There is a trend that customers increasingly join the online brand community. However, evidence shows that there are nuances between different user segments, and only a small group of users are active. Thus, one key concern marketers face is identifying and targeting specific segments and decreasing user churn rates in an online environment. To this end, this study aims to propose a UGC-based segmentation of online brand community users, identify the characteristics of each segment, and consequently reduce online brand community users' churn rate. We used python to obtain users' post data from a well-known online brand community in China between July 2012 and December 2019, resulting in 912,452 posts and 20,493 users. We then use text mining and clustering methods to segment the users and compare the differences between the segments. Three groups—information-oriented users, entertainment-oriented users, and multi-motivation users—were emerged. Our results imply that entertainment-oriented users were the most active, yet, multi-directional users have the lowest probability of churn, with a churn rate of only 0.607 times than that of users who focus either on information or entertainment. Implications for marketing and future research opportunities are discussed.

The experience value of online education is a hot topic in both theoretical and practical circles, but research on its mechanism of action is limited. Therefore, this study systematically investigates the relationship between brand image, experience value, and continuance intention through a theoretical analysis of brand image, and discusses the boundary role of effective commitment in it. In this study, 475 users were used to conduct structural equation modeling analysis. The results of the study found that experience value had a positive and significant effect on user continuance intention under the significant influence of brand image, but affective commitment did not play a positive moderating role in the relationship between experience value and continuance intention. This study examines the mechanism of the antecedents and consequences of experience value, and provides a new direction for the construction of online education and the development of online education and marketing strategies.

As a traditional Chinese medicine, Dalbergia tsoi Merr.et Chun (JZX) has been used for the treatment of wounds since ancient times. However, the active compounds and molecular mechanisms of JZX in the acceleration of wound healing are still unknown. Herein, we explored the main active compounds and key molecular mechanisms by which JZX accelerates wound healing. The ethanol extract of JZX was subjected to UPLC-Q-Orbitrap HRMS analysis to identify the main compounds. The pharmacological effect of JZX on wound healing was evaluated using a mouse excision wound model. Network pharmacology was utilized to predict the effective compounds and related signal transduction pathways of JZX that were involved in accelerating wound healing. The predicted key signaling pathways were then validated by immunohistochemical analysis. Interactions between the active compounds and therapeutic targets were confirmed by molecular docking analysis. JZX accelerated wound healing, improved tissue quality, and inhibited inflammation and oxidative stress. Moreover, our results suggested that the active components of JZX, such as butin, eriodyctiol, and formononetin, are the key compounds that facilitate wound treatment. Our studies also indicated that JZX accelerated wound healing by regulating the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway and inducing the expression of TGF-β1, FGF2, VEGFA, ECM1, and α-SMA at different stages of skin wound healing. The JZX extract accelerates wound healing by reducing inflammation and inhibiting oxidative stress, regulating the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway, and promoting the expression of growth factors, suggesting that JZX has potential clinical applicability in wound treatment.

BackgroundEarly diagnosis of sepsis in children was essential to reducing mortality. This study aimed to explore the value of ferroptosis-related genes in children with sepsis.MethodsWe screened the septic children microarray dataset from the GEO database and analyzed the ferroptosis-related differentially expressed genes (DEGs). A functional analysis of ferroptosis-related DEGs was performed. The protein–protein interaction network was used to identify hub genes. We explored the immune landscape of sepsis and controls. The value of hub genes in diagnosing sepsis was tested in the training (GSE26440) and validation sets (GSE13904), and ELISA was used to verify their diagnostic value in children with sepsis in our hospital.ResultsA total of 2,103 DEGs in GSE26440 were obtained, of which ferroptosis-related DEGs were 34. Enrichment analysis showed significant enrichment in the ferroptosis and hypoxia pathways (i.e., HIF-1 pathway). The top three genes (HMOX1, MAPK14, TLR4) were selected as hub genes. Immunological analysis suggested that 10 cell types (i.e., CD8/CD4 T cells) were lower in sepsis. Immune checkpoint-related genes CD274 (PD-L1), HAVCR2 (TIM3), and SIGLEC15 were overexpressed in sepsis. The AUROC for the diagnosis of sepsis for HMOX1 and TLR4 ranged from 0.77 to 0.81, while the AUROC of MAPK14 reached 0.935 and 0.941 in the training and validation sets. Serum ELISA results of HMOX1 and TLR4 showed no significant difference in differentiating sepsis. The AUROC of MAPK14 was 0.877. When the diagnostic threshold was 74.852 ng/ml, the sensitivity and specificity were 0.906 and 0.719, respectively.ConclusionFerroptosis-related gene MAPK14 is of considerable value in the early diagnosis of sepsis in children.

Although research has begun to explore the influence patterns of sense of virtual community, there is limited research on how sense of virtual community affects educational virtual community user engagement. Based on the educational virtual community context, this study constructs a theoretical model with moderation and mediation to explore the mediation mechanism of sense of virtual community affecting user engagement and its boundary conditions. In this study, the data collected from 377 users are analyzed by structural equation modeling. The research findings found that not only effective commitment has a mediating role between sense of virtual community and user engagement, but also perceived support has a moderating role in the process of effective commitment’s influence on user engagement. This study examines the practical effects of sense of virtual community in the context of educational virtual community use and reveals the mechanism of the effect of sense of virtual community on user engagement.

Many spacecraft fly within or through a natural and variable particle accelerator powered by the coupling between the magnetosphere and the solar wind: the Earth’s radiation belts. Determining the dominant pathways to plasma energization is a central challenge for radiation belt science and space weather alike. Inward radial transport from an external source was originally thought to be the most important acceleration process occurring in the radiation belts. Yet, when modeling relied on a radial diffusion equation including electron lifetimes, notable discrepancies in model-observation comparisons highlighted a need for improvement. Works by Professor Richard M. Thorne and others showed that energetic (hundreds of keV) electrons interacting with whistler-mode chorus waves could be efficiently accelerated to very high energies. The same principles were soon transposed to understand radiation belt dynamics at Jupiter and Saturn. These results led to a paradigm shift in our understanding of radiation belt acceleration, supported by observations of a growing peak in the radial profile of the phase space density for the most energetic electrons of the Earth’s outer belt. Yet, quantifying the importance of local acceleration at the gyroscale, versus large-scale acceleration associated with radial transport, remains controversial due to various sources of uncertainty. The objective of this review is to provide context to understand the variety of challenges associated with differentiating between the two main radiation belt acceleration processes: radial transport and local acceleration. Challenges range from electron flux measurement analysis to radiation belt modeling based on a three-dimensional Fokker-Planck equation. We also provide recommendations to inform future research on radiation belt radial transport and local acceleration.

