The slug flow in a superhydrophobic microchannel with a T-junction was studied computationally. The continuous phase passed through the main channel while the dispersed phase1 through the side channel. The volume of fluid (VOF) was employed to track the interface to study the dynamics of slug flow. First, a mesh independence study was carried out to select the optimum mesh by comparison of CFD results with experimental data. The developed model of microchannel was used to study slug flow heat transfer enhancement for micro cooling of electronic chips. The constant heat flux was applied on the walls of the microchannels and the axial wall temperature profile was noted. Upon quantification of heat transfer augmentation in terms of wall temperature reduction, Nusselt number and heat transfer coefficient enhancement, it was noted that slug flow performed much better vis-à-vis single-phase flows at similar conditions. Pakistan has a significant occurrence of both consanguineous marriages and intimate partner violence (IPV), which may be interlinked. The practice of consanguineous marriages could potentially influence women to rationalize and accept instances of IPV. Such attitudes perpetuate a culture of violence against women, creating difficulties for victims to reject or escape from it. Pakistan has high prevalence rate of consanguineous marriages and IPV. However, no research has been done to explain the difference in acceptance of IPV between women in consanguineous and non-consanguineous marriages. This study used Pakistan Demographic and Health Survey data and applied association tests, logistic regression, and the Fairlie decomposition analysis. The Fairlie decomposition helps us identify the relative contribution of different socioeconomic factors in the inequalities in IPV between the two types of marriages. Five dimensions of wife-beating justification are used as outcome variables. Age, education, and empowerment of women, husband education, woman witness parental violence, region, place of residence, and household wealth status are used as independent variables. The logistic regression results indicated that women in consanguineous marriages of younger age and who witnessed parental violence are more likely to justify wife-beating than those who belong to wealthy households and enjoy more empowerment. Compared to the Punjab province, women residing in Sindh and Baluchistan are less likely and in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province are more likely to justify wife-beating. The Fairlie decomposition analysis shows that household wealth status, woman education, and empowerment are the main contributors in explaining the gap between the wife-beating justification of the two groups. The IPV gap can be reduced up to 77% if the distribution of women in different wealth quantiles of the consanguineous marriage group is identical to the non-consanguineous marriage group. Furthermore, woman education level is the second highest contributor. Consanguineous marriages are a prevalent cultural practice in Pakistan and are associated with several negative health and social outcomes. Addressing this issue requires a sustained and comprehensive effort by the government, civil society, and international partners, with a particular focus on women from poor households with less education. Over the years, a crop variety grown on the commercial scale and under different conditions becomes vulnerable to various kinds of issues involving both biotic and abiotic plant stresses, alone or in combinations. This demands their substitution with new and improved genotypes possessing higher productivity and inherent resistance/tolerance against yield-limiting stresses. In this context, this editorial reports the development of a new chickpea kabuli variety "Noor-2019". This cultivar has improved yield potential, dietary elements (proteins, fat, ash), and more importantly, resistance against fusarium wilt and ascochyta blight compared to the existing varieties. The evolution of this strain commenced in 2002-03 cropping season by crossing K-90399 as a female parent with K-52582 as a male parent. The female parent had high yield potential, whereas the male parent had wilt resistance and was developed through introgression breeding using ILWC-126, an accession of Cicer reticulatum. Henceforth, the genetic variability was created to select for high yield and wilt resistant recombinants in subsequent generations. Resultantly, a uniform and high yielding progeny line PCK-09012, later designated as "Noor-2019" was selected and evaluated for yield, agronomy, and insect pests. This cultivar revealed a potential yield of 2882 kg ha-1 in testing phase and outperformed standard checks by producing 78.2%, 13.1%, and 28.8% higher grain yield in station, adaptation and national uniform yield trials, respectively. The plants of Noor-2019 are 60-65cm tall, semi-erect, and medium in canopy spread. Its grains are light brown, ram-headed, medium in size with a 100-seed weight of 25 g. Adoption of this cultivar across different climatic regions of Punjab, and other provinces could contribute in attaining self-sufficiency in local chickpea production as well as plummeting import bill. Recently, marine hydrocolloids have gained interest as a potential future food additive in baking and other food industries. Studies have shown the potential of marine hydrocolloids as functional ingredients to improve the bread quality. In this regard, the review summarizes the applications of marine hydrocolloids (carrageenan, agar, alginate) in improving bread's rheology and overall functionality. The review also provides an overview of marine hydrocolloids' physicochemical and functional characteristics, focusing on their usage as thickening agents, stabilizers, emulsifying agents, and viscosity modifiers. Additionally, the applications of marine hydrocolloids in improving the bread dough quality, texture, stability, and nutritional value are also discussed. Moreover, marine hydrocolloids' role in lowering the glucose digestion rate, resulting in a low glycemic index, has been described. Marine hydrocolloids can be a safe and healthy option for developing novel bakeries and other food products. Therefore, future research should be directed to characterize and explore the key applications and digestion mechanisms of marine hydrocolloids to meet the demand of the food sector for novel functional food products. We present disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) with excessive fibrinolysis (XFL) as an unusual presenting manifestation of metastatic prostate cancer (PC), which was successfully treated with chemotherapy with Docetaxel which not only controlled the disease but also reversed the patient's coagulopathy within seven days effectively. Objective: To determine the diagnostic accuracy of the Mentzer index as a screening tool for iron deficiency anaemia, using an iron profile as the gold standard in patients presenting with hypochromic microcytic anaemia. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Place and Duration of Study: Department of Pediatrics, Pak Emirates Military Hospital, Rawalpindi Pakistan, from Dec 2021 to May 2022. Methodology: Data was collected from 163 patients with hypochromic microcytic anaemia. Red cell indices were noted for each patient and recorded on a defined proforma. Results: The mean age of the patients was 8.23±3.57 years. 