Three organoplatinum(II) complexes bearing natural arylolefin and quinoline derivatives, namely, [4-methoxy-5-(2-methoxy-2-oxoethoxy)-2-(prop-2-en-1-yl)phenyl](quinolin-8-olato)platinum(II), [Pt(C13H15O4)(C9H6NO)], (I), [4-methoxy-5-(2-oxo-2-propoxyethoxy)-2-(prop-2-en-1-yl)phenyl](quinoline-2-carboxylato)platinum(II), [Pt(C15H19O4)(C10H6NO2)], (II), and chlorido[4-methoxy-5-(2-oxo-2-propoxyethoxy)-2-(prop-2-en-1-yl)phenyl](quinoline)platinum(II), [Pt(C15H19O4)Cl(C9H7N)], (III), were synthesized and structurally characterized by IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy, and by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The results showed that the cycloplatinated arylolefin coordinates with PtII via the carbon atom of the phenyl ring and the C=Colefinic group. The deprotonated 8-hydroxyquinoline (C9H6NO) and quinoline-2-carboxylic acid (C10H6NO2) coordinate with the PtII atom via the N and O atoms in complexes (I) and (II) while the quinoline (C9H7N) coordinates via the N atom in (III). Moreover, the coordinating N atom in complexes (I)–(III) is in the cis position compared to the C=Colefinic group. The crystal packing is characterized by C—H...π, C—H...O [for (II) and (III)], C—H...Cl [for (III) and π–π [for (I)] interactions.

This article focuses on researching and developing a medical support device with functions to monitor various health parameters of patients directly or remotely, such as body temperature, heart rate, and blood oxygen saturation. The implementation method includes designing algorithm diagrams, hardware circuit design, component selection, and building a display application on smartphones or a website interface that allows monitoring the parameters quickly and accurately. Actual testing initially showed that, the device essentially operates quite accurately according to the design and programming with many advantages such as: The system operates stably, meeting design requirements; Results can be monitored visually in a variety of ways and conveniently on LCD screen, App, Web; Each measurement data is saved with data security assurance; The system is evaluated to have minimal errors, low power consumption, and is cost-effective, along with the convenience of result monitoring, making it suitable for various user groups. Furthermore, the research results can serve as a practical model for students in the Biomedical Engineering field at educational institutions where there is currently a shortage of devices catering to learning needs.

The complex [Pt(C9H6NO)Cl(C2H4)], (I), was synthesized and structurally characterized by ESI mass spectrometry, IR, NMR spectroscopy, DFT calculations and X-ray diffraction. The results showed that the deprotonated 8-hydroxyquinoline (C9H6NO) coordinates with the PtII atom via the N and O atoms while the ethylene coordinates in the η2 manner and in the trans position compared to the coordinating N atom. The crystal packing is characterized by C—H...O, C—H...π, Cl...π and Pt...π interactions. Complex (I) showed high selective activity against Lu-1 and Hep-G2 cell lines with IC50 values of 0.8 and 0.4 µM, respectively, 54 and 33-fold more active than cisplatin. In particular, complex (I) is about 10 times less toxic to normal cells (HEK-293) than cancer cells Lu-1 and Hep-G2. Furthermore, the reaction of complex (I) with guanine at the N7 position was proposed and investigated using the DFT method. The results indicated that replacement of the ethylene ligand with guanine is thermodynamically more favorable than the Cl ligand and that the reaction occurs via two consecutive steps, namely the replacement of ethylene with H2O and the water with the guanine molecule.

Rail transport system is considered as one of the most sustainable transportation modes with low carbon emissions per kilometer and unit transported. However, investing in rail infrastructure comes with significant construction costs. Therefore, the design of a rail transport system must be carefully planned, taking into account many relevant factors. In this research, we determine the optimal location of transportation hubs in the rail transport network using a multi-objective mathematical model with objectives of minimizing the total cost of transportation and minimizing the maximum passenger travel time in transportation network. The model is tested and applied to a real-world case study in the rail transport system of Thailand. Because the complexity of the multi-objective mathematical model and the large-scale of real case study, we develop a metaheuristics algorithm to efficiently solve this problem. The algorithm is based on the Tabu Search method and is designed to explore non-dominated neighborhoods. This approach allows the model to handle large-scale problems within a reasonable time frame while generating Pareto fronts. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of multi-objective optimization in supporting rail hub location planning.