Community experience has an important influence on the brand building of an online knowledge community. By enhancing the community experience of members, it can promote the building of an online knowledge community and increase users' purchase intention. Although existing research has explored the influence model of community experience, there is a dearth of research regarding the influence of community experience on purchase intention. To this end, this study uses the online knowledge community experience as a theoretical basis to construct a mediating model to examine the behavioral patterns of consumers using the online knowledge communities and to explore in detail the mechanisms of the different dimensions of the community experience on purchase intention. It was found that not only the three dimensions of community experience (i.e., information experience, entertainment experience, and interactive experience) had a significant effect on brand identity, but also brand identity had a significant effect on purchase intention. The study also confirmed that brand identity mediates the relationship between community experience and purchase intention. This study reveals the mediating mechanism of community experience on purchase intention and helps to effectively guide the innovative management practices of the online knowledge community.

The application of fog Internet of Things (IoT) technology helps solve the problem of weak computing power faced by IoT terminals. Due to asymmetric differences in communication methods, sensing data offloading from IoT terminals to fog and cloud layers faces different security issues, and both processes should be protected through certain data transmission protection measures. To take advantage of the relative asymmetry between cloud, fog, and sensing layers, this paper considers using physical layer security technology and encryption technology to ensure the security of the sensing data unloading process. An efficient resource allocation method based on deep reinforcement learning is proposed to solve the problem of channel and power allocation in fog IoT scenarios, as well as the selection of unloading destinations. This problem, which is NP-hard, belongs to the attribute of mixed integer nonlinear programming. Meanwhile, the supporting parameters of the method, including state space, action space, and rewards, are all adaptively designed based on scene characteristics and optimization goals. The simulation and analysis show that the proposed method possesses good convergence characteristics. Compared to several heuristic methods, the proposed method reduces latency by at least 18.7% on the premise that the transmission of sensing data is securely protected.

Objective: This study compared the long-term outcomes between rotational atherectomy (RA) for specific indications and on-label use of RA for severely calcified coronary lesions. Methods: Data for patients who underwent RA between 2015 and 2020 in a single-center registry were analyzed. The specific indication group included patients with ostial lesions, unprotected left main coronary artery stenosis, chronic total occlusions, stent ablation, angulated lesions, and cardiac dysfunction, whereas patients with none of the above-mentioned characteristics were included in the on-label group. The primary endpoint was compared between groups. Results: A total of 176 patients in the on-label group and 125 patients in the specific indication group were included. Patient clinical characteristics were comparable between groups. The incidence of complications during the procedure was higher in the specific indication group than in the on-label group (20.0% vs. 10.8%, P=0.018). No significant difference was observed in in-hospital MACCE between groups (12.5% vs 9.7%, P=0.392). During 35 (10–57) months of follow-up, MACCE occurred in 46 patients (15.3%). The incidence of MACCE was much higher in the specific indication group than the on-label group (25.6% vs 13.6%, P=0.034). Conclusions: RA for specific indications, compared with on-label use, had a higher incidence of complications during the procedure and poorer long-term clinical outcomes.

In this paper, scouring shear failure theory is optimized based on the gangue slope near the thermal power field in Baiguo Town, Panzhou City, Guizhou Province. Based on the particle flow PFC (particle flow code) 3D fluid–solid coupling method, the scouring failure mechanism of ditch no. 5 of the gangue slope is comprehensively analyzed from the perspectives of the failure mode, displacement, motion track, and stress–strain. We consider the scouring shear theory in respect of (c, φ); this theory is dominated by two types of scouring intensity factors and can effectively explain the internal mechanisms of gully formation. The rainfall scouring failure of gangue slopes can be divided into four stages: (1) integral splash erosion and local pitting at the bottom of the slope; (2) erosion diversion and pitting in the slope; (3) the tributary–slope crest extension schist erosion stage; and (4) integral gully erosion and the landslide stage. The failure process is not only characterized by discontinuous failure but also occurs in the order of bottom–middle–branch–top. A three-section stepped effect is observed during the process in which the gangue is scoured and destroyed, which fully verifies the intermittent characteristics of the scouring and destruction of gangue slopes. During the whole process, the maximum displacement is concentrated at the top of the slope, and its proportions are as follows: top of the slope > tributary > middle of the slope > foot of the slope. The peak displacement of the slope crest in the horizontal Y-direction accounts for 41.76%, and that in the Z-direction accounts for 45.84%. Scouring deposits can be divided into the arc erosion deposit mode and the sector erosion deposit mode. Mainstream gullies primarily control whether deposits are characterized as arc or straight erosion deposits. The later stage of the second phase of scouring is the incubation period of the tributary gully. The large accumulation makes the stress at the bottom of the slope increase sharply, and the fluctuation value is between 2 and 6.8 MPa. The generation of the branch notch is mainly determined by X-direction stress, and 8.6 MPa is the critical stress. In efforts to prevent and control rainfall and landslide, the slope foot area should be preferentially protected, and the soil mass in the slope should be reduced to prevent the maximum energy fluctuation caused by scouring, so as to prevent significant displacement damage of the slope top.

In this paper, we propose a novel method for planning grinding trajectories on curved surfaces to improve the grinding efficiency of large aluminum alloy surfaces with welds and defect areas. Our method consists of three parts. Firstly, we introduce a deficiency positioning method based on a two-dimensional image and three-dimensional point cloud, which enables us to accurately and quickly locate the three-dimensional defective areas. Secondly, we propose a 2D weld positioning method based on the defect area and obtain the spatial position of the 3D weld by combining the relationship between 2D and 3D images. Additionally, we propose an orthogonal projection method from the point cloud to the aluminum alloy surface to calculate the weld reinforcement. Thirdly, we present a space spiral grinding trajectory planning method for complex curved surfaces based on the characteristics of the weld reinforcement, spatial position, and spatial position information of the defect area. This method shortens the grinding time of the defect area and improves efficiency. Simulation and experimental results show that our grinding trajectory planning method is more efficient than other grinding methods in removing defects from the surface of aluminum alloys. Moreover, the defect area after grinding is smoother than before.

Meiyu-front rainstorm is one of the main disastrous weather events in summer in East China. In this study, seven assimilation experiments of multi-type observation data such as wind profile data, microwave radiometer data and radiosonde sounding data are designed to forecast the Meiyu-front rainstorm on 15 June 2020. The results show that the seven experiments can basically simulate the orientation of rain belt. The comprehensive experiment which assimilates all types of observations performs the best in simulating the location of heavy rainstorm and shows good performance in simulating the precipitation above moderate rain. For the comprehensive experiment, the forecast deviation of rainstorm and heavy rainstorm is small, and the equitable threat score has also been greatly improved compared with other experiments. It is found that the convective available potential energy is enhanced after the assimilation of surface observation data. In addition, the wind convergence and water vapor transportation are modified after assimilating wind profile data. Accordingly, the precipitation efficiency is improved in the comprehensive experiment. The profiles of pseudo-equivalent potential temperature, vorticity and divergence show that, the assimilation of new-types observation data from wind profiler radar and microwave radiometer increases the instability of atmospheric stratification and enhances the ascending motion in the heavy precipitation center. The above results show that the introduction of various some new-type data before the numerical simulation can reduce the forecast deviation. In addition, the combined assimilation of microwave radiometer and sounding data presents better performance than single data assimilation, which indicates that data mutual complementation is essential to improving forecast accuracy.

