Bu çalışma romantik ilişkilerde cinsel sadakatsizlik şüphesinin birtakım faktörlerden ne şekilde etkilendiğini evrimsel bir yaklaşımla ele almaktadır. Mevcut partnerin yakın gelecekte cinsel sadakatsizlikte bulunma ihtimaline ilişkin değerlendirmeler Hata Yönetimi Kuramı ve Sosyal Karşılaştırma Kuramı çerçevesinde tartışılmaktadır. Hata yönetimi kuramı ?cinsel sadakatsizliğe uğrama olasılığının gerçekte olduğundan abartılı algılanması? yanlılığının cinsiyete göre farklılaştığını öne sürmektedir. Buradan hareketle bu çalışmanın birinci temel faktörü cinsiyet olarak belirlenmiştir. Çalışmada incelenen ikinci temel faktör ise sosyal karşılaştırma yönelimidir. Sosyal karşılaştırma kuramına göre kişilerin kendilerini diğerleriyle kıyaslamasını ifade eden bu yönelimin düzeyi kişilere göre farklılaşmaktadır. Kişilerin sosyal karşılaştırma yöneliminin yüksek ya da düşük düzeyde olması cinsiyet içi rekabete ilişkin duyarlılıklarını, dolayısıyla da cinsel sadakatsizlik şüphesini etkileyecektir. Bu doğrultuda gerçekleştirilen iki deneyden birincisinde rakibin çekiciliği, ikincisinde ise cinsel sadakatsizlik ipuçları ayrı ayrı değişimlenerek sözü edilen faktörlerle birlikte cinsel sadakatsizlik şüphesi üzerindeki etkilerine bakılmıştır.Birinci deneyde katılımcılar yüksek ya da düşük çekicilikte bir rakip söz konusu olduğunda mevcut partnerin cinsel sadakatsizlik ihtimalini değerlendirmişlerdir. Yalnızca sosyal karşılaştırma yönelimi yüksek olan katılımcılarda, rakibin düşük düzeyde çekici olduğu koşula kıyasla yüksek çekicilikteki rakibe ilişkin daha fazla cinsel sadakatsizlik ihtimali görülmüştür.İkinci deneyde ise mevcut partner tarafından cinsel sadakatsizliğe uğrama ihtimaline ilişkin değerlendirmelerde cinsel sadakatsizlik ipuçlarının varlığının ya da yokluğunun etkisi incelenmiştir. Hiçbir ipucunun bulunmadığı koşulda yer alan katılımcıların cinsel sadakatsizlik ihtimali değerlendirmeleri, ipuçlarının sunulduğu koşulda yer alan katılımcılarınkine göre daha düşüktür. Ayrıca söz konusu farklılaşma erkeklerde istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı iken, kadınlarda değildir. Bunun yanı sıra sosyal karşılaştırma yönelimi yüksek katılımcıların düşük olanlardan daha fazla cinsel sadakatsizliğe uğrama ihtimali belirttikleri bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır. This study deals with in romantic relations how the suspicion of sexual infidelity was affected by certain factors from an evolutionary approach. Evaluations regarding to the likelihood of current partner?s sexual infidelity in the near future are discussed from the perspectives of Error Management Theory and Social Comparison Theory. Error management theory argues that bias toward ?overestimating the likelihood of the partner?s infidelity? differs among sexes. From this point, sex has been taken as the first main variable in this study. The second main factor examined here is social comparison orientation. According to social comparison theory, this orientation which expresses the level of comparison of oneself with others differs among individuals. Individuals? high or low levels of social comparison orientations are expected to affect their susceptibility to intrasexual competition and their suspicion of sexual infidelity. Two experimental studies were performed in this direction. In the first experiment rival attractiveness; the second study cues of sexual infidelity are manipulated and in both studies those manipulated variables? and main factors? effects on suspicion of sexual infidelity are examined.In the first study, participants evaluated current partner?s likelihood of sexual infidelity in case of an existence of a rival with high or low attractiveness level. Results indicated that there is an increase in the evaluations of the suspicion of sexual infidelity when the presented rival is high than low in attractiveness. However, this effect appeared for only the individuals whose social comparison orientations are high.The second experiment examined the effects of existence or nonexistence of sexual infidelity cues on the evaluations of the likelihood of current partner?s sexual infidelity. Based on the results, participants? evaluations of the likelihood of sexual infidelity were lower when there was no sexual infidelity cue than when there were cues of sexual infidelity. This effect was statistically significant only among males but not among females. Besides, participant with higher compared to lower social comparison orientations expressed higher likelihood of sexual infidelity. 100

