Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin disease mainly affecting the middle of the face with a variety of systemic comorbidities. This article reviews comorbidities of rosacea, including cardiovascular diseases, metabolic diseases, digestive diseases, malignancies, and neuropsychiatric diseases, and provides suggestions on how to deal with comorbidities of rosacea. If rosacea patients have symptoms or signs of other diseases, or abnormal results of laboratory examinations or imaging examinations, they should be referred to the corresponding department for further treatment. It is necessary to further investigate the relationship between rosacea and its comorbidities, especially the relationship between different subtypes of rosacea and their comorbidities, to facilitate the treatment and management of rosacea patients.

Abstract Background The boreal forest is one of the largest biomes on earth, supporting thousands of species. The global climate fluctuations in the Quaternary, especially the ice ages, had a significant influence on the distribution of boreal forest, as well as the divergence and evolution of species inhabiting this biome. To understand the possible effects of on-going and future climate change it would be useful to reconstruct past population size changes and relate such to climatic events in the past. We sequenced the genomes of 32 individuals from two forest inhabiting bird species, Hazel Grouse (Tetrastes bonasia) and Chinese Grouse (T. sewerzowi) and three representatives of two outgroup species from Europe and China. Results We estimated the divergence time of Chinese Grouse and Hazel Grouse to 1.76 (0.46–3.37) MYA. The demographic history of different populations in these two sibling species was reconstructed, and showed that peaks and bottlenecks of effective population size occurred at different times for the two species. The northern Qilian population of Chinese Grouse became separated from the rest of the species residing in the south approximately 250,000 years ago and have since then showed consistently lower effective population size than the southern population. The Chinese Hazel Grouse population had a higher effective population size at the peak of the Last Glacial Period (approx. 300,000 years ago) than the European population. Both species have decreased recently and now have low effective population sizes. Conclusions Combined with the uplift history and reconstructed climate change during the Quaternary, our results support that cold-adapted grouse species diverged in response to changes in the distribution of palaeo-boreal forest and the formation of the Loess Plateau. The combined effects of climate change and an increased human pressure impose major threats to the survival and conservation of both species.

Abstract Activation of nuclear-factor-E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) signaling can protect human osteoblasts from dexamethasone-induced oxidative injury. DDB1 and CUL4 associated factor 1 (DCAF1) is a novel ubiquitin E3 ligase for Nrf2 protein degradation. We identified a novel DCAF1-targeting miRNA, miR-3175. RNA pull-down, Argonaute 2 RNA-immunoprecipitation, and RNA fluorescent in situ hybridization results confirmed a direct binding between miR-3175 and DCAF1 mRNA in primary human osteoblasts. DCAF1 3′-untranslated region luciferase activity and its expression were significantly decreased after miR-3175 overexpression but were augmented with miR-3175 inhibition in human osteoblasts and hFOB1.19 osteoblastic cells. miR-3175 overexpression activated Nrf2 signaling, causing Nrf2 protein stabilization, antioxidant response (ARE) activity increase, and transcription activation of Nrf2-dependent genes in human osteoblasts and hFOB1.19 cells. Furthermore, dexamethasone-induced oxidative injury and apoptosis were largely attenuated by miR-3175 overexpression in human osteoblasts and hFOB1.19 cells. Importantly, shRNA-induced silencing or CRISPR/Cas9-mediated Nrf2 knockout abolished miR-3175 overexpression-induced osteoblast cytoprotection against dexamethasone. Conversely, DFAC1 knockout, by the CRISPR/Cas9 method, activated the Nrf2 cascade and inhibited dexamethasone-induced cytotoxicity in hFOB1.19 cells. Importantly, miR-3175 expression was decreased in necrotic femoral head tissues of dexamethasone-taking patients, where DCAF1 mRNA was upregulated. Together, silencing DCAF1 by miR-3175 activated Nrf2 signaling to inhibit dexamethasone-induced oxidative injury and apoptosis in human osteoblasts.

