalyst showed a production rate of ammonia as 2.81 × 10–5 μmol·s−1·cm−2, corresponding to a partial current density of 18.3 μA·cm−2 and a Faradic efficiency of 7.4% at − 0.7 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode in aqueous solutions at ambient conditions, substantially exceeding similar Ti3C2Tx MXene catalysts but with higher or lower densities of surface fluorine terminal groups. Our work suggests the capability of developing surface functionalization toolkit for enhancing electrochemical catalytic activities of two-dimensional MXene-based materials.

Programmed necrosis is a new modulated cell death mode with necrotizing morphological characteristics. Receptor interacting protein 1 (RIPK1) is a critical mediator of the programmed necrosis pathway that is involved in stroke, myocardial infarction, fatal systemic inflammatory response syndrome, Alzheimer’s disease, and malignancy. At present, the reported inhibitors are divided into four categories. The first category is the type I ATP-competitive kinase inhibitors that targets the area occupied by the ATP adenylate ring; The second category is type Ⅱ ATP competitive kinase inhibitors targeting the DLG-out conformation of RIPK1; The third category is type Ⅲ kinase inhibitors that compete for binding to allosteric sites near ATP pockets; The last category is others. This paper reviews the structure, biological function, and recent research progress of receptor interaction protein-1 kinase inhibitors.

ObjectivesMultimorbidity (MMD) is a medical condition that is linked with high prevalence and closely related to many adverse health outcomes and expensive medical costs. The present study aimed to construct Bayesian networks (BNs) with Max-Min Hill-Climbing algorithm (MMHC) algorithm to explore the network relationship between MMD and its related factors. We also aimed to compare the performance of BNs with traditional multivariate logistic regression model.MethodsThe data was downloaded from the Online Open Database of CHARLS 2018, a population-based longitudinal survey. In this study, we included 10 variables from data on demographic background, health status and functioning, and lifestyle. Missing value imputation was first performed using Random Forest. Afterward, the variables were included into logistic regression model construction and BNs model construction. The structural learning of BNs was achieved using MMHC algorithm and the parameter learning was conducted using maximum likelihood estimation.ResultsAmong 19,752 individuals (9,313 men and 10,439 women) aged 64.73 ± 10.32 years, there are 9,129 ones without MMD (46.2%) and 10,623 ones with MMD (53.8%). Logistic regression model suggests that physical activity, sex, age, sleep duration, nap, smoking, and alcohol consumption are associated with MMD (P < 0.05). BNs, by establishing a complicated network relationship, reveals that age, sleep duration, and physical activity have a direct connection with MMD. It also shows that education levels are indirectly connected to MMD through sleep duration and residence is indirectly linked to MMD through sleep duration.ConclusionBNs could graphically reveal the complex network relationship between MMD and its related factors, outperforming traditional logistic regression model. Besides, BNs allows for risk reasoning for MMD through Bayesian reasoning, which is more consistent with clinical practice and thus holds some application prospects.

Autophagy is a self-degradation process in which damaged proteins and organelles are engulfed into autophagosomes for digestion and eventually recycled for cellular metabolism to maintain intracellular homeostasis. Accumulating studies have reported that autophagy has the Janus role in cancer as a tumor suppressor or an oncogenic role to promote the growth of established tumors and developing drug resistance. Importantly, cytoprotective autophagy plays a prominent role in many types of human cancers, thus inhibiting autophagy, and has been regarded as a promising therapeutic strategy for cancer therapy. Here, we focus on summarizing small-molecule compounds inhibiting the autophagy process, as well as further discuss other dual-target small-molecule compounds, combination strategies, and other strategies to improve potential cancer therapy. Therefore, these findings will shed new light on exploiting more small-molecule compounds inhibiting cytoprotective autophagy as candidate drugs for fighting human cancers in the future.

Taohong siwu decoction (THSWD) has been shown to have a therapeutic effect on ischemic strokes (IS). However, it is not clear to us whether THSWD reduces deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) damage after stroke and reduces the inflammatory response caused by the damage. Therefore, we constructed an IS model (I/R) in rats and performed oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) on BV2 cells. Then ELISA, immunofluorescence staining, immunohistochemistry staining, and RT-qPCR were performed to detect the expressions of absent in melanoma 2 (AIM2), NLRC4, and Caspase-1 inflammasomes and other inflammatory factors. Experimental stroke causes DNA damage, and we found that the aforementioned inflammasomes as well as inflammatory factors were significantly inhibited after treatment with THSWD by comparing the model group with the model administration group. In addition, we examined the expression of AIM2, NLRC4, and Caspase-1 in BV2 cells of OGD/R and found that the expression of the aforementioned inflammasomes was significantly decreased in OGD/R by administration of THSWD-containing serum. Our data suggest that THSWD can reduced DNA damage after stroke as well as the inflammatory response caused by the damage.

BackgroundTo date, no in-depth study has been conducted on the intrinsic pathological relationship between altered brain activity and related behavioral changes in patients with orbital fracture (OF).PurposeThe present research aimed to explore the potential functional network cerebrum activities in patients with OF using resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging–fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (rsfMRI-fALFF). This technique can reveal dynamic functional changes in specific cerebrum areas.MethodsTwenty patients with OF and 20 healthy controls (HCs) were included, closely matched in terms of gender, age, weight, and education level. To record spontaneous cerebral activity changes, the rsfMRI-fALFF tool was applied. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and Pearson's correlation analysis were used to analyze mean fALFF values in specific cerebrum regions and to explore changes of behavioral changes in patients with OF. The Hospital Depression and Anxiety scale was applied to reveal the relationship between emotional states and fALFF values of the right superior temporal gyrus in patients with OF.ResultsIn comparison with HCs, significantly lower fALFF values were detected in the left anterior cingulate gyrus (LACG) and right superior temporal gyrus (RSTG) in patients with OF. ROC curve analysis showed excellent accuracy. The mean fALFF values of the RSTG negatively correlated with the depression score as well as the anxiety score.ConclusionThe finding of abnormal spontaneous activities in cerebral regions may contribute to more comprehensive understanding of the potential neural network changes in patients with OF. The changes of fALFF value in patients with OF may help to gauge their emotional changes and clinical recovery levels.

