It is of great importance to treat a bacterial-infected wound by a smart dressing capable of delivering antibiotics in a smart manner without causing drug resistance. The construction of smart release nanocontainers responsive to near-infrared (NIR) laser irradiation in an on-demand and stepwise way is a promising strategy for avoiding the emergence of multidrug-resistant bacteria. Here, we develop a hydrogel composite made of alginate and nanotubes with an efficient NIR-triggered release of rifampicin and outstanding antibacterial ability. This composite hydrogel is prepared through co-encapsulating antibacterial drug (rifampicin), NIR-absorbing dye (indocyanine green), and phase-change materials (a eutectic mixture of fatty acids) into halloysite nanotubes, followed by incorporation into alginate hydrogels, allowing the in-situ gelation at room temperature and maintaining the integrity of drug-loaded nanotubes. Among them, the eutectic mixture with a melting point of 39 °C serves as the biocompatible phase-change material to facilitate the NIR-triggered drug release. The resultant phase-change material gated-nanotubes exhibit a prominent photothermal efficiency with multistep drug release under laser irradiation. In an in vitro assay, composite hydrogel provides good antibacterial potency against Staphylococcus aureus, one of the most prevalent microorganisms of dangerous gas gangrene. A bacterial-infected rat full-thickness wound model demonstrates that the NIR-responsive composite hydrogel inhibits the bacteria colonization and suppresses the inflammatory response caused by bacteria, promoting angiogenesis and collagen deposition to accelerate wound regeneration. The NIR-responsive composite hydrogel has a great potential as an antibacterial wound dressing functionalized with controlled multistep treatment of the infected sites.

Abstract Background Asthma is a heterogeneous disease with high morbidity. Advancement in high-throughput multi-omics approaches has enabled the collection of molecular assessments at different layers, providing a complementary perspective of complex diseases. Numerous computational methods have been developed for the omics-based patient classification or disease outcome prediction. Yet, a systematic benchmarking of those methods using various combinations of omics data for the prediction of asthma development is still lacking. Objective We aimed to investigate the computational methods in disease status prediction using multi-omics data. Method We systematically benchmarked 18 computational methods using all the 63 combinations of six omics data (GWAS, miRNA, mRNA, microbiome, metabolome, DNA methylation) collected in The Vitamin D Antenatal Asthma Reduction Trial (VDAART) cohort. We evaluated each method using standard performance metrics for each of the 63 omics combinations. Results Our results indicate that overall Logistic Regression, Multi-Layer Perceptron, and MOGONET display superior performance, and the combination of transcriptional, genomic and microbiome data achieves the best prediction. Moreover, we find that including the clinical data can further improve the prediction performance for some but not all the omics combinations. Conclusions Specific omics combinations can reach the optimal prediction of asthma development in children. And certain computational methods showed superior performance than other methods.

Recent research has highlighted structural and functional abnormalities in the cerebral cortex of patients with premature ejaculation (PE). These anomalies could play a pivotal role in the physiological mechanisms underlying PE. This study leveraged functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), a noninvasive technique, to explore these neural mechanisms. We conducted resting-state fMRI scans on 36 PE patients and 22 healthy controls (HC), and collected data on Premature Ejaculation Diagnostic Tool (PEDT) scores and intravaginal ejaculation latency time (IELT). Employing a surface-based regional homogeneity (ReHo) approach, we analyzed local neural synchronous spontaneous activity, diverging from previous studies that utilized a volume-based ReHo method. Areas with significant ReHo differences between PE and HC groups underwent surface-based functional connectivity (FC) analysis. Significant discrepancies in ReHo and FC across the cortical surface were observed in the PE cohort. Notably, PE patients exhibited decreased ReHo in the left triangular inferior frontal gyrus and enhanced ReHo in the right middle frontal gyrus. The latter showed heightened connectivity with the left lingual gyrus and the right orbital superior frontal gyrus. Furthermore, a correlation between ReHo and FC values with PEDT scores and IELT was found in the PE group. Our findings, derived from surface-based fMRI data, underscore specific brain regions linked to the neurobiological underpinnings of PE.

In this paper, we formulate Subcarrier Assignment and Discrete Power Allocation for multi-UAV millimeter-wave cooperative Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) networks as a joint optimization problem considering the heterogeneous user data rate quality-of-service (QoS) requirements. The formulated joint optimization problem, named Discrete Power and Subcarrier Allocation (DPSA), is a nonconvex and mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINP) problem, making it NP-hard to solve. We then transform the DPSA into the Subcarrier and Power Resource Efficient Cooperative Potential Game (SRECPG) based on game theory which facilitates distributed execution. We analyze the conditions under which a Nash Equilibrium (NE) exists in the SRECPG and provide rigorous proof of its existence. Furthermore, to enhance computational efficiency, we propose a BR-SSO algorithm based on better response dynamics. BR-SSO dramatically reduces the computational burden compared to the best response dynamics based on local exhaustive search (BRLES) while still ensuring convergence to a NE. Through extensive simulations, we demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed SRECPG and BR-SSO algorithms. The results show significant improvements in throughput, fairness, and QoS guarantees compared to the baseline schemes. Our approach offers valuable insights into the design of efficient resource allocation schemes for multi-UAV millimeter-wave networks with varying QoS demands.

Abstract Objective: In the field of nutritional epidemiology, principal component analysis (PCA) has been used extensively in identifying dietary patterns. Recently, compositional data analysis (CoDA) has emerged as an alternative approach for obtaining dietary patterns. We aimed to directly compare and evaluate the ability of PCA and principal balances analysis (PBA), a data-driven method in CoDA, in identifying dietary patterns and their associations with the risk of hypertension. Design: Cohort study. A 24-h dietary recall questionnaire was used to collect dietary data. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to analyse the association between dietary patterns and hypertension. Setting: 2004 and 2009 China Health and Nutrition Survey. Participants: A total of 3892 study participants aged 18–60 years were included as the subjects. Results: PCA and PBA identified five patterns each. PCA patterns comprised a linear combination of all food groups, whereas PBA patterns included several food groups with zero loadings. The coarse cereals pattern identified by PBA was inversely associated with hypertension risk (highest quintile: OR = 0·74 (95 % CI 0·57, 0·95); P for trend = 0·037). None of the five PCA patterns was associated with hypertension. Compared with the PCA patterns, the PBA patterns were clearly interpretable and accounted for a higher percentage of variance in food intake. Conclusions: Findings showed that PBA might be an appropriate and promising approach in dietary pattern analysis. Higher adherence to the coarse cereals dietary pattern was associated with a lower risk of hypertension. Nevertheless, the advantages of PBA over PCA should be confirmed in future studies.

