Abstract

This report contains more than 35 key structural indicators on education policies in six areas: early childhood education and care (ECEC), achievement in basic skills, early leaving from education and training (ELET), higher education, graduate employability and learning mobility. This 2020 report contains the updated indicators for the 2019/20 school/academic year together with a short overview of the major reforms since the start of the 2014/15 school/academic year in six policy areas: (1) Early childhood education and care (ECEC); (2) Achievement in basic skills; (3) Early leaving from education and training (ELET); (4) Higher education; (5) Graduate employability; and (6) Learning mobility (reference year 2018/19). Abstract

Given that patients with cancer may commit suicide due to physical and mental problems, the present study objectives were to identify particular risk factors of different subgroup of patients including type of cancer, gender, age, type and time of suicide, and geographical region to facilitate early care and psychosocial support. A comprehensive review of databases including Embase, Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science was conducted for original articles published in English from January 2000 to March 2022. It is based on the PRISMA checklist. After reviewing 69 articles selected from 15 countries, the total prevalence rate of suicide among 34,157,856 patients with cancer was estimated 67,169, at 0.013 (95% CI, 0.008–0.021). The highest suicide prevalence was related to gastrointestinal cancer, estimated at 0.204 (95% CI, 0.161–0.255). A gender-based meta-analysis showed that the prevalence of suicide/suicidal ideation was higher among men, estimated at 0.013 (95% CI, 0.008–0.023) compared with women, at 0.006 (95% CI, 0.002–0.017). Based on study results, suicide-prevention strategies should be aimed at patients younger than 40 years of age to effectively resolve their mental health disorders and promote their self-efficacy in successful management of the disease. Abstract

Physiotherapy is a treatment that may be required permanently by many patients. As a result, a robot that can execute physiotherapy exercises for the legs like a professional therapist with adequate performance and acceptable safety may be efficient and widely used. In this study, a robust control system for a Stewart platform with six degrees of freedom is provided. First, the Newton-Euler approach is used in conjunction with a methodology and some simplification tools to achieve explicit dynamics formulation for the Stewart platform. For the primary application of this research, which is to follow the specified trajectory of ankle rehabilitation, computed torque control law (CTCL) and polynomial chaos expansion (PCE) were used to examine and consider any uncertainty in geometric and physical parameters. In fact, this strategy integrated the uncertainties with CTCL using PCE. The suggested PCE-based CTCL eliminates the system's nonlinearity by applying feedback linearization to evaluate generalized driving forces; hence, the nondeterministic multi-body system follows the desired direction. Uncertainties in the patient's foot as well as the main diameter parameters of the moment of inertia of the upper platform of the Stewart robot with various uniform, beta, and normal distributions, have been analyzed. The PCE technique's results were compared to the Monte Carlo method's outcomes, and the strengths and weaknesses of each method were investigated. Abstract

Schools play an important role in community development, particularly for children. The teachers engage in daily routine activities to support this goal. As a result, primary school pupils improve their mental and physical talents while learning life skills and academic competence. The purpose of this research was to assess the difficulties that primary school teachers face while managing classroom. 200 primary teachers were randomly selected from Lahore, Multan, and Mianwali districts. Data were gathered through a self-developed questionnaire and analyzed by using t-test and ANOVA in inferential statistics. The results of study illustrated that primary-level teachers encountered enormous classroom management challenges. Both gender and teacher's district showed a significant difference in classroom management. The results indicated the requirement of effective classroom management strategies, supportive infrastructure, and potential training for teachers. To have effective classroom management there is a need to work together including teachers, parents, and educational authorities to create good learning environment & manage challenges faced by primary school teachers. Abstract

