Through empirical research on the social development of pastoral society in the East Ujimqin Banner, this study puts forward that within the government's "passive development" discourse, local herders would prefer to consciously practice "active development". This method both respects local culture and traditions, and triggers a shift from exogenous to endogenous development. My study shows that only by cultivating the self-development mechanism of ethnic minorities and the initiative to participate in development can we realize the social development of pastoral areas. The survival practices constructed by the local society according to its traditional mechanisms are not only connected with the external market and the state as modes of production, but also enable the local society's modes of livelihood to be maintained and the traditional social culture to continue amid the continuous transformation taking place under the impact of pastoral modernization. One of the facts that characterizes the years of conflict in Catalonia since 2017 is the proliferation of visual elements on the street, which reflect the confrontation with the Spanish state such as flags, messages in the form of banners or painted on the walls, and other visual elements of protest. Beyond the symbolic value of these visual elements, a theoretical posthumanist approach of this social activism in public spaces leads us to apply a postanthropocentric, non-dual and relational perspective. In this way, without forgetting the importance of discourse, meaning and structure, attention is focused on affects, intensities and the event in its deleuzian sense. The unit of analysis is not the visual elements or people but the assemblages, relational fields in which affects, feelings and emotions emerge. The space and the elements that make up the space are not misunderstood as something disassociated from the subject but rather understood in terms of emplacement (Howes 2005), that is, the sensuous and co-constitutive interrelationship of body, mind and environment. The visual elements on which I will focus my presentation are co-participants of the social life and they powerfully contribute to the generation of emotional atmospheres that are central to understanding the emoscape of Catalonia and its polarized identities in these current years of conflict. A new snapping shrimp, Alpheus richpalmeri sp. nov., is described based on three specimens collected in the muddy–rocky intertidal of São Tomé Island, Gulf of Guinea, tropical eastern Atlantic. The new species belongs to the Alpheus brevirostris (Olivier, 1811) species group, sharing a series of morphological features and a similar colour pattern with two Atlantic species of the group, e.g., Alpheus roblesi Bracken-Grissom and Felder, 2014 and Alpheus ulalae Bracken-Grissom and Felder, 2014, as well as with the Indo-West Pacific Alpheus platyunguiculatus (Banner, 1953). The new species may have been previously reported from the tropical eastern Atlantic by A. Crosnier and J. Forest (1966. Ann. Inst. Oceanogr. Monaco, 44: 199–314) under the name Alpheus floridanus floridanus Kingsley, 1878, which is clearly different from the lectotype of Alpheus floridanus Kingsley, 1878 upon which H.D. Bracken-Grissom and D.L. Felder (2014. Zootaxa, 3895(4): 451–491) based their redescription of this species. The form previously known as Alpheus floridanus var. africana Balss, 1916, or Alpheus floridanus africanus, is elevated to full species rank as Alpheus africanus stat. nov., based on morphological differences and geographical separation from A. floridanus. Potassic-hastingsite (IMA2018–160), ideally KCa2(Fe2+4Fe3+)(Si6Al2)O22(OH)2,was discovered in Danailingou, Inner Mongolia, China. Potassic-hastingsite is black to dark green with a vitreous luster, brittle with conchoidal fracture. The {110} cleavage is perfect and the calculated density is 3.541 g·cm−3. It is biaxial negative with α = 1.708 (2), β = 1.716 (3) and γ = 1.718 (3). Combined electron probe,icro-analyser (EPMA) and Mössbauer spectroscopy data yielded 35.02 wt% SiO2, 0.35 wt% TiO2, 10.69 wt% Al2O3, 0.03 wt% Cr2O3, 7.33 wt% Fe2O3, 26.08 wt% FeO, 11.35 wt% CaO, 0.43 wt% MnO, 0.23 wt% MgO, 0.061 wt% Na2O, 2.79 wt% K2O, F 0.00 wt%, Cl 2.79 wt%, Cl ≡ O − 0.67 wt%, and H2O+ 1.43 wt%, resulting in an analytical total of 98.66 wt%. The empirical structural formula, calculated based of the assumption of a total of 24 anions per formula unit and OH + F + Cl = 2 atoms per formula unit (apfu) at the W site is A(K0.61Na0.20Ca0.07)0.88BCa2.00C(Fe2+3.72Fe3+0.94Al0.12Mn0.06Mg0.06Ti0.04Ni0.01)4.96T(Si5.97Al2.03)O22(OH1.14Cl0.86). The derived simplified formula is (K,Na,□)Ca2(Fe2+,Fe3+)5[(Si,Al)6Al2]O22(OH,Cl)2. Potassic-hastingsite is monoclinic, space group C2/m, with the unit-cell parameters a = 9.9405(7) Å; b = 18.2561(19) Å; c = 5.3501(3) Å; β = 105.117(5)°; V = 937.304(11) Å3; Z = 2. The structure was solved (R1 0.044) using all measured independent data and the reflections with I>2σ (I). The strongest six X-ray powder-diffraction lines [d in Å; (I/I0); (hkl)] are 8.504 (100) (110), 3.417 (35) (131), 3.155 (60) (310), 2.735 (70) (151), 2.623 (35) (061) and 2.570 (35) ( 2 ¯ 02). Under the two banners of “Mr. Democracy” and “Mr. Science” lies the radical iconoclast agenda for