HIV-1 associated colorectal cancer (HA-CRC) is one of the most understudied non-AIDS-defining cancers. In this study, we analyzed the proteome of HA-CRC and the paired remote tissues (HA-RT) through data-independent acquisition mass spectrometry (MS). The quantified proteins could differentiate the HA-CRC and HA-RT groups per PCA or cluster analyses. As a background comparison, we reanalyzed the MS data of non-HIV-1 infected CRC (non-HA-CRC) published by CPTAC. According to the GSEA results, we found that HA-CRC and non-HA-CRC shared similarly over-represented KEGG pathways. Hallmark analysis suggested that terms of antiviral response were only significantly enriched in HA-CRC. The network and molecular system analysis centered the crosstalk of IFN-associated antiviral response and cancerous pathways, which was favored by significant up-regulation of ISGylated proteins as detected in the HA-CRC tissues. We further proved that defective HIV-1 reservoir cells as represented by the 8E5 cells could activate the IFN pathway in human macrophages via horizonal transfer of cell-associated HIV-1 RNA (CA-HIV RNA) carried by extracellular vesicles (EVs). In conclusion, HIV-1 reservoir cells secreted and CA-HIV RNA-containing EVs can induce IFN pathway activation in macrophages that contributes to one of the mechanistic explanations of the systems crosstalk between antiviral response and cancerous pathways in HA-CRC.

Abstract Introduction Compared with traditional fundus examination techniques, ultra-widefield fundus (UWF) images provide 200° panoramic images of the retina, which allows better detection of peripheral retinal lesions. The advent of UWF provides effective solutions only for detection but still lacks efficient diagnostic capabilities. This study proposed a retinal lesion detection model to automatically locate and identify six relatively typical and high-incidence peripheral retinal lesions from UWF images which will enable early screening and rapid diagnosis. Methods A total of 24,602 augmented ultra-widefield fundus images with labels corresponding to 6 peripheral retinal lesions and normal manifestation labelled by 5 ophthalmologists were included in this study. An object detection model named You Only Look Once X (YOLOX) was modified and trained to locate and classify the six peripheral retinal lesions including rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD), retinal breaks (RB), white without pressure (WWOP), cystic retinal tuft (CRT), lattice degeneration (LD), and paving-stone degeneration (PSD). We applied coordinate attention block and generalized intersection over union (GIOU) loss to YOLOX and evaluated it for accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, precision, F1 score, and average precision (AP). This model was able to show the exact location and saliency map of the retinal lesions detected by the model thus contributing to efficient screening and diagnosis. Results The model reached an average accuracy of 96.64%, sensitivity of 87.97%, specificity of 98.04%, precision of 87.01%, F1 score of 87.39%, and mAP of 86.03% on test dataset 1 including 248 UWF images and reached an average accuracy of 95.04%, sensitivity of 83.90%, specificity of 96.70%, precision of 78.73%, F1 score of 81.96%, and mAP of 80.59% on external test dataset 2 including 586 UWF images, showing this system performs well in distinguishing the six peripheral retinal lesions. Conclusion Focusing on peripheral retinal lesions, this work proposed a deep learning model, which automatically recognized multiple peripheral retinal lesions from UWF images and localized exact positions of lesions. Therefore, it has certain potential for early screening and intelligent diagnosis of peripheral retinal lesions.

Penalized Cox regression can efficiently be used for the determination of biomarkers in high-dimensional genomic data related to disease prognosis. However, results of Penalized Cox regression is influenced by the heterogeneity of the samples who have different dependent structure between survival time and covariates from most individuals. These observations are called influential observations or outliers. A robust penalized Cox model (Reweighted Elastic Net-type maximum trimmed partial likelihood estimator, Rwt MTPL-EN) is proposed to improve the prediction accuracy and identify influential observations. A new algorithm AR-Cstep to solve Rwt MTPL-EN model is also proposed. This method has been validated by simulation study and application to glioma microarray expression data. When there were no outliers, the results of Rwt MTPL-EN were close to the Elastic Net (EN). When outliers existed, the results of EN were impacted by outliers. And whenever the censored rate was large or low, the robust Rwt MTPL-EN performed better than EN. and could resist the outliers in both predictors and response. In terms of outliers detection accuracy, Rwt MTPL-EN was much higher than EN. The outliers who "lived too long" made EN perform worse, but were accurately detected by Rwt MTPL-EN. Through the analysis of glioma gene expression data, most of the outliers identified by EN were those "failed too early", but most of them were not obvious outliers according to risk estimated from omics data or clinical variables. Most of the outliers identified by Rwt MTPL-EN were those who "lived too long", and most of them were obvious outliers according to risk estimated from omics data or clinical variables. Rwt MTPL-EN can be adopted to detect influential observations in high-dimensional survival data.

Abstract The access of large‐scale renewable energy and power electronic equipment to the power grid makes the power source and short‐circuit paths possess time‐varying characteristics when faults occur, which has a serious impact on the traditional protection based on power frequency components. Besides, higher requirements are needed for relay protection in the power grid. The transient fault current contains a large amount of fault information. First, the bus capacitance has a strong reflection effect on the high frequency signal, and there are obvious differences in the high frequency component of the fault current of internal and external faults. Next, a transient quantity algorithm based on sequential overlapping derivative transform is introduced. The algorithm can effectively suppress the low frequency component and enhance the high frequency component in the current, which simply and effectively highlights the difference between the transient current of internal and external faults. Finally, through the ratio of high frequency energy of each outgoing line, the fault direction can be accurately determined, and the transient directional pilot protection can be formed. The accuracy of the protection scheme is verified by a large number of simulation experiments.

Small-molecule ionic liquids (ILs) are frequently employed as efficient bulk phase modifiers for perovskite materials. However, their inherent characteristics, such as high volatility and ion migration properties, pose challenges in addressing the stability issues associated with perovskite solar cells (PSCs). In this study, we design a poly(IL) with multiple active sites, named poly[4-styrenesulfonyl(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide]pyridine (P[STFSI][PPyri]), as an efficient additive of perovskite materials. The S=O in the sulfonyl group chelates with uncoordinated Pb2+ and forms hydrogen bonds with the organic cations in the perovskite, suppressing the volatilization of the organic cations. The N+ in pyridine can fix halide ions through electrostatic interaction with I− and Br− ions to prevent halide ion migration. P[STFSI][PPyri] demonstrates the ability to passivate defects and suppress nonradiative recombination in PSCs. Additionally, it facilitates the fixation of organic and halide ions, thereby enhancing the device’s stability and photoelectric performance. Consequently, the introduction of P[STFSI][PPyri] as a dopant in the devices resulted in an excellent efficiency of 24.62%, demonstrating outstanding long-term operational stability, with the encapsulated device maintaining 87.6% of its initial efficiency even after 1500 h of continuous maximum power point tracking. This strategy highlights the promising potential of poly(IL) as an effective additive for PSCs, providing a combination of high performance and stability.