Thyroid cancer (TC) is the most common endocrine malignancy, with an approximately three-fold higher incidence in women. TCGA data indicate that androgen receptor (AR) RNA is significantly downregulated in PTC. In this study, AR-expressing 8505C (anaplastic TC) (84E7) and K1 (papillary TC) cells experienced an 80% decrease in proliferation over 6 days of exposure to physiological levels of 5α-dihydrotestosterone (DHT). In 84E7, continuous AR activation resulted in G1 growth arrest, accompanied by a flattened, vacuolized cell morphology, with enlargement of the cell and the nuclear area, which is indicative of senescence; this was substantiated by an increase in senescence-associated β-galactosidase activity, total RNA and protein content, and reactive oxygen species. Additionally, the expression of tumor suppressor proteins p16, p21, and p27 was significantly increased. A non-inflammatory senescence-associated secretory profile was induced, significantly decreasing inflammatory cytokines and chemokines such as IL-6, IL-8, TNF, RANTES, and MCP-1; this is consistent with the lower incidence of thyroid inflammation and cancer in men. Migration increased six-fold, which is consistent with the clinical observation of increased lymph node metastasis in men. Proteolytic invasion potential was not significantly altered, which is consistent with unchanged MMP/TIMP expression. Our studies provide evidence that the induction of senescence is a novel function of AR activation in thyroid cancer cells, and may underlie the protective role of AR activation in the decreased incidence of TC in men.

The species belonging to the Rhododendron genus are well-known for their colorful corolla. Molecular marker systems have the potential to elucidate genetic diversity as well as to assess genetic fidelity in rhododendrons. In the present study, the reverse transcription domains of long terminal repeat retrotransposons were cloned from rhododendrons and used to develop an inter-retrotransposon amplified polymorphism (IRAP) marker system. Subsequently, 198 polymorphic loci were generated from the IRAP and inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers, of which 119 were derived from the IRAP markers. It was shown that in rhododendrons, IRAP markers were superior to the ISSRs in some polymorphic parameters, such as the average number of polymorphic loci (14.88 versus 13.17). The combination of the IRAP and ISSR systems was more discriminative for detecting 46 rhododendron accessions than each of the systems on their own. Furthermore, IRAP markers demonstrated more efficiency in genetic fidelity detection of in-vitro-grown R. bailiense Y.P.Ma, C.Q.Zhang and D.F.Chamb, an endangered species recently recorded in Guizhzhou Province, China. The available evidence revealed the distinct properties of IRAP and ISSR markers in the rhododendron-associated applications, and highlighted the availability of highly informative ISSR and IRAP markers in the evaluation of genetic diversity and genetic fidelity of rhododendrons, which may facilitate preservation and genetic breeding of rhododendron plants.

Background: Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) is an antineutrophil-cytoplasmic-antibody (ANCA)-associated small-vessel vasculitis characterized by necrotizing granulomatous inflammation. Symptoms of skin involvement can appear in 30–50% of patients with GPA, and may present as the initial presentation. Case Presentation: We describe two patients who presented with multiple deep, large, nonhealing skin ulcers postoperatively with purulent drainage and fever. Both patients were diagnosed with GPA after an extensive evaluation, including histopathology. Infectious, connective tissue disease and malignant etiologies were excluded. Their cANCA and PR3-ANCA levels were positive. Patient 2 was diagnosed early and recovered well after treatment with corticosteroids and rituximab; however, Patient 1 had a poor prognosis due to a long disease course. Conclusions: Diseases with multiple deep, large skin ulcers and fever can be infectious or noninfectious. Atypical manifestations may lead to missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis. GPA may initially present in a localized form before progressing to a generalized disease. The two cases we have highlighted will prompt clinicians to nevertheless call for a low threshold for diagnosis.

Introduction: Many individuals test positive for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) RNA after recovering from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), but the incidence of reactivation is unknown. We, therefore, estimated the incidence of reactivation among individuals who had recovered from COVID-19 and determined its predictors. Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, patients with COVID-19 were followed up for at least 14 days after two consecutive negative SARS-CoV-2 polymerase chain reaction test results obtained ≥24 h apart, and the frequency of SARS-CoV-2 reactivation was assessed. Results: Of the 109 patients, 29 (27%) experienced reactivation, and seven (24%) of these were symptomatic. The mean period for the real-time PCR tests for SARS-CoV-2 from negative to positive results was 17 days. We investigated correlations between HBcrAg with antiviral efficacy and virological and histological variables. Methods:. One hundred and forty-five CHB patients from the mainland of China between August 2013 and September 2016 who underwent liver biopsy received entecavir therapy and had paired liver biopsy at 78 weeks. We analyzed correlations between HBcrAg and virological and histological variables in hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg)-positive and HBeAg-negative patients. Abstract Introduction Adult non-degenerative scoliosis accounts for 90% of spinal deformities in young adults. However, perioperative complications and related risk factors of long posterior instrumentation and fusion for the treatment of adult non-degenerative scoliosis have not been adequately studied. Methods We evaluated clinical and radiographical results from 146 patients with adult non-degenerative scoliosis who underwent long posterior instrumentation and fusion. Preoperative clinical data, intraoperative variables, and perioperative radiographic parameters were collected to analyze the risk factors for perioperative complications. Potential and independent risk factors for perioperative complications were evaluated by univariate analysis and logistic regression analysis. Results One hundred forty-six adult non-degenerative scoliosis patients were included in our study. There were 23 perioperative complications for 21 (14.4%) patients, eight of which were cardiopulmonary complications, two of which were infection, six of which were neurological complications, three of which were gastrointestinal complications, and four of which were incision-related complication. The independent risk factors for development of total perioperative complications included change in Cobb angle (odds ratio [OR] = 1.085, 95% CI = 1.035 ~ 1.137, P = 0.001) and spinal osteotomy (OR = 3.565, 95% CI = 1.039 ~ 12.236, P = 0.043). The independent risk factor for minor perioperative complications is change in Cobb angle (OR = 1.092, 95% CI = 1.023 ~ 1.165, P = 0.008). The independent risk factors for major perioperative complications are spinal osteotomy (OR = 4.475, 95% CI = 1.960 ~ 20.861, P = 0.036) and change in Cobb angle (OR = 1.106, 95% CI = 1.035 ~ 1.182, P = 0.003). Conclusions Our study indicate that change in Cobb angle and spinal osteotomy are independent risk factors for total perioperative complications after long-segment posterior instrumentation and fusion in adult non-degenerative scoliosis patients. Change in Cobb angle is an independent risk factor for minor perioperative complications. Change in Cobb angle and spinal osteotomy are independent risk factors for major perioperative complications.