Abstract Background This study aims to investigate the risk factors of vertebral re-fracture after percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) for osteoporosis vertebral compression fracture (OVCF), and to provide reference for clinical prevention. Material and methods A retrospective analysis was performed on 228 OVCF patients admitted on November 6, 2013, solstice, December 14, 2018, which met the inclusion criteria. There were 35 males and 193 females, with a male-to-female ratio of 3:20, and an age of 61–89 years. All patients were treated with PKP surgery with complete clinical data, and the rate of re-fracture was calculated according to whether re-fracture occurred after surgery, divided into the re-fracture group (24 cases) and the non-refracture group (204 cases). May be associated with subsequent fracture factors (gender, age, number of surgical segment vertebral body, whether with degenerative scoliosis, whether to fight osteoporosis) into a single-factor research, then the single-factor analysis was statistically significant risk factors for multiple logistic regression analysis, further defined after PKP holds the vertebral body fracture independent risk factors. Survival analysis was performed using the time of vertebral re-fracture after PKP as the end time of follow-up, the occurrence of re-fracture after PKP as the endpoint event, and the presence or absence of degenerative lateral curvature as a variable factor. Results All 228 vertebroplasty patients were followed up for a period of 1.8 to 63.6 months. The mean follow-up time was (28.8 ± 15.6) months, and the re-fracture rate was 10.5%. Abstract Background The relationship between the HLA-B*1502 gene and maculopapular exanthema (MPE) induced by antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) has not yet been elucidated. In this study, we investigated the association between AED-induced MPE (AED-MPE) and the HLA-B*1502 gene in patients in Northwest China. Methods We enrolled 165 subjects including nine patients with AED-MPE and 156 AED-tolerant patients as controls. HLA-B*1502 gene polymorphism was detected using digital fluorescence molecular hybridization (DFMH). The results of HLA genotyping were expressed as positive or negative for the HLA-B*1502 allele. An analysis of AED-MPE risk factors was performed using binary logistic regression, and differences in genotype frequencies between groups were assessed with the continuity correction chi-square test. Results We found that the HLA-B*1502 gene was a risk factor for AED-MPE (P = 0.028). The incidence of MPE induced by the two types of AEDs was different, and the incidence of aromatic AEDs use was higher that of non-aromatic AEDs use (P = 0.025). The comparison of the gene frequencies of the HLA-B*1502 allele between the two groups taking aromatic AEDs was also statistically significant (P = 0.045). However, there were no significant differences in terms of age, gender, ethnicity, or region in patients with MPE induced by AEDs. In addition, no association between the HLA-B1502 allele and CBZ- or OXC-induced MPE was found. Conclusions In northwestern China, the HLA-B*1502 allele was associated with aromatic AED-MPE. Since MPE can develop into Stevens–Johnson syndrome (SJS) or toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), the HLA-B*1502 gene should be evaluated before administering AEDs.

Studies often use the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) or the Beck Depression Inventory–II (BDI-II) as a screening tool for depression in new mothers or fathers following the birth of an infant, but no studies have evaluated EPDS as a predictor of postnatal depression for new fathers in a Chinese population. This study aimed to test the validity and reliability of a Chinese version of the EPDS for fathers of newborns in Taiwan. The study included 368 parents with newborns ≤2 months of age and without any health problems. Construct and criterion-related validities were assessed and Cronbach’s alpha was used for measuring internal consistency reliability. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analyzed the optimal cutoff score for the EPDS. Scores for the Chinese EPDS were significantly higher for fathers who were >34 years of age, employed in a professional occupation, and participated in feeding their infant ( p < .05). Mean scores among the fathers for the EPDS and BDI-II were significantly correlated ( r = .64, p < .001). The Cronbach’s alpha was .83 for the EPDS; ROC curve analysis revealed the optimal cutoff of the EPDS was ≥8 points and the area under the ROC curve was 0.91. The EPDS had good validity and reliability and should therefore be considered suitable for the evaluation of postnatal depression in fathers of newborn infants in Taiwan.

In order to study the effects of the compound preservatives (curcumin and piperine (CP)) and vacuum packaging (VP) on the quality of salmon during cold chain logistics suffered from temperature abuse, the physiochemical indexes (texture, water holding capacity (WHC), total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N), thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), free amino acids (FAA) contents), microbial indicators (total mesophilic bacteria count (MBC), total psychrotrophic bacteria count (PBC), H2S-producing bacteria count (HSBC)) were determined, and the moisture changes were explored by near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy and low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (LF-NMR). The results showed that the treatment of curcumin and piperine in combination with vacuum packaging could maintain the quality of salmon suffered from temperature abuse most effectively. At the end of storage, the MBC of VP+CP was only 4.95 log CFU/g, which was about 1 log CFU/g lower than the control sample stored at the same condition. The combined treatment also retarded the increase of TVB-N, TBARS, and the decrease of hardness, springiness, and a* value, as well as water migration in salmon, contributing to higher water holding capacity and better appearance. Besides, VP+CP retarded the decrease of free glutamate, which contributed to umami taste. Due to the biological activity and safety of the preserves, the combined treatment could be a promising method for preservation of seafood.

