Background: Dupilumab has shown to be an effective and safe treatment for patients with moderate‐to‐severe atopic dermatitis (AD). Objective: To evaluate the predictive factors of response (PRF) in patients with moderate‐to‐severe AD treated with dupilumab. Methods: Observational, retrospective and multicentre study conducted on adult patients diagnosed with moderate‐to‐severe AD treated with dupilumab, with a post‐treatment follow‐up of at least 16 weeks. The primary endpoints were EASI‐75 and the IGA scale at week 52. Results: A total of 198 patients were included in the analysis. Mean age was 38 ± 15.1 years and 116 (58.6%) were men. The most prevalent AD‐predominant phenotypes were flexural eczema (45.3%), head‐and‐neck eczema (18.2%) and erythroderma (17.7%). At week 52, 140 (86.4%) patients achieved EASI‐75 and 119 (93.0%) achieved an improvement in ≥2 points from baseline in IGA score. Women were 3.6 times more likely to achieve EASI‐75 response than men (Odds ratio: 3.58; p = 0.020). While increased body mass index significantly reduced the probability of obtaining an improvement of ≥2 points in the IGA scale at week 52 (odds ratio: 0.88; p = 0.049). Conclusions: Dupilumab was an effective treatment in patients with moderate‐to‐severe AD. Additionally, sex and body mass index were significantly associated with achieving EASI‐75 and an improvement of ≥2 points in the IGA scale, respectively, at week 52. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To meet the growing demand for high-quality extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO) with health-promoting properties and pleasant sensory properties, studies are needed to establish optimal production parameters. Bioactive components of EVOO, including phenolic compounds, carotenoids, chlorophylls, tocopherols, and squalene, contribute to its organoleptic properties and beneficial health effects. The aim of this study was to develop an Arbequina EVOO with high phenol content, particularly oleocanthal and oleacein, on a laboratory scale by analyzing the effects of different temperatures (20, 25, and 30 °C) and times (30 and 45 min) of malaxation. Higher temperatures decreased the levels of the phenolic compounds, secoiridoids, tocopherols, and squalene, but increased the pigments. EVOO with the highest quality was produced using malaxation parameters of 20 °C and 30 min, although oleocanthal and oleacein were higher at 30 and 25 °C, respectively. Overall, 20 °C and 30 min were the processing conditions that most favored the physiological and chemical processes that contribute to higher levels of bioactive compounds in the oil and diminished their degradation and oxidation processes.

Cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBTI) remains difficult to access for patients with cancer. Its digitalization seem like a promising solution to benefit as many people as possible. The feasibility of a Quebec CBTI program was thus demonstrated in France, while revealing the limits of a self-help remote program for patients with cancer. The challenge remains to better understand with the Sleep-4-All-2.0 protocol study the role of healthcare professionals in supporting patients in this type of program.; La thérapie cognitivocomportementale de l’insomnie (TCC-I) demeure difficile d’accès pour les patients atteints de cancer.

- Abstract
The health of Mediterranean forests is seriously threatened by the effects of progressive climate change. Frequent droughts and heat waves induce heavy stress and favor the ignition of large wildfires causing decline in tree growth and mortality. Although trees are often able to survive the impact of fire thanks to their adaptive traits, partial injuries, such as crown defoliation, could compromise their physiology and resilience amplifying pre-existing climatic/site-specific stresses.Expanding knowledge on the physiological and mechanistic dynamics of burned forests in areas prone to multi-stress conditions is crucial to identify the most resilient species capable of countering future rates of climate change. In this context, our research aimed to understand the resilience of Pinus pinaster Aiton plantations located in the Vesuvius National Park, a particularly warm and dry area of southern Italy, affected by a large wildfire in 2017, which led to a progressive defoliation of trees in the post-fire years, reaching 50% in 2020. We selected different study sites along a wildfire severity gradient (control, low and medium burning intensity) and we applied a multi-parametric approach studying in the post-fire years (2017-2020): tree growth, intrinsic water use efficiency of the trees, morphological traits and needle nutrients in foliage, as well as the forest soil properties.Morpho-anatomical analyses of foliage showed that although the burned stands suffered severe defoliation, resilience reactions already started in burned trees during weeks following wildfire, with the formation of larger but also more xeromorphic and defensive foliage (i.e. needles with higher linear weight and increased percentage area of resin ducts) than at the control site. On another hand, the needle nutrient content indicated for all sites severe deficiencies of main macro and micro-nutrients (especially N, P, K). Accordingly, soil analyzes highlighted a forest soil particularly poor in nutrients, and in burned sites the fire seems to have worsened the dystrophy by burning the nutrient pool in topsoil humus layer. Finally, the stem growth never recovered: tree-growth was steadily in decline in the burned versus control sites in the post fire years. Similarly, the intrinsic water use efficiency was reduced in burned stands indicating higher transpiration costs for assimilated carbon. The higher conductance, confirmed by the increase in the density of the stomatal lines found in needles, suggested the need of the burned trees to attempt a higher carbon uptake and counteract the carbon starvation in the stem triggered by the crown reduction. Our results suggest that the studied burned stands are unlikely to recover their pre-fire performance. Carbon starvation will be difficult to reverse due to carbon retention in foliage to form new, heavier, and more defensive needles, also given the foliar nitrogen concentrations below deficiency level, further impeding assimilation. Therefore, the forest ecosystem reached a high vulnerability, not as a direct consequence of forest wildfire but due to the synergic effect of several stress factors: poor soil nutritional condition (exacerbated by the wildfire), an environment prone to drought stress and partial defoliation due to the fire (that lowered the tree photosynthetic capacity).