The purpose of this study is to reveal history teachers? attidutes, teaching of the lesson, the content of the book as well as teachers? opinion about nonformal education with regard to II. and III. units of 9th grade history textbook (History I), which consists Ancient History and Ancient Turkish History, and to suggest solutions by determining teachers? suggestions about their challenges.With a view to accomplish the purpose of the study, a field reseach was conducted with 202 history teachers from 46 high school in Ankara province. The result of the reseach revealed a significant variation in four tables related to II. and III. units of the History I. Textbook.Although the teachers who participated in our study found II. and III. units of the History 9 textbook systematic, they considered that the visual materials were insufficient and teaching of such subjects would be more qualified with the assistance of nonformal events. They stated the need to prepare cds and dvds consisting assorted visual representations as an attachment to textbooks, as well as facilitating the procedure for events, museum visits in particular. Some of the teachers pointed out that they have weak backgrounds on the field; and suggested adressing it by in-service trainings with current information about the field. 268

The variation in the composition of fresh tea leaves with season and shoot maturity, and to the applicability of cold storage (4C and 90% relative humidity [RH]) for the purpose of withering of tea leaves were studied. The results showed that the levels of polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activity and the polyphenolic content changed significantly with plucking season and shoot maturity. No significant difference was observed between the total polyphenolic content of the cold storage-withered and traditionally withered samples, whereas the loss of PPO activity was less in the cold-stored leaves. No significant difference was observed between the cold storage-withered and traditionally withered samples in terms of the end product quality. Results showed that cold storage at 4C and at 90% RH was suitable for storing fresh leaves after plucking until the time of processing and it is possible to achieve withering during the cold storage of tea leaves.

The levels aflatoxins in Turkish hazelnuts have been monitored over a 3-years period (2002-2004). Periodical sampling was made in 72 different orchards at different locations representative of the hazelnut-growing areas and post-harvest applications. Various parameters (aflatoxins, water activity, moulds) were analysed and environmental conditions (temperature and relative humidity) recorded during growing and at different stages of harvest and post-harvest processing, involving three different harvesting methods (collection in nets, from the ground, etc.) and four drying techniques (traditional sun-drying, mechanical drying, etc.). Fungal and aflatoxin analyses (HPLC) showed no significant difference except between samples which had been in contact with the ground and those which had not (at 95% confidence level). Aflatoxins levels from the orchard recorded a maximum of 0.77 +/- 0.08 ng g(-1) from a total of 1624 samples. Regarding harvesting and post-harvest processes, the only application where aflatoxins were detected was in samples which had been in direct contact with the ground (max. 3.18 +/- 0.03 ng g(-1)). Aflatoxin formation was low during storage (max. 0.34 +/- 0.003 ng g(-1)). As a result of mycological studies, a total of 5546 Aspergillus flavus (89%) and A. parasiticus (11%) species were isolated and identified from samples. The results indicated that harvesting hazelnuts into a canvas by shaking the trees, manual harvesting of mature hazelnuts where possible, use of jute instead of nylon sacks and mechanical drying technique would minimize aflatoxin levels in hazelnuts. These recommendations have been implemented and about 4000 people in the hazelnut industry have been trained in these practices.