85(52.1%) patients were males and 78(47.9%) were females. Moreover, out of 163 patients, the specificity, sensitivity, negative predictive value, positive predictive value, and diagnostic accuracy of the Mentzer index for the diagnosis of iron deficiency anaemia were 90.1%, 90.1%, 84.6%, 93.8%, and 90.8%, respectively. Conclusion: The cell-count-based indices, especially the Mentzer index, are reliable and available methods for diagnosing iron deficiency anaemia. They have an accurate discrimination ability. For the potential therapy of Alzheimer's disease (AD), cholinesterases (ChE) and monoamine oxidase (MAO) are key enzymes that regulate the level of acetylcholinesterase (AChE)/butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) and monoamines. The aim of current research is the synthesis of multi-target compounds that can concomitantly inhibit ChEs and MAO. A series of fluoxetine and sertraline hybrids was designed and evaluated as multi-target inhibitors of ChEs and h MAO. In-vitro enzyme inhibition studies demonstrated that a number of compounds displayed excellent inhibition in submicromolar to nanomolar range. However, compounds 17 , 22 , 38–40 possess excellent concomitant inhibitory activity against ChEs and h MAO-A/B enzymes and thus emerged as optimal multi-target hybrids. In-vivo acute toxicity study showed the safety of synthesized compounds up to 2000 mg/kg dose. The examinations of brain tissue in Swiss albino mice suggested that selected most active MAO-B inhibitors 17 and 22 have a propensity to block the MAO-B activity that could be responsible for their neurodegenerative effect in mice. Current study was aimed to formulate a nutritious snack bar by incorporating date pit powder (by product) and soy protein isolate in date paste. Date bars were formulated after ingredients optimization and were analyzed for physico-chemical, in-vitro starch and protein digestibility, antioxidants and microbial count. Results showed that date bars are rich source of protein, fiber, carbohydrates and fat with good digestibility properties. Date pit powder and soy protein isolate incorporation enhanced the total antioxidants and DPPH activity in soy date bars however, decreasing trend was observed in total antioxidants and inhibition of DPPH radical activity during 90 days of storage. Based on the results, it has been suggested that date bars may be considered as a source to meet the energy requirements of health-conscious consumers. The prime objective of the current study is to examine the effects of third-grade hybrid nanofluid with natural convection utilizing the ferro-particle Fe 3 O 4 and titanium dioxide TiO 2 and sodium alginate (SA) as a host fluid, flowing through vertical parallel plates, under the fuzzy atmosphere. The dimensionless highly nonlinear coupled ordinary differential equations are computed adopting the bvp4c numerical approach. This is an extremely effective technique with a low computational cost. For validation, it is found that as the volume fraction of Fe 3 O 4 + TiO 2 hybrid nanoparticles rises, so does the heat transfer rate. The current and existing results with their comparisons are shown in the form of the tables. The present findings are in good agreement with their previous numerical and analytical results in a crisp atmosphere. The nanoparticles volume fraction of Fe 3 O 4 and TiO 2 is taken as uncertain parameters in terms of triangular fuzzy numbers (TFNs) [0, 0.05, 0.1]. Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a public health and human rights issue with the social and economic impacts felt by women. Punjab is a male-dominated society, where partner violence is generally accepted as a cultural norm and viewed as normal behavior within a marriage. It stems from attitudes that partner violence is a private matter and usually a justifiable response to misbehavior on the part of the wife. The focus of the current study is to investigate the impact of this cultural norm in acceptability attitude of women toward IPV in Punjab province. A large-scale sample size of more than 46,000 from Multi-Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) 2018 has been used. The impact of the cultural norm on the wife-beating attitude has been investigated in five dimensions: wife going out without telling him, neglecting the children, arguing with him, refusing to have sex with him, and burning the food. The logistic regression results indicate that wife-beating is accepted as a community norm. It has been found that if wife-beating is accepted by community, then the individual female is more than 3 times more likely to consider it justifiable in all five dimensions. The other important factors are education level, household wealth, ethnicity, media exposure, and wife–husband age difference. The level of education of women plays the most important role in rejecting the wife-beating norm, as an increase in level of education is associated with an increase in the probability of rejecting the wife-beating. Safflower is an underutilized and minor oilseed crop that received less attention from the scientific community compared to other oilseed crops like soybean and sunflower. Exploring the genetic basis associated with agronomic traits is crucial for markerassisted breeding of safflower. A genome-wide association study was conducted using a total of 12,232 DArTseq markers to identify the marker-trait association for important agronomic traits in an international safflower panel derived from 26 different geographical countries of the world. Statistically significant genotypic effects (p < 0.05) were observed across mean data of both locations (Pakistan and Turkey). Moderate to high heritability estimates were observed for the studied traits. Studied material showed higher performance for all traits except seeds per capitulum in Pakistan compared to Turkey. Phenotypic diversity for important agronomic traits, such as plant height (60.08 to 121.48 cm), capitula per plant (8.7 to 80.4), seeds per capitulum (15 to 42.05), and seed yield per plant (4.85 to 51.02 g), was illustrated. Seed yield per plant showed a highly significant and positive correlation with capitula per plant (0.4985***). Constellation plot analysis resulted in four groups, i.e. A, B, C, and D. Genotyping by sequencing resulted in 12,232 DArTseq markers being used for the investigation of marker-trait association through mixed linear model (Q + K) approach. DArT-38077549 showed significant association with capitula per plant, while two markers (DArT-22763576, DArT-22763253) were associated with plant height. A total of two markers (DArT-38079422, DArT-100043360) were associated with seeds per capitulum. A total of five DArTseq markers showed significant association with seed yield per plant and maximum variation was resulted by DArT-100004992. The results of this study provide a new insight to understand the genetic basis associated with agronomic traits in safflower. The uncertainties or fuzziness occurs due to insufficient knowledge, experimental error, operating conditions, and parameters