In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant BASF SE submitted a request to the competent national authority in Germany to modify the existing maximum residue level (MRL) for the active substance boscalid in honey and other apiculture products. The data submitted in support of the request were found to be sufficient to derive an MRL proposal for honey from field studies. This MRL proposal covers residues measured in honey samples analysed in the framework of EU National Monitoring Programmes. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of boscalid in honey at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg. According to Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, EFSA has reviewed the maximum residue levels (MRLs) currently established at European level for the pesticide active substance hymexazol. To assess the occurrence of hymexazol residues in plants, processed commodities, rotational crops and livestock, EFSA considered the conclusions derived in the framework of Commission Regulation (EC) No 33/2008 as well as the European authorisations reported by Member States (including the supporting residues data). In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant FMC Agro Ltd submitted a request to the competent national authority in the United Kingdom to set import tolerances for the active substance chlorantraniliprole in oil palms fruits and oil palms kernels. The data submitted in support of the request were found to be sufficient to derive maximum residue level (MRL) proposals for these products. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of chlorantraniliprole in the commodities under consideration at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg. According to Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, EFSA has reviewed the maximum residue levels (MRLs) currently established at European level for the pesticide active substance penflufen. To assess the occurrence of penflufen residues in plants, processed commodities, rotational crops and livestock, EFSA considered the conclusions derived in the framework of Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 and Commission Regulation (EU) No 188/2011, as well as the European authorisations reported by Member States (including the supporting residues data). Based on the assessment of the available data, MRL proposals were derived and a consumer risk assessment was carried out. Although no apparent risk to consumers was identified, some information required by the regulatory framework was missing. The applicant DuPont de Nemours (Deutschland) GmbH submitted a request to the competent national authority in Austria to evaluate confirmatory data identified for cymoxanil in the framework of the maximum residue level (MRL) review under Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 and implemented in the EU MRL Regulation. To address the data gap on table and wine grapes, lettuce and spinach, the applicant submitted new residue trials for cymoxanil on these commodities. The data gap was considered satisfactorily addressed. Confirmatory data on analytical methods for enforcement in hops and herbal infusions (dried flower), and storage stability data in dry matrices were not submitted with the present application. The applicant BASF SE submitted a request to the competent national authority in the Netherlands to evaluate the confirmatory data that were identified for active substance metazachlor in the framework of the review of maximum residue levels (MRLs) under Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 as not available. The data gaps identified during the MRL review were satisfactorily addressed for flowering brassica, head cabbages, kales and kohlrabies. The applicant no longer supported the uses on radishes, turnips, horseradishes and swedes assessed during the MRL review. In addition, in accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant submitted a request to modify the existing MRLs in turnips, swedes, horseradishes and leeks to reflect intended new uses. Nevertheless, the residue data submitted were not fully compliant with the currently applicable data requirements. For turnips, horseradishes and swedes, the applicant and the Netherlands requested EFSA to present the data and the deficiencies identified to allow risk managers to take an informed decision on the appropriate MRLs. A change of the existing MRLs for liver of swine and ruminants resulting from the authorised and intended uses of metazachlor is also proposed. EFSA updated the most recent consumer risk assessment for metazachlor and concluded that the long‐term and short‐term dietary intake is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant BASF SE submitted an application to the competent national authority in the Netherlands to modify the existing maximum residue levels (MRLs) for bentazone in soyabeans and poppy seeds. The data submitted in support of the request were found to be sufficient to derive MRL proposals for both commodities. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of bentazone and its metabolites in plant matrices under consideration. The studies requested by EFSA in the framework of the peer review to address the toxicological properties of metabolite 6‐hydroxy‐bentazone were only partially provided. Instead of studies investigating the general toxicity of this metabolite, the applicant provided an argumentation to justify read‐across from the available information on parent bentazone and 8‐hydroxy‐bentazone. EFSA did not agree with the provided reasoning for read‐across. Therefore, the EMS asked EFSA to continue the assessment despite the data gap. EFSA performed an indicative short‐term and long‐term dietary risk assessment; the calculated dietary exposure was well below the toxicological reference values. The applicant Dow AgroSciences submitted a request to the competent national authority in France to evaluate the confirmatory data that were identified for oryzalin in the framework of the maximum residue level (MRL) review under Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 as not available. To address the data gaps identified, residue trials on apples were submitted which are appropriate to conclude on the residue situation in kiwi fruits; furthermore, new residue trials on asparagus and on bananas were also provided. The information submitted to address the primary crop metabolism on asparagus was considered not sufficient to elucidate the nature of residues expected in asparagus. Thus, since the data gap for asparagus was not fully addressed, risk managers may consider the deletion of the existing MRL. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the Federal Public Service Health, Food chain Safety and Environment of Belgium, submitted an application to modify the existing maximum residue levels (MRLs) for the active substance flonicamid in blueberries, cranberries, currants, gooseberries and strawberries. The data submitted in support of the request were found to be sufficient to derive MRL proposals for the crops assessed. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of flonicamid in plant matrices under consideration at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg for each analyte included in the residue definition (combined LOQ of 0.03 mg/kg). Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concluded that the short‐term and long‐term intake of residues resulting from the use of flonicamid according to the reported agricultural practices is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health. The data submitted in support of the request were found to be sufficient to derive MRL proposals for grapefruits, oranges, lemons, limes and mandarins. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of acequinocyl in the commodities under consideration at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant Du Pont de Nemours GmbH submitted two requests to the competent national authority in Ireland to modify the existing EU maximum residue levels (MRLs) and to set import tolerances for oxathiapiprolin in various plant commodities in order to accommodate the intended EU uses and the authorised uses of this active substance in China, Canada and the United States. The data submitted in support of the request were found to be sufficient to derive MRL proposals for all crops under consideration, except for Brussels sprouts and peas (without pods), for which residue data were either not submitted or were insufficient to support the use. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of oxathiapiprolin in commodities under consideration at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concluded that, taking into account the existing and the intended uses, the long‐term intake of residues of oxathiapiprolin is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant Adama Agan Ltd submitted a request to the competent national authority in Italy to modify the existing maximum residue levels (MRLs) for propaquizafop/quizalofop in lettuces and salad plants to accommodate the intended SEU use of propaquizafop. The data submitted in support of the request were found to be sufficient to derive MRL proposals of 0.15 mg/kg for the intended SEU use of propaquizafop for the crops belonging to the crop group of lettuces and salad plants. The MRL proposals are expressed for a common residue definition that covers quizalofop and propaquizafop. Since the EU MRL is set at a higher level of 0.20 mg/kg, no modification of the MRL is currently required for the intended use. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of propaquizafop, expressed as quizalofop, in plant matrices under consideration. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concluded that the long‐term and short‐term intake of residues occurring in food from the existing uses of quizalofop‐P‐ethyl, quizalofop‐P‐tefuryl and propaquizafop and from the intended use of propaquizafop on lettuces and other salad plants, is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, Finland, hereafter referred to as the evaluating Member State (EMS), received an application from BASF SE to modify the temporary maximum residue level (MRL) for the active substance mepiquat in cultivated fungi based on monitoring data. Mepiquat residues in mushrooms do not result from the use of the active substance on mushrooms, but from the uptake of residues via the growth substrate composed of cereal straw that has been treated with mepiquat. Based on a total of 74 samples on oyster mushrooms, three different MRL proposals were derived. A risk management decision is required, considering the acceptable non‐compliance rate, in order to decide which temporary MRL is the most appropriate to cover the presence of mepiquat chloride residues in oyster mushrooms. The exposure to residues of mepiquat chloride at the levels observed in the monitoring data on cultivated oyster mushrooms, which were the basis for deriving the MRL proposals, is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant Syngenta (France SAS) submitted a request to the competent national authority in France to modify the existing maximum residue level (MRL) for the active substance emamectin in peaches. A second request was submitted by Syngenta Italia S.p.a to the competent national authority in Italy to modify the MRL emamectin in kiwi. The data submitted in support of the request were found to be sufficient to derive MRL proposals for kiwi and peaches. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to enforce the residues resulting from the use of emamectin benzoate on the commodities under consideration at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.001 mg/kg. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concluded that the short‐term and long‐term intake of residues resulting from the use of emamectin benzoate according to the reported agricultural practices is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health. The applicant BASF SE submitted a request to the competent national authority in the Netherlands to evaluate the confirmatory data that were identified for bentazone in the framework of the maximum residue level (MRL) review under Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 as not available. To address the data gaps, a new livestock feeding study and storage stability data for bentazone and 6‐hydroxy bentazone in animal matrices were submitted. To address the data gap for potatoes, adjusted less critical good agricultural practices (GAPs) were reported and supporting residue data were provided. The data gap related to analytical methods in fat and herbal infusions were addressed in the framework of the peer review. The data gap for residue trials on leek has not been addressed. Further confirmation from the applicant/Member States are needed for the clarification of the GAP for herbal infusions. Based on the information submitted in support of the confirmatory data request, the existing EU MRLs for bentazone need to be modified for potato and leek, for swine fat and kidney and for bovine, equine, goat and sheep fat, liver and milk. To assess the occurrence of clethodim residues in plants, processed commodities, rotational crops and livestock, EFSA considered the conclusions derived in the framework of Directive 91/414/EEC, the MRLs established by the Codex Alimentarius Commission and European authorisations reported by Member States (including the supporting residues data). Based on the assessment of the available data, MRL could not be proposed because an overall consumer risk assessment could not be finalised. Risk managers should be made aware that the genotoxic potential of the clethodim metabolite 3‐chloroallyl alcohol, the aglycon of 3‐chlorolallyl alcohol glucoside (M14A/M15A) could not be concluded and no toxicological reference values could be derived for this metabolite. Until a conclusion on the toxicological properties of the metabolite is reached, a decision on the residue definition for risk assessment cannot be made which is a prerequisite to perform a reliable dietary risk assessment. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicants Luxembourg Industries (Pamol) Ltd and De Sangosse SAS submitted a request to the competent national authority in France to modify the existing maximum residue level (MRL) for fosetyl/phosphonic acid related to the use of potassium phosphonates on potatoes, wheat and some animal commodities. The data submitted in support of the request were found to be sufficient to derive MRL proposals for the crops under assessments and for animal commodities. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of phosphonic acid on the commodities under consideration at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg for high water‐ and dry matrices and at LOQ of 0.1 mg/kg in high acid matrices and in animal matrices and eggs at the validated LOQ of 0.05 mg/kg and in milk at the validated LOQ of 0.01 mg/kg. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concluded that the intake of residues resulting from the use of potassium phosphonates according to the reported agricultural practices is unlikely to present a risk to consumers. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant Belgium Federal Public Service for Health, Food chain safety and Environment (Belgium FPS Health) submitted a request to modify the existing maximum residue level (MRL) for the active substance fludioxonil in Florence fennels. The data submitted in support of the request were found to be sufficient to derive an MRL proposal of 1.5 mg/kg for Florence fennels. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of fludioxonil on the commodity under consideration at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concluded that the long‐term intake of residues resulting from the use of fludioxonil according to the reported agricultural practice is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health. The applicant BASF SE submitted a request to the competent national authority in Germany to evaluate the confirmatory data that were identified for dimethenamid‐P in the framework of the maximum residue level (MRL) review under Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 as not available. The data gap refers to the submission of a plant metabolism study investigating the fate of dimethenamid‐P following foliar treatment with a short preharvest interval (PHI) in a leafy or bulb vegetable crop. The confirmatory data requirement is considered sufficiently addressed according to the conclusions of the peer review, which, based on available metabolism studies, proposed to modify the existing enforcement and risk assessment residue definitions in all plant commodities, by including additional dimethenamid‐P metabolites ((2RS)‐3‐(2‐{(2,4‐dimethylthiophen‐3‐yl)[(2S)‐1‐methoxypropan‐2‐yl]amino}‐2‐oxoethanesulfinyl)‐2‐hydroxypropanoic acid (M30) and (2RS)‐3‐[(2‐{(2,4‐dimethylthiophen‐3‐yl)[(2S)‐1‐methoxypropan‐2‐yl]amino}‐2‐oxoethyl)sulfanyl]‐2‐hydroxypropanoic acid (M26). The residue data of metabolites M26 and M30 are currently not available for all authorised uses assessed in the MRL review. Should risk managers decide amending residue definitions, the existing EU MRLs would need to be revised accordingly. The consumer exposure as calculated by the MRL review was updated in two scenarios, using the existing and the new toxicological reference values as derived by the peer review. For the crops under consideration (spring onions, lettuce, escarole and herbs), indicative conversion factors were applied to account for possible metabolite burden. According to Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 on maximum residue levels of pesticides in or on food and feed, Member States have to monitor pesticide residue levels in food samples and submit the monitoring results to EFSA and the European Commission. The Standard Sample Description (SSD, version 1) is the data model used for reporting the data on analytical measurements of chemical substances occurring in food, feed and water to EFSA. This document is a consolidated version of the past four years' guidance defining the appropriate SSD codes to describe the samples and the analytical results and it gives directions for the reporting of the pesticide residues monitoring data starting with the data generated in 2018 onwards. These provisions take into account the experience of both the previous reporting seasons and the new legislation applicable in 2018. This EFSA Guidance will not be applicable for the 2019 data collection provided to EFSA in 2020. In 2020, all data on annual monitoring will be transmitted in SSD2 format only. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant Dow AgroSciences submitted a request to the competent national authority in Greece to set an import tolerance for the active substance 2,4‐D in genetically modified (GM) soyabeans imported from Canada and the USA. The genetic modification confers tolerance to the herbicide 2,4‐D. The data submitted in support of the request provided sufficient evidence to conclude that residues of parent 2,4‐D and of the metabolite 2,4‐dichlorophenol (2,4‐DCP), which was found in the GM soybeans treated with 2,4‐D, are unlikely to present a risk for consumers. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant Nissan Chemical Europe S.A.S. submitted a request to the competent national authority in the Netherlands to modify the existing maximum residue levels (MRLs) for the active substance pyridaben in tomatoes and aubergines. An MRL proposal of 0.15 mg/kg was derived for tomatoes and aubergines which reflects the intended use of the plant protection product containing pyridaben. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of pyridaben in plant matrices at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concludes that the proposed use of pyridaben on tomatoes and aubergines will not result in a consumer exposure exceeding the toxicological reference values and therefore it is unlikely to pose a risk to consumers' health. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant Bayer Hellas AG submitted a request to the competent national authority in Greece to modify the existing maximum residue level (MRL) for the active substance fluopyram in broccoli. The data submitted in support of the request were found to be sufficient to derive MRL proposals for broccoli. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of fluopyram on the commodity under consideration at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the FPS Health, Food chain safety and Environment of Belgium, submitted an application to modify the existing maximum residue level (MRL) for the active substance cyprodinil in Florence fennel to accommodate the intended use in the northern Europe. The submitted data were found sufficient to derive an MRL proposal of 4 mg/kg for cyprodinil in Florence fennel. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of cyprodinil in the plant matrix under consideration at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concluded that the long‐term intake of residues resulting from the authorised uses of cyprodinil and the intended use on Florence fennel is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health. An indicative acute exposure assessment was performed, considering the acute reference dose (ARfD) proposed by the rapporteur Member State (RMS) in the framework of the currently ongoing renewal of the approval of cyprodinil; no acute health concerns were identified with regard to cyprodinil residues in Florence fennel. As the peer review on the renewal of the approval of cyprodinil in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 is currently ongoing, the conclusions reported