In this study, an innovative approach based on multimodal data and the transformer model was proposed to address challenges in agricultural disease detection and question-answering systems. This method effectively integrates image, text, and sensor data, utilizing deep learning technologies to profoundly analyze and process complex agriculture-related issues. The study achieved technical breakthroughs and provides new perspectives and tools for the development of intelligent agriculture. In the task of agricultural disease detection, the proposed method demonstrated outstanding performance, achieving a precision, recall, and accuracy of 0.95, 0.92, and 0.94, respectively, significantly outperforming the other conventional deep learning models. These results indicate the method’s effectiveness in identifying and accurately classifying various agricultural diseases, particularly excelling in handling subtle features and complex data. In the task of generating descriptive text from agricultural images, the method also exhibited impressive performance, with a precision, recall, and accuracy of 0.92, 0.88, and 0.91, respectively. This demonstrates that the method can not only deeply understand the content of agricultural images but also generate accurate and rich descriptive texts. The object detection experiment further validated the effectiveness of our approach, where the method achieved a precision, recall, and accuracy of 0.96, 0.91, and 0.94. This achievement highlights the method’s capability for accurately locating and identifying agricultural targets, especially in complex environments. Overall, the approach in this study not only demonstrated exceptional performance in multiple tasks such as agricultural disease detection, image captioning, and object detection but also showcased the immense potential of multimodal data and deep learning technologies in the application of intelligent agriculture.

Task assignment is of paramount importance in multi-AUV systems, particularly in applications such as bridge inspection where task execution is direction-specific. In such scenarios, the underactuation of AUVs is a critical factor that cannot be ignored. Therefore, it is essential to consider the AUV’s kinematic model comprehensively to ensure minimal energy consumption during task execution. In this paper, we introduce an improved Reeds–Shepp algorithm in conjunction with a distributed auction approach. We treat AUVs as car-like models in our approach, paying meticulous attention to their operational characteristics during path planning. Importantly, we effectively utilize their backward driving capabilities. Our analysis reveals that this model successfully fulfills the directional requirements of detection tasks. Furthermore, the distributed auction approach optimizes the overall task distribution in the multi-AUV system. We support our method with simulation results that underscore its effectiveness.

Evidence of the precise biological pathway responsible for acute cardiovascular events triggered by particulate matter (PM) exposure from anthropogenic emissions is sparse. We investigated the associations of biomarkers relevant to the pathophysiology of atherothrombosis (ceramide metabolism, pro-inflammatory response, and blood coagulation) with primary and secondary components in particulate matter with aerodynamic diameters less than 2.5 μm (PM2.5). A total of 152 healthy participants were followed with four repeated clinical visits between September 2019 and January 2020 in Beijing. Exposure to ambient inorganic aerosols (sulfate, nitrate, ammonium, and chloride), as well as organic aerosols (OA) in PM2.5, was measured by a real-time aerosol chemical speciation monitor, and sources of OA were performed by positive matrix factorization. We found significant increases of 101.9–397.9% in ceramide indicators associated with interquartile-range increases in inorganic aerosols and OA prior to 72 h of exposure. Higher levels of organic and inorganic aerosols in PM2.5 were associated with increases of 3.1–6.0% in normal T cells regulated upon activation and expressed and secreted relevant to the pro-inflammatory response; increases of 276.9–541.5% were observed in D-dimers relevant to coagulation. Detrimental effects were further observed following OA exposure from fossil fuel combustion. Mediation analyses indicated that ceramide metabolism could mediate the associations of PM2.5 components with pro-inflammatory responses. Our findings expand upon the current understanding of potential pathophysiological pathways of cardiovascular events posed by ambient particulates and highlight the importance of reducing primary and secondary PM from anthropogenic combustions.

At present, the situation regarding heavy metal pollution in aquatic environments is becoming more and more serious. The bioaccumulation of heavy metals in aquatic plants causes obvious phytotoxicity, which can also induce secondary pollution in the aquatic environment. Zinc and copper, as indispensable elements for plant growth, are also prominent heavy metals in water pollution in China, and their concentrations play a crucial role in plant growth. In this study, we investigated the response of Pistia stratiotes (P. stratiotes) to different concentrations of Zn and Cu, and the results showed that plant growth and photosynthesis were inhibited under both Zn (1, 2, 4, and 8 mg/L) and Cu (0.2, 0.4, 0.8, and 1 mg/L) stresses. The relative growth rates of P. stratiotes under 8 mg/L Zn or 1 mg/L Cu stress were 6.33% and 6.90%, which were much lower than those in the control group (10.86%). Meanwhile, Zn and Cu stress caused insignificant change in the relative water contents of plants. The decrease in phlorophyll fluorescence parameters and chlorophyll contents suggested the significant photoinhibition of Zn and Cu stress. Chemical analysis of plant root exudates showed that the root secretion species obtained by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) mainly included amino acids, alkanes, aldehydes, ketones, phenols, and more. Compared with the control group, the influence of Zn or Cu on the reduction in relative amounts of exudates was greater than that on the increase. The results of this study provide important data for the utilization of P. stratiotes in heavy metal-polluted water environments.

The effects of ultrasonic treatment on grain refinement and hydrogen removal in three kinds of magnesium alloys—Mg-3Ca, Mg-6Zn-1Ca, and AZ80 alloys—were investigated in this study. After ultrasonic treatment, the grains of the magnesium alloys were refined to varying degrees. The degassing effect was characterized by measuring the densities and hydrogen content of ingots. The results indicated that the application of ultrasonic treatment in these magnesium alloys was able to remove hydrogen and obviously refine the microstructure. In this experiment, both the measurement of the density of the ingots and the solid-state hydrogen measurement reflected the degree of degassing. The highest degassing efficiencies were 53.8%, 67.5%, and 34.9% for the Mg-3Ca, Mg-6Zn-1Ca, and AZ80 alloys, respectively. The lowest hydrogen content of the AZ80 alloy reached 8.2 cm3/100 g, and the corresponding tensile strengths were 174 Mpa, 79 Mpa, and 6.2%, which represented increases of 41.5%, 38.6%, and 87.9%, respectively. The cavitation effect and acoustic streaming effect with an appropriate ultrasonic treatment duration resulted in grain refinement, degassing, and the uniform dispersion of second phases. This can significantly improve mechanical properties and provide a basis for industrial production.

Drip irrigation with brackish water increases the risk of soil salinization while alleviating water shortage in arid areas. In order to alleviate soil salinity stress on crops, polymer soil amendments are increasingly used. But the regulation mechanism of a polymer soil amendment composed of polyacrylamide polyvinyl alcohol, and manganese sulfate (PPM) on rapeseed photosynthesis under drip irrigation with different types of brackish water is still unclear. In this field study, PPM was applied to study the responses of the rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) phenotype, photosynthetic physiology, transcriptomics, and metabolomics at the peak flowering stage under drip irrigation with water containing 6 g·L−1 NaCl (S) and Na2CO3 (A). The results showed that the inhibitory effect of the A treatment on rapeseed photosynthesis was greater than that of the S treatment, which was reflected in the higher Na+ content (73.30%) and lower photosynthetic-fluorescence parameters (6.30–61.54%) and antioxidant enzyme activity (53.13–77.10%) of the A-treated plants. The application of PPM increased the biomass (63.03–75.91%), photosynthetic parameters (10.55–34.06%), chlorophyll fluorescence parameters (33.83–62.52%), leaf pigment content (10.30–187.73%), and antioxidant enzyme activity (28.37–198.57%) under S and A treatments. However, the difference is that under the S treatment, PPM regulated the sulfur metabolism, carbon fixation and carbon metabolism pathways in rapeseed leaves. And it also regulated the photosynthesis-, oxidative phosphorylation-, and TCA cycle-related metabolic pathways in rapeseed leaves under A treatment. This study will provide new insights for the application of polymer materials to tackle the salinity stress on crops caused by drip irrigation with brackish water, and solve the difficulty in brackish water utilization.