that give the imprecise information. In this article, we discuss the combined effects of the gravitational and magnetic parameters for both crisp and fuzzy cases in the three basic flow problems (namely, Couette flow, Poiseuille flow, and Couette–Poiseuille flow) of a third-grade fluid over an inclined channel with heat transfer. The dimensionless governing equations with the boundary conditions are converted into coupled fuzzy differential equations (FDEs). The fuzzified forms of the governing equations along with the boundary conditions are solved by employing the numerical technique bvp4c built in MATLAB for both cases, which is very efficient and has a less computational cost. In the first case, proposed problems are analyzed in a crisp environment, while in the second case, they are discussed in a fuzzy environment with the help of α -cut approach, which controls the fuzzy uncertainty. It is observed that the fuzzy gravitational and magnetic parameters are less sensitive for a better flow and heat situation. Using triangular fuzzy numbers (TFNs), the left, right, and mid values of the velocity and temperature profile are presented due to various values of the involved parameters in tabular form. In current study twenty-five barley genotypes were grown under RCBD (randomized complete block design). Barley flour was analyzed for proximate composition, β-glucan content, soluble and insoluble dietary fiber. Based on the results of nutritional quality best line (4158) was selected for the preparation of wheat flour supplemented bread. The sensory evaluation of bread was carried out to assess its suitability for consumers. The data obtained from all the experiments was subjected to statistical analysis by CRD. The results indicated that the highest moisture content (13.47%), protein content (13.93%), fat content (3.39%), fiber content (7.08%), ash content (2.67%) and NFE (71.54%) were observed in lines 4220, 4158, 4149, 4193, 4233, 4220 respectively. Similarly, significant differences for β-glucan (4.99%), total dietary fiber (16.62%), soluble (6.23%) and insoluble dietary fiber contents (10.36%) were observed in barley line 4193, 4233, 4168 and 4233, respectively. The bread prepared with the addition of 5% flour to wheat flour was liked most by the judges after the control bread. Since the emergence of COVID-19 pandemic in China in late 2019, scientists are striving hard to explore non-toxic, viable anti-SARS-CoV-2 compounds or medicines. We determined In vitro anti-SARS-CoV-2 activity of oral formulations (syrup and capsule)of an Iodine-complex (Renessans). First, cell cytotoxicity of Renessans on the Vero cells was determined using MTT assay. Afterwards, the antiviral activity of Renessans was determined using viral inhibition assays and TCID50. For this, nontoxic concentrations of the Renessans were used. The results showed that Renessans is nontoxic to the cells up to 50 µg/mL. At 1.5 µg/mL concentration, SARS-CoV-2 production was significantly reduced to 101.43 TCID50 and 101.58 TCID50 for the syrup and capsule, respectively, as compare to virus infected control cells 106.08 TCID50 and we found the dose dependent inhibition of virus replication in the presence of Renessans. Renessans inhibited SARS-CoV-2 with an EC50 value of 0.425 µg/mL and 0.505 µg/mL for syrup and capsule, respectively. Furthermore, there was no virus detected at concentration of 50 µg/mL of Renessans. This study indicates that Renessans, containing iodine, have potential activity against SARS-CoV-2 which needs to be further investigated in human clinical trials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the present investigation, cheese milk was supplemented with vitamin A (retinol palmitate) at four different concentrations, i.e., 3,500, 4,000, 4,500, and 5,000 IU (T1, T2, T3, and T4), respectively. Treatment without supplementation of vitamin A was used as control. Prepared Cheddar cheese samples were stored at 4°C and further analyzed for vitamin A, organic acids, and fatty acids composition at different stages of ripening using high performance liquid chromatography and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry. Supplementation of vitamin A at all concentrations showed no significant effect on moisture, fat and protein contents of Cheddar cheese. After salting, recovery of vitamin A in control, T1, T2, T3, and T4 was 91.98%, 91.60%, 91.47%, 91.92%, and 91.56%, respectively. Storage period of 90 days significantly affected the fatty acids composition in control and all experimental samples. No significant difference was recorded in free fatty acids, peroxide value, and sensory characteristics in 90‐day‐old cheese samples. Practical applications: Effect of vitamin A supplementation on retention and stability of Cheddar cheese was first time investigated. These results suggest that vitamin A supplemented Cheddar cheese may be prepared by supplementing the cheese milk from 3,500 to 5,000 IU retinol palmitate with acceptable sensory properties. In modern world, the Cheddar cheese prepared with vitamin A supplementation may have huge market and can be widely used in many countries worldwide as indispensable part of wide range of fast foods and also a part of daily meals in some regions. Pakistan is 5th most populous country in the world and striving to achieve population equilibrium. Unfortunately, one in five women in Pakistan has not been using contraceptives and thus bearing unwanted pregnancies. Female's participation in their own matters and benefits from social, economic, and political spheres has remained very low. Gender inequality is often cited as a barrier to improving women's sexual and reproductive health outcomes, including contraceptive use. Pakistan is ranked at 148th place out of the 149 countries in Global Gender Gap Report 2018, which indicates very high gender inequality. Keeping in view this fact, we investigated the impact of women's decision-making autonomy on contraceptive use among married women age 15–49 years in Pakistan. Pakistan Demographic and Health Survey 2018 data has been used for analysis by using descriptive statistics, association tests, and multiple logistic regression. Women's participation in making four household decisions: access to health care; large household purchases; what to do with the husband earning and freedom to visit family and relatives have been used as women's decision-making autonomy. The results indicated that women's decision-making autonomy has been positively associated with contraceptive use. Women's age, province of residence, education level, household wealth status, number of children, time since last sex, and awareness about family planning services have also been found statistically significantly associated with contraceptive use. The current study suggests integrating the interventions for women's decision-making autonomy into family planning programs. For this purpose, the development of community-based awareness programs for women's decision-making autonomy and contraceptive use could be useful interventions to achieve population equilibrium. The ongoing outbreak of novel Coronavirus originated from Wuhan, China, and vigorously spread throughout the globe causing serious concerns. This study aimed