As Internet of Things (IoT) applications become more prevalent and grow in their use, a limited number of wireless communication methods may be unable to enable dependable, robust delivery of information. It is necessary to enable adaptive communication and interoperability over a variety of wireless communication media to meet the requirements of large-scale IoT applications. This paper utilizes Named Data Networking (NDN), an up-and-coming Information-Centric Network architecture, to interconnect differing communication links via the network layer, and implements dynamic forwarding strategies and routing mechanisms which aid in the efficient dissemination of information. This work targets the creation of an interface technique to allow NDN to be transported via LoRa. This is acheived via the coupling of LoRa and WiFi using the NDN Forwarding Daemon (NFD) to create a universal ad hoc network. This network has the capacity for high range and multi-hop Device-to-Device (D2D) communication together with compatibility with other network communication media. Testing of the system in a real environment has shown that the newly created ad hoc network is capable of communicating over a several kilometer radius, while making use of the features provided by NDN to capitalize upon various links available to enable the efficient dissemination of data. Furthermore, the newly created network leverages NDN features to enable content-based routing within the LoRa network and utilize content-based routing techniques.

Abstract Background Recent studies suggest red blood cell distribution width (RDW) was a prognostic factor in various types of cancer patients, although the results are controversial. The objective of this study was to investigate the significance of RDW in patients with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) after radical resection. Method The relationship between the preoperative serum RDW value and clinic pathological characteristics was analyzed in 157 ICC patients between January 2012 and June 2018 who underwent curative resection. X-tile software was used to determine 40.2 fl, 12.6% as the optimal cut-off value for RDW-SD and RDW-CV respectively. 153 patients were classified into the low RDW-SD (≤ 40.2, n = 53) group and the high RDW-SD (> 40.2, n = 104) group, low RDW-CV (≤ 12.6, n = 94) group and the high RDW-CV (> 12.6, n = 63). Based on the RDW-SD combined with RDW-CV (SCC), classified into SCC = 0, 1 and 2 group. Kaplan–Meier survival analysis and Cox proportional hazard models were used to examine the effect of RDW on survival. Results Kaplan–Meier curve analysis showed that Patients with RDW-SD > 40.2 were significantly associated with better OS (P = 0.004, median OS: 68.0 months versus 17.0 months). Patients with RDW-CV > 12.6 were significantly associated with better OS (p = 0.030, median OS: not reach versus 22.0 months). Abstract Background Kounis syndrome is an acute coronary syndrome that appears in the setting of anaphylactic reaction or hypersensitivity. Many drugs and environmental exposures have been identified as potential offenders, and diagnosis and treatment can be challenging. Case presentation A 62-year-old man with recurrent bladder cancer underwent an intra-iliac artery epirubicin injection. After the injection, he developed chest pain and a systemic allergic reaction, with electrocardiographic alterations and elevated troponin-I levels. Emergent coronary angiography showed right coronary artery spasm and no stenosis of the other coronary arteries. This reaction was considered compatible with an allergic coronary vasospasm. A diagnosis of Kounis syndrome was made. Conclusions Kounis syndrome is common, but a prompt diagnosis is often not possible. This case is the first to suggest that an intraarterial epirubicin injection could potentially be one of its triggers. All physicians should be aware of the pathophysiology of this condition to better recognize it and start appropriate treatment; this will prevent aggravation of the vasospastic cardiac attacks and yield a better outcome.

However, there are fewer scientific dissertations about the risk of recurrent positive. The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between SARS-COV-2 RNA positive duration (SPD) and the risk of recurrent positive. Methods This case–control multi-center study enrolled participants from 8 Chinese hospital including 411 participants (recurrent positive 241). Using unadjusted and multivariate-adjusted logistic regression analyses, generalized additive model with a smooth curve fitting, we evaluated the associations between SPD and risk of recurrent positive. Besides, subgroup analyses were performed to explore the potential interactions. Results Among recurrent positive patients, there were 121 females (50.2%), median age was 50 years old [interquartile range (IQR): 38–63]. In non-adjusted model and adjusted model, SPD was associated with an increased risk of recurrent positive (fully-adjusted model: OR = 1.05, 95% CI: 1.02–1.08, P = 0.001); the curve fitting was not significant (P = 0.286). Comparing with SPD 28 days was risen substantially (OR = 3.09, 95% CI: 1.44–6.63, P = 0.004). Interaction and stratified analyses showed greater effect estimates of SPD and risk of recurrent positive in the hypertension, low monocyte count and percentage patients (P for interaction = 0.008, 0.002, 0.036, respectively). Conclusion SPD was associated with a higher risk of recurrent positive and especially SPD > 28 day had a two-fold increase in the relative risk of re-positive as compared with SPD

Abstract. Pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (pNENs) are highly heterogeneous, and the management of pNENs patients can be intractable. To address this challenge, an expert committee was established on behalf of the Chinese Pancreatic Surgery Association, which consisted of surgical oncologists, gastroenterologists, medical oncologists, endocrinologists, radiologists, pathologists, and nuclear medicine specialists. By reviewing the important issues regarding the diagnosis and treatment of pNENs, the committee concluded evidence-based statements and recommendations in this article, in order to further improve the management of pNENs patients in China.

The booming development of educational livestreaming platforms has caused the prevalence of user experience to a certain extent, which profoundly affects users' purchase intention and behavior, and has become a hot topic of current research in the online education field. However, there is a lack of in-depth analysis on the mechanism of the role of user experience in influencing purchase intention. Based on the analysis of user experience and psychological ownership, this study constructs a moderated mediation model to investigate the mediating psychological mechanism and boundary conditions of user experience affecting purchase intention. In this study, a valid sample of 372 users was used for structural equation modeling analysis. The results of the study found that user experience not only had a significant positive effect on purchase intention but was also mediated by psychological ownership. We also found that the effect of psychological ownership on purchase intention was moderated by privacy concerns. This study examines the role of user experience in purchase intention and reveals the mechanism of the role of user experience in an educational livestreaming platform.

Greater than 25% of all men develop an inguinal hernia in their lifetime, and more than 20 million inguinal hernia repair surgeries are performed worldwide each year. The mechanisms causing abdominal muscle weakness, the formation of inguinal hernias, or their recurrence are largely unknown. We previously reported that excessively produced estrogen in the lower abdominal muscles (LAMs) triggers extensive LAM fibrosis, leading to hernia formation in a transgenic male mouse model expressing the human aromatase gene (Aromhum). To understand the cellular basis of estrogen-driven muscle fibrosis, we performed single-cell RNA sequencing on LAM tissue from Aromhum and wild-type littermates. We found a fibroblast-like cell group composed of 6 clusters, 2 of which were validated for their enrichment in Aromhum LAM tissue. One of the potentially novel hernia-associated fibroblast clusters in Aromhum was enriched for the estrogen receptor-α gene (Esr1hi). Esr1hi fibroblasts maximally expressed estrogen target genes and seemed to serve as the progenitors of another cluster expressing ECM-altering enzymes (Mmp3hi) and to upregulate expression of proinflammatory, profibrotic genes. The discovery of these 2 potentially novel and unique hernia-associated fibroblasts may lead to the development of novel treatments that can nonsurgically prevent or reverse inguinal hernias.