the New Culture and May Fourth Movement. To further elaborate the theme in my recent book Lin Yutang and China’s Search for Modern Rebirth, this paper explicates the central role Lin Yutang played in heralding “Mr. Democracy” and “Mr. Science” while engaging in a constructive critique of traditional Chinese culture. Unlike Hu Shi or Lu Xun, Lin Yutang did not entertain a radical iconoclastic approach. Instead, he tried to seek for the path towards Chinese cultural renaissance through his literary and cultural practices in various aspects of Chinese culture, whether Confucian, Legalist, Taoist, literary or religious. As the online advertisement industry continues to grow, it is predicted that online advertisement will account for about 45% of global advertisement spending by 2020.a Thus, predicting the click-through rates (CTRs) of advertisements is increasingly crucial for the advertisement industry. Many studies have already addressed the CTR prediction. However, most studies tried to solve the problem using only metadata such as user id, URL of the landing page, business category, device type, etc., and did not include multimedia contents such as images or texts. Using these multimedia features with deep learning techniques, we propose a method to effectively predict CTRs for online banners, a popular form of online advertisements. We show that multimedia features of advertisements are useful for the task at hand. In our previous work [1], we proposed a CTR prediction model, which outperformed the state-of-the-art method that uses the three features mentioned above, and also we introduced an attention network for visualizing how much each feature affected the prediction result. In this work, we introduce another text analysis technique and more detailed metadata. As a result, we have achieved much better performance as compared to our previous work. Besides, for better analyzing of our model, we introduce another visualization technique to show regions in an image that make its CTR better or worse. This article discusses the sinicization of the Qing State and the transformation of Qing institutions within the framework of Ibn Khaldun's concept of asabiyyah and the approach of cyclical history. In various discussions on this subject, it is seen that the concepts in Ibn Khaldun's theory have been analyzed incompletely and misunderstood. Accordingly, we will firstly address the concepts in Ibn Khaldun's political theory and the approach of cyclical history. We will explain the Manchu identity and the Eight Banners within the framework of Ibn Khaldun's concept of asabiyyah, and then we will discuss the sinicization of the Qing State in the context of Ibn Khaldun's theory and approach of cyclical history. Columns 3-4 of the Qumran War Scroll contain a series of prescriptions for inscriptions on trumpets and banners. These have traditionally been read as entirely metaphorical or literary inventions. However, these lists depict an impetus to materiality similar to certain Second Temple Period inscribed metal and papyrus amulets, and they contain many elements in common with what has often been termed the Qumran apotropaic tradition. We should thus question whether these inscriptions might be depicting the manufacture of apotropaic devices for a more mundane usage. That these inscriptions are highly structured and can be grouped into statements of either praise or divine election, both of which are common apotropaic elements, indicates some apotropaic efficacy for the Ya?ad movement. As with the various Qumran tefillin and mezuzot, we should also question whether these inscriptions would have a performative element that would relate them to prayer or incantation. Potential vorticity is among the most important scalar quantities in atmospheric dynamics. For instance, potential vorticity plays a key role in particularly strong wind peaks in extratropical cyclones and it is able to explain the occurrence of frontal rain bands. Potential vorticity combines the key quantities of atmospheric dynamics, namely rotation and stratification. Under suitable wind conditions elongated banners of potential vorticity appear in the lee of mountains. Their role in atmospheric dynamics has recently raised considerable interest in the meteorological community for instance due to their influence in aviation wind hazards and maritime transport. In order to support meteorologists and climatologists in the analysis of these structures, we developed an extraction algorithm and a visual exploration framework consisting of multiple linked views. For the extraction we apply a predictor-corrector algorithm that follows streamlines and realigns them with extremal lines of potential vorticity. Using the agglomerative hierarchical clustering algorithm, we group banners from different sources based on their proximity. To visually analyze the time-dependent banner geometry, we provide interactive overviews and enable the query for detail on demand, including the analysis of different time steps, potentially correlated scalar quantities, and the wind vector field. In particular, we study the relationship between relative humidity and the banners for their potential in indicating the development of precipitation. Working with our method, the collaborating meteorologists gained a deeper understanding of the three-dimensional processes, which may spur follow-up research in the future. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The effectiveness of banner advertisements has gained considerable attention among academics and practitioners. Despite the research progress in investigating the effect of banner properties (e.g., animation and location) on user perception and behavior, there is still a very limited understanding of how the properties of a banner and the surroundings of a website on which a banner is displayed can jointly influence its effectiveness. This study used eye-tracking technology to investigate the impact of banner animation and webpage complexity on users' attention and memory performance. The results show that, during a free browsing task, an animated banner can attract earlier, greater, and more frequent attention from users and lead to better memory performance than a static one. Similarly, a banner on a low-complexity webpage also attracts earlier and more frequent attention among users and results in better memory performance than that on a high-complexity webpage. One implication is that an animated banner or a banner on a low-complexity webpage can provide a promising means of attracting users' attention and enhancing their memory of the banners. Moreover, this study finds an interaction effect between banner animation and webpage complexity on the time to first fixation on a banner, but not on the total numbers or duration of fixations on a banner, or users' memory performance. The finding highlights that an animated banner on a low-complexity website can be the most effective means to shorten the time to first fixation and quickly attract users' attention. However, it cannot be deemed the most effective in generating greater and more frequent fixations on a banner, or leading to superior user memory performance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

It notes that Cookie banners, Consent Walls and Popups are like little else symbols for formalism. It discusses the key messages of the judgment and discusses the probable execution of the decision by the German data protection supervisory authorities.

The article offers information on the Le Pont des Arts bridge in Paris, France and promise of a transnational consciousness. Topics discussed include romantic esthetic of the lovers' bridge, presenting a link between the here and now of a nation-centric world; proclamation of a transnational consciousness by banner; and amorous declarations and the promise of enduring love signified by the locks.

Web accessibility refers to allowing people with diverse capabilities to use the Internet, interact with it and contribute to it. The Web offers content and services to users, which is primarily monetized through advertisements. Web accessibility issues arise when a homogeneous team of web designers and developers produce homogeneous content and services for a very heterogeneous group of Internet users and ignores the web accessibility guidelines. One such content is Internet advertisements whose volume on web pages has increased significantly from last decade. In this paper, we shed light on how advertisements can cause various accessibility barriers to persons with visual impairments. This study also attempts to identify the potential determinants and various advertisement formats, which cause multiple accessibility barriers. Our findings indicate that advertisements lack accessibility features, which cause the disturbance (63%), insecure feelings (63%), user performance decrease (60%), content obstruction (90%), Web page backtrack issues (90%) and security issues (20%) for persons with visual impairments. To decrease the intensity of advertisement-related barriers, we have proposed some solutions and advertisement creation techniques and tweaks, which can be followed by designers and developers to improve the accessibility of these web advertisements. The primary aim of the article is to identify the degree of creativity in the expressive means employed by citizens showing their attitudes to the current political situation. Other aims of the text include the identification of rhetorical, linguistic and stylistic resources and explicit and implicit inspirations related to art present in the recorded messages. The authors address three research questions arising from the above-mentioned aims. The research material consists of photographs of 203 different messages in the form of banners, scale models, models, ready-made, objet trouvé, performances and other textual and/or visual representations displayed during the protest held on 16th March 2018 on the SNP Square in Bratislava, which was held after the brutal murder of Slovak investigative journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée Martina Kušnírová. The authors use a modified method of content and image analysis and product creativity evaluation. The data is analysed both qualitatively and quantitatively, i.e. via triangulation approach. In the concluding part of the study, the authors discuss the available options in connection with the use of banners and other messages as a means of self-expression and manifestation of commitment, political activism and civic engagement.