The scent system of Danaus is important for the study of butterfly sexual communication and relevant investigations in biomimetics due to its involvement with mimicry. Using light, scanning, and transmission electron microscopy, the morphological characteristics of Danaus’ antennae and scent patches of the scent system for three species, D. chrysippus, D. genutia, and D. plexippus, were investigated herein. Their apical clubs of the flagellums contain sensilla trichodea, sensilla chaetica, and sensilla coeloconica. The scent patch scales typically have a tree-like structure in its lumen at the nano-scale. Comparisons were made between the androconial scales and the other scales in scent patches. Rank sum tests showed significant differences in scent patch scales’ characteristics between the species, as well as in the ultrastructure of antennal segments between species and sexes. Spearman’s correlation tests showed significant correlations between the morphological characteristics of androconial scales in scent patches. Moreover, the antennal characteristics were significantly correlated. The morphological characteristics of the females’ antennae were significantly correlated with those of the males’ antennae and androconial scales. However, the significance and coefficient of these correlations were inconsistent across species and sexes. This study provides fundamental morphological information that helps in understanding the pheromone recognition system of Danaus.

Onychomycosis is an under-recognized healthcare burden. Despite the risk of misdiagnosis, confirmatory laboratory testing is under-utilized. Histopathologic examination with polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is currently the most effective diagnostic method; it offers direct detection and identification of a fungal invasion. In this retrospective cohort study, we assessed confirmatory testing results, with matching clinical diagnoses, in 96,293 nail specimens submitted during a 9-month period from 2022 to 2023. Toenail specimens were examined using fungal culture, histopathology and/or PCR. Clinical diagnoses were identified using the International Classification of Diseases 10th Revision codes. For clinically diagnosed onychomycosis patients, the overall positivity rate was 59.4%; a similar positivity rate (59.5%) was found in patients with clinically diagnosed non-fungal nail dystrophy. Performing a histopathologic examination with PCR was more likely to provide pathogen identification results than using fungal culture. Male patients had a higher rate of onychomycosis overall; however, female patients had more non-dermatophyte mold onychomycosis caused by Aspergillus. Clinically diagnosed onychomycosis patients with a co-diagnosis of tinea pedis were more likely to test positive for onychomycosis by PCR (odds ratio [OR]: 4.2; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 2.7–6.4), histopathology (OR: 2.5; 95% CI: 2.0–3.1) and fungal culture (OR: 3.2; 95% CI: 1.5–6.6). Our results support the use of confirmatory laboratory testing when there is a clinical diagnosis of onychomycosis.

The UAV-borne video SAR (ViSAR) imaging system requires miniaturization, low power consumption, high frame rates, and high-resolution real-time imaging. In order to satisfy the requirements of real-time imaging processing for the UAV-borne ViSAR under limited memory and parallel computing resources, this paper proposes a method of embedded GPU-based real-time imaging processing for the UAV-borne ViSAR. Based on a parallel programming model of the compute unified device architecture (CUDA), this paper designed a parallel computing method for range-Doppler (RD) and map drift (MD) algorithms. By utilizing the advantages of the embedded GPU characterized with parallel computing, we improved the processing speed of real-time ViSAR imaging. This paper also adopted a unified memory management method, which greatly reduces data replication and communication latency between the CPU and the GPU. The data processing of 2048 × 2048 points took only 1.215 s on the Jetson AGX Orin platform to form a nine-consecutive-frame image with a resolution of 0.15 m, with each frame taking only 0.135 s, enabling real-time imaging at a high frame rate of 5 Hz. In actual testing, continuous mapping can be achieved without losing the scenes, intuitively obtaining the dynamic observation effects of the area. The processing results of the measured data have verified the reliability and effectiveness of the proposed scheme, satisfying the processing requirements for real-time ViSAR imaging.

Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) are greenhouse gases and ozone-depleting substances, and existing HCFC emission studies lack a comprehensive study of multiple HCFCs in a single consumption sector. China is a large producer and consumer of HCFCs. The HCFC bank in foam sector in 2019 accounted for 91.3% of the national total, and foam sector was also the second largest source of HCFC emissions. Therefore, the estimation of HCFC emissions and banks for the foam sector is quite important. In this study, the multiple HCFC emission inventory for foam sector in eastern China from 2000 to 2019 was first established by using the bottom-up method. The results showed that the HCFC emissions and bank were 14.9 kt and 453.5 kt in 2019. HCFC-141b used in the polyurethane (PU) foam sector had the largest annual emissions, cumulative emissions, and bank due to its high consumption. The total emissions of HCFC-22 and HCFC-142b used in the extruded polystyrene (XPS) foam sector were similar to those of HCFC-141b. The HCFC emissions from the foam sector were mainly distributed among the three provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shandong. The cumulative GWP- and ODP-weighted emissions of HCFCs were 240.6 Mt CO _2 -eq and 14.3 kt CFC-11-eq, respectively. The results showed that in order to response to climate change or ozone depletion, we should prioritize the emission reduction of HCFC-22 and XPS foam sector, or HCFC-141b and PU foam sector.

Investing in entrepreneurship may be costly, and therefore risky, and entrepreneurship is also an economic endeavor that is highly dependent on entrepreneurial ability and risk appetite. In this study, data from 669 famers in southwest China were used as the sample, and we used three different methods to measure farmers’ risk aversion level, including DOSPRET (Domain-Specific Risk-Taking), SOEP (Simple Self-Report), and BRET (Bomb Risk Elicitation Task). This paper studies the impact of farmers’ risk aversion on entrepreneurial choices and the moderating impact of the migrant work experience (MWE) on the relationship between risk aversion and entrepreneurship. The results can be summarized as follows: Firstly, entrepreneurial farmers have lower average levels of risk aversion than non-entrepreneurial farmers. Secondly, risk aversion has a significant negative impact on farmers’ choice of entrepreneurship, corporate entrepreneurship and portfolio entrepreneurship. Thirdly, MWE can reduces the negative impact of risk aversion on a decision to enter entrepreneurship or portfolio entrepreneurship. Fourth, MWE in local or nearby areas reduces the negative effects of risk aversion on entrepreneurship and portfolio entrepreneurship, while MWE in coastal and developed cities increases the negative effects.

