The field experiment was carried out at Department of Seed Science and Technology, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore to know the influence of polymer seed coatings on growth and productivity of soybean seed under various moisture stress conditions viz., stress at 50 % flowering stage, stress at pod formation stage and stress at both 50% flowering and pod formation stages along with normal irrigation. The experiment consisted of six seed treatments (untreated control, Genius coat 171, Genius coat 172, Arcus, Myconate and Quick roots) with three replications and was laid out in split plot design. Seeds coated with Quick roots were found to be significantly superior in growth and yield parameters viz., field emergence, plant height, took less days for first and 50 per cent flowering, less disease incidence, higher number of pods plant-1 and seed yield both under normal and moisture stress conditions. Weaver ants are very aggressive and will prey on many of the arthropods entering their territory. A study was conducted to assess the population dynamics of Oecophylla smaragdina Fabricius on mango and sapota trees in the orchard of Faculty of Agriculture, Annamalai University, Annamalainagar, Tamil Nadu, india. From the study, it was evident that in highest number of green nests (13.10/tree) and dry nests (6.00) were found in mango during February and March. The number was minimum in December, May and June. Leaf pavilion was 0.10 in June and 0.00 in all other months. Total number of nests were more during February (17.70) and less in December (0.60). In sapota, highest number of green and dry nests were found in September and March as 19.75 and 17.75 respectively. Lowest number of green nest and dry nest were present in April and October as 1.00 and 0.50 respectively. Leaf pavilion was 0.00 in all the months. Weaver ants are effective biocontrol agents and will prey on many of the arthropods entering their territory. A study was conducted to assess the population dynamics of Oecophylla smaragdina nests from the trees with ant nests in Prunus dulcis and Morinda citrifolia in Faculty of Agriculture, Annamalai University, Annamalainagar, Tamil Nadu at fortnightly intervals. In Prunus dulcis highest number of green nest, dry nest, leaf pavilion were found in April, May and March respectively. Total number of nests were more during April, March and May. In Morinda citrifolia highest number of green nest and dry nest were found in July and October respectively. Leaf pavilion was highest in January. The present study on interaction of a polymer-copper(II) complex, [Cu(dpqC)(BPEI)](ClO)·HO (dpqC = dipyrido[3,2-a:2′,3′-c](6,7,8,9-tetrahydro) phenazine) with CT-DNA/yeast tRNA were performed by using various spectroscopic methods. The data from these experiments suggest that the polymer-copper(II) complex binds to CT-DNA/yeast tRNA through intercalation. Furthermore, our polymer copper(II) complex showed strong binding ability with yeast tRNA than CT-DNA. It indicates that structural differences of the nucleic acids play a significant role in the binding affinity. The antiproliferative and cell death properties of this complex have been tested against MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cell line by various specific staining methods. These obtained results indicate that our complex is more cytotoxic to MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cell line. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