Au nanoparticles were synthesized in a soft template of pseudo-polyanions composed of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) by the in situ reduction of chloroauric acid (HAuCl4) with PVP. The particle sizes and morphologies of the Au nanoparticles were regulated with concentrations of PVP or SDS at room temperature. Distinguished from the Au nanoparticles with various shapes, Au nanoflowers (AuNFs) with rich protrusion on the surface were obtained at the low final concentration of SDS and PVP. The typical AuNF synthesized in the PVP (50 g·L−1)–SDS (5 mmol·L−1)–HAuCl4 (0.25 mmol·L−1) solution exhibited a face-centered cubic structure dominated by a {111} crystal plane with an average equivalent particle size of 197 nm and an average protrusion height of 19 nm. Au nanoparticles with four different shapes, nanodendritic, nanoflower, 2D nanoflower, and nanoplate, were synthesized and used to modify the bare glassy carbon electrode (GCE) to obtain Au/GCEs, which were assigned as AuND/GCE, AuNF/GCE, 2D-AuNF/GCE, and AuNP/GCE, respectively. Electrochemical sensing platforms for nitrite detection were constructed by these Au/GCEs, which presented different detection sensitivity for nitrites. The results of cyclic voltammetry (CV) demonstrated that the AuNF/GCE exhibited the best detection sensitivity for nitrites, and the surface area of the AuNF/GCE was 1.838 times of the bare GCE, providing a linear c(NO2−) detection range of 0.01–5.00 µmol·L−1 with a limit of detection of 0.01 µmol·L−1. In addition, the AuNF/GCE exhibited good reproducibility, stability, and high anti-interference, providing potential for application in electrochemical sensing platforms.

Abstract Background Osteosarcoma was the most common primary bone malignancy in children and adolescents. It was imperative to identify effective prognostic biomarkers for this cancer. This study was aimed to identify potential crucial genes of osteosarcoma by integrated bioinformatics analysis. Methods Identification of differentially expressed genes from public data gene expression profiles (GSE42352), functional and pathway enrichment analysis, protein–protein interaction (PPI) network construction and module analysis, Cox regression and survival analysis was conducted. Results Totally 17 co-differential genes were found to be differentially expressed. These genes were enriched in biological processes, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) and Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) pathway of inflammatory immune response. PPI network was constructed with 63 differentially expressed genes that co-existed between the test set and the validation set. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC value) was 0.855, which indicated that the expression of PODN had a good diagnostic value for osteosarcoma. Furthermore, Cox regression and survival analysis revealed 5 genes were statistically significant. Conclusions PODN was regarded as a potential biomarker for the diagnosis and prognosis of osteosarcoma, ACTA2, COL6A1, FAP, OLFML2B and COL6A3, can be used as potential prognostic indicators for osteosarcoma.

Owing to the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, there has been increasing concern about how to promote the use of AI technologies in school settings to enhance students’ learning performance. Teachers’ intention to adopt AI tools in their classes plays a crucial role in this regard. Therefore, it is important to explore factors affecting teachers’ intention to incorporate AI technologies or applications into course designs in higher education. In this study, a structural equation modeling approach was employed to investigate teachers’ continuance intention to teach with AI. In the proposed model, 10 hypotheses regarding anxiety (AN), self-efficacy (SE), attitude towards AI (ATU), perceived ease of use (PEU) and perceived usefulness (PU) were tested, and this study explored how these factors worked together to influence teachers’ continuance intention. A total of 311 teachers in higher education participated in the study. Based on the SEM analytical results and the research model, the five endogenous constructs of PU, PEU, SN, and ATU explained 70.4% of the changes in BI. In this model, SN and PEU were the determining factors of BI. The total effect of ATU was 0.793, followed by SE, with a total effect of 0.554. As a result, the intentions of teachers to learn to use AI-based applications in their teaching can be predicted by ATU, SE, PEU, PU and AN. Among them, teachers’ SE positively influenced teachers’ PEU and ATU towards adopting AI-based applications, and also influenced PU through PEU. In addition, the relationship between teachers’ SE and AN was negatively correlated, which indicated that enhancing teachers’ SE could reduce their AN towards using AI-based applications in their teaching. Accordingly, implications and suggestions for researchers and school teachers are provided.