Prestressed concrete composite girder bridges with corrugated steel webs (PCCGBCSWs) are extensively employed in bridge construction because of their low dead weight, fast construction, and high prestressing efficiency. Moreover, PCCGBCSWs will experience deformation and failure of the corrugated steel webs, including steel fatigue and fracture, during earthquakes. These changes will introduce safety hazards, which can be addressed via bridge disaster prevention and mitigation. Because near-fault pulse-like ground motions (NFPLGMs) have high peak accelerations, these motions can easily cause damage to a bridge. Therefore, in this study, a seismic fragility assessment is performed for long-unit PCCGBCSWs subjected to NFPLGMs considering spatial variability effects, and a sensitivity evaluation of the seismic fragility is conducted considering girder type, bearing type, ground motion type, and apparent wave velocity to offer a point of reference for seismic design. The results show that PCCGBCSWs are less vulnerable than concrete bridges. The shock absorption effect of the friction pendulum bearing is better than that of the viscous damper. The impact of NFPLGMs on bridges is greater than that of near-fault non-pulse-like ground motions (NFNPLMs) and far-fault ground motions (FFGMs). The seismic fragility under nonuniform excitation conditions is greater than that under uniform excitation conditions, showing an increasing trend with decreasing apparent wave velocity.

The space–time adaptive processing (STAP) technique can effectively suppress the ground clutter faced by the airborne radar during its downward-looking operation and thus can significantly improve the detection performance of moving targets. However, the optimal STAP requires a large number of independent identically distributed (i.i.d) samples to accurately estimate the clutter plus noise covariance matrix (CNCM), which limits its application in practice. In this paper, we fully consider the heterogeneity of clutter in real-world environments and propose a sparse Bayesian learning-based reduced-dimension STAP method that achieves suboptimal clutter suppression performance using only a single sample. First, the sparse Bayesian learning (SBL) algorithm is used to estimate the CNCM using a single training sample. Second, a novel angular Doppler channel selection algorithm is proposed with the criterion of maximizing the output signal-to-clutter-noise ratio (SCNR). Finally, the reduced-dimension STAP filter is constructed using the selected channels. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve suboptimal clutter suppression performance in extremely heterogeneous clutter environments where only one training sample can be used.

Community participation in research involving stigmatized populations has been sub-optimal, and digital tools could potentially increase participation in qualitative research. This study aims to describe the implementation of an online chat-based FGD (Focus Group Discussion) with men who have sex with men (MSM) in China as part of formative research for the PIONEER project, determine the advantages and limitations associated with the approach, and assess the feasibility of deepening community participation in STI research. Participants were involved in four days of asynchronous FGDs on sexually transmitted diseases and answered questions about the online FGD method. Online FGDs allowed us to deepen participant engagement through bidirectional communication channels. Data from online FGDs directly informed recruitment strategies and community participation for a clinical trial. Overall, 63% (29/46) of men who had never participated in offline LGBTQ + activities joined online FGDs. Many participants (89%, 41/46) noted that online FGDs were more convenient, less socially awkward, and more anonymous than in-person qualitative research. We highlighted potential risks as well as mitigation strategies when using online FGDs. Online FGDs were feasible among this group of sexual minorities and may be particularly useful in many cities where stigma limits in-person research participation.

ObjectiveIn recent years, the utilization of indocyanine green near-infrared (ICG NIR) light imaging-guided lymph node dissection in the context of minimally invasive radical gastric cancer has emerged as a novel avenue for investigation. The objective of this study was to assess the influence of employing this technique for guiding lymph node dissection on the short-term clinical outcomes of minimally invasive radical gastric cancer surgery.MethodsThe present study conducted a comprehensive search for short-term clinical outcomes, comparing the group undergoing ICG NIR light imaging-guided lymph node dissection with the control group, by thoroughly examining relevant literature from the inception to July 2023 in renowned databases such as PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library. The primary endpoints encompassed postoperative complications, including abdominal infection, abdominal bleeding, pneumonia, anastomotic fistula, and overall incidence of complications (defined as any morbidity categorized as Clavien-Dindo class I or higher within 30 days post-surgery or during hospitalization). Additionally, secondary outcome measures consisted of the time interval until the initiation of postoperative gas and food intake, as well as various other parameters, namely postoperative hospital stay, operative time, intraoperative blood loss, total number of harvested lymph nodes, and the number of harvested metastatic lymph nodes. To ensure methodological rigor, the Cochrane Collaboration Risk of Bias Tool and the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) were employed to assess the quality of the included studies, while statistical analyses were performed using Review Manager 5.4 software and Stata, version 12.0 software.ResultsA total of 19 studies including 3103 patients were ultimately included (n=1276 in the ICG group and n=1827 in the non-ICG group). In this meta-analysis, the application of ICG near-infrared light imaging in minimally invasive radical gastric cancer surgery effectively improved the occurrence of postoperative Clavien-Dindo grade II or higher complications in patients (RR=0.72, 95% CI 0.52 to 1.00) with a statistically significant P=0.05; in reducing intraoperative blood loss and shortening While reducing intraoperative blood loss and shortening postoperative hospital stay, it could ensure the thoroughness of lymph node dissection in minimally invasive radical gastric cancer surgery (MD=5.575, 95% CI 3.677-7.473) with significant effect size (Z=5.76, p

According to the field static loading test performed on the super-long drilled shaft, the influence of combined grouting on bearing capacity and displacement control ability of super-long drilled shaft was explored. Test results showed that the combined grouting improved the bearing capacity of super-long drilled shafts by about 70%–80%. The combined grouting enhanced the shaft side resistance, and the proportion of side resistance fncreased after combined grouting. The displacement control ability of super-long drilled shaft was improved after combined grouting, and the maximum shaft base displacement decreases by about 20 mm after grouting. The improvement effect of side resistance was related to the buried depth and soil type. The engineering test results provided references for the application of combined grouting in the super-long drilled shaft.

Summary: Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is a serious complication of diabetes. Elabela (ELA), a ligand of apelin receptor (APJ), was shown to promote angiogenesis and suppress inflammation. This study aimed to illustrate the role of ELA in DFU wound healing. A whole-skin defect model was constructed using db/m and db/db mice to observe the effects of ELA on wound healing. The function of ELA in endothelial cells cultured in high glucose medium was investigated. Administration of ELA in peri-wound area of db/db mice accelerated wound closure and reduced inflammatory infiltration. Indicators of DNA damage, elevated reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels and tail DNA amounts, were downregulated by ELA but compromised after TRAF1 overexpression. ELA-mediated inhibition of NF-κB phosphorylation improved cell migration and angiogenesis, which were blocked by APJ silencing. The findings imply that ELA suppresses TRAF1-mediated NF-κB signal activation, reducing ROS-related oxidative DNA damage and improving protection of endothelial function.