The ancient ‘Corbella’ olive variety from the center-north of Catalonia is being recovered to obtain quality extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO) with unique organoleptic properties. The aim of this work was to determine the effect of agronomic and technical factors on the phenolic fingerprint of EVOO and to establish the optimum harvesting time and crushing and malaxation conditions for ‘Corbella’ olives. Therefore, three different ripening indices (0.3, 1.2, and 3.2) and three crushing temperatures (10, 18, and 25 OC) were studied. Additionally, a factorial design to optimize the phenolic concentration of the EVOO was developed, applying a range of sieve diameters (4 and 6 mm), and malaxation time (30 and 60 min) and temperature (27, 32, and 37 °C). The phenolic profile was analyzed by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry in a tandem detector. The level of secoiridoids, the major phenolic compounds in the oil, was higher when using olives harvested earlier. Oleuropein aglycone and ligstroside aglycone were degraded during crushing at high temperatures, resulting in the formation of oleacein and oleocanthal. The best processing conditions in terms of total phenolic content were found to be 30 min of malaxation at 37 OC, the crushing size not having any affect.

This article discusses the prevalence of contact allergy to sodium metabisulfite (SMB) in Spain. The study found that out of 6,471 patients who were patch-tested with SMB, 2.1% had a positive reaction. The most commonly affected locations were the hands, and the most frequently involved products were topical medications and cosmetics. However, only 25.34% of positive reactions were considered currently relevant. The study concludes that the low current relevance of sensitization to SMB in Spanish patients suggests that it should only be included as a candidate allergen in the Extended Standard series in Spain with caution. - Abstract
SARS-CoV-2 (SCoV2) and its variants of concern pose serious challenges to the public health. The variants increased challenges to vaccines, thus necessitating for development of new intervention strategies including anti-virals. Within the international Covid19-NMR consortium, we have identified binders targeting the RNA genome of SCoV2. We established protocols for the production and NMR characterization of more than 80 % of all SCoV2 proteins. Here, we performed an NMR screening using a fragment library for binding to 25 SCoV2 proteins and identified hits also against previously unexplored SCoV2 proteins. Computational mapping was used to predict binding sites and identify functional moieties (chemotypes) of the ligands occupying these pockets. Striking consensus was observed between NMR-detected binding sites of the main protease and the computational procedure. Our investigation provides novel structural and chemical space for structure-based drug design against the SCoV2 proteome.

Background: Data regarding elderly patients with cancer, more particularly with non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas (NHL), are scarce, as is our knowledge concerning to comorbid depression in this population. The purpose of this work was to explore the frequency of major depressive disorder (MDD) and related factors in a group of elderly patients with these forms of cancer. Method: 42 elderly NHL patients aged 70 years and older were interviewed using the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview screening tool. Psychological variables such as coping strategies, cognitive status and quality of relationships, as well as clinical and socio-demographic data were collected. Results: Fourteen patients (33.3%) met criteria for current MDD of which five had melancholy features (35.7%). Elderly patients with comorbid NHL-MDD had a significantly poorer self-perceived global health and performance status than those without MDD, as well as more fatigue and history of depression. No other clinical, psychological or socio-demographic variable appeared associated with MDD in this sample. Conclusion: Further studies are needed in order to confirm these early results concerning a potential high frequency of MDD among elderly NHL patients. Depressive mood should be early recognized in order to provide appropriate treatments and avoid a detrimental effect of depression on cancer prognosis.