From a phylogenetic tree the authors identify an ancient hexaploidization event, and report the evolution of gene families including fruit ripening, fruit coloration, polysaccharide synthesis and self-incompatibility within Solanaceae and the general biogeography of L. barbarum.

C-H activation and functionalization are on the forefront of modern synthetic chemistry. Imagine if any C-H bond of a molecule could be converted to a C-X bond, where X is the target functionality-this would alter the synthetic blueprints for complex target molecules since it would provide novel disconnections in retrosynthetic analysis. Collaborations between many experimental and computational groups have led to rapid developments of new C-H functionalization methods. Our groups represent an example of this; we were brought together as part of the NSF-supported Center for Selective C-H Functionalization. Many examples of experimental-computational synergy for selective Pd(II)-catalyzed C-H activation of aryl and alkyl groups are described in this Account. We describe computations by the Houk group made in response to experimental stimuli by the Yu group. The first section discusses the experimental and computational investigations of oxazoline-directed stereoselective Pd(II)-catalyzed C(sp3)-H bond activation that occurs through the concerted metalation-deprotonation (CMD) pathway involving a monomeric Pd(II) complex. The second section involves two types of bidentate ligands, mono-N-protected amino acid (MPAA) and acetyl-protected aminoethyl quinoline (APAQ) ligands that promote the C-H activation reactions with the ligand as the internal base. In the MPAA-assisted remote C-H bond activation, the basic dianionic amidate ligand participates in the deprotonation of a specific C-H bond. This mechanism accounts for the improved reactivity and selectivity in C-H activation reactions with MPAA ligands. The chiral APAQ ligands enable asymmetric palladium insertion into prochiral C-H bonds on a single methylene carbon center. The dianionic amidate of the APAQ ligand acts as an intramolecular base to deprotonate the methylene C-H asymmetrically and facilitate chiral Pd-C bond formation. The origins of the dramatic differences of five-membered (relatively inactive) and six-membered (highly active) chelation in β-methylene C(sp3)-H activation reactions by a Pd(II) catalyst were explained with density functional theory (DFT) calculations. This is mainly due to the steric repulsions between the ArF group of the substrate and the quinoline group of the ligand. The steric repulsion between the ArF group of the substrate and the quinoline group of the APAQ ligand destabilizes the five-membered chelate transition structure, increasing the energy of the transition state. The third section discusses a mechanism involving a Pd-Ag heterodimeric complex intermediate in the template-directed, Pd(II)-catalyzed remote meta functionalization of toluene derivatives and benzoic acid derivatives. The nitrile directing group of the template coordinates with Ag while the Pd is placed adjacent to the meta-C-H bond in the transition state, leading to the observed high meta selectivity. The selective activation of remote meta-C-H bonds at various distances can be achieved by tuning the template. The dual role of AgOAc as both an oxidant and part of the heteronuclear active species in the mechanism involving PdAg(OAc)3 was determined by DFT calculations and is in accord with literature information about complexes. For the systems discussed in these three sections, the similarity is that they all proceed via the CMD mechanism. The differences lie in the proton acceptors and the active Pd species. Common CMD involves a monomeric Pd mechanism with acetate as the proton acceptor. Both MPAA and APAQ ligands react via monomeric Pd mechanisms with a ligand moiety (the amidate oxygen) as the proton acceptor. Nitrile-containing template-mediated meta-C-H activations proceed via a Pd-Ag heterodimeric mechanism, still with acetate as the proton acceptor. The interaction between our two groups, experts in experiment and computation, and the discoveries made possible by that interplay are highlighted in this Account.