The antitumor effects of traditional drugs have received increasing attention and active antitumor components extracted from traditional drugs have shown good efficacy with minimal adverse events. Cepharanthine(CEP for short) is an active component derived from the Stephania plants of Menispermaceae, which can regulate multiple signaling pathways alone or in combination with other therapeutic drugs to inhibit tumor cell proliferation, induce apoptosis, regulate autophagy, and inhibit angiogenesis, thereby inhibiting tumor progression. Therefore, we retrieved studies concerning CEP's antitumor effects in recent years and summarized the antitumor mechanism and targets, in order to gain new insights and establish a theoretical basis for further development and application of CEP.

Abstract Carbon loading in airway cells has shown to worsen function of antimicrobial peptides, permitting increased survival of pathogens in the respiratory tract; however, data on the impacts of carbon particles on childhood acute respiratory infection (ARI) is limited. We assembled daily health data on outpatient visits for ARI (bronchitis, pneumonia, and total upper respiratory infection [TURI]) in children aged 0–14 years between 2015 and 2019 in Beijing, China. Anthropogenic carbons, including black carbon (BC) and its emission sources, and wood smoke particles (delta carbon, ultra‐violet absorbing particulate matter, and brown carbon) were continuously monitored. Using a time‐stratified case‐crossover approach, conditional logistic regression was performed to derive risk estimates for each outcome. A total of 856,899 children were included, and a wide range of daily carbon particle concentrations was observed, with large variations for BC (0.36–20.44) and delta carbon (0.48–57.66 μg/m3). Exposure to these particles were independently associated with ARI, with nearly linear exposure‐response relationships. Interquartile range increases in concentrations of BC and delta carbon over prior 0–8 days, we observed elevation of the odd ratio of bronchitis by 1.201 (95% confidence interval, 1.180, 1.221) and 1.048 (95% CI, 1.039, 1.057), respectively. Stronger association was observed for BC from traffic sources, which increased the odd ratio of bronchitis by 1.298 (95% CI, 1.273, 1.324). Carbon particles were also associated with elevated risks of pneumonia and TURI, and subgroup analyses indicated greater risks among children older than 6 years. Our findings suggested that anthropogenic carbons in metropolitan areas may pose a significant threat to clinical manifestations of respiratory infections in vulnerable populations.

Two-dimensional (2D) CrB4 and MoB4 monolayers are typical graphene-like materials with excellent electrical transport properties and high structural stability. Yet, their thermal transport properties are unknown. By first-principles calculations and solving the Boltzmann transport equation iteratively, we report low lattice thermal conductivity (κl) of CrB4 and MoB4 monolayers. At room temperature, κl of CrB4 and MoB4 monolayers are 31.19 and 96.59 W/mK, respectively. This trend is against the well-known Slack’s guideline that the same type of materials with greater atomic mass generally have lower κl. The cause of this anomaly is analyzed from the first-principles harmonic and anharmonic parameters. It is surprising that no obvious correlation is observed between three-phonon scattering rates and mode Grüneisen parameters, despite their common determination by third-order interatomic force constants and one-to-one mode correspondence. The applicability of Grüneisen parameters to searching for novel materials with low κl is discussed from a theoretical viewpoint.

Our previous studies have demonstrated that the crosstalk between astrocytes and microglia may trigger and amplify the neuroinflammatory response and, in turn, cause brain edema in 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCE)-intoxicated mice. Moreover, findings from our in vitro studies showed that astrocytes are more sensitive to 2-chloroethanol (2-CE), an intermediate metabolite of 1,2-DCE, than microglia, and 2-CE-induced reactive astrocytes (RAs) can promote microglia polarization through releasing the pro-inflammatory mediators. Therefore, it is essential to explore therapeutic agents that may ameliorate microglia polarization through inhibition of 2-CE-induced RAs, which remains unclear till now. Results of this study revealed that exposure to 2-CE could induce RAs with pro-inflammatory effects, and fluorocitrate (FC), GIBH-130 (GI) and diacerein (Dia) pretreatment could all abolish the pro-inflammatory effects of 2-CE-induced RAs. FC and GI pretreatment might suppress 2-CE-induced RAs through inhibition of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK)/activator protein-1 (AP-1) and nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-κB) signaling pathways, but Dia pretreatment might only inhibit p38 MAPK/NF-κB signaling pathway. FC, GI, and Dia pretreatment could all suppress the pro-inflammatory microglia polarization through inhibition of 2-CE-induced RAs. Meanwhile, GI and Dia pretreatment could also restored the anti-inflammatory microglia polarization via inhibition of 2-CE-induced RAs. However, FC pretreatment could not affect the anti-inflammatory polarization of microglia through inhibition of 2-CE-induced RAs. Taken together, findings from the present study demonstrated that FC, GI, and Dia might be the potential candidates with different characteristic for therapeutic use in 1,2-DCE poisoning.

Abstract Extracellular vesicles (EVs) and their clinical applications have been recognized as one of the most fast‐growing and promising fields. Numerous groups including us have expressed their concerns on the idea of isolating “pure” EVs for different purposes, as there are no specific markers to date that can examine the exact EV purity. Typically, major instrument need and EV yielding loss are primary compensations of getting EVs with higher purity. As such, especially in biomarker‐based clinical tests, ceaseless efforts for obtaining more pure EV are worth of discussion. We here propose alternative philosophy to tone down the importance of purity, but to emphasize the significance in clinical laboratory medicine to measure EVs obtained by well‐controlled isolation methods. As a result, EVs are enriched to the adequate degree to meet certain clinical applications such as disease diagnosis and/or prognosis. In this review, we will justify the adequate enrichment rationale with advances of EV definitions, markers and contaminants, EV isolation methods, as well as the conclusions acquired from clinical research using less pure but ease‐to‐operate EV isolation methods.

Pitch-based carbon fiber, as one of the important engineering materials, has been widely used in aerospace, defense, sports, and other fields. In the long production process of pitch-based carbon fiber, the property of pitch precursor is significant for the mechanical performance of obtained carbon fiber. Thus, it is crucial to improve the property of pitch precursor by efficient means. Halogenation–dehalogenation is a newly developed method for the controllable synthesis of a pitch precursor from the molecular dimension, including fluorination–defluorination, chlorination–dechlorination, and bromination–debromination. This work reviewed the mechanism and application, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each halogenation–dehalogenation method.

IntroductionTranscranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive intervention that holds promise for improving cognitive function in individuals with Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, the effectiveness of this therapy and the optimal TMS parameters has not reached a consensus. The purpose of the meta-analysis was to systematically discern the effectiveness of different components of TMS protocols on cognitive improvement in patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and AD.MethodsThe meta-analysis was preregistered on Prospero (registration number: CRD42022345482). PubMed, Web of Science, Science Direct, and Cochrane Library databases were used to search, screen and identify eligible studies with the following keywords: Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation OR TMS OR theta burst stimulation AND Alzheimer OR Alzheimers OR Alzheimer's OR mild cognitive impairment OR MCI. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of participants with accepted standardized diagnostic criteria were searched by two authors independently. The risk of bias was assessed using an adapted Cochrane Risk of Bias tool. Standardized mean difference (SMD) and 95% confidence interval (CI) were calculated using the random-effects models. Subgroup analyses were performed to investigate the influential factors.ResultsA total of 21 studies and 25 trials were included in this meta-analysis. The findings revealed a significant overall cognition improvement of real stimulation compared with sham stimulation (short-term effects: SMD, 0.91; 95% CI 0.44–1.38; P < 0.01; long-lasting effects: SMD, 0.91; 95% CI 0.27–1.55; P < 0.01). Subgroup analysis demonstrated that stimulation of the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and bilateral cerebellums, as well as moderate frequency stimulation (5 Hz and 10 Hz) on mild and moderate cognitive impairment patients, were more effective than other TMS protocols. However, the additional application of cognitive training showed no significant improvement.ConclusionCognitive improvement effect of TMS was demonstrated in MCI and AD patients in both short-term assessment and long-lasting outcomes, and the efficiency of TMS is affected by the stimulation frequency, stimulation site, and participant characteristics. Nitrogen deposition and biological invasion are two major components of global environmental change. Nitrogen deposition has been considered to enhance the resource availability of recipient habitats, which influences the invasiveness of plant invader and the invasibility of recipient native communities. Nitrogen deposition has been shown to reduce the relative abundances of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) globally. AMF have been found to mutualistically symbiose with approximately 75% of plant species and act as a nutrient supplier. AMF may modify the structure of native plant communities, collaborate with alien plant invaders and thus promote their invasion. The alien woody invader, Rhus typhina L. has been introduced into North China as a horticultural species, invaded the native plant community and outperformed the native competitors in growth and in photosynthetic efficiency. Nevertheless, little is known about if nitrogen deposition and AMF inoculation synergistically alter the invasibility of native plant community. In this study, R. typhina was subjected to the artificial plant community assembled by four co-existing native species – Chenopodium album L., Vitex negundo var. heterophylla (Franch.) Rehd., Rhus chinensis Mill. and Acer truncatum Bunge in a mesocosm experiment. Nitrogen deposition and AMF inoculation were simulated as environmental and biotic filters respectively. Aboveground biomass and biomass proportion, reflecting plant growth and performance, and specific leaf area and chlorophyll concentration correlated with carbon use and photosynthetic capacity of both the alien invader and the native plants were measured and calculated after harvest. We found that AMF inoculation did not alter the trait variation of alien and native species to increasing nitrogen deposition level in general, although AMF inoculation impeded the increase of aboveground biomass for C. album, V. negundo and native community with increasing nitrogen deposition level. In the scenario of nitrogen deposition and AMF inoculation, a stable status of invasion dynamic may be maintained and needs to be checked with integration of traits at extended temporal scale.

Nitrogen (N) deposition has increased dramatically in recent decades, which is significantly affecting the invasion and growth of exotic plants. Whether N deposition leads to invasive alien species becoming competitively superior to native species remains to be investigated. In the present study, an invasive species (Oenothera biennis L.) and three co-occurring native species (Artemisia argyi Lévl. et Vant., Inula japonica Thunb., and Chenopodium album L.) were grown in a monoculture (two seedlings of the same species) or mixed culture (one seedling of O. biennis and one seedling of a native species) under three levels of N deposition (0, 6, and 12 g∙m−2∙year−1). Nitrogen deposition had no effect on soil N and P content. Nitrogen deposition enhanced the crown area, total biomass, leaf chlorophyll content, and leaf N to phosphorus ratio in both invasive and native plants. Oenothera biennis dominated competition with C. album and I. japonica due to its high resource acquisition and absorption capacity (greater height, canopy, leaf chlorophyll a to chlorophyll b ratio, leaf chlorophyll content, leaf N content, leaf mass fraction, and lower root-to-shoot ratio). However, the native species A. argyi exhibited competitive ability similar to O. biennis. Thus, invasive species are not always superior competitors of native species; this depends on the identities of the native species. High N deposition enhanced the competitive dominance of O. biennis over I. japonica by 15.45% but did not alter the competitive dominance of O. biennis over C. album. Furthermore, N deposition did not affect the dominance of O. biennis or A. argyi. Therefore, the species composition of the native community must be considered when preparing to resist future biological invasions. Our study contributes to a better understanding of the invasion mechanisms of alien species under N-loading conditions.

In this work, the Permian Longtan marine-continental transitional shale in the southeast of Sichuan Basin was taken as study object. Through petrology and geochemical analysis, lithofacies types of the marine-continental transitional shale were classified, key controlling factors of physical properties and gas content of the different shale lithofacies were analyzed. The research results show that the Longtan Formation marine-continental transitional shale in the study area has four types of lithofacies, namely, organic-lean calcareous shale, organic-lean mixed shale, organic-lean argillaceous shale, and organic-rich argillaceous shale, among which the organic-rich argillaceous shale is the most favorable lithofacies of the study area. The pore types of different lithofacies vary significantly and the clay mineral-related pore is the dominant type of the pore system in the study area. The main controlling factor of the physical properties is clay mineral content, and the most important factor affecting gas content is TOC content. Compared with marine shale, the marine-continental transitional shale has low average values, wide distribution range, and strong heterogeneity in TOC content, porosity, and pore structure parameters, but still contains some favorable layers with high physical properties and gas contents. The organic-rich clay shale deposited in tidal flat-lagoon system is most likely to form shale gas sweet spots, so it should be paid more attention in shale gas exploration.

Abstract Space‐time adaptive processing with finite samples is supposed to be a crucial technique for airborne radar systems. Inspired by the application of Gaussian prior in sparse Bayesian learning algorithm and the adaptive least absolute shrinkage and selection operator algorithm, a hierarchical Bayesian framework with adaptive Laplace priors is proposed. In this paper, a novel method is applied to avoid the high‐dimension matrix inverse operation in the proposed algorithm. Moreover, in order to apply the method in the complex‐valued domain, the complex‐valued signal is split into two independent variables. Then, the sparse recovery problem in the complex‐valued domain can be transformed into the real‐value domain. Simulation experiments show that the proposed algorithm can achieve great clutter suppression performance and also ensure high computational efficiency.

An approach to prepare monodisperse polystyrene microspheres with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) characteristics has been developed which shows promising applications in fluorescence-encoding. The micron-sized, monodisperse polystyrene microspheres with AIE molecules were perfectly synthesized by two-stage dispersion polymerization. Fluorescent AIE monomer was synthesized by Suzuki reaction, confirmed by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). These AIE fluorogens (AIEgens) exhibited unique properties such as bright green emission in solid state and increased emission in tetrahydrofuran (THF) solution with the increase of water content. The influence of the AIE molecules concentration to microspheres synthesis was well investigated. The reaction conditions were optimized to obtain the functional polystyrene microspheres with a size distribution around 3%. The novel microspheres were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), confocal fluorescence microscope and flow cytometry. According to these results, two-stage dispersion polymerization was proved to be an efficient pathway for the preparation of AIE fluorescent and functionalized microspheres, which could be used in many biomedical industries.