Purpose: The aim of the study was to use machine learning methods (MLMs) to predict the stone-free status after percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL). We compared the performance of this system with Guy’s stone score and the S.T.O.N.E score system.Materials and Methods: Data from 222 patients (90 females, 41%) who underwent PCNL at our center were used. Twenty-six parameters, including individual variables, renal and stone factors, and surgical factors were used as input data for MLMs. We evaluated the efficacy of four different techniques: Lasso-logistic (LL), random forest (RF), support vector machine (SVM), and Naive Bayes. The model performance was evaluated using the area under the curve (AUC) and compared with that of Guy’s stone score and the S.T.O.N.E score system.Results: The overall stone-free rate was 50% (111/222). To predict the stone-free status, all receiver operating characteristic curves of the four MLMs were above the curve for Guy’s stone score. The AUCs of LL, RF, SVM, and Naive Bayes were 0.879, 0.803, 0.818, and 0.803, respectively. These values were higher than the AUC of Guy’s score system, 0.800. The accuracies of the MLMs (0.803% to 0.818%) were also superior to the S.T.O.N.E score system (0.788%). Among the MLMs, Lasso-logistic showed the most favorable AUC.Conclusion: Machine learning methods can predict the stone-free rate with AUCs not inferior to those of Guy’s stone score and the S.T.O.N.E score system.

PurposeWe aimed to compare different radiological criteria in evaluating the early tumor response of patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (uHCC) treated with an anti-programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) antibody plus bevacizumab.MethodFrom October 2018 to January 2020, 58 patients [49 (84.5%) men, age = 55.2 ± 10.6 years] receiving both anti-PD-1 antibody and bevacizumab were retrospectively included. Pre- and the first posttreatment contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CE-CT) scans were performed in all patients. The Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors, version 1.1 (RECIST 1.1), modified RECIST (mRECIST), Choi, and the revised Choi (rChoi) criteria were applied to evaluate tumor response. The endpoint event was defined as overall survival (OS).ResultsSix (10.3%), 9 (15.5%), 30 (51.7%), and 12 (20.7%) patients were diagnosed as responders by RECIST 1.1, mRECIST, Choi, and rChoi, respectively. The RECIST 1.1 and mRECIST criteria failed to correlate the evaluation categories with OS (p = 0.130 and 0.253, respectively), while both Choi and rChoi significantly correlated with OS (p = 0.002 and 0.006, respectively). Among the four criteria, only those patients identified as responders by Choi (p = 0.0005) and rChoi (p = 0.005) showed significantly better OS than the non-responders. The cumulative 1- and 2-year OS rates by Choi were 93.3% and 79.8% in responders and 69.3% and 30.3% in non-responders, respectively; these rates were 100.0% and 100.0% in responders and 74.9% and 43.1% in non-responders by rChoi, respectively.ConclusionsThe evaluation of early tumor response using Choi and rChoi instead of RECIST 1.1 and mRECIST significantly correlated with the OS of patients with uHCC treated with an anti-PD-1 antibody plus bevacizumab. Moreover, patients identified as responders by Choi and rChoi showed significantly better OS than the non-responders.

BackgroundHelicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is the main cause of chronic gastritis and duodenal ulcer in children. Little is known about the effect of H. pylori on gastric microbiota in children with duodenal ulcer. This study is aimed at the characteristics of gastric microbiota in children with duodenal ulcer on H. pylori infection.MethodsWe studied 23 children diagnosed with duodenal ulcer by gastric endoscopy because of the gastrointestinal symptoms, 15 children were diagnosed with H. pylori infection, while 8 children were without H. pylori infection. Endoscopic mucosal biopsy samples were obtained for DNA extraction. Microbiomes were analyzed by 16S rRNA profiling and microbial functions were predicted using the software Phylogenetic Investigation of Communities by Reconstruction of Unobserved States (PICRUSt).ResultsBacterial richness and diversity of gastric microbiota in duodenal ulcer with H. pylori-positive were lower than those negative. The gastric microbiota in H. pylori-positive group significantly reduced proportions of six phyla and fifteen genera; only Helicobacter taxa were more abundant in H. pylori-positive group. Co-expression network analysis showed a more complex network of interactions in the H. pylori-positive group than that in the H. pylori-negative group. For the predicted functions, lower abundance in the pathways of carbohydrate metabolism, signal transduction, amino acid metabolism, and lipid metabolism were found in H. pylori-positive group than the H. pylori-negative group. H. pylori colonization reduces a microbial community with genotoxic potential in the gastric mucosa of children with duodenal ulcer.ConclusionsThe presence of H. pylori significantly influences gastric microbiota and results in a lower abundance of multiple taxonomic levels in children with duodenal ulcer. Children with duodenal ulcer exhibit a dysbiotic microbial community with genotoxic potential, which is distinct from that of children with H. pylori infection.Clinical Trial Registration[http://www.chictr.org.cn], identifier [ChiCTR1800015190].

ObjectiveWe evaluated and compared the efficacy and safety of neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (NACRT) versus neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) for locally advanced gastric cancer (LAGC) in a single-center randomized phase II trial.MethodsPatients with LAGC were enrolled and received either NACT or NACRT, followed by gastrectomy and adjuvant chemotherapy. The primary endpoint was an R0 resection rate.ResultsWe enrolled 75 patients: 75.7% (NACT, 28/37 patients) and 76.3% (NACRT, 29/38 patients) underwent surgery; R0 resection rates were 73.0% (27/37) and 73.7% (28/38), respectively. The NACRT group had significantly better major pathological response than the NACT group (37.9% vs 17.9%, p = 0.019). Between-group postoperative complications were not significantly different. The median follow-up was 59.6 months; 5-year overall survival (OS) rate was 50.1% (NACT) and 61.9% (NACRT); neither group reached the median OS; median progression-free survival was 37.3 and 63.4 months, respectively.ConclusionsS-1-based NACRT did not improve the R0 resection rate, although it presented better tumor regression with similar safety to NACT.Trial registrationClinicalTrial.gov NCT02301481

Abstract To explore the genetic and clinical features of a rare t(1;12)(q21;p13) in a patient with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). A 53‐year‐old male was diagnosed as high‐risk MDS, and died in a short period. A complete cytogenetic analysis of bone marrow by conventional G‐banding karyotyping was performed at the time of initial evaluation. On the basis of chromosome karyotype, interphase and metaphase fluorescence in‐situ hybridization (FISH) were carried out to further confirm the abnormal karyotypes. Reverse‐transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT‐PCR) was performed to determine ETV6/ARNT fusion gene status. G‐banding revealed karyotype 47, XY, +8, der(12) t(1;12)(q21;p13). FISH with the centromere 8 probe verified the trisomy 8, and the ETV 6 break‐apart probe suggested heterozygous loss of ETV6 allele located in short arm of chromosome 12. Subsequently, the painting probe of whole chromosome 12 further confirmed the part break of short arm of chromosome 12, and the 1q21/1p36 probe yielded three signals of 1q21 and two signals of 1p36. The results of FISH were in accordance with the karyotype completely. No ETV6/ARNT fusion gene was detected by PCR. T(1;12)(q21;p13) is a rare abnormal karyotype, and the limited reports cannot supply definite clinical significance. Rapid deterioration of our case suggests this translocation of chromosome might have a poor effect on the survival of MDS.