We report the first observed Pd-catalyzed isomerization ("cage-walking") of B(9)-bromo-meta-carborane during Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling, which enables the formation of B-O and B-N bonds at all boron vertices (B(2), B(4), B(5), and B(9)) of meta-carborane. Experimental and theoretical studies suggest this isomerization mechanism is strongly influenced by the steric crowding at the Pd catalyst by either a biaryl phosphine ligand and/or substrate. Ultimately, this "cage-walking" process provides a unique pathway to preferentially introduce functional groups at the B(2) vertex using B(9)-bromo-meta-carborane as the sole starting material through substrate control.

ABSTRACT The compositional and physiological responses of autotrophic microbiotas to salinity in lakes remain unclear. In this study, the community composition and carbon fixation pathways of autotrophic microorganisms in lacustrine sediments with a salinity gradient (82.6 g/L to 0.54 g/L) were investigated by using metagenomic analysis. A total of 117 metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) with carbon fixation potentially belonging to 20 phyla were obtained. The abundance of these potential autotrophs increased significantly with decreasing salinity, and the variation of sediment autotrophic microbial communities was mainly affected by salinity, pH, and total organic carbon. Notably, along the decreasing salinity gradient, the dominant lineage shifted from Desulfobacterota to Proteobacteria. Meanwhile, the dominant carbon fixation pathway shifted from the Wood-Lungdahl pathway to the less-energy-efficient Calvin-Benson-Bassham cycle, with glycolysis shifting from the Embden-Meyerhof-Parnas pathway to the less-exergonic Entner-Doudoroff pathway. These results suggest that the physiological efficiency of autotrophic microorganisms decreased when the environmental salinity became lower. Metabolic inference of these MAGs revealed that carbon fixation may be coupled to the oxidation of reduced sulfur compounds and ferrous iron, dissimilatory nitrate reduction at low salinity, and dissimilatory sulfate reduction in hypersaline sediments. These results extend our understanding of metabolic versatility and niche diversity of autotrophic microorganisms in saline environments and shed light on the response of autotrophic microbiomes to salinity. These findings are of great significance for understanding the impact of desalination caused by climate warming on the carbon cycle of saline lake ecosystems. IMPORTANCE The Qinghai-Tibetan lakes are experiencing water increase and salinity decrease due to climate warming. However, little is known about how the salinity decrease will affect the composition of autotrophic microbial populations and their carbon fixation pathways. In this study, we used genome-resolved metagenomics to interpret the dynamic changes in the autotrophic microbial community and metabolic pathways along a salinity gradient. The results showed that desalination drove the shift of the dominant microbial lineage from Desulfobacterota to Proteobacteria, enriched autotrophs with lower physiological efficiency pathways, and enhanced coupling between the carbon cycle and other element cycles. These results can predict the future response of microbial communities to lake desalination and improve our understanding of the effect of climate warming on the carbon cycle in saline aquatic ecosystems.

Temporal niche partitioning is an important strategy for sympatric species or populations when utilizing limited resources while minimizing competition. Different resource availability across seasons may also influence the intensity of competition, resulting in a varied temporal niche partitioning pattern between species. These competitive interactions are important drivers for the formation of biodiversity patterns and species coexistence on the eastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. To clarify these interspecies relationships among sympatric species, we carried out a camera trap survey from 2017 to 2020. We deployed 60 camera traps in the temperate coniferous forests of the eastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. We analyzed the daily activity patterns of birds and mammals to reveal the temporal niches and seasonal relationships among the species-specific activity rhythms. The results are summarized as follows: (1) Eight major species, including mammals and birds, have different temporal peak activity rhythms to reduce intense competition for resources. (2) The activity rhythm of a species varies seasonally, and the competition among species is more intense in the warm season than in the cold season. (3) Among 15 pairs of competitor species, seven pairs had significantly different coefficients, with higher winter values than summer values, perhaps due to the abundance of resources in summer and the scarcity of resources in winter causing intensified competition. Among the predators and prey, the summertime coefficients were higher than those in winter, perhaps due to the need to replenish energy during the summer breeding season. The main purpose of animals in winter is to survive the harsh environment. Our results provide important information on temporal and interspecies relationships and contribute to a better understanding of species-coexistence mechanisms.