The business landscape was characterized by rapid change, intense competition, and various substitute products. These factors shortened business life cycles and hindered business growth. Therefore, there was a need for a more appropriate model that could suit the current condition. The study aimed to develop a transformative Growth Stage Model (GSM) effectively adapted to modern challenges and uncertainty. This qualitative approach involved inductive theory building with seven case studies of SME owners in Yogjakarta and Central Java. Developed models, patterns, and interview themes were built, including resilience, business performance, and leadership for the early growth, growth, and decline stages. In addition, these patterns and themes were used to develop three stages of transformative GSM known as GSM 4.0.

Objective: Indocyanine green has been used in the assessment of the gastric conduit perfusion in thoracoscopic esophagectomy to prevent malperfusion-associated anastomotic leak. This study aims to evaluate the initial results of investigating the gastric conduit perfusion with indocyanine green in the surgical treatment of esophageal cancer. Patients and methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out on 54 esophageal cancer patients undergoing thoracoscopic esophagectomy and gastric conduit reconstruction. The blood flow in the gastric conduit was observed using an infrared camera and indocyanine green after completion of the conduit and after tunneling the conduit through the mediastinum to the neck. Results: The gastric conduit width and length were 5.2 ± 0.3 cm, and 31.5 ± 1.6 cm, respectively. The length of the gastric conduit from the junction between the right and left gastroepiploic to the point where the distal end of the gastric conduit still has a vascular pulse was 11.9 ± 4.3 cm. Seventeen patients (31.5%) had poor blood supply at the distal end of the gastric conduit, with indocyanine green appearance time ⩾ 60 s, in whom anastomotic leaks occurred in five patients (9.3%). The lack of connection between the right and left gastroepiploic vessels was associated with poor blood supply of the distal gastric conduit ( p = 0.04). Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed association between the time of indocyanine green appearance at the distal gastric conduit and the risk of anastomotic leak (OR = 1.99, 95% CI = 1.10–3.60, p = 0.02). Conclusion: Investigation of gastric conduit perfusion using indocyanine green in gastric conduit reconstruction detected 31.5% of patients with poor blood supply at the distal end of the conduit, in whom 9.3% had anastomotic leak. The longer indocyanine green appearance time in the distal gastric conduit (segment BC), was associated with the higher rate of the anastomotic leak.

This study investigates standard vehicles' flow behavior and drag during crosswind conditions by a numerical approach. The model is a half-scaled Ahmed body with a slant angle of 25°. Reynolds Average Navier-Stokes equations with turbulent model k-ω SST is applied to solve Navier Stokes equation by discrete method. Experimental data validated the numerical results at the same flow conditions. The results indicated that the model's drag increases with yaw angles, which is connected with the development of the longitudinal vortex on the windward side. However, the lift coefficient and pressure drag acting on the slant showed a maximum value at a yaw angle of around 35° before they dropped again. The drop of those coefficients results in the moving upward of the longitudinal vortex above the slant. The complex vortex structures around the base in both cross-sectional and symmetric planes are analyzed. The skin-friction pattern and pressure distribution on the slant are exposed to understand the effect of the yaw angle on aerodynamic forces.

Introduction and Aim of the Study: Scarring is a major concern in clinical dermatology, affecting individuals' quality of life due to both physical and psychological impacts. This review aims to explore the pathophysiology of various scar types—hypertrophic, keloid, and atrophic—and evaluate the effectiveness of current and emerging treatments to inform better clinical practices and therapeutic strategies. Description of the State of Knowledge: Scar formation involves complex biological processes: inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. The nature of the scar varies with the underlying cause and biological response, influenced by genetic factors, skin tension, and environmental elements such as UV exposure. Recent advances in treatments range from surgical techniques to laser therapy and biological agents like cytokines. Conclusion: The studies reviewed underscore the complexity of scar management, influenced by diverse genetic, biological, and environmental factors. No single treatment is universally effective, but a combination of preventative and therapeutic strategies shows the best promise.