to appraise the community demographics, knowledge, attitudes, practices mental health, symptoms, and precautionary measures during the COVID‐19 pandemic in Pakistan. This study was a cross‐sectional and observational study. An online semi‐structured questionnaire was designed by freely available Google Forms. A Referral Sampling technique was used, a total of 439 responses were recorded and analyzed by using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. Regression analysis and multinomial logistic regression analysis were done to test the hypothesis. This study shows more than 63% of participants maintain social distancing at their workplaces, offices, markets, and so forth and 59% of participants stayed at their homes during the lockdown. Almost 75% of participants did not attend any gathering during COVID‐19. Most participants (75.4%) wear masks and gloves, and 85.6% of participants wash their hands with soap and using hand sanitizer regularly. This study shows that 40.8% and 36.2% of participants felt anxiety and fear due to Coronavirus. This study shows that knowledge among the population in Pakistan about COVID‐19 was low. Continued efforts are needed to address knowledge, attitudes, and practices to interrupt novel Coronavirus transmission. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Current research is designed to check the mediating effect of thriving at work for the relationship of proactive personality with OCB. In this regard current research proposes three hypotheses of direct relationships and one mediating relationship. Data was collected from 310 employees of textile sector from city Lahore, Pakistan. Result indicates that all three hypotheses are accepted. Moreover, thriving at work is partially mediating the relation of proactive personality with OCB. In future, these types of studies may also conduct on other sectors like the banking sector; the telecom sector and education sector for validate the results. It is also worthwhile to collect the data from employees of other sectors. For managerial point of view this research provides practical implication for managers as by promoting the concept of thriving at work at work will improve the better involvement of their employees in their work. The application of heterosis is a promising approach for greatly increasing yield in soybean (Glycine max L.). Nuclear male sterility is essential for hybrid seed production and the utilization of heterosis. Here we report the cloning of the gene underlying the soybean male‐sterile mutant ms‐1, which has been widely used for recurrent selection in soybean breeding programs. We initially delimited the ms1 locus to a 16.15 kb region on chromosome 13, based on SLAF_BSA sequencing followed by genotyping of an F2 population segregating for the locus. Compared with the same region in fertile plants, the mutant region lacks a sequence of approximately 38.7 kb containing five protein‐coding genes, including an ortholog of the kinesin‐like protein gene NACK2, named GmMs1. The GmMs1 knockout plants generated via CRISPR/Cas‐mediated gene editing displayed a complete male‐sterile phenotype. Metabolic profiling showed that fertile anthers accumulated starch and sucrose normally, whereas sterile anthers had higher anthocyanin levels and lower flavonoid levels and lower antioxidant enzyme activities. These results provide insights into the molecular mechanisms governing male sterility and demonstrate that GmMs1 could be used to create male‐sterile lines through targeted mutagenesis. The existing studies on innovation extensively focused on such economic factors as foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows, trade openness, and R&D investments. Contrastingly, non-economic factors have received less research attention in the innovation literature. Lousy governance may lead to political and institutional ineffectiveness. Widespread corruption weakens the accountability practices and rule of law and may consequently hamper innovation. Similarly, terrorism deters flows of investment, increases unproductive costs, causes brain drains, decreases R&D investment and entrepreneurial activities and finally inhibits rates of innovation. This study empirically investigates the impacts of governance structure, terrorism, FDI inflows, and trade openness upon innovation in a laggard country: Pakistan. The findings via the ARDL co-integration approach show that lousy governance, terrorism and FDI inflows have adverse impacts on innovation. It was a descriptive research which studied the use of non-verbal communication in the pedagogic practices at secondary school level in Lahore. The study was conducted to examine the practices of teachers' non-verbal communication used in conjunction with verbal communication in actual classroom setting by teachers which affected the participation and performance level of learners. It investigated the students' understanding, interpretation of and attitude towards non-verbal communication used by teachers and identified the existing barriers for the use of non-verbal communication strategies to improve students' learning. The non-verbal communication was restricted to five factors--physical appearance, facial expressions, eye contact, spatial distance and paralinguistic. The study was limited to the subject of English (compulsory) at the female secondary schools in public sector. The sample comprised of 1200 students and 40 teachers from female public high schools of Lahore (Punjab), Pakistan. The study recommended that all female teachers at secondary level schools should be provided an orientation in non-verbal communication which would help them to use these skills in their teaching methodologies. In this article, we suggest an alternative approach for the study of some partial differential equations (PDEs) arising in physical phenomena such as chemical kinetics and population dynamics. He–Laplace variational iteration method (He-LVIM) is a simple but effective way where the variational iteration method (VIM) is coupled with Laplace transforms method. He's polynomials are obtained by the homotopy perturbation method (HPM) to deal with the nonlinear terms. Fisher equation, the generalized Fisher equation and the nonlinear diffusion equation of the Fisher type are suggested to demonstrate the accuracy and stability of this method. Polyphenyl is used in a variety of applications including high-vacuum devices, optics, and electronics, and in high-temperature and radiation-resistant fluids and greases, it has low volatility, ionizing radiation stability, and high thermal-oxidative properties. The structure of polyphenyls can be represented using a molecular graph, where atoms represent vertices and bonds between atom edges. In this study, pure ZnO and iron (Fe) and cobalt (Co) co-doped ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized by varying Fe and Co concentrations using the co-precipitation method. The physical properties of as-prepared samples were investigated through XRD, FTIR, SEM, and UV–vis spectroscopy. X-ray diffraction confirmed the strong influence of Fe and Co ions on structural parameters without disturbing the basic ZnO hexagonal structure. The microstructural study was executed by using the Scherrer, W–H, and