in this reasoned opinion may need to be reconsidered in the light of the outcome of the peer review. According to Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, EFSA has reviewed the maximum residue levels (MRLs) currently established at European level for the pesticide active substance pinoxaden. To assess the occurrence of pinoxaden residues in plants, processed commodities, rotational crops and livestock, EFSA considered the conclusions derived in the framework of Commission Regulation (EU) No 188/2011, the MRLs established by the Codex Alimentarius Commission as well as the European authorisations reported by Member States and the UK (including the supporting residues data). Based on the assessment of the available data, MRL proposals were derived and a consumer risk assessment was carried out. According to Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, EFSA has reviewed the maximum residue levels (MRLs) currently established at European level for the pesticide active substance cyproconazole. Considering that no application was received to support the renewal of the approval of cyproconazole and considering the expiry date for its approval on 31 May 2021, and that the import tolerances identified were not supported by sufficient data, and are not forming the basis of any existing EU MRLs, but correspond to existing MRLs established by the Codex Alimentarius Commission (codex maximum residue limits; CXLs), the current assessment is limited to CXLs. To assess the occurrence of cyproconazole residues in plants, processed commodities, rotational crops and livestock, EFSA considered the conclusions derived in the framework of Commission Regulation (EC) No 33/2008, as well as the MRLs established by the Codex Alimentarius Commission. Based on the assessment of the available data, EFSA assessed the CXLs and a consumer risk assessment was carried out. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant Landwirtschaftliches Technologiezentrum Augustenberg submitted a request to the competent national authority in Germany to modify the existing maximum residue level (MRL) for the active substance phenmedipham in strawberries. Noting that at least one additional trial is missing, an MRL of 0.7 mg/kg was derived for the intended NEU use of phenmedipham on strawberries. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of phenmedipham in strawberries at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg. Since the current MRL application was submitted before the finalisation of the EU pesticides peer review of the renewal of the approval of phenmedipham, the consumer exposure assessment was performed according to the conclusions on the toxicity of phenmedipham from the first approval under Directive 91/414/EEC. Accordingly, the long‐term intake of residues of phenmedipham resulting from the existing and the intended uses is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health. EFSA notes that the present assessment does not take into account the data gaps identified in the context of the renewal of the approval of phenmedipham under Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009, which prevented experts to derive toxicological reference values (TRVs) for phenmedipham, to derive the risk assessment residue definition for fruit crops and to conclude on the toxicity of relevant metabolites. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant Syngenta France SAS submitted a request to the competent national authority in France to amend the residue definition for risk assessment and to modify the existing maximum residue levels (MRLs) for the active substance acibenzolar‐S‐methyl in beans (with pods) and peas (with pods). The toxicological data submitted in support of this MRL application were found to be sufficient to conclude that the plant metabolite 4‐OH acibenzolar acid is not genotoxic in vitro, however lacking investigation of the general toxicity, a definitive conclusion cannot be derived whether 4‐OH acibenzolar acid (free and conjugated) should be included or excluded from the residue definition for risk assessment for all commodities belonging to the groups of leafy crops and pulses/oilseeds. The data submitted in support of the request were found to be sufficient to derive MRL proposals on the basis of the current residue definition (sum of acibenzolar‐S‐methyl and acibenzolar acid (free and conjugated), expressed as acibenzolar‐S‐methyl) for the intended uses on lettuces and salad plants, beans (with pods) and peas (with pods). The available residue trials are sufficient to derive MRL proposals of 1 mg/kg for beans with pods and peas with pods. The submitted information did not provide evidence that the existing MRL has to be changed for the intended uses on lettuces and other salad plants. For herbs and edible flowers, data gaps were identified which precluded the derivation of MRL proposals. The consumer risk assessment for the current residue definition did not identify an unacceptable risk for consumers. The indicative exposure calculations performed for the metabolite 4‐OH acibenzolar indicate that exposure to this metabolite is lower than the exposure to acibenzolar‐S‐methyl and acibenzolar acid (free and conjugated). However, considering the data gaps identified, a definitive conclusion cannot be derived by EFSA on the risk for consumers related to the intake of residues of 4‐OH acibenzolar acid. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant Syngenta Crop Protection AG submitted a request to the competent national authority in the Netherlands to modify the existing maximum residue levels (MRLs) for the active substance difenoconazole in commodities belonging to the group of leafy brassica. The data submitted in support of the request were found to be sufficient to derive MRL proposals for leafy brassica. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of difenoconazole in plant matrices under consideration at the validated LOQ of 0.01 mg/kg and for difenoconazole and metabolite CGA205375 in animal matrices at the validated LOQ of 0.01 mg/kg for meat muscle, fat, liver, kidney and eggs and at the validated LOQ of 0.005 mg/kg for milk. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concluded that for the crops assessed in this application the short‐term intake of residues resulting from the use of difenoconazole according to the reported agricultural practices is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health. Long‐term consumer intake concerns cannot be excluded for the intended and existing difenoconazole uses as they are affected by uncertainties associated with the toxicity of metabolite CGA205375 and the lack of information on all existing difenoconazole uses in the EU. Overall, this risk assessment is considered provisional, pending the submission of confirmatory data on possible preferential metabolism/degradation of the four stereo isomers of difenoconazole in plants and has to be re‐considered when the missing data become available. Additionally, this assessment does not take into consideration triazole derivative metabolites (TDMs) which may be generated by several pesticides belonging to the group of triazole fungicides as this application was submitted before September 2019 which is the date of application of the new strategy endorsed by the risk managers for the assessment of TDMs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

However, robust processing factors for Annex VI in view of monitoring of residues in processed commodities could not be derived. The conclusions of the EFSA following the peer review of the initial risk assessments carried out by the competent authorities of the rapporteur Member State, Germany, and co‐rapporteur Member State, Hungary, for the pesticide active substance beta‐cyfluthrin are reported. The context of the peer review was that required by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 844/2012. The conclusions were reached on the basis of the evaluation of the representative uses of beta‐cyfluthrin as an insecticide on beet, potato, wheat and greenhouse tomato. In addition, this conclusion also addresses the request received from the European Commission during the decision‐making phase following completion of the peer review with regard to the risk to non‐target arthropods. The reliable end points, appropriate for use in regulatory risk assessment are presented. Missing information identified as being required by the regulatory framework is listed. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant Certis Europe B.V. submitted a request to the competent national authority in the Netherlands to modify the existing maximum residue levels (MRLs) for the active substance imazalil in cucumbers, courgettes and gherkins. The data submitted in support of the request were found to be sufficient to derive an MRL proposal of 0.08 mg/kg for the whole group of cucurbits with edible peel. It is noted that the derived MRL is proposed to replace the existing tentative MRL of 0.1 mg/kg for courgettes, thus also addressing the data gap identified in the context of the MRL review. As regards to cucumbers and gherkins, it is noted that the MRL proposal derived in the current application is covered by the MRL of 0.5 mg/kg currently in place for these commodities. Nevertheless, it is also noted that the aforementioned MRLs are based on Codex maximum residue limits (CXLs) which were revoked in 2019 following the JMPR proposal. Should this proposal be implemented in the EU regulation in the future, the proposed MRL of 0.08 mg/kg as derived in the current application would be considered an appropriate fall-back option for the whole group of cucurbits with edible peel. Further risk management considerations are therefore required. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of imazalil on the commodities under consideration at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.005 mg/kg (QuEChERS method based on LC-MS/MS) and 0.01 mg/kg (HPLC-MS/MS method). Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concluded that the short-term and long-term intake of residues resulting from the use of imazalil according to the reported agricultural practices is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant Nissan Chemical Europe SAS submitted a request to the competent national authority in the Czech Republic to modify the existing maximum residue levels (MRLs) in pome fruits and to evaluate the confirmatory data identified in the framework of the MRL review under Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 as not available. To address the data gaps on residue trials, new trials according to the Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) on apples, pears, medlars, quinces, loquats/Japanese medlars, apricots, peaches and beans with pods evaluated during the MRL review were not provided. These data gaps are not addressed. However, residue trials on apples and pears for an alternative GAP were provided and resulted by extrapolation in an MRL proposal for pome fruits lower than the current (tentative) MRL in EU legislation. The provided information may require a revision of the existing MRLs for pome fruits, apricots, peaches and beans with pods. Information on storage temperature of samples from the feeding study and a validated analytical method for animal commodities were submitted. The two data gaps on animal commodities were satisfactorily addressed. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of pyridaben in plant matrices under consideration and in all animal matrices, where currently an limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.02 mg/kg is considered at the validated LOQ of 0.01 mg/kg. In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant BASF SE submitted a request to the competent national authority in Austria to set an import tolerance for the active substance fipronil in potatoes, maize, rice, sugar canes and to modify the existing EU MRLs (maximum residue levels) for fipronil in commodities of animal origin. During the assessment, the applicant withdrew the import tolerance requests on maize and rice. The data submitted in support of the present assessment were found to be sufficient to derive MRL proposal for sugar canes. For potatoes, data gaps were identified which precluded the derivation of MRL proposal. The livestock exposure to fipronil residues from the intake of sugar canes molasses required the setting of MRL in fat of bovine, sheep and goat. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the total residues of fipronil in plant and animal matrices at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) 0.005 mg/kg. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concluded that consumer intake concerns are not associated with fipronil residues in food commodities under consideration: sugar canes and fat of bovine, sheep and goat. The toxicological profile of zeta-cypermethrin was also assessed. Based on the assessment of the available data, MRL proposals were derived, and a consumer risk assessment was carried out. Some information required by the regulatory framework was missing and a possible chronic/acute risk to consumer was identified. The applicant Syngenta Crop Protection AG submitted a request to the competent national authority in Germany to evaluate the confirmatory data that were identified for penconazole in the framework of the maximum residue level (MRL) review under Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 as not available. Moreover, in the application submitted to Germany, the applicant also included a request to raise the existing MRLs in pome fruits, raspberries and blackberries. To address the data gaps, detailed results on the metabolism substudy in tomato, a new storage stability on metabolites CGA127841, CGA132465 and CGA190503 and new residue trials were submitted. The data gap on metabolism was considered satisfactorily addressed. The data gap on complete sets of residue trials analysing simultaneously for monitoring and risk assessment residue definitions was considered addressed for raspberries, blackberries, pumpkins and watermelons; not addressed for pome fruits, stone fruits, grapes, gooseberries, tomatoes and aubergines. The new information provided justified an increase of the existing MRLs for pome fruits, plums, blackberries and raspberries and a revision of the risk assessment performed for penconazole. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of penconazole on the commodities under consideration at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concluded that the short-term and long-term intake of residues resulting from the intended uses of metaldehyde according to the reported agricultural practices is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health. In accordance with Article 43 of Regulation (EC) 396/2005, EFSA received a request from the European Commission to review the existing maximum residue levels (MRLs) for the non-approved active substance bifenthrin in view of the possible lowering of the MRLs. EFSA investigated the origin of the current EU MRLs. For existing EU MRLs that reflect previously authorised uses in the EU, or that are based on obsolete Codex maximum residue limits, or import tolerances that are not required any longer, EFSA proposed the lowering to the limit of quantification or to an alternative MRL. EFSA performed an indicative chronic and acute dietary risk assessment for the revised list of MRLs to allow risk managers to take the appropriate decisions. The applicant Belchim Crop Protection submitted a request to the competent national authority in Germany to evaluate the confirmatory data that were identified for tebufenpyrad in the framework of the maximum residue level (MRL) review under Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 as not available. To address the data gaps, new residue trials on peaches, apricots and raspberries (extrapolated to blackberries and dewberries) as well as a new analytical method for enforcement in animal commodities and its independent laboratory validation were submitted. The data gaps were considered satisfactorily addressed. The new information provided required a revision of the existing MRLs for peaches and apricots while the existing MRLs for blackberries and dewberries could be confirmed.
