Malaysia has experienced its most significant socio-economic setback since the outbreak of COVID-19. Amid this unprecedented health and humanitarian crisis, various stakeholders, including the government, businesses, and community members, generously provided livelihood assistance in various forms to help affected Malaysians, alleviating issues such as hunger, food insecurity, and cash flow constraints. However, the impact of these efforts would not have been as profound without the media's coverage. During the pandemic lockdown, over 80% of Malaysians turned to smartphones and online news to stay abreast of COVID-19 updates. Online news outlets evidently played a pivotal role in safeguarding livelihoods. Drawing upon crisis-response reporting and framing theory, this study examined COVID-19 response reporting in leading Malaysian online news portals. The researchers content analyzed a total of 860 news articles from 2020 through 2021. The findings indicate that these portals not only provided timely information on livelihood relief efforts but also vigorously advocated for more mature pandemic-response policies. Additionally, practical analyses were featured to inspire better-informed decision making during challenging times. However, several limitations were linked to the lack of more balanced and "softer" news coverage. The findings are poised to enrich the literature on little-explored crisis-response reporting. Ferroptosis is a new type of iron-dependent cell death and is involved in many biological processes. Multiple ferroptosis signals affect enzymes and metabolites during glucose metabolism, altering the metabolic pathways of macrophages. In addition, macrophages with different polarization phenotypes have different resistance to ferroptosis, which affects the occurrence and signal transmission of ferroptosis. Therefore, the important process of glucose metabolism in macrophages is targeted to regulate the sensitivity of macrophages to ferroptosis through energy metabolism. In this paper, we review the recent research progress on the effect of ferroptosis signaling on the reprogramming of glucose metabo, lism in macrophages and the regulatory effects of various compounds. Aiming at the problem that silicon-controlled rectifiers (SCR) and pulse width modulation (PWM) rectifiers cannot balance high power levels, high hydrogen production efficiency, and high grid connected quality in the current research on rectifier power supplies for electrolytic hydrogen production, a new hybrid rectifier topology based on a modular multilevel converter (MMC) is proposed. The hybrid topology integrates a silicon-controlled rectifier (SCR) with an auxiliary power converter, wherein the SCR is designated as the primary power source for electrolytic hydrogen production. The auxiliary converter employs a cascaded modular multilevel converter (MMC) and an input-series-output-parallel (ISOP) phase-shifted full-bridge (PSFB) arrangement. This configuration allows the auxiliary converter to effectively mitigate AC-side harmonics and minimize DC-side ripple, concurrently transmitting a small amount of power. The effectiveness of the hybrid rectifier in achieving low ripple and harmonic distortion outputs was substantiated through hardware-in-the-loop experiments. Notably, the hybrid topology is characterized by its enhanced electric-to-hydrogen conversion efficiency, elevated power density, cost efficiency, and improved grid compatibility.