SSP methods. FTIR confirmed the presence of Zn–O, and Zn–M–O (M = Fe, Co) vibrational modes, which further confirmed the successful incorporation of dopants ions. The energy bandgap (E g) extracted from UV–vis spectra has shown red-shift (3.37–2.7 eV) for decreasing Fe contents, whereas blue-shift (3.37–3.39 eV) for increasing Co concentration. SEM was used to investigate surface morphology, which represents the high rate of agglomeration. The photocatalytic test was performed on grown samples against various dyes and also observed the effects of varying concentrations of Fe and Co ions. The maximum degradation efficiency (98.8%) at 6%Fe and 4%Co under direct sunlight in 60 min against methylene blue (MB) was achieved. The photocatalytic activity of optimized concentration (6%Fe and 4%Co) was further tested against cresol red (CR), methyl orange (MO), safranin-O (SO), rhodamine-B (RhB), and methyl red (MR) dyes. The maximum degradation efficiency against MR dye (96.0%) was observed. The antibacterial test against Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae bacterial strains have shown that co-doped ZnO nanoparticles have a higher activity as compared to pristine ZnO, and furthermore, the sample with 6%Fe and 4%Co concentration exposed the highest antibacterial actively for both bacterial strains. Flaxseed oil was fractionated at −40°C, filtrate was designated as olein fraction (31% yield), which was further fractionated at −60°C, and filtrate was named as super olein fraction (17% yield). Flaxseed oil, olein, and super olein fractions were stored at 25°C–30°C for the duration of 90 days. Alpha linolenic acid in flaxseed oil, olein, and stearin fraction was 55.26%, 63.47%, and 71.61%. High‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) characterization showed that phenolic compound was concentrated in olein and super olein fractions. In super olein fraction of flaxseed oil, concentration of gallic acid, protocatechuic acid, 4‐hydroxybenzoic acid, syringic acid, p‐coumaric acid, and ferulic acid was 8.14, 40.59, 75.38, 7.95, and 9.27 mg/100 g. Total phenolic contents of flaxseed oil, olein, and super olein were 145, 185, and 247 mg GAE/100 g. Peroxide value of 90 days stored flaxseed oil, olein, and super olein was 0.59, 0.75, and 0.96 (MeqO2/kg) with no difference in color and flavor scores. Practical applications: Several fractions of palm oil and milk fat are commercially produced for large number of industrial applications. However, fractionation of flaxseed oil is not previously performed, and chemical characteristics of olein and super olein fractions of flaxseed oil are not reported in literature. In this study, olein and super olein fractions of flaxseed oil were produced by dry fractionation. Super olein fraction revealed more than 70% alpha linolenic, higher magnitude of phenolic compounds than parent flaxseed oil, with reasonable oxidative stability and acceptable sensory attributes. The expansion of cross‐border information and production resources is facilitated by information globalization through the transfer of fresh ideas, products, technologies, and business models. This encourages information globalization's potential to achieve environmental and other technological advancements in the meantime and helps to make greener production possible through value‐added trade. Prior research, however, largely ignored this aspect of globalization in global value chains' studies. In order to anticipate carbon emissions (CO2) in BRICS economies, this novel study aims to assess the significance of participation in global value chains (GVCs) and information globalization (ING). The innovative research uses nonparametric causality‐in‐quantiles techniques on quarterly data from 1995Q1 to 2018Q4 to quantify for causality‐in‐variance and causality‐in‐mean because there might not be any causation at the first stage but there might be higher‐order interdependencies. The results show that GVC and ING had high predictive capability for carbon emissions, indicating asymmetry regarding environmental sustainability. Additionally, GVC and information globalization asserted that there is a significant interaction effect when it comes to forecasting pollution levels in chosen nations. The provision of financial and R&D assistance for energy efficiency and green production, as well as the use of mass and social media to raise awareness among the firms participating in global value chains, may assist in achieving SDG 13 and Cope26's goal of reducing pollution by 2030. The finding contributes crucial insights for policymakers and enhances the discourse on sustainable hones inside GVCs. In many countries with wastewater irrigation and intensive use of fertilizers (minerals and organics), heavy metal deposition by crops is regarded as a major environmental concern. A study was conducted to determine the impact of mineral fertilizers, cow manure, poultry manure, leaf litter, and sugarcane bagasse on soil's trace Pb content and edible parts of vegetables. It also evaluated the risk of lead (Pb) contamination in water, soil, and food crops. Six vegetables (Daucus carota, Brassica oleracea, Pisum sativum, Solanum tuberosum, Raphanus sativus, and Spinacia oleracea) were grown in the field under twelve treatments with different nutrient and water inputs. The lead concentrations in soil, vegetables for all treatments and water samples ranged from 1.038–10.478, 0.09346–9.0639 mg/kg and 0.036–0.26448 mg/L, The concentration of lead in soil treated with wastewater in treatment (T6) and vegetable samples was significantly higher, exceeding the WHO's permitted limit. Mineral and organic fertilizers combined with wastewater treatment reduced lead (Pb) concentrations in vegetables compared to wastewater application without organic fertilizers. Health risk indexes for all treatments except wastewater treatment (T6) were less than one. This review covers the significance of green banana resistant starch (RS), a substantial polysaccharide. The food industry has taken an interest in green banana flour due to its 30% availability of resistant starch and its approximately 70% starch content on a dry basis, making its use suitable for food formulations where starch serves as the base. A variety of processing techniques, such as heat‐moisture, autoclaving, microwaving, high hydrostatic pressure, extrusion, ultrasound, acid hydrolysis, and enzymatic debranching treatments, have made significant advancements in the preparation of resistant starch. These advancements aim to change the structure, techno‐functionality, and subsequently the physiological functions of the resistant starch. Green bananas make up the highest RS as compared to other foods and cereals. Many food processing industries and cuisines now have a positive awareness due to the functional characteristics of green bananas, such as their pasting, thermal, gelatinization, foaming, and textural characteristics. It is also found useful for controlling the rates of cancer, obesity, and diabetic disorders. Moreover, the use of GBRS as prebiotics and probiotics might be significantly proved good for gut health. Pakistan's economy greatly benefits from citrus production since these fruits are sold and consumed all over the