The rotor system is a core part of rotating machinery equipment. Its safe and reliable operation directly affects the economic benefit of using the equipment and the personal safety of users. To fully explore the complex feature mapping relationship between rotor vibration signals and fault types, rotor vibration signals were studied under different working conditions from the perspective of feature parameter construction and feature information mining. First, a variational mode decomposition algorithm was used to decompose the vibration signals, and quantum behavior particle swarm optimization was used to minimize the mean envelope entropy of intrinsic mode function components to determine the optimal combination of modal number and penalty coefficient. Second, the principal component analysis was used to reduce the dimensionality of IMF components of vibration signals. Finally, a support vector machine was used to mine the feature mapping relationship between vibration data after dimensionality reduction and rotor operation state to accurately identify rotor fault types. The proposed method was used to analyze the measured vibration signals of the rotor system. The experimental results showed that the proposed method effectively extracted characteristic information of the rotor running state from the vibration data, and the accuracies of four types of fault diagnoses were 100%, 88.89%, 100%, and 100%, respectively. In addition, the accuracies of the four fault diagnoses in this study were better than those of the previously reported models.

Global warming greatly affects the development of rice at different growth stages, thereby deteriorating rice quality. However, the effect of high natural field temperature during reproductive stages on rice quality is unclear. Thus, grain filling dynamics, source-sink characteristics and quality-related traits were compared between two contrasting natural field temperature conditions namely normal (low temperature) (LRT) and hot (high temperature) growth season (HRT) during reproductive stage. Compared with LRT, HRT significantly increased chalky grain rate (about 1.6–3.1%), chalkiness level (about 4.7–22.4%), protein content (about 0.93–1.07%), pasting temperature, setback, and consistence, and decreased total starch content (about 4.6–6.2%). Moreover, HRT significantly reduced the leaf area index (LAI, about 0.54–1.11 m2 m–2), specific leaf weight (SLW, about 1.27–1.44 mg cm–2) and source-sink ratio (leaf-sink ratio and/or stem-sink ratio), shortened the active grain filling period by 3.1–3.2 days, and reduced the rations of dry matter translocation to grain (RDMs). In conclusion, we suggested that significant reduction in assimilate translocation after flowering, resulting in the reduced active grain-filling duration and the poor rice quality (high chalkiness and the poor eating and cooking quality), modulated by source-sink characteristics in response to high natural field temperature during reproductive stage. These results enriched the study of high temperature-stressed rice and served as an important reference for selecting high-quality, heat-tolerant varieties and protecting rice quality under high-temperature conditions.

With the acceleration of urbanization, the urban land area of different spatial scales in China continues to increase, the urban land use efficiency is relatively low, and there are great regional differences. Land is an important material carrier for human production, life, and socio-economic activities. Reasonable measurement of the green utilization efficiency of urban land (Glande) has important theoretical and practical significance for the realization of urban land green use and the formulation of related policies. In this context, based on the publicly available data of 282 China’s cities at prefecture-level and above from 2009 to 2019, this study measures Glande with the Super-SBM data envelopment analysis model. After analyzing the spatio-temporal evolution characteristics of Glande, we employ the spatial dynamic Durbin model to analyze the spatial spillover effects. The results showed that: 1) Glande in China shows a fluctuating and rising trend, but it has not reached the effective state; 2) the agglomeration characteristics of urban land green use efficiency are significant, and from a regional point of view, it shows the pattern of western > eastern > central; 3) Glande is the result of the interaction of many factors. In the future, measures should be taken according to urban policies and local conditions, and differential measures should be taken to improve Glande.

BackgroundMyelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are a heterogeneous spectrum of clonal hematopoietic disorders with varying degrees of cytopenia and morphologic dysplasia. The controlling nutritional status (CONUT) score, an easy-to-use tool for assessing the nutritional status, was reported as an independent prognostic factor in cancer patients. However, its role in patients with MDS is unclear.ObjectiveWe aimed to explore the impact of CONUT score on the prognosis of patients with MDS, which is of great significance for clinical treatment.MethodsA total of 121 patients with MDS were analyzed. The CONUT score was calculated prior to therapy. The bio-informatics tool X-tile was used to define the CONUT score and the threshold of 4 points was determined to predict the prognosis. Patients were divided into CONUTlow and CONUThigh groups, and the characteristics were compared between two groups.ResultsResults show that CONUTlow was associated with better overall survival (OS) than CONUThigh patients (Median OS, 30.20 vs. 19.63 months, p = 0.0003). However, there were no statistical differences in progression-free survival (PFS) between the two groups (p = 0.2683). Results of univariate and multivariate COX proportional hazard analysis adjusted for bone marrow blasts level, platelet count, International Prognostic Scoring System (IPSS) scores, gender, and hemoglobin (Hb) level showed that the CONUT score was useful in the evaluation standard of OS of MDS (hazard ratio (HR) 2.297, 95% CI 1.441–3.663, p < 0.001).ConclusionsThe CONUT, as a novel immuno-nutritional biomarker, may be useful in predicting the OS of MDS.
