From the methanol extract of Pimelea prostrata, prostratin ( I) and 2 autoxidation products have been isolated. They are tigliane derivatives and relatively nonirritant on the mouse ear. The irritant pimelea factor P ( IIa) also with a tigliane skeleton and related to mancinellin ( IIb), as wellas the irritant diterpene ester pimelea factor P ( IIa, simplexin) with daphnane skeleton, were found to be present in both P. prostrata and P. simplex. Further the irritant homologue of simplexin, pimela factor IIIb was detected in P. prostrata. Some biogenetic consequences of these findings are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Shark liver oils are rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, especially the n3 moieties. Data on the liver fatty acids of sharks from African waters, however, are limited. Liver samples from sharks from the western Indian Ocean off the east coast of South Africa and those from the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico were examined. This study reports on the fatty acids found in the total lipid fractions from the livers of two shark species found in these regions, the spinner Carcharhinus brevipinna and blacktip Carcharhinus limbatus. Greater amounts of total lipids were found in sharks from the Indian Ocean than in those from the Atlantic Ocean (spinner 0.431 g g-1 vs 0.324 g g-1, p = 0.004; blacktip 0.426 g g-1 vs 0.261 g g-1, p = 0.004). The individual fatty acids in the same animals showed reduced amounts of saturates (spinner 26.22% vs 30.68%, p = 0.013; blacktip 28.94% vs 35.14%, p = 0.007) and slightly increased n3 polyunsaturates (spinner 33.67% vs 22.89%, p = 0.001; blacktip 24.77% vs 18.68%, p = 0.025). Background: Synovial sarcoma (SS) is one of the reported sarcomas in the pediatric and adult populations. Delay in diagnosis and treatment is common in SS cases. SS may be excised before the correct diagnosis is made.Case Presentation: we present a case involving a 4-year-old boy who visited our service with complaints of left knee pain and limited knee flexion. Initially, the child was diagnosed with osteochondromatosis. Surgical excision was opted, and initial histopathological examination revealed a fibrous histiocytoma. The slide and blocks were then brought to the King Faisal Specialist Hospital Research Center (KFSH&RC) and histopathologic analysis has shown a well-circumscribed nodule in the synovium with a sub-synovial monomorphic spindle cell sarcoma, confirmed by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH).Conclusions: Therefore, we strongly recommend considering all differential diagnoses for soft-tissue masses when planning surgical management. Background: peptic ulcer disease (PUD) is a common disease of the digestive system. Peptic ulcer disease is a problem of the gastrointestinal tract characterized by mucosal damage secondary to pepsin and gastric acid secretion. It usually occurs in the stomach and proximal duodenum; less commonly, it occurs in the lower esophagus, the distal duodenum, or the jejunum. IT is a multifactorial health problem affecting almost all populations worldwide. The number of people who are = 60 years old increased worldwide. The elderly population is susceptible to various benign and malignant diseases. Peptic ulcer is among the common health problems that affect the elderly. Aim of the study: this study aimed to determine the prevalence and risk factors of PUD in elderly population of Arar city, Northern Saudi Arabia. Subjects and methods: this was a cross sectional study and conducted in five randomly selected primary healthcare centers in Arar city (KSA), from September 2017 to March 2018. It included 217 elderly patients. A questionnaire was designed for data collection about sociodemographic variables, smoking, BMI, chronic diseases and physician diagnosed peptic ulcer among participants. Results: our findings showed that out of 217 of the studied elders, 55.3% were females and 21.2% were suffered from peptic ulcer. There were significant relations between peptic ulcer with gender, marital status, educational level and smoking status, while there was an insignificant relation between peptic ulcer with age group and BMI group. On the other hand, there were significant relations between peptic ulcer and musculoskeletal disorders, kidney diseases and insomnia. While, there was insignificant relations between peptic ulcer and cardiovascular diseases, ischemic heart diseases, hypertension, neurological disorders, diabetes mellitus and psychological disorders. Conclusion: among the elderly participants 21.2% were suffered from peptic ulcer. There was a significant relation between peptic ulcer with gender, smoking status, musculoskeletal disorders, kidney diseases and insomnia. The genotypes evaluated in this study was a part of the National Screening Program for Fusarium Wilt Resistance. This program is conducted annually in the greenhouses of Cotton and Fiber Crops Diseases Research Dept., PPRI. The present study included 50 of Upper Egypt experimental genotypes and 875 families of six commercial cultivars. The experimental genotypes were supplied by Cotton Breeding Dept., and the six commercial cultivars were provided by Cotton Maintenance Dept., Cotton Research Institute. Healthy survival rate of seedlings of the genotypes was used as a criterion to evaluate the reactions when the genotypes were grown in autoclaved highly infested soil with a mixture of race 3 of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. vasinfedum isolates. The majority of the tested genotypes (48%) were very highly resistant while 22% were very highly susceptible. All the families of the commercial cultivars Giza 90, Giza 95, Giza 86, Giza 87, and Giza 88 were very highly resistant while only 99.30% of Giza 92 families showed this level of resistance, which deserves more attention in monitoring its families in the future to Avoid any varietal deterioration.