world. Although citrus fruits are easy to cultivate, they are susceptible to diseases caused by bacteria, viruses, and fungi. These challenges, as well as difficulties in obtaining the proper nutrients, might negatively impact fruit yields and quality. Citrus canker is another complicated problem caused by the germ Xanthomonas axonopodis. This germ affects many types of citrus fruits all over the world. This study looked closely at how citrus canker affects the leaves and the quality of the fruit in places like Sargodha, Bhalwal, Kotmomin, and Silanwali, which are big areas for growing citrus in the Sargodha district. What we found was that plants without the disease had more chlorophyll in their leaves compared to the sick plants. Also, the healthy plants had better amounts of important minerals like calcium, magnesium, potassium, and phosphorus in their fruits. But the fruits with the disease had too much sodium, and the iron levels were a bit different. The fruits with the disease also didn't have as much of something that protects them called antioxidants, which made them more likely to get sick. The acidic soils of western Newfoundland require liming for successful production of most crops. Locally sourced paper mill waste wood ash (WA) and paper sludge (SL) have potential as cheaper alternatives to limestone (LIME). Two greenhouse experiments evaluated WA and SL as liming and soil conditioning amendments for annual ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum) production. At 55 days after seeding, soil pH in WA (6.2 and 6.3) and wood ash and paper sludge (WASL) (6.0 and 6.3) were not different from that in LIME (6.0 and 6.5) for Experiments 1 and 2, respectively. However, pH in SL was 0.4 and 0.3 points lower than in LIME. Compared to LIME, WA, SL, and WASL produced 31%–52% and 57%–74% greater biomass yield in Experiments 1 and 2, respectively. N uptake was greater in WA (60 and 129 kg N ha−1) and WASL (51 and 97 kg N ha−1) compared to LIME (40 and 85 kg N ha−1), in Experiments 1 and 2, respectively. SL did not differ from LIME in Experiment 1, but reduced N uptake by 57% in Experiment 2. The results show significant potential of WA as an alternative amendment for liming and yield improvement of annual ryegrass grown in NL podzolic soils. However, SL has limited potential due to the risk of increasing N immobilization and residual soil mineral N when growing conditions are limiting. Combining SL with WA or biochar seemed to alleviate these risks. Overall, the adoption of these amendments for field production systems warrants serious consideration, following supplemental field studies to determine optimal application rates and timing. This study formulates a multi-objective, multi-item solid transportation issue with parameters that are neutrosophic Z-number fuzzy variables such as transportation costs, supplies, and demands. This work covers two scenarios where uncertainty in the problem can arise: the fuzzy solid transportation problem and the interval solid transportation problem. The first scenario arises when we represent data problems as intervals instead of exact values, while the second scenario arises when the information is not entirely clear. We address both models when the uncertainty alone impacts the constraint set. In order to find a solution for the interval case, we generate an additional problem. Since this auxiliary problem is typical of solid transportation, we can resolve it using the effective techniques currently in use. In the fuzzy scenario, a parametric method is used to discover a fuzzy solution to the earlier issue. Parametric analysis identifies that the best parameterized approaches to complementary problems are characterized by the application of parametric analysis. We present a suggested algorithm for determining the stability set. Rasmalai is a very popular, delicious, and nutritious indigenous sweet dish in Indo‐Pakistani civilization. It has a very short shelf life, i.e., up to 3 days. The study was designed to assess the effect of preservatives (potassium sorbate and calcium propionate) on the shelf stability of Rasmalai. Moreover, proximate composition and sensory evaluation of prepared Rasmalai were also carried out in the present study. In general, potassium sorbate and calcium propionate significantly increased the shelf life of Rasmalai. But treatment (R5) containing a combination of both potassium sorbate and calcium propionate (500 ppm each) improved its shelf life by up to 12 days by keeping good sensorial characteristics. The maximum total plate counts as well as yeast and molds were observed in control Rasmalai (without any preservatives) whereas minimum counts were found in R5 treatment containing a combination of both potassium sorbate and calcium propionate (500 ppm each). In conclusion, all the preservatives used in the present study were effective in enhancing the shelf life of Rasmalai but R5 treatment containing a combination of both potassium sorbate and calcium propionate (500 ppm each) was the most effective in enhancing shelf life without deleterious effect on sensorial characteristics. Degummed, refined, winterized (at −60°C), and non‐winterized soybean, sunflower, cottonseed, and safflower oil samples were used for the production of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) by urea treatment. Fatty acids' composition and CLA isomers of winterized and non‐winterized versions of oil were analyzed on GC‐MS. Winterization improved the concentration of linoleic acids (LAs) in all vegetable oils. Safflower oil exhibited the highest concentration of LAs at 84.19% followed by sunflower oil (68.54%), cottonseed oil (63.74%), and soybean oil (59.88%), respectively. In safflower oil derived CLAs, concentrations of ∆9c,11t‐18:2, ∆10t,12c‐18:2, ∆9c,11c‐18:2, ∆10c,12t‐18:2, ∆8,9,11,10,12c‐c18:2, and ∆8,9,11,10,12t‐t18:2 were calculated 47.68%, 39.95%, 5.42%, 1.89%, 3.06%, 0.55%, and 1.45%, while in winterized safflower oil derived CLAs, these concentrations were 55.67%, 41.92%, 0.19%, 0.78%, 0.65%, 0.47%, and 0.32%, respectively, with significant difference in induction period and peroxide value. Yield of CLA from winterize soybean, sunflower cottonseed, and safflower oil was 22.58%, 24.95%, 23.16%, and 36.68%. Practical applications: Conjugated linoleic acids (CLAs) are naturally present in milk, dairy products, and beef. However, the amount of CLAs in dairy products and beef accounts limited moreover, the yield of CLA supplement produced from safflower oil is about 20%. To make the industrial processes economical, and sustainable fortification strategies, yield of CLA supplement should be increased. In the current study, winterized version of sunflower, soybean, cottonseed, and safflower oils were used to produce CLA supplement. Using winterized version, the yield of CLA supplement from safflower oil was increased to 36.68%. This work is highly suitable for the food industries to produce functional foods containing CLA. Purpose: This study aims to determine the correlation of anthropometric measurements with serum lipid profile among Malay subjects in Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia. Design/methodology/approach: This cross-sectional study was conducted in Kuala Terengganu