Objective: Adrenocortical responsiveness is critical for maintaining glucocorticoids production and homeostasis during stress. We sought to investigate adrenocortical responsiveness during hypoxia in mice and the mechanisms responsible for the regulation of adrenal responsiveness. Methods: (1) Adult male WT mice were randomly divided into four groups: normoxia, hypoxia (24h), hypoxia (72h), hypoxia (72h) + GYY4137(hydrogen sulfide (H2S) donor, 133mmol/kg/day); (2) WT mice were randomly divided into four groups: sham, adrenalectomy (ADX), sham+hypoxia, ADX+hypoxia; (3) Cse-/- mice were randomly divided into two groups: Cse-/-, Cse-/- +GYY4137. Results: The circulatory level of corticosteroid induced by ACTH stimulation was significantly reduced in the mice with hypoxia compared with control mice. The mortality rate induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) increased during hypoxia. Cystathionine-γ-lyase (CSE) expression was significantly reduced in adrenal glands during hypoxia. GYY4137 treatment significantly increased adrenal responsiveness and attenuated NLRP3 inflammasome activation in mice treated by hypoxia and Cse-/- mice. Furthermore, The sulfhydrated level of PSMA7 in adrenal gland was decreased in the mice with hypoxia and Cse-/- mice. PSMA7 was S-sulfhydrated at cysteine 70. Blockage of S-sulfhydration of PSMA7 increased NLRP3 expression in adrenocortical cells. Conclusion: Reduced H2S production mediated hypo-adrenocortical responsiveness and NLRP3 inflammasome activation via PAMA7 S-sulfhydration during hypoxia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To investigate the current status of children's sleep in Beijing and analyze the factors that influence it. Materials and Methods: Using multi-stage stratified cluster random sampling, a total of 11 420 children aged 3 to 14 years in 7 districts of Beijing were included in this study. The Pediatric Sleep Questionnaire (PSQ) was used to investigate and analyze various factors influencing sleep. Results: The mean PSQ score of the children surveyed was 3.60 ± 2.69 points. The proportion of children with a score above 7 was 8.87%. Multi-level model analysis showed that the younger children had higher PSQ scores than older and that the boys had higher PSQ scores than the girls. Conclusions: The sleep quality of children in Beijing is not optimistic. The PSQ score of preschool children is higher than school age children. It is recommended that parents pay attention to their children's sleep status and try to remove influencing factors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Sinonasal inverted papilloma (SNIP) is one of the most common benign epithelial tumors but rarely occurs in children. The case of a 9-year-old Chinese boy, who presented with a left maxillofacial hump, nasal obstruction, and left nasal cavity and maxillary sinus masses under nasal endoscopy, is reported. The lesion was first diagnosed as a sinonasal tumor. However, to our surprise, the mass was determined to be an inverted papilloma after a detailed histological examination. We retrospectively reported the clinical data of this case and reviewed the relevant literatures on SNIP. This report aims to provide new insights into the clinical characteristics in children with SNIP and improve the understanding of this disease. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: To explore the differences in the efficacy and safety of oral sirolimus and sildenafil in the treatment of pediatric intractable lymphatic malformations (LMs). Methods: From January 2014 to May 2022, we retrospectively enrolled children with intractable LMs treated with oral drugs (sirolimus or sildenafil) and divided the patients into sirolimus and sildenafil groups from Beijing Children's Hospital (BCH). Clinical features, treatment, and follow‐up data were collected and analyzed. The indicators were the ratio of reduction in lesion volume pre and posttreatment, the number of patients with improved clinical symptoms, and adverse reactions to the two drugs. Results: Twenty‐four children in the sildenafil group and 31 children in the sirolimus group were included in the present study. The effective rate in the sildenafil group was 54.2% (13/24), with a median lesion volume reduction ratio of 0.32 (−0.23, 0.89) and clinical symptoms improved in 19 patients (79.2%). On the contrary, the effective rate in the sirolimus group was 93.5% (29/31), with a median lesion volume reduction ratio of 0.68 (0.34, 0.96), and clinical symptoms improved in 30 patients (96.8%). There were significant differences (p < 0.05) between the two groups. Regarding safety, four patients in the sildenafil group and 23 patients in the sirolimus group with mild adverse reactions were reported. Conclusion: Both sildenafil and sirolimus can reduce the volume of LMs and improve clinical symptoms in partial patients with intractable LMs. Sirolimus is more effective than sildenafil and the adverse reactions associated with both drugs are mild and controllable. Objective Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels are associated with serum lipid concentrations in the general nonpregnant population. Here, we aimed to establish trimester-specific reference intervals and to explore the associations of their variations within the specific reference intervals during pregnancy. Methods Trimester-specific reference intervals were established according to the Clinical and Laboratory Standard Institute EP28-A3c guidelines using a direct sampling method based on a large prospective cohort. After making one-to-one matches, correlation analyses between TSH and lipid index levels, especially within the reference intervals, were conducted. Result A total of 1648 pregnant women for TSH and 2045 subjects for lipids were recruited to establish the trimester-specific reference intervals. The upper reference limit (90% confidence interval) of TSH for pregnant women in the first trimester is 3.95 (3.66–4.29) mIU/L, which is very close to the default value (4.0 mIU/L) recommended by the American Thyroid Association in 2017. Apart from triglyceride and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, TSH levels were positively associated with the serum concentrations of total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, non–high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (non–HDL-C), and remnant cholesterol (RC) either in the entire range or within the specific reference intervals. Of note, the positive correlations between TSH and non–HDL-C and RC were, albeit similarly weak (r  < 0.25), relatively more robust (P  < .001). Conclusion In this study, we showed positive correlations between TSH and lipid components within trimester-specific reference intervals, highlighting the need for the integrated management of pregnant women over age 35 and with nonoptimal lipid status in China. Regulation of Hybrid Materials of Ministry of Education, Bimetallic nanoclusters with synergistic effect exhibit better stability and activity than monometallic nanoclusters in catalytic applications. However, the large number of ligands on the surface of nanoclusters obscure the active sites, thus reducing the catalytic activity. Here, AuCu24/AC−X (X=0, 200, 300, 500, 800) catalysts were fabricated by removing the partial ligands on the surface of AuCu24H22((p‐FPh)3P)12 nanoclusters (short for AuCu24 NCs), and investigated the influence of calcination temperature on catalytic performance of AuCu24/AC in homocoupling and heterocoupling of terminal alkynes. The results showed that the catalytic activity of AuCu24/AC−X exhibited a volcanic trend with the increase of X (heat treatment temperature) and the content of Cu2+ also changed with the increase of X. Compared with Au25/AC‐200 and Cu25/AC‐200 catalysts, the AuCu24/AC‐200 bimetallic catalyst showed the highest catalytic activity in homocoupling and heterocoupling of terminal alkynes under mild conditions with TOF values reaching 478.7 h−1 and 114.1 h−1 respectively, which are higher than most reported catalysts.
