213. Single Atom Bi Decorated Copper Alloy Enables C−C Coupling for Electrocatalytic Reduction of CO2 into C2+ Products**.

Abstract

Single atom alloy (SAA) catalysts have been recently explored for promotion of various heterogeneous catalysis, but it remains unexplored for selective electrocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) into multi‐carbon (C2+) products involving C−C coupling. Herein we report a single‐atomic Bi decorated Cu alloy (denoted as BiCu‐SAA) electrocatalyst that could effectively modulate selectivity of CO2 reduction into C2+ products instead of previous C1 ones. The BiCu‐SAA catalyst exhibits remarkably superior selectivity of C2+ products with optimal Faradaic efficiency (FE) of 73.4 % compared to the pure copper nanoparticle or Bi nanoparticles‐decorated Cu nanocomposites, and its structure and performance can be well maintained at current density of 400 mA cm−2 under the flow cell system. Based on our in situ characterizations and density functional theory calculations, the BiCu‐SAA is found to favor the activation of CO2 and subsequent C−C coupling during the electrocatalytic reaction, as should be responsible for its extraordinary C2+ selectivity. Abstract

There is currently limited information on the prognostic value of the dNLR-PNI (the combination of the derived neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio [dNLR] and prognostic nutritional index [PNI]) score for patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). We aimed to explore the predictive value of a dNLR-PNI score on the long-term prognosis of patients with ACS undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). A total of 1773 patients with ACS who underwent PCI were consecutively enrolled from January 2016 to December 2018. The cutoff values of dNLR and PNI to predict major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) were calculated using receiver operating characteristic curves. The patients were divided into three groups based on the dNLR-PNI score, and Kaplan–Meier curves and Cox regression models were used for survival analysis. The endpoints were MACE, including all-cause mortality and rehospitalisation for severe heart failure during follow-up. A total of 1542 patients with ACS who underwent PCI were included. Kaplan–Meier curves showed that a higher level of dNLR, PNI, or dNLR-PNI score was associated with a higher risk of MACE (all p <.001). In multivariate Cox regression models, the dNLR-PNI two score (hazard ratio 3.049, 95% confidence interval 1.503–6.184, p =.002) was found to be an independent predictor of all-cause mortality and rehospitalization for severe heart failure. A high dNLR-PNI score was independently associated with a higher risk of developing MACE in patients with ACS undergoing PCI. Abstract

This article explores English readers' reception of Fortress Besieged as a translated literary work in the digital space, based on descriptive statistics, sentiment analysis, and content analysis of their comments at categorized dimensions. This study discovers that English readership online tends to devalue the translators' craftsmanship, especially the interlingual transfer of cultural contents, and the sluggish pace of this novel's storyline. However, the generally successful preservation of the humor and satire of the source text is appreciated. Through bringing cyberspace readers' voices to the academic frontier, this study highlights the necessity of a fluent plot, cultural transfer challenges, and the adornment of figurative language when translating novels for English readers. 241. Hong Lou Mengin the English World: reception of a translated Chineseclassic in digital media

Abstract

ABSTRACTAs an integration of translation studies with audience research in media studies, this paper explores how English readers react to the translated Chinese classic novel Hong Lou Meng. This exploration is primarily based on qualitative and quantitative analyses of a tagged corpus of digital reader reviews of four English translations of the novel by Hawks & Minford, the Yangs, Wang, and Joly. This study reveals that English versions of Hong Lou Menghave small readership, despite receiving generally positive evaluations. Readers appreciate the novel’s setting and poetry in all of the English versions, although the sporadic plot is not highly valued. The myriad character names that are mostly Romanised pose a notable challenge for English readers. In relation to the circulation of novels across languages and cultures, this study underlines the importance of a focused storyline and readable exotic cultural and literary elements to attract a large readership to translated literature.

243. Changing Landscape of Diabetes Prevalence Among Asian Immigrants and White Americans in California 2003-2013

Abstract

Objectives: Asians are at high risk for diabetes mellitus (DM), yet there is little population-based information about DM prevalence among subgroups of immigrants and US-born Asians in the US over time. The purpose of this study is to compare the prevalence and odds ratios (ORs) of DM between Asian and Asian subgroup immigrants and White in California using data from 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013 California Health Interview Survey (CHIS).Methods: Six CHIS datasets were analyzed and compared to determine the prevalence of DM among Asian Immigrants and White from 2003 to 2013. Subjects who reported a physician-diagnosis of diabetes (type 1 and type 2) were considered to have DM (borderline/prediabetes and gestational diabetes were not included). Multivariable logistic regression models were built to calculate adjusted ORs of DM and to find the potential explanations for the differences in the prevalence results.Results: There was a trend towards higher rate of diabetes for both Asian Immigrants and White in California over the last decade. Asian Immigrants had a continuously higher prevalence of DM compared to White, and the difference was greater especially in 2013. Prevalence of DM varied greatly among Asian subgroups with Filipinos and Koreans being two highest groups. After adjusting for confounding variables (age, sex, obesity, education attainment, insurance status, English proficiency, smoking status, taking medication to control high blood pressure), the ORs of DM between Asian Immigrants and White were 1.71(0.96-3.05), 1.31(0.81-2.13), 1.22(0.79-1.89), 2.19*(1.13-4.22), 1.81*(1.15-2.87), 2.09*(1.05-4.18) for 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2013 CHIS dataset respectively. Conclusions: Overall, Asian Immigrants were more likely to develop DM compared to White in California during the last decade, even after controlling for confounding variables. Great variability exists in DM prevalence among Asian subgroups and this should be considered in future studies.
