166. Improved Dual Boost Mid-Point Clamped Five-Level Inverter Topology

Abstract

This brief proposes a single-stage dynamic voltage boosting five-level active neutral point clamped (ANPC) inverter topology with continuous input current. The proposed topology can overcome the conventional ANPC five-level inverter drawbacks, such as the requirement of high dc-link voltage and 50% utilization of dc-link capacitors. The proposed topology and its various modes of operation are detailed by highlighting the inductors’ charging and discharging periods. Further, the design calculations for sizing the passive components and grid-tied control schemes are discussed. A detailed comparison is presented to show the superiority of the proposed topology compared to other recent topologies. Experimental results from a 1.6 kVA laboratory prototype and simulation results using the MATLAB/Simulink environment are presented to confirm the feasibility of the proposed topology.

167. Automated risk identification using NLP in cloud based development environments

Abstract

In typical software development practice, the risk assessment is not being done in an integrated manner along with the SDLC life cycle. Mostly, risk assessment is a reactive process carried out either during the deployment process or during the evaluation of software for business. Humans are involved in the risk assessment process which is time consuming, error prone and expensive. The risks identified is also not immediately reflected upon the various people in the software development value chain. This causes the churning rate to find or alleviate risks in the future. In typical SDLC, risks may be developed while coding and it may be evident and would takes different shape as different version of the software gets updated over a period of time. Security aspects of the software solution depends on the code which needs to be consistently tracked on a continuous basis to monitor changes and its related risks, without which vulnerabilities and weakness identification will be reactive. It is always essential to identify risks based on the experience from others that is where the use of risk assessment frameworks would be handy along with vulnerability and weakness database such as common weakness enumeration, common vulnerability enumeration and Exploit DB. In this paper, NLP is implemented using deep learning techniques. This paper addresses the need for automated risk assessments with the help of NLP to auto identify the risks on the analysis of weakness and vulnerabilities.

168. Adaptive Air Quality Sensing using Machine Learning

Abstract

Air pollution is a worldwide problem having impacts on both local and global scales. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), air pollution causes 7 million deaths every year, with 4.2 million attributed to exposure to outdoor air pollution. Compared to the reference methods defined in the Air Quality Directive, the use of low-cost air quality sensors for monitoring ambient air pollution would reduce air pollution monitoring costs and would also allow larger spatial coverage especially in remote areas where monitoring with traditional facilities is uneasy. Theses multi-sensors were either calibrated against standard gas mixtures or using artificial neural network under field conditions. The later method resulted in mixed results either satisfactory for short periods or generally weak for longer data series. This project mainly focuses on the adaptive calibration of the low-cost sensors using the trained machine learning model. The performances of several field calibration methods for low-cost sensors, including linear/multi linear regression and supervised learning techniques will be compared. A cluster of ozone, nitrogen dioxide, nitrogen monoxide, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide sensors will be operated. Subsequently, the accuracy of the predicted values will be evaluated for about a period. These predicted values are fed through the training model and the model will run accordingly and it will adapt all the error situations. This will be useful to the automobile industry in the current situation for smoke emission control and also for many refinery industries in which low-cost sensors can be used with the following modelling for the higher accuracy. Abstract

The delivery of electricity employing an electromagnetic field that extends across an intervening region is called a wireless power transfer (WPT). This approach paves the way for electric vehicles (EVs) to use newly available options to reduce their environmental impact. This article is a review that examines the WPT technology for use in electric vehicle applications from both the technical aspect and the environmental impact. This review will attempt to accomplish the following objectives: (1) describe the present state of the technology behind the development and application of a WPT across the transportation industry; (2) substantiate the actual implementation of WPT EV systems; and (3) estimate the functioning of the autonomous system, as well as detect the potential stumbling blocks and openings for enhancement. The most recent advancements and implementation in compensating topologies, power electronics converters, and control techniques are dissected and debated scientifically to improve the system’s performance. To evaluate the performance from a sustainable perspective, energy, environmental, and economic factors are utilized, and at the same time, policy drivers and health and safety problems are researched.