The current research adopted qualitative content analysis with the help of NVivo 12 software and a purposive sampling technique to select a Grade 5 English textbook. The main purpose of study was to analyze the document regarding six aspects of sustainability by Tawanti framework. Findings of study revealed that sustainability has been viewed holistically consisting of environmental, social, economic, institutional, cultural and values-based approaches. The study of textbook revealed that most parts of the textbook were seen promoting the environmental awareness, gender equality, social responsibility, financial literacy, national pride, cultural diversity & values. Furthermore, specific lessons and activities were also found in the textbook to offer knowledge and training related to sustainable practices, empathy, ethical decision making & cultural heritage of Pakistan. It was concluded that the textbook of Grade 5 English is aligned with many aspects of the sustainability that give a more inclusive view of sustainable development. 193. Aspect ratio effect on particle transport in turbulent duct flows

Abstract

The dynamics of dilute micron-sized spherical inertial particles in turbulent duct flows is studied by means of direct numerical simulations of the carrier phase turbulence with one-way coupled Lagrangian particles. The geometries are a square and a rectangular duct with width-to-height aspect ratio $AR$ of 3 operating at $Re_{\tau,c}=360$ . The present study is designed to determine the effect of turbulence-driven secondary motion on the particle dynamics. Our results show that a weak cross-flow secondary motion significantly changes the cross-sectional map of the particle concentration, mean velocity and fluctuations. As the geometry of the duct is widened from $AR=1$ to 3, the secondary vortex on the horizontal wall significantly expands in the spanwise direction, and although the kinetic energy of the secondary flow increases close to the corner, it decays towards the duct centreplane in the $AR=3$ case so as the turbulent carrier phase approaches the behavior in spanwise-periodic channel flows, a fact that significantly affects the particle statistics. In the square duct the particle concentration in the viscous sublayer is maximum at the duct centreplane, whereas the maximum is found closer to the corner, at a distance of $|z/h|\approx1.25$ from the centreplane, in the $AR=3$ case. Interestingly the centreplane concentration in the rectangular duct is around 3 times lower than that in the square duct. Moreover, a second peak in the accumulation distribution is found right at the corners for both ducts. At this location the concentration increases with particle inertia. The secondary motion changes also the cross-stream map of the particle velocities significantly in comparison to the fluid flow statistics. These directly affect the particle velocity fluctuations such that multiple peaks appear near the duct walls for the particle streamwise and wall-normal velocity fluctuations.

Abstract

Starting from the zygote, all cells in the human body continuously acquire mutations. Mutations shared between different cells imply a common progenitor and are thus naturally occurring markers for lineage tracing.sup.1,2. Here we reconstruct extensive phylogenies of normal tissues from three adult individuals using whole-genome sequencing of 511 laser capture microdissections. Reconstructed embryonic progenitors in the same generation of a phylogeny often contribute to different extents to the adult body. The degree of this asymmetry varies between individuals, with ratios between the two reconstructed daughter cells of the zygote ranging from 60:40 to 93:7. Asymmetries pervade subsequent generations and can differ between tissues in the same individual. The phylogenies resolve the spatial embryonic patterning of tissues, revealing contiguous patches of, on average, 301 crypts in the adult colonic epithelium derived from a most recent embryonic cell and also a spatial effect in brain development. Using data from ten additional men, we investigated the developmental split between soma and germline, with results suggesting an extraembryonic contribution to primordial germ cells. This research demonstrates that, despite reaching the same ultimate tissue patterns, early bottlenecks and lineage commitments lead to substantial variation in embryonic patterns both within and between individuals. Abstract

This paper explores how personal experience acquires the status of knowledge and/or evidence in contemporary healthcare contexts that emphasise being both patient-centred and evidence-based. Drawing on a comparative analysis of three case studies -- self-help and mutual aid groups; online patient activism; and patient feedback in healthcare service delivery -- we foreground: (a) the role that different technologies and temporalities play in how experience is turned (or fails to be turned) into knowledge or evidence; (b) the role that experts-"of"-experience, in addition to the more frequently referenced experts-"by"-experience, play in mediating how, when and why experience is turned into an epistemic resource; and finally, (c) how the need to be 'evidence-based' remains a persistent, yet at times productive, challenge to how patient and user experiences are incorporated in contemporary healthcare policy and practice. Throughout the paper, we argue that it is necessary to look at both democratic and epistemic imperatives for including patient and service users in healthcare services and policymaking based on their experience.