on a total of 193 individuals aged 18-60 years. Subjects were recruited via direct interview as per inclusion criteria and anthropometric measurements, i.e. body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), hip circumference (HC), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), waist-to-height ratio, abdominal volume index and conicity index, were taken using International Standards for Anthropometric Assessment Guidelines. Fasting blood samples were collected for serum lipid profile analysis that measures triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoproteins (HDL), low-density lipoproteins (LDL), TG/HDL, TC/HDL and LDL/HDL. Besides socio-demographic characteristics, means and association of anthropometric parameters with lipid profiles were performed using simple linear regression and multivariate-adjusted regression analysis. Findings: The mean age of obese (male [39.2 ± 8.7] and female [41.1 ± 1.0]) and non-obese (male [29.8 ± 1.3] and female [33.3 ± 1.3]) respondents was compared. Means of anthropometric indices and lipid profile were significantly (p < 0.001) higher in obese than in non-obese group. Multivariate-adjusted regression showed that weight and BMI increased risks for prevalent high TC, TG, LDL, TC/HDL, TG/HDL, LDL/HDL, hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia and dyslipidemia. Regardless of sex, age and prevalent obese status, WHR increased risks for high prevalence of TC, TG, LDL, TC/HDL and LDL/HDL, and presents an independent risk factor for hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia. WC was highly associated with TG, while HC was associated with atherogenic lipid profile ratios: TC/HDL, TG/HDL and LDL/HDL. Originality/value: In conclusion, the lipid profile (TC, TG and TG/HDL) of triglyceridemia and hypercholesteremia is highly correlated with anthropometric measurements (BMI, WC and WHR) of central obesity that predict obesity-associated cardiac risks. In this study, carboxymethyl cellulase was produced in submerged fermentation characterized and saccharification was optimized through Box-Behnken design. The optima pH and temperature of enzyme produced by Trichoderma viride were 5 and 50 °C, respectively. The crude enzyme had Km and Vmax values of 1.5143 µM and 0.9253µM/min, respectively, using carboxymethyl cellulose as substrate respectively. Three variables including pH (X1), incubation temperature (X2) and substrate concentration (X3) with three levels were used to optimize saccharification of wheat straw having 83% cellulose content using Box Behnken design and Artificial Neural Network (ANN). Results reveal that the proposed model was significant and quadratic effect of these parameters significantly affects the sugar production. Maximum sugar production (28.87 mg/ml) was predicted at RSM predicted levels of pH (6.6), incubation temperature (50 ºC) and (6.2%) substrate concentration, while the levels predicted for pH, temperature and substrate concentration were 5, 50 ºC and 3.5 %, respectively, by ANN. The predicted sugar concentration at these levels was 30.72 mg/mL. The observed values at the predicted levels of RSM and ANN were 25.52 and 29.95 mg/mL respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this work, Polyalphaolefin oil-based hybrid nanofluid containing Fe3O4/MWCNT nanocomposite has been prepared to consider the impact of volume fraction on thermal conductivity through graphical representation. The heat transfer of the prepared nanofluids is investigated via adjusting the surface morphology, molar ratios and size of the nanocomposite. Phase and composition of the synthesized sample was inspected through XRD and FTIR spectroscopy. The average crystallite size was observed to be 7.74 nm from Debye-Scherrer equation. Thermophysical parameters such as diffusivity, specific heat and thermal conductivity were measured through transient plane source method. The sample showed 2% enhancement in thermal conductivity with addition of nano composite as compared to pure polyalphaolefin oil for 0.7 wt.% at 50℃ and this value declined when shifted towards very high temperatures. Similarly, thermal diffusivity and specific heat also showed a linear trend as a function of volume fraction. This shows that the prepared nano fluid contains high stability and thermal conductivity as compared to conventional lubricant (i.e., PAO) and has potential in heat transfer applications as a lubricant and heat transfer fluid. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of variety and plant environment on nutritional composition, phenolic contents and antioxidant activities from commercial wheat cultivars grown in Pakistan. Chemical composition, total phenolic contents and antioxidant activities were measured in twenty-seven spring wheat varieties grown for two cropping years. Preliminary assessment of antioxidant strength of the extracts was carried out by the evaluation of total phenolic contents (TPC), antioxidant activity (AA) and free radical scavenging activity (FRSA). The grain length, width and a thousand kernel weight of different wheat varieties ranged from 6.75-6.77 mm, 3.44-3.45 mm and 42.95-45.16 g respectively. Similarly, the moisture, ash, crude fat, crude fiber, crude protein, wet gluten, dry gluten, flour gliadins, flour glutenins contents and SDS-sedimentation value varied from 10.23-10.61%, 1.47-1.48%, 1.16-1.21%, 1.37-1.40%, 11.86-12.02%, 25.39-25.46%, 8.85-8.87%, 0.46-0.52%, 0.46-0.49% and 24.99-25.85 ml respectively among different wheat varieties. In the same way, the results for total phenolic contents, free radical scavenging activity (DPPH assay) and antioxidant activity via beta carotene bleaching assay varied from 12.40-11.73 mg GE/g, 18.48-18.99% and 14.23-15.97% respectively. Plant pathogens pose a significant threat to the food industry and food security accounting for 10–40% crop losses annually on a global scale. Economic losses from plant diseases are estimated at $300B for major food crops and are associated with reduced food availability and accessibility and also high food costs. Although strategies exist to reduce the impact of diseases in plants, many of these introduce harmful chemicals to our food chain. Therefore, it is important to understand and utilize plants' immune systems to control plant pathogens to enable more sustainable agriculture. Lipids are core components of cell membranes and as such are part of the first line of defense against pathogen attack. Recent developments in omics technologies have advanced our understanding of how plant membrane lipid biosynthesis, remodelling and/or signalling modulate plant responses to infection. Currently, there is limited information available in the scientific literature concerning lipid signalling targets and their biochemical and physiological consequences in response to plant pathogens. This review focusses on the functions of membrane lipid derivatives and their involvement in plant responses to pathogens as biotic stressors. We describe major plant defense systems including systemic‐acquired resistance, basal resistance, hypersensitivity and the gene‐for‐gene concept in this context. This review highlights the state‐of‐the‐art concerning how plant membrane lipids and their derivatives