Abstract Switch/sucrose-nonfermenting (SWI/SNF) complexes play a key role in chromatin remodeling. Recent studies have found that SMARCC2, as the core subunit of the fundamental module of the complex, plays a key role in its early assembly. In this study, we found a unique function of SMARCC2 in inhibiting the progression of glioblastoma by targeting the DKK1 signaling axis. Low expression of SMARCC2 is found in malignant glioblastoma (GBM) compared with low-grade gliomas. SMARCC2 knockout promoted the proliferation of glioblastoma cells, while its overexpression showed the opposite effect. Mechanistically, SMARCC2 negatively regulates transcription by dynamically regulating the chromatin structure and closing the promoter region of the target gene DKK1, which can be bound by the transcription factor EGR1. DKK1 knockdown significantly reduced the proliferation of glioblastoma cell lines by inhibiting the PI3K–AKT pathway. We also studied the functions of the SWIRM and SANT domains of SMARCC2 and found that the SWIRM domain plays a more important role in the complete chromatin remodeling function of SMARCC2. In addition, in vivo studies confirmed that overexpression of SMARCC2 could significantly inhibit the size of intracranial gliomas in situ in nude mice. Overall, this study shows that SMARCC2, as a tumor suppressor, inhibits the proliferation of glioblastoma by targeting the transcription of the oncogene DKK1 through chromatin remodeling, indicating that SMARCC2 is a potentially attractive therapeutic target in glioblastoma.

Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurement could provide information during the formation and dissociation of gas hydrate on the pore structure properties which are of great important to understand the gas production behavior. In this study, the in–situ NMR and other well logging data achieved during the natural gas hydrate drilling program were used to study the pore size and hydrate formation properties in the Shenhu area, South China Sea by comparing transverse magnetic relaxation time (T2) distributions between the gas hydrate zone and the upper water–saturated zone whose properties represent the virgin status. Compared with those of the upper water–saturated layer, increasing resistivity, higher–than–baseline shear modulus, less–than–density–porosity NMR porosity, shortening T2 peak time, reducing amplitude and covered area of T2 distributions and decreasing water–filling pore size denote the association of hydrate. Abstract Background Diet has long been hypothesized to play an important role in hyperuricemia, and weight gain is a factor that is strongly associated with the rise in serum urate. We aimed to clarify the mediating role of obesity in the relationship between diet and hyperuricemia and to determine whether a weight-loss diet is an effective way to prevent hyperuricemia. Methods This cross-sectional study analysed representative samples of United States (n = 20,081; NHANES 2007–2016) adults. Nutrient patterns were derived with two methods: principal component analysis (PCA) and reduced rank regression (RRR) with obesity. Logistic regression and multivariable linear regression were applied to analyse the association between nutrient patterns in obesity and hyperuricemia. Mediation analyses were used to determine whether four obesity indicators, including body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), visceral adiposity index (VAI) and lipid accumulation product index (LAP), mediated the relationship between nutrient patterns and hyperuricemia. Results PCA revealed three nutrient patterns (including “Low energy diet”, “Lower vitamin A, C, K pattern” and “Vitamin B group”), and only Vitamin B group had a total effect on hyperuricemia. RRR revealed one main nutrient pattern associated with obesity, which was characterized by High fat and low vitamin levels and was significantly associated with hyperuricemia. Mediation analysis showed that obesity mostly or even completely mediated the relationship between nutrient patterns and hyperuricemia, especially traditional obesity indicators, which played a key intermediary effect. The proportions of indirect effects for BMI and WC were as high as 53.34 and 59.69, respectively. Conclusions Our findings suggest that the direct effect of diet on hyperuricemia is weak, and obesity plays a critical mediating role in the relationship between diet and hyperuricemia, which confirms that a weight-loss diet such as a “Low fat and high vitamin diet” may be useful in preventing hyperuricemia.

Abstract The mobile health (mHealth) industry is an enormous global market; however, the dropout or continuance of mHealth is a major challenge that is affecting its positive outcomes. To date, the results of studies on the impact factors have been inconsistent. Consequently, research on the pooled effects of impact factors on the continuance intention of mHealth is limited. Therefore, this study aims to systematically analyze quantitative studies on the continuance intention of mHealth and explore the pooled effect of each direct and indirect impact factor. Until October 2021, eight literature databases were searched. Fifty-eight peer-reviewed studies on the impact factors and effects on continuance intention of mHealth were included. Out of the 19 direct impact factors of continuance intention, 15 are significant, with attitude (β = 0.450; 95% CI: 0.135, 0.683), satisfaction (β = 0.406; 95% CI: 0.292, 0.509), health empowerment (β = 0.359; 95% CI: 0.204, 0.497), perceived usefulness (β = 0.343; 95% CI: 0.280, 0.403), and perceived quality of health life (β = 0.315, 95% CI: 0.211, 0.412) having the largest pooled effect coefficients on continuance intention. There is high heterogeneity between the studies; thus, we conducted a subgroup analysis to explore the moderating effect of different characteristics on the impact effects. The geographic region, user type, mHealth type, user age, and publication year significantly moderate influential relationships, such as trust and continuance intention. Thus, mHealth developers should develop personalized continuous use promotion strategies based on user characteristics.

Abstract Sparse recovery algorithms have been applied to the Space‐time adaptive processing for reducing the requirement of samples over the past 15 years. However, many Sparse recovery algorithms are not robust and need accurate user parameters. Conventional sparse Bayesian learning (SBL) algorithms are insensitivity to user parameters but converge slowly. To remedy the limitation, two iterative reweighted algorithms are proposed based on SBL. In order to minimise the SBL penalty function, we construct its upper‐bounding surrogate function via the concave conjugate function and apply iterative reweighted algorithms to minimise the surrogate function. Theoretical analysis and numerical experiments all exhibit great performance of the proposed algorithms.

Abstract Background Postoperative major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) account for more than one-third of perioperative deaths. Geriatric patients are more vulnerable to postoperative MACEs than younger patients. Identifying high-risk patients in advance can help with clinical decision making and improve prognosis. This study aimed to develop a machine learning model for the preoperative prediction of postoperative MACEs in geriatric patients. Methods We collected patients’ clinical data and laboratory tests prospectively. All patients over 65 years who underwent surgeries in West China Hospital of Sichuan University from June 25, 2019 to June 29, 2020 were included. Models based on extreme gradient boosting (XGB), gradient boosting machine, random forest, support vector machine, and Elastic Net logistic regression were trained. The models’ performance was compared according to area under the precision-recall curve (AUPRC), area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) and Brier score. To minimize the influence of clinical intervention, we trained the model based on undersampling set. Variables with little contribution were excluded to simplify the model for ensuring the ease of use in clinical settings. Results We enrolled 5705 geriatric patients into the final dataset. Of those patients, 171 (3.0%) developed postoperative MACEs within 30 days after surgery. The XGB model outperformed other machine learning models with AUPRC of 0.404(95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.219–0.589), AUROC of 0.870(95%CI: 0.786–0.938) and Brier score of 0.024(95% CI: 0.016–0.032).