Introduction: Creatine is a naturally occurring compound vital for energy metabolism, particularly in high-energy-demand tissues like muscles and the brain. Traditionally, research on creatine has focused on its ergogenic effects in sports, but emerging research suggests it may also positively impact brain health. Studies are exploring creatine monohydrate's role in improving cognitive function, mitigating neurodegenerative processes, and supporting mental health. This dual functionality highlights the compound's versatility as both a performance enhancer and a potential therapeutic agent for neurological health. By expanding the scope of creatine research beyond physical performance, we can better understand and utilize its full capabilities to enhance human health. This research review examines the growing evidence suggesting that creatine supplementation could significantly benefit brain health and the management of neurological diseases. Aim of the study: This review aims to synthesize current findings on creatine's cognitive benefits and its therapeutic potential for neurological disorders, critically analyzing preclinical and clinical studies to identify gaps and suggest future research directions. Materials and Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted using PubMed and Google Scholar databases, covering studies published between 2000 and 2024. Keywords such as creatine supplementation, brain health and neurodegeneration were used. Exclusion criteria included non-peer-reviewed articles, studies with insufficient data, and those not in English. Conclusions: This review highlights the potential benefits of creatine supplementation for cognitive and neurodegenerative diseases, noting its positive effects on memory, alleviating depression and anxiety, and offering neuroprotection. Future research should aim to standardize dosing, extend follow-up periods, and include larger, more diverse populations.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune and neurodegenerative disease leading to demyelination and axonal loss. Current treatments are immunomodulatory or immunosuppressive drugs acting on the inflammatory component. However, these treatments do not adequately address the crucial aspect of neuroprotection. Recently, an association between an altered balance of adipokines and MS has been proposed as both a risk factor for developing MS and a chronic disease aggravating factor. Specifically, a decrease of apelin plasma levels in MS patients compared to controls correlates with the number of relapses and disease severity. Here we report a dramatic downregulation of apelin levels in the CNS of EAE mice which is also detected in MS patients brain samples compared to controls. Exploiting innovative design and synthesis techniques, we engineered a novel fluorinated apelin-13 peptide characterized by enhanced plasmatic stability compared to its native counterpart. With this peptide, we assessed the potential therapeutic benefits of apelin preventive supplementation in the EAE mouse model. We show that the fluorinated Apelin-13 peptide ameliorates EAE clinical score and preserves myelin content in the EAE MOG model recapitulating the progressive form of disease. These results combined with ex-vivo experiments in brain organotypic slices and in vitro studies in neurons and primary microglia and macrophages suggest that apelin has neuroprotective effects and influences the microglia/macrophages function.

We investigated current-induced domain wall motion (CIDWM) driven by spin–orbit torque and Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction (DMI) in ferrimagnetic Pt/GdFeCo/SiN and Rh/GdFeCo/SiN wires with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy at room temperature. We found that CIDWM in the Pt/GdFeCo wire exhibits nearly two times smaller in critical current density and about four times larger in DW mobility compared to the Rh/GdFeCo wire. By measuring the CIDWM under a longitudinal in-plane magnetic field, the DMI constant (D) was estimated for both wires. The estimated value of D for the Pt/GdFeCo wire is approximately seven times larger than the Rh/GdFeCo wire. It indicated that the Pt/GdFeCo wire revealed the CIDWM with much higher efficiency, mainly attributed to the much larger DMI, which may come from significantly stronger interfacial heavy metal/ferrimagnet hybridization in the Pt/GdFeCo wire.

Named entity recognition (NER) is one of the most important tasks in natural language processing, which identifies entity boundaries and classifies them into pre-defined categories. In literature, NER systems have been developed for various languages but limited works have been conducted for Vietnamese. This mainly comes from the limitation of available and high-quality annotated data, especially for specific domains such as medicine and healthcare. In this paper, we introduce a new medical NER dataset, named ViMedNER, for recognizing Vietnamese medical entities. Unlike existing works designed for common or too-specific entities, we focus on entity types that can be used in common diagnostic and treatment scenarios, including disease names, the symptoms of the diseases, the cause of the diseases, the diagnostic, and the treatment. These entities facilitate the diagnosis and treatment of doctors for common diseases. Our dataset is collected from four well-known Vietnamese websites that are professional in terms of drag selling and disease diagnostics and annotated by domain experts with high agreement scores. To create benchmark results, strong NER baselines based on pre-trained language models including PhoBERT, XLM-R, ViDeBERTa, ViPubMedDeBERTa, and ViHealthBERT are implemented and evaluated on the dataset. Experiment results show that the performance of XLM-R is consistently better than that of the other pre-trained language models. Furthermore, additional experiments are conducted to explore the behavior of the baselines and the characteristics of our dataset.