modulate immunity, disease resistance and plant response to infection. Major plant defence systems such as systemic‐acquired resistance, basal resistance, reactive oxygen species, hypersensitivity and the gene‐for‐gene concept are described in this context. Identification and detailed understanding of the molecular signalling occurring during pathogenesis can pave the way for better plant disease control which could be beneficial in enhancing food security and sustainable agr icultural production. However, recent advancements in molecular markers, sequencing technologies and the completion of the common bean genome sequence have opened numerous opportunities for fine mapping and gene characterization. The availability of these tools together with investigations of quantitative trait loci (QTL) and candidate genes for key traits such as morpho-agronomic, iron and zinc contents, cooking and quality traits, antioxidant activity, biotic and abiotic stresses pave the way to the development of new strategies for common bean genetic improvement. As a food source, it can contribute to the reduction of food scarcity worldwide in the coming years. Therefore, it is very important to take synergic efforts to integrate common bean genetic and genomic resources in breeding activities to ensure food security and contribute significantly to improved livelihoods in developing countries. Moreover, Kompetitive allele specific PCR (KASP) and CRISPR-Cas9 should be used to develop climate resilience common bean varieties. Here, we provide an overview of the evolution of common bean research by highlighting the past and recent advances in genomics, transgenics, transcriptomics and proteomics and also critically discuss the future prospects for further genetic improvement and better expansion of this crop. Non-thermal processing techniques not only prevent the nutritional losses but also improve the food quality and security. In recent years, consumers demand healthy, safe, and nutritious food. Ultrasound is one of the emerging techniques, which is being studied extensively on various food products. On the other hand, in microwave treatment heat transfer is rapid, so sensory characteristics, nutrients, vitamin content, flavor and color of food are well preserved. A study was conducted on combined effect of sonication and microwave processing on phalsa drink and stored for 120 days. The juice was filled in plastic bottles, sealed and after microwave treatment immediately chilled in ice cold water at 4 ± 1°C. It was observed that synergistic approach of sonication and microwave had shown positive impact on nutritional quality of phalsa drink as it increased (p ≤ 0.05) the total phenolic, flavonoids, reducing power and antioxidant properties of phalsa drink and reduced the microbial load with increase in sonication time from 2 to 8 min. It was concluded that combination of sonication and microwave can be employed without chemical preservatives for treatment of phalsa drink with better retention of nutritional attributes. Objective: To discern the relationship of height and weight with body composition in healthy attendants of cancer patients. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Place and Duration of Study: Combined Military Hospital, Rawalpindi Pakistan, from Oct to Dec 2022. Methodology: A total of 226 healthy adults aged 19-47 years having similar daily physical activity levels were included. The body composition of study participants was evaluated using a bioelectric impedance analysis (BIA) machine. The weight of all participants was recorded with the help of a weighing machine. The participants' height was measured using a Harp enden Stadiometer and recorded. Results: Our study showed that weight had a significant positive correlation with body fat mass (rs value=0.83), skeletal muscle mass (rs value=0.763), total body water (rs value=0.704), fat-free mass (rs value=0.75) and per cent body fat (rs value 0.716). On the other hand, height had a negative but non-significant association with fat mass (rs value= 0.025) and a negative significant association with per cent body fat (rs value=-0.16). Height had a positive and significant association with fat-free mass (rs value=0.553), total body water (rs value=0.501) and skeletal muscle mass (rs value=0.505). Conclusion: Weight, if used alone, is not a good indicator of obesity or emaciation, and height has a negative association with fat mass. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To validate a clinical scoring system for defining the severity of ailment that will assist in developing strategies for management prioritisation. Study Design: Cross-sectional analytical study. Place and Duration of Study: Paediatric Department, Combined Military Hospital Lahore, Pakistan, form Jan 2020 to Jul 2021. Methodology: The paediatric patients who reported to the Medical Reception Centre and were admitted to an Inpatient Facility were enrolled. Demographic profile, temperature, oxygen saturation, pulse, respiratory rate, seizures, and sensorium labelled as "TOPRS" score was recorded with "0 - Normal" and "1 - Abnormal" and scores calculated for each patient with the incorporation of systemic inflammatory response and advanced paediatric life support criteria. Results: A total of 300 paediatric patients with an age range of 1-18 years (mean: 3.86±5.43) were included. Of 300 patients, 237(79%) were discharged after improvement, and the mortality rate was 63(21%). A significant association with the mortality rate was deciphered with temperature, oxygen saturation, and respiratory rate variables. In contrast, pulse rate, sensorium, and seizures were concluded to have an insignificant association. Score "0" mortality was associated with the 4.4% mortality, whereas score "5" enumerated an 80% death rate. Conclusion: The TOPRS clinical scoring system has significant value in the diagnosis of mortality and morbidity of paediatric patients and, hence, can assist in early recognition and triage of patients, consequently aiding in the provision of prioriti sation protocols and management in a befitting manner. There are dire concerns of clean and green energy development with a sustainable economic growth in China. The present study aims to gauge the short term and long term relationship among the real economic output, labor, capital, energy and trade considering global financial crunch of 2008. There are two different models estimated in the production framework with fossil fuels and clean fuels in the economy of China. Specifically, there is indication of a long run association with convergence dynamics among real economic output, labor, capital, fossil fuel and trade before 2008 but not vice versa. The coefficient of fossil fuel with a greater magnitude is indicative of its huge role for higher real output growth, ceteris paribus. Likely, the findings turn out to be significant for real output, labor, capital, clean fuels and trade while long run elasticities corroborate that labor, capital, clean fuels and trade have a positive and significant impact on economic output. The sign and magnitude of the estimate of clean fuels is much higher than before crisis period indicating a paradigm shift in energy mix therein economic output growth.