In recent years, smart healthcare technologies used to facilitate precision medicine in clinical practice have increasingly become a topic of discussion. Nurses and nurse preceptors are critical professionals in hospitals, and are also the frontline staff using smart healthcare. The purpose of this study was to investigate nurses' and nurse preceptors' perceptions of smart healthcare (including learning motivation, learning attitudes, and personal innovativeness) and the differences in their conceptions of learning in smart healthcare technology contexts. The research findings showed that nurse preceptors had higher mean scores than nurses for learning motivation, learning attitudes, and personal innovativeness in smart healthcare, especially for learning attitudes and personal innovativeness. The nurse preceptors' conceptions of learning in smart healthcare technology contexts were also more diverse than those of nurses. The main differences are that nurses' drawings showed a healthcare setting where learners (both patients and nurses) use computers to connect to cloud services for online visits, and where patients can engage in online health education learning activities via computers or mobile devices. The nurse preceptors' drawings focused on the delivery of nursing knowledge and skills to learners via VR technologies, helping diagnose patients, analyzing medical data, and predicting healthcare through smart healthcare technologies. In Chinese, writing is a basic competency that pupils should possess. But it is still challenging for teachers to improve pupils' writing abilities. Therefore, this study proposes an intelligence-based cognitive diagnostic feedback strategy to improve pupils' writing ability and writing learning quality by analyzing their writing performance, epistemic network structure, and learning engagement. Thepupils are randomly divided into an experimental group (N = 28) and a control group (N = 28). The experimental group adopts the ICDF strategy, while the control group adopts the WS-TF strategy. The results showed that the I-CDF strategy improved the pupil's writing scores and learning engagement. In addition, the results of the epistemic network analysis showed that the pupils using the ICDF strategy focused on dynamic descriptions such as action, psychology, and environmental changes in vocabulary use, and the epistemic network structure was more complex than the control group. Reading comprehension is critical and challenging for the English learning process. EFL (English as Foreign Language) learners often do not understand the meaning of the text due to the lack of an authentic learning context. This easily leads learners to read literally without deeply understanding. To address this issue, an article-structure strategy-based SVVR (short for ASS-SVVR) approach was proposed in the study, in which spherical video-based virtual reality (SVVR) was employed to immerse EFL learners in a real environment, and the article-structure strategy was introduced as step-by-step reading scaffolding to improve reading efficiency, accuracy, and comprehension. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach, a quasi-experiment was conducted in an English reading class at a university with two classes of 63 EFL learners. Among them, 33 learners were randomly distributed to the experimental group, conducting the ASS-SVVR approach, while the remaining 30 were assigned to the control group, conducting the conventional SVVR (C-SVVR) approach. The research findings showed that EFL students conducting the ASS-SVVR approach had positive performance in reading comprehension, extrinsic learning motivation, and metacognitive awareness of reading strategy. In this cross-sectional study of 1475 Chinese university students, we explored associated factors of attitude and willingness of biodiversity conservation, analyzed the hypothesized mediation by social support in the association between attitude and willingness of biodiversity conservation. Multivariate logistic regression model revealed that major and social support were prominently related to both attitude and willingness of biodiversity conservation. Besides, path model identified a statistically significant mediation by social support, sex, race, and family residence presented noticeable effect modification on the mediation of social support. These major findings suggest that intervention measures which aiming at enhancing social support could be considered for elevating attitude and willingness of biodiversity conservation among Chinese university students. This study was designed to compare the antioxidant, antitumor and anti-inflammatory effects of essential oils from the bark and flower of Magnolia officinalis Rehd. et Wils. Distillation extraction and steam distillation were used to extract EOs from the bark and flower. The results showed that the contents of EOs of SDE-F and SDE-B were much higher than that of SD-F and SD-B. EOs from the bark were rich in eudesmol (especially α-eudesmol) and exhibited a stronger antioxidant effect than the flower. The anti-tumor effects of SD-B and SD-F on HepG2 and MDA-MB-231 cells were better than that of SDE-B and SDE-F. The inhibitory rates of SD-B and SD-F on MDA-MB-231 cells were 59.21% and 48.27%, exceeding that of positive control 5-fluorouracil (47.04%) at 50 μg/mL. All four EOs exhibited excellent anti-inflammatory activities through the regulation of nitric oxide production and pro-inflammation cytokines in LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells and they also remarkably suppressed the mRNA expressions of nitric oxide synthase, IL-6 and TNF-α at the concentration higher than that of positive control dexamethasone. These results indicated significant differences in the composition, and anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor activities of EOs extracted by different methods and provided a theoretical basis for their development and utilization.