- Abstract
Here, we present a detailed study of the diversity, species composition, ecology and phytosociological characterization of the Habitat of Community Interest (priority type) at a European level Bog woodland (HIC 91D0*) in the Pyrenees, carried out through 23 inventories taken according to the Braun-Blanquet methodology, from the Benasque valley (central Pyrenees) to the Cerdanya region (eastern Pyrenees). The results show a clear separation of communities according to the dominant tree and to hydrology. We recognize a birch wooded mire of Betula pubescens Ehrh. as a new association: Blechno spicanti-Betuletum pubescentis ass. nov. within the alliance Betulion pubescentis Lohmeyer et Tüxen ex Scamoni et H. Passarge 1959. We also include in this alliance the Abies alba Mill wooded mires. The mires with open pine populations of Pinus uncinata Ramond ex DC. subsp. uncinata have been differentiated into two new associations characterized mainly by bryophytes: Sphagno papillosi-Pinetum uncinatae ass. nov., within the Betulion pubescentis alliance Lohmeyer et Tüxen ex Scamoni et H. Passarge 1959, and Sphagno capillifolii-Pinetum uncinatae ass. nov., within the Eriophoro vaginati–Piceion abietis H. Passarge 1968 alliance. These communities always occupy small areas and have no direct threats, but they are influenced by the forest dynamics of the adjacent forests and by livestock activity, both with notable changes in recent decades. The particularities of these forests and the presence of some bryophytes included in the Spanish red list or rare in Catalonia (Sphagnum squarrosum Crome, S. centrale C.E.O.

- Abstract
Background: Current frequency and risk factors for sensitization to methylisothiazolinone (MI), methylchloroisothiazolinone/methylisothiazolinone (MCI/MI), benzisothiazolinone (BIT) and octylisothiazolinone (OIT) in Spain are not well known. Objectives: To study the frequency of sensitization, risk factors and simultaneous sensitization between the four isothiazolinones. Materials and Methods: We analysed all 2019-2021 consecutive patients patch-tested with MI (0.2% aq.), MCI/MI (0.02% aq.), BIT (0.1% pet.) and OIT (0.1% pet) within the Spanish Contact Dermatitis Registry (REIDAC). Results: A total of 2511 patients were analysed. Frequencies of sensitization were: any isothiazolinone 15.7%, MI 6.8%, MCI/MI 4.8%, BIT 3.5% and OIT 0.5%. MI and MCI/MI sensitization was associated with being occupationally active, hand dermatitis, detergents and age over 40. BIT sensitization was associated with leg dermatitis and age over 40. About one in nine MI-positive patients were positive to BIT, whereas one in five BIT-positive patients were positive to MI. Conclusions: Sensitization to MI, MCI/MI and BIT is still common in Spain, while sensitization to OIT is rare. Currently, sensitization to MI and MCI/MI seems to be occupationally related. Although its origin is unknown, sensitization to BIT is more frequent in patients aged over 40 years. Simultaneous sensitization between MI and BIT is uncommon.

- Abstract
In Spain, several local studies have highlighted the likely presence of unknown olive cultivars distinct from the approximately 260 ones previously described in the literature. Furthermore, recent advancements in identification techniques have significantly enhanced in terms of efficacy and precision. This scenario motivated a new nationwide prospecting effort aimed at recovering and characterizing new cultivated germplasm using high-throughput molecular markers. In the present study, the use of 96 EST-SNP markers allowed the identification of a considerable amount of new material (173 new genotypes) coming from areas with low intensification of production in different regions of Spain. As a result, the number of distinct national genotypes documented in the World Olive Germplasm Bank of IFAPA, Córdoba (WOGBC-ESP046) increased to 427. Likewise, 65 and 24 new synonymy and homonymy cases were identified, respectively. This rise in the number of different national cultivars allowed to deepen the knowledge about the underlying genetic structure. The great genetic variability of Spanish germplasm was confirmed, and a new hot spot of diversity was identified in the northern regions of La Rioja and Aragon. Analysis of the genetic structure showed a clear separation between the germplasm of southern and northern-northeastern Spain and indicated a significantly higher level of admixture in the latter. Given the expansion of modern olive cultivation with only a few cultivars, this cryptic germplasm is in great danger of disappearing. This underlines the fact that maintaining as many cultivars as possible will increase the genetic variability of the olive gene pool to meet the future challenges of olive cultivation.
