Abstract

Based on the generalized nonlinear Schrodinger equation and waveguiding properties typical of the photonic crystal fiber structure, nonlinear chirped-pulse propagation and supercontinua generation in the femtosecond and picosecond regimes are investigated numerically. The simulation results indicate that an input chirp parameter mainly affects the initial stage of spectral broadening caused by the self-phase modulation (SPM) effect. In the femtosecond regime where the SPM effect plays an important role in the process of spectral broadening, an input positive chirp can enhance the supercontinuum bandwidth through a modified pulse compression phase and a decreased propagation distance required by soliton fission. In the picosecond regime, where the SPM effect contributes less to the continuum bandwidth and four-wave mixing process or modulational instability dominates the initial stage of spectral and temporal evolution, the output spectral shape and bandwidths are less sensitive to the input chirp parameters. Abstract

Traditional electrochemically prepared lead dioxide (e‐PbO2) is one of the most used electrode materials for electrochemical ozone production (EOP), because of its high catalytic activity, excellent electrical conductivity, relative stability and low cost. But the electrochemically prepared conditions are complicated and harsh. Bulk PbO2 electrodes have the very limited surface area and are inconvenient to process into the fine film electrodes for a PEM electrolyser. In contrast, chemical synthesis is easy to prepare uniform PbO2 catalysts with high surface area and catalytic activity. Here, a facile one‐pot approach to prepare a highly active PbO2 microsphere catalyst was established and used for the EOP reaction in a PEM ozone generator. Sodium hydroxide could be used to regulate the relative content of α/β allotropic phase and crystallite size of PbO2 microspheres. Experiment results revealed that high β phase content and large β‐PbO2 crystallite size were beneficial to the high EOP activity. By optimizing the composition and crystal structure, chemically prepared PbO2 could have much better EOP performance than e‐PbO2. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

In order to ensure that the representative car can guarantee the quality of the perceived information while minimizing the total cost of the perceived task in the group intelligence perception information of common perceptual road conditions. In view of the above problems, this paper proposes a combination of greedy algorithm and genetic algorithm to compare the vehicle selection method generally used to solve the knapsack problem. There are many improvements in the overall data reliability of the representative car. The experimental results show that the overall data reliability of representative vehicles has been greatly improved, the total task processing time is reduced and the average perception data reliability of representative vehicles is improved.

Abstract

Introduction: Some HIV-infected men who have sex with men also have sex with women. Additionally, some women do not know that they are or have been in a sexual relationship with a bisexual man. Knowledge of their male partner's risks for HIV infection is crucial if reductions in HIV/AIDS are to occur among women. Methods: We examined AIDS diagnosed cases reported to CDC from the 50 states and the District of Columbia, 2000 through 2004, in women aged 13 years and older. Cases were analyzed by transmission category, race/ethnicity, age at diagnosis, and geographic region, and data were adjusted for missing risk factor information and reporting delays. Results: From 2000 through 2004, an estimated 1,576 women (from a total of 35,376 women reported with HIV from heterosexual contact and diagnosed with AIDS) reported sexual contact with a bisexual man (BSXM) as their primary risk factor for HIV infection. Non-Hispanic blacks accounted for the majority (62.8%) of cases, followed by non-Hispanic whites (20.5%) and Hispanics (14.8%). The average AIDS rate attributed to sex with a BSXM differed significantly by race/ethnicity (p < 0.01), with the rate for non-Hispanic black women 13 times the rate for non-Hispanic whites and 4 times the rate for Hispanics. Sexual contact with a BSXM accounted for 6.3% of AIDS cases among non-Hispanic white women with heterosexually acquired HIV compared to 4.4% among Hispanics and 4.0% among non-Hispanic blacks. Conclusions: The proportion of AIDS cases among women attributed to sex with a BSXM was similar across races/ethnicities: however, rates were highest among non-Hispanic black women. Because some women were unaware of their male partner's risk for HIV infection, the number of women with AIDS who had a bisexual partner was probably underreported.
