202. (1 + 1) resonant enhanced multiphoton ionization via the A2Sigma(+) state of NO - Ionic rotational branching ratios and their intensity dependence

Abstract

Rotational branching ratios resulting from the (1 + 1) resonant enhanced multiphoton ionization spectroscopy of NO via the 0-0 transition of the A-X band for the four possible branches that can be assigned as R(21.5) are explored using calculation performed in the frozen-core approximation at the Hartree-Fock level. The four different branches, of which three are distinctly different in the perturbative limit, have rather different branching ratios. The mixed R12 + Q22(21.5) branch, which is not intense and has the lowest transition energy, appears to give the best agreement with experimental branching ratio for parallel detection. The agreement is less satisfactory for perpendicular detection. Neither the effect of finite-acceptance angle of the photoelectron detector nor high intensities can explain the discrepancy.

Abstract

Results are presented for the rotationally resolved photoelectron spectra resulting from a (2 + 1) one-color resonant enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) of NO via the rotationally clean S21(11.5) and mixed S11(15.5) + R21(15.5) branches of the 0-0 transition in the D-X band. The calculations were done in the fixed-nuclei frozen core approximation. The resulting photoionization spectra, convoluted with a Lorentzian detection function, agree qualitatively with experimental results of Viswanathan et al. (1986) and support their conclusion that the nonspherical nature of