Adenosarcoma is a rare type of tumor with a mixture of epithelial and stromal components and often occurs in the female reproductive system. Primary hepatic adenosarcoma (PHAS) is extremely rare, with only two cases reported so far. Both patients had poor outcomes. Here, we report the case of a 36-year-old man with pain under the xiphoid process who was diagnosed with a bile duct tumor. He was treated with adjuvant radiotherapy when surgery was performed on him. Pathologically, the tumor contained benign epithelial tissue, and the submucosa of the bile duct in the liver showed infiltrating growth of spindle cell components. The cells were dense, mildly heterotypic, and occasionally mitotic, and the patient was diagnosed with PHAS. Whole-exome sequencing results showed that a total of 12 mutations were shared by the two tissues. The patient received adjuvant radiotherapy and he was tumor-free until 31 months postoperatively. This case will provide some references of the disease to other researchers.

Summary: Artificial Intelligence (AI) has achieved state-of-the-art performance in medical imaging. However, most algorithms focused exclusively on improving the accuracy of classification while neglecting the major challenges in a real-world application. The opacity of algorithms prevents users from knowing when the algorithms might fail. And the natural gap between training datasets and the in-reality data may lead to unexpected AI system malfunction. Knowing the underlying uncertainty is essential for improving system reliability. Therefore, we developed a COVID-19 AI system, utilizing a Bayesian neural network to calculate uncertainties in classification and reliability intervals of datasets. Validated with four multi-region datasets simulating different scenarios, our approach was proved to be effective to suggest the system failing possibility and give the decision power to human experts in time. Leveraging on the complementary strengths of AI and health professionals, our present method has the potential to improve the practicability of AI systems in clinical application.

Global encoding of visual features in video captioning is important for improving the description accuracy. In this paper, we propose a video captioning method that combines Vision Transformer (ViT) and reinforcement learning. Firstly, Resnet-152 and ResNeXt-101 are used to extract features from videos. Secondly, the encoding block of the ViT network is applied to encode video features. Thirdly, the encoded features are fed into a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network to generate a video content description. Finally, the accuracy of video content description is further improved by fine-tuning reinforcement learning. We conducted experiments on the benchmark dataset MSR-VTT used for video captioning. The results show that compared with the current mainstream methods, the model in this paper has improved by 2.9%, 1.4%, 0.9% and 4.8% under the four evaluation indicators of LEU-4, METEOR, ROUGE-L and CIDEr-D, respectively.

Abstract Background To assess the risk factors for blood transfusion in a great number of adolescent cases with different types of scoliosis who received scoliosis surgery. Methods Data of patients who were diagnosed as scoliosis and received one-stage posterior correction and spinal fusion from January 2014 to December 2017 were prospectively collected and retrospectively analyzed. Patients’ demographic characteristics, segments of spinal fusion, Cobb angle of the major curve,osteotomy pattern, preoperative and postoperative levels of hemoglobin, and allogeneic blood transfusion (ABT) were recorded and analyzed. Results In this study, 722 cases with adolescent scoliosis were included, of whom 32.8% (237/722) received ABT. Risk factors included diagnosis: neurofibromatosis (OR = 5.592), syndromic (OR = 3.029),osteotomy: Ponte osteotomy (OR = 5.997), hemivertebrae resection (OR = 29.171), pedicle subtraction osteotomy (PSO)(OR = 8.712), vertebral column resection (VCR)(OR = 32.265);fusion segments (OR = 1.224) and intraoperative blood loss (OR = 1.004). In the subgroup analysis of cases with idiopathic scoliosis, Ponte osteotomy (OR = 6.086), length of segments of spinal fusion (OR = 1.293), and intraoperative blood loss (OR = 1.001) were found as risk factors for ABT. Results of receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis revealed that length of segments of spinal fusion equal to 11.5 vertebrae was the best cutoff value for cases with idiopathic scoliosis who did not receive osteotomy in both ABT group and non-ABT group. In the subgroup analysis of congenital scoliosis, Ponte osteotomy (OR = 5.087), hemivertebra resection (OR = 5.457), PSO (OR = 4.055), VCR (OR = 6.940), and intraoperative blood loss (OR = 1.004) were risk factors for ABT. Conclusions Method of diagnosis, osteotomy pattern, segments of spinal fusion, and intraoperative blood loss were risk factors for ABT in cases with adolescent scoliosis. In cases with idiopathic scoliosis, Ponte osteotomy and segments of spinal fusion longer than 11.5 vertebrae were risk factors for ABT. In cases with congenital scoliosis, osteotomy pattern was the main risk factor for ABT. Level of evidence Level III.

To improve the performance of optoelectronic devices, a high performance wide angle SiO2/Ti3O5 Distributed Bragg Reflector (DBR) mirror was designed and fabricated on double polished sapphire substrate. 17-pairs gradually varied DBR structure was applied in order to acquire a broad stopband reflectivity over 95% from 400 nm to 800 nm, covering the whole visible light region. The DBR mirrors deposited at the backside of optoelectronics devices are also demonstrated to remain a high reflectivity at wide incident angles, which improves the emission efficiency of LEDs and light absorption efficiency of InGaN/GaN photoelectrochemical cell (PEC).

Motion blur is common in images captured by handheld devices, arising from hand, device and/or object motion. To restore sharp images from the images degraded by the motion, it is extremely important to assess the quality of the captured image and its corresponding blur profile as accurately as possible. In image deblurring, the perceived image quality is usually assessed by the SSIM and the PSNR metric. These methods have certain limitations and the objective image quality assessed by these methods can be contradictory to the subjectively perceived image quality. We propose a new reference image based objective blur level (BL) metric by utilizing point spread function/blur kernel analysis in this paper. In our experiments, we found our BL metric describes the perceived image quality of motion blurred images better than SSIM and PSNR in most cases. Additionally, our method performs well in low light and low texture images, where SSIM and PSNR metrics are prone to failure in describing blurriness/sharpness of the image.

Objectives Adipocytes and adipocyte lipid metabolism are closely related with obesity and type 2 diabetes, but the molecular mechanism still needs further investigation. The aim of this study is to discover the adipocyte genes and pathways involved in obesity and type 2 diabetes using bioinformatics analysis. Methods The GSE27951 gene expression profile was obtained. Software and online tools (STRING, Cytoscape, BioGPS, CTD, and FunRich) were used to identify core genes.21 human subcutaneous adipose samples, with 10 from type 2 diabetic patients and 11 from normal controls, were included in these analyses. Results 184 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) including 42 up-regulated genes and 142 down-regulated genes were found to be enriched in metabolism, receptor activity, collagen type IV and glutamine biosynthesis I pathway by using the enrichment analysis. Seven hub genes were identified from the PPI network using various software (Cytoscape, STRING, BioGPS, and CTD). Four core genes (COL4A2, ACACB, GLUL, and CD36) were found to be highly expressed in subcutaneous adipose tissue of obese patients accompanying type 2 diabetes. Conclusion COL4A2, ACACB, GLUL and CD36 might be the core molecular biomarkers of obesity in patients with or without type 2 diabetes.

Background Hypoxia-reperfusion (HR) and inflammation are causes of renal allograft injury. Pathological evidence has indicated that ischemia followed by reperfusion leads to the proteolysis and destruction of the extracellular matrix (ECM) in renal tubular epithelial cells. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), such as MMP-2 and MMP-9, play roles in cleaving and reshaping the ECM. Acute accumulation of MMP-9 secreted from neutrophils promotes the incidence of inflammation and exacerbates graft trauma. Our goal was to investigate the activities of MMP-9/MMP-2 and their correlation with HR injury and neutrophil-related inflammation in renal proximal tubular cells. Methods This model was established by placing HK-2 cells under hypoxic conditions (5% CO2, 1% O2) for 6 h and then exposing them to reperfusion (5% CO2, 21% O2) for 12 h in a tri-gas incubator. The cell culture medium was collected for culturing polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs). BB-94 (MMP-9 inhibitor) was added to the culture medium in the inhibitor group. Results Flow cytometry showed a significant increase in reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels in HK-2 cells from the HR injury group. MMP-9 expression was significantly increased and MMP-2 expression was significantly decreased in HK-2 cells from the HR group. MMP-9 and MPO expression were significantly increased in the HR group, while MPO expression was significantly decreased in the PMN inhibitor group. Conclusions The outcomes indicated that MMP-9 and MMP-2 are important components of an underlying pathophysiological mechanism of injury following HR. MMP-9 inhibition may be a potential approach to mitigateHR injury.

Abstract Background Mycobacterium tuberculosis is known to cause latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) in 25–50% of the cases, of whom 10–20% develop active tuberculosis (TB). Notably, no marker currently exists for judging the therapeutic effect of TB; it is currently judged by chest X-ray and clinical symptoms. We attempted to establish a marker for distinguishing LTBI from active TB and to identify the probability of recurrence after TB treatment, using information on circulating miRNA expression. Methods In total, 32 patients were enrolled in this study: 16 with an onset or recurrence of active TB, and 16 with LTBI showing positive interferon-gamma release assays (IGRA) test and chest X-ray. Total RNA from serum in an exosome-rich fraction was first extracted, followed by miRNA expression analysis using a next-generation sequencer, then, this data were analyzed using miRDeep2. Results Using the expression information of eight miRNAs, LTBI and TB could be diagnosed with an accuracy of 71.8% (odds ratio: 6.16, p value = 3.20e-02). Conclusions A novel method for efficiently differentiating between LTBI and active TB was established. This method appears to be promising for evaluating the therapeutic effect of TB, as it can be performed in a minimally invasive manner.

Abstract Background Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection swept through Wuhan and spread across China and overseas beginning in December 2019. To identify predictors associated with disease progression, we evaluated clinical risk factors for exacerbation of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Methods A retrospective analysis was used for PCR-confirmed COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019)-diagnosed hospitalized cases between January 19, 2020, and February 19, 2020, in Zhejiang, China. We systematically analysed the clinical characteristics of the patients and predictors of clinical deterioration. Results One hundred patients with COVID-19, with a median age of 54 years, were included. Among them, 49 patients (49%) had severe and critical disease. This paper coupled a unified passive and active microwave observation operator—namely, an enhanced, physically-based, discrete emission-scattering model—with the community land model (CLM) in a data assimilation (DA) system. By implementing the system default local ensemble transform Kalman filter (LETKF) algorithm, the Soil Moisture Active and Passive (SMAP) brightness temperature TBp (p = Horizontal or Vertical polarization) assimilations for only soil property retrieval and both soil properties and soil moisture estimates were investigated with the aid of in situ observations at the Maqu site. The results indicate improved estimates of soil properties of the topmost layer in comparison to measurements, as well as of the profile. Specifically, both assimilations of TBH lead to over a 48% reduction in root mean square errors (RMSEs) for the retrieved clay fraction from the background compared to the top layer measurements. Both assimilations of TBV reduce RMSEs by 36% for the sand fraction and by 28% for the clay fraction. However, the DA estimated soil moisture and land surface fluxes still exhibit discrepancies when compared to the measurements. The retrieved accurate soil properties alone are inadequate to improve those estimates. The discussed uncertainties (e.g., fixed PTF structures) in the CLM model structures should be mitigated.

Brittle fracture is a typical mechanical characteristic of high-strength self-compacting concrete, and the research on its toughening modification remains the highlight in the engineering field. To understand the effect of toughening materials (including polymer latex powders, rubber particles, and polyethylene fibers) on the mechanical behavior of C80 high-strength self-compacting concrete under static loading, the failure mode, mechanical strength, strain field, and crack opening displacement (COD) of prepared high-strength self-compacting concrete under compressive, splitting, and flexural loads were studied based on digital image technology (DIC). The corresponding mechanism is also discussed. The results show that the hybrid of polymer latex powders, rubber particles, and polyethylene fibers can increase the crack path and inhibit the development of macrocracks in concrete, thus turning the fracture behavior of concrete from brittle to ductile. The addition of toughening materials reduced the compressive and flexural strengths of high-strength self-compacting concrete, but it increased the splitting strength. DIC showed that the incorporation of toughening materials promoted the redistribution of strain and reduced the degree of strain concentration in high-strength self-compacting concrete. The evolution of COD in high-strength self-compacting concrete can be divided into two stages, including the linear growth stage and the plastic yield stage. The linear growth stage can be extended by incorporating toughening materials. The COD and energy absorption capacity of concrete were enhanced with the addition of toughening materials, and the best enhancement was observed with the hybrid of polymer latex powders, rubber particles, and polyethylene fibers. Overall, this research provides a reference for exploring effective technical measures to improve the toughness of high-strength self-compacting concrete.