Geç biçim, fosfor noksanlığı, insan zararı, az ve aşın sulama, tırpanla biçim ve biçim makinelerinin endirekt zararları çimlerde kurumalardan sorumlu abiotik etkenler olarak belirlenirken, Fusarium culmorum,IV Fusarium equiseti, Fusarium oxysporum, Fmarium solanı, Rhizoctonia solanı, Pythium sp., Dreschlera sp. gibi fungal organizmaların neden olduğu kurumalar ise biotik kaynaklı olarak saptanmıştır. Hem abiotik hem de biotik nedenlerden dolayı 33 farklı çim lokasyonun da kuruma gözlenirken kuruyan alanların toplam çim alanlarına oranı 2003 yılında % 0,62, 2004 yılında %0.77 olarak bulunmuştur. Genel kuruma oranı ise %0.69 olarak tespit edilmiştir. Biotik kaynaklı kurumaların nedenlerini saptamak için çimlerden yapılan izolasyonlar sonucu 17 farklı genusa ait 12 tür tespit edilmiştir. Tespit edilenlerden 7'si ile yapılan patojenisite testleri sonucu yedisininde çim bitkilerinde patojen oldukları bulunmuştur. Dr. Nuh BOYRAZ This search is carried out in order to find out the causes and ratio of drying on turfgrass in Konya. In hte process of the research, surveys on the green areas were held between the years 2003 and 2004. As a consequence of these surveys, it is determined that the factors causing drying of the turfgrass on the green areas in Konya are originated from abiotic and biotic reasons. Where as delayed reaping deficiency of phosphorus, human causing harm, insufficient or excessive irragation, using scythe to cut the grass and the indirect harms of cutting machines have been accepted as the biotic factors resulting in drying on turfgrass, Fusarium culmorum,VI Fusarium equiseti, Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium solani, Rhizoctonia solani, Pythium sp. and Dreschlera sp. have been considered as biotic based reasons. It is observed that there is drying on 33 different turf grass locasion due to both abiotic and biotic reasons. Mean while, the ratio of the dried areas to the total turfgrass areas was recorded as 0.62 % in 2003 and as 0.77 % in 2004. The general drying ratio was found as % 0.69. As a result of isolation made to determine the biotic results of drying, 6 species belonging to 17 different genus have been identified. As a consequence of pathogenicity tests on seven of these fungi, it was found mat all these seven species are pathogen. According to these pathological tests, the severity of diseases on turfgrass are measured as as 99.4 %, 99.22 %, 98.95 %, 94.77 %, 93.02 %, 67.40 % ve 62.90 %. ÖZET Bu çalışmada, İstanbul'un değişik semt pazarlarından toplanan roka, yeşil soğan, kıvırcık ve mor lahanalarda E. coli 0157:H7'nin varlığı ve izole edilen suşların verotoksijenik olup olmadığının polimeraz zincir reaksiyonu (PZR) ile araştırılması amaçlandı. Bu amaçla, adı geçen sebze örneklerinin her birinden 50 tane olmak üzere toplam 200 sebze örneği alındı. Örnekler ön zenginleştirme, immunomanyetik separasyon (IMS) ve selektif besiyerlerine ekilerek izolasyon çalışmaları yapıldı. Selektif besiyeri olarak sefiksim-tellürit sorbitol MacConkey agar (CT-SMAC) ve E. coli 0157:H7 İD besiyeri kullanıldı. İdentifikasyon amacıyla, bu besiyerlerinde üreyen koloniler MUG testi, indol reaksiyonu, hareket ve 0157 ve H7 antiserumlarıyla reaksiyon açısından incelendi. İzole ve identifiye edilen seropozitif suşların Verotoksin-1(VT1) ve Verotoksin-2 (VT2) genlerini taşıyıp taşımadığı polimeraz zincir reaksiyonu (PZR) ile araştırıldı. Çalışmada, kıvırcık, yeşil soğan ve roka örneklerinden CT-SMAC ağara yapılan ekimlerde toplam 23 tane renksiz koloni oluşturan bakteri ürediği saptandı. Buna karşın mor lahanalardan alınan örneklerde renksiz koloni oluşturan bakteri üremedi. 23 renksiz koloniden sadece 4 tanesinin izolasyon ve identifikasyon kriterlerine uyduğu, serolojik olarak 0157 ve H7 antiserumu ile reaksiyon verdiği ve kıvırcık örneklerine ait olduğu belirlendi. 4 izolattan birinin VT1 ve VT2 genlerinin her ikisini birden, birinin de sadece VT2 geni taşıdığı saptandı. Sonuç olarak, ülkemizde yeme alışkanlığına bağlı olarak sık tüketilen kıvırcıklarda verotoksijenik E. coli 0157:H7'nin varlığı, etkenin insanlarda oluşturduğu ciddi sağlık sorunlarından dolayı önemlidir. Bu konuya gereken dikkatin çekilmesi sujlar arasındaki genetik farklılıkların araştırılması, sığır- sebze arasındaki ilşkinin en aza indirgenerek gıda işletmeleri, mezbahalar ve restorantlarda HACCP sisteminin kurulmasında yarar vardır. 