161. The pathological risk score: A new deep learning‐based signature for predicting survival in cervical cancer.

Abstract

Purpose: To develop and validate a deep learning‐based pathological risk score (RS) with an aim of predicting patients' prognosis to investigate the potential association between the information within the whole slide image (WSI) and cervical cancer prognosis. Methods: A total of 251 patients with the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) Stage IA1–IIA2 cervical cancer who underwent surgery without any preoperative treatment were enrolled in this study. Both the clinical characteristics and WSI of each patient were collected. To construct a prognosis‐associate RS, high‐dimensional pathological features were extracted using a convolutional neural network with an autoencoder. With the score threshold selected by X‐tile, Kaplan–Meier survival analysis was applied to verify the prediction performance of RS in overall survival (OS) and disease‐free survival (DFS) in both the training and testing datasets, as well as different clinical subgroups. Results: For the OS and DFS prediction in the testing cohort, RS showed a Harrell's concordance index of higher than 0.700, while the areas under the curve (AUC) achieved up to 0.800 in the same cohort. Furthermore, Kaplan–Meier survival analysis demonstrated that RS was a potential prognostic factor, even in different datasets or subgroups. It could further distinguish the survival differences after clinicopathological risk stratification. Abstract

Aluminum matrix composites with nondirectional graphite-flake reinforcement were fabricated by hot-press sintering. To avoid interfacial reactions in the graphite-flake-reinforced composites, copper (Cu), with a thickness of approximately 50 μm, was coated on the graphite flakes by chemical plating. The results show that the Cu is uniformly distributed on the surface of graphite flakes. The thickness of the Cu plating is in the range of 15.3–21.2 μm. For volume fractions of the nondirectional graphite flakes ranging from 40% to 70%, the Al/Cu-plated graphite-flake (Cu-GF) composites display thermal conductivities from 328 W/m K to 612 W/m K. The theoretical values calculated by the parallel alternate layer model are slightly higher than the experimental values. The friction coefficient (0.171) and wear rate (2.31 × 10−7 mm3/N mm) of the composites with 70% Cu-plated graphite flakes are the lowest of the compositions observed in this study. Owing to the lubrication of graphite, the friction coefficient and wear rate decrease with increasing graphite flake content. The thermal conductivity and wear resistance gradually increase when the volume fraction of the Cu-plated graphite flake increase.

Abstract

Firstly, spherical TiO2 particles of micro-nano size were prepared by using the inclusion reaction product which resulted from the chemical reaction between urea and EtOH and the inclusion reaction product served as a template. The size of spherical TiO2 can be regulated by the ratio of urea solution. The spherical TiO2 particles are mainly composed of anatase. Then the above spherical TiO2 particles were used to enhance the properties of acrylic resin. With the increase of TiO2, the microstructure surface of TiO2/acrylic resin coating was in the uneven shape of lotus leaf. When the addition of TiO2 reaches up to 30 wt.%, it can enhance the anti-corrosion properties of the acrylic resin coating brushed on Q235 steel plate, the water contact angle on the surface of TiO2/acrylic resin coating is 121.5° and displays good self-cleaning properties in the water with sand whose concentration reaches 20 wt.%. The composite coatings exhibited the highest 5B rating determined by adhesion test ASTM D-3359-02 (American Society for Testing and Materials).

Abstract

Aqueous lead sulfide (PbS) quantum dots (QDs) synthesized by traditional methods are unstable, so that they are usually coated with cadmium sulfide (CdS) to prevent oxidation, which are complicated and not satisfactory for mass production. Here, stable ternary Pb1−xCdxS QDs were synthesized by in situ coprecipitation of Pb4−nCdnO4 bimetallic clusters in an aqueous solution, which possess a uniform size of 4.0±0.2 nm and the second near‐infrared (NIR‐II) emission at 1100 nm with photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) as high as 17.72 %. Stored at 4 °C and in colloidal form, the PLQY of Pb1−xCdxS QDs remained at 90.9 % of the initial value after 15 days, while stored as powder, the spectra did not change after 5 months. The high PLQY and good water compatibility of Pb1−xCdxS QDs provide a good performance in vivo vasculature imaging and lymphatic system imaging at a very low power density (10 mW cm−2) in the NIR‐II window. Abstract

We report the controlled synthesis of monodisperse NaCeF4:Er/Yb nanoprobes that exhibit intense NIR-II emission for in vitro bioassay and in vivo bioimaging., Near-infrared (NIR) II luminescence between 1000 and 1700 nm has attracted reviving interest for biosensing due to its unique advantages such as deep-tissue penetration and high spatial resolution. Traditional NIR-II probes such as organic fluorophores usually suffer from poor photostability and potential long-term toxicity. Herein, we report the controlled synthesis of monodisperse NaCeF4:Er/Yb nanocrystals (NCs) that exhibit intense NIR-II emission upon excitation at 980 nm. Ce3+ in the host lattice was found to enhance the luminescence of Er3+ at 1530 nm with a maximum NIR-II quantum yield of 32.8%, which is the highest among Er3+-activated nanoprobes. Particularly, by utilizing the intense NIR-II emission of NaCeF4:Er/Yb NCs, we demonstrated their application as sensitive homogeneous bioprobes to detect uric acid with the limit of detection down to 25.6 nM. Furthermore, the probe was detectable in tissues at depths of up to 10 mm, which enabled in vivo imaging of mouse organs and hindlimbs with high resolution, thus revealing the great potential of these NaCeF4:Er/Yb nanoprobes in deep-tissue diagnosis.

Abstract

Multifunctional semiconductor catalysts can meet the urgent needs for the removal of antibiotic pollutants in water. Bifunctional catalysts, cobalt and chlorine co-doped Bi 5 O 7 I (signed as Co-BIC) catalysts, were purposefully designed through a two-step aqueous strategy. The preformed Bi 5 O 7 I precursor provided one-dimensional structure and Bi-rich character for the construction of Co-BIC catalysts. Co and Cl co-doping in Bi 5 O 7 I crystals can form a doping energy level and improve the internal electric field, which led to enlarged visible-light absorption and charge separation efficiency during the photocatalytic reaction process. These advantages made Co-BIC crystals exhibit good photocatalytic activities for the removal of antibiotic levofloxacin (LEV), ciprofloxacin (CIP) and tetracycline (TC) under visible LED (100 W) light irradiation. The degradation efficiency of LEV, CIP and TC over the typical Co-BIC-60 catalyst can reach more than 80 % under 60 min of LED irradiation. In the system of Co-BIC activated peroxymonosulfate (PMS), ∼ 90 % of LEV, CIP and TC degraded within 20 min over 20 mg of Co-BIC-60 catalyst. The mechanism of photocatalytic degradation and PMS oxidation degradation over Co-BIC catalysts was proposed on band structures of Co-BIC catalysts and the active species in the capture experiments. This work could provide new ideas for the preparation of bismuth oxyhalide catalysts coupled with transition metal elements.