Polypropylene undergoes permanent alterations during the processing and manufacture of cables due to shear effects, which in turn affect all of its qualities. There are currently few research papers on the modulation of material structure and many performance parameters by the shear stress field. In this study, we examined the impact of various shear levels on the structural, mechanical, and electrical properties of polypropylene, as well as their relationships. The results indicated that shear strength decreased the material’s viscosity and oxidation resistance. As shear duration increased, crystallinity began to diminish. In the meantime, the crystallinity improved as the shear temperature rose. The thermal elongations of the sheared samples were all about 5%. Short-term shearing boosted the material’s toughness, but as the degree of shear continued to increase, the material’s toughness and rigidity steadily decreased. The storage modulus of the material decreased with increasing shear, the loss peak initially increased and subsequently decreased, the peak position shifted from low to high temperature, and the loss factor was relatively small. In samples sheared for brief periods, an accumulation of space charge and an increase in its nonlinear threshold field strength were observed. With increasing shear time, the material’s space charge accumulation was repressed, the current density initially grew and then reduced, and the nonlinear threshold field strength initially fell and then increased. Under shearing, the electrical strength of the material increased by approximately 2%. In addition, the presence of an antioxidant improved all of the aforementioned features.

Purple heading Chinese cabbage has become popular in recent years due to its attractive color and health benefits. However, purple varieties remain rare, and the regulation mechanism of anthocyanin accumulation in Chinese cabbage is still largely unknown. By introducing the purple color trait from Brassica juncea, a new purple heading Chinese cabbage cultivar (18M-245) was generated with deep purple leaves at both the seedling and adult stages. Anthocyanin accumulation in 18M-245 increased when grown at low temperatures. FISH and genotyping results showed that the purple trait was caused by an alien chromosome addition line derived from the Brassica B genome. The LDOX coding gene BjuB014115 from the addition line was highly expressed in 18M-245, consistent with the results of anthocyanin accumulation. Meanwhile, several MYB and bHLH transcriptional factors from the Brassica A genome were found to directly bind to the promoter of BjuB014115, suggesting that interactions between the Brassica A and B genomes are involved in the regulatory network of anthocyanin biosynthesis in Chinese cabbage. Our results provide new insights into the regulation mechanism of anthocyanin biosynthesis in purple heading Chinese cabbage.

The reliable monitoring of the depth of anesthesia (DoA) is essential to control the anesthesia procedure. Electroencephalography (EEG) has been widely used to estimate DoA since EEG could reflect the effect of anesthetic drugs on the central nervous system (CNS). In this study, we propose that a deep learning model consisting mainly of a deep residual shrinkage network (DRSN) and a 1 × 1 convolution network could estimate DoA in terms of patient state index (PSI) values. First, we preprocessed the four raw channels of EEG signals to remove electrical noise and other physiological signals. The proposed model then takes the preprocessed EEG signals as inputs to predict PSI values. Then we extracted 14 features from the preprocessed EEG signals and implemented three conventional feature-based models as comparisons. A dataset of 18 patients was used to evaluate the models’ performances. The results of the five-fold cross-validation show that there is a relatively high similarity between the ground-truth PSI values and the predicted PSI values of our proposed model, which outperforms the conventional models, and further, that the Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient is 0.9344. In addition, an ablation experiment was conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the soft-thresholding module for EEG-signal processing, and a cross-subject validation was implemented to illustrate the robustness of the proposed method. In summary, the procedure is not merely feasible for estimating DoA by mimicking PSI values but also inspired us to develop a precise DoA-estimation system with more convincing assessments of anesthetization levels.

Dental caries, particularly secondary caries, which is the main contributor to dental repair failure, has been the subject of extensive research due to its biofilm-mediated, sugar-driven, multifactorial, and dynamic characteristics. The clinical utility of restorations is improved by cleaning bacteria nearby and remineralizing marginal crevices. In this study, a novel multifunctional dental resin composite (DRC) composed of Sr-N-co-doped titanium dioxide (Sr-N-TiO2) nanoparticles and nano-hydroxyapatite (n-HA) reinforcing fillers with improved antibacterial and mineralization properties is proposed. The experimental results showed that the anatase-phase Sr-N-TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized successfully. After this, the curing depth (CD) of the DRC was measured from 4.36 ± 0.18 mm to 5.10 ± 0.19 mm, which met the clinical treatment needs. The maximum antibacterial rate against Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) was 98.96%, showing significant inhibition effects (p < 0.0001), which was experimentally verified to be derived from reactive oxygen species (ROS). Meanwhile, the resin exhibited excellent self-remineralization behavior in an SBF solution, and the molar ratio of Ca/P was close to that of HA. Moreover, the relative growth rate (RGR) of mouse fibroblast L929 indicated a high biocompatibility, with the cytotoxicity level being 0 or I. Therefore, our research provides a suitable approach for improving the antibacterial and mineralization properties of DRCs.

This work investigates the impacts of structural parameters on the performances of p-GaN/AlGaN/GaN HEMT-based ultraviolet (UV) phototransistors (PTs) using Silvaco Atlas. The simulation results show that a larger Al content or greater thickness for the AlGaN barrier layer can induce a higher two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) density and produce a larger photocurrent. However, they may also lead to a larger dark current due to the incomplete depletion of the GaN channel layer. The depletion conditions with various Al contents and thicknesses of the AlGaN layer are investigated in detail, and a borderline between full depletion and incomplete depletion was drawn. An optimized structure with an Al content of 0.23 and a thickness of 14 nm is achieved for UV-PT, which exhibits a high photocurrent density of 92.11 mA/mm, a low dark current density of 7.68 × 10−10 mA/mm, and a large photo-to-dark-current ratio of over 1011 at a drain voltage of 5 V. In addition, the effects of other structural parameters, such as the thickness and hole concentration of the p-GaN layer as well as the thickness of the GaN channel layer, on the performances of the UV-PTs are also studied in this work.

In this paper, N, N’-m-phenylene dimaleimide (HVA-2) grafted crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation materials with different HVA-2 contents were prepared. The grafting, crosslinking, and crystalline structure were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Soxhlet extraction, and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), respectively. The space charge distribution, direct current (DC) breakdown strength, and DC conduction current density were tested and the electronic structure was calculated from first-principles. HVA-2 grafting modification can significantly reduce the accumulation of space charges and the conduction current density of XLPE, but have a negative effect on DC breakdown strength. The polar groups of the grafted HVA-2 anchored on XLPE by the grafting reaction can introduce deep traps densely and evenly in XLPE, which would capture and scatter charge carriers, thus reducing the carrier concentration and mobility and further improving the space charge distribution and reducing conduction current density. However, the grafting of HVA-2 can increase the crosslinking extent of XLPE to make the crystallinity decrease and the crystallization inhomogeous, leading to a certain decrease in the breakdown strength of the grafted XLPE.