52 9. SUMMARY The aim of this study was to determine the presence of E. coli 0157:H7 in roka, green onion, lettuce and Turkish purple cabbage collected from the different district of Istanbul. It was also aimed to to investigate the presence of verotoksigenic strains among the isolates by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). In this study, 200 samples consisting 50 samples of each vegetables were taken. The samples were analysed using preenrichment broth, immunomagnetic separation and selective media for isolation studies. Teh cefixime-tellurit sorbitol MacConkey (CT-SMAC) agar and E. coli 0157:H7 ID agar were used as selective media. For identification, the colonies grown on these media were analysed using MUG test, indol reaction, motility and reaction with 0157 and H7 antisera. Seropositive strains isolated from the salad items were also analysed fro the presence of verotoxin-1 (VT1) and verotoxin-2 (VT2) genes by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). In this study, 23 colourless colonies were detected on the CT-SMAC agar in samples taken from lettuce, green onion and roka. No growth was detected on CT-SMAC agar from the samples of Turkish purple cabbage. Amongst 23 coluorless colonies, only 4 isolates from the lettuce samples were found to be E. coli 0157.H7 according to isolation and identification criteria and reacted with 0157 and H7 antisera. One strain was found to be positive for both VT1 and VT2 gene and one strain for VT2 gene when tested for the presence of VT1 and VT2 genes by PCR. In conclusion, the presence of verotoxigenic E. coli 0157:H7 in lettuce in Turkey is important since it causes serious health problems in people and it is frequenly consumed in Turkey. It should be emphasise that the genomic differences amongst the strains must be investigated and the contact between the cattle and vegetables sould be minimized and also the HACCP must be established in the farms, food producing factories, abattoirs, and restaurants. 53 68

EDI - Elektronik Veri Akşverişi (Özet) EDI (Electronic Data Interchange); Elektronik Veri Alışverişi olarak adlandırılan kavram kısaca; ticarette yaygın olarak kullanılan belgelerin bir bilgisayar sisteminden diğer bir bilgisayar sistemine, standart bir formatta aktarılması biçiminde tanımlanabilir. Ticari ilişkide bulunan organizasyonlar, satınalma siparişi ve fatura gibi belgeleri standart bir formata çevirerek elektronik ortamdan birbirlerine gönderebilirler. İletişim teknolojisi geliştikçe ve ticaretin sınırlan genişledikçe ticari belgeler için standartların tanımlanması bir zorunluluk haline gelmiştir. Bu standartlar ticari dokümanların içeriğini ve formatını belirlerler. Bugün, EDI mesaj ları bu amaç için oluşturulan komiteler tarafından yayınlanan standartlara dayanarak hazırlanmaktadır. EDI - Electronic Data Interchange (Summary) EDI : Electronic Data Interchange is the computer-to-computer exchange of structured business data in a standard format between organizations. EDI transactions represent paperless business information exchanges that are independent of either partner's unique business processes, computer software, or hardware. This approach provides flexibility and does not impose the requirement of common hardware, software, business processes, or terminology upon diverse participants, only common data usage and transmission formats. The aim of this thesis is to give a detailed definition of EDI process, the syntax and usage of EDIFACT Standard, and design an application software to perform two-sided EDI transactions for a company. Implementing EDI should not be a goal in itself, but part of a larger effort to improve business practices. Even if EDI is used to simply replace paper while leaving the existing processes in place, it will bring great advantages of faster processing of actions; by reducing data entry, availability of timely and accurate data for decision makers, lower personnel requirements and a responsive environment that supports innovations, such as direct vendor delivery, flexible manufacturing, rapid distribution, and central pay. The software designed and implemented in this thesis, is named as EDIFACT Composer. Its main functions are; mapping the in-house data with EDIFACT Standard, for the sending process; translating the data into an EDIFACT fomatted file by using the EDIFACT syntax rules, and for the receiving process receiving the EDIFACT formatted file and translating it into in-house system according to the mapping information. Cryptography, dial-up communication and communication via Internet e- mail are also included as modules in the program. Besides its functionality of performing EDI transactions, it is a technical guide for understanding the EDIFACT format. It is fully parametric and designed in a table-driven manner. Trade is international and a degree of standardisation in trade documents and procedures has been around for centuries. The paper documents like purchase orders, invoices, cheques and manifests etc. are to a degree standardised as to their content. But any computer system requires the precise definition of all aspects of a system, including any information being processed. Therefore, in order to trade electronically, rather than use paper-based documents, standards for information structures and document exchange and control mechanisms are needed. EDI standardisation of trading documents is becoming a necessity as the borders of commerce widens and communication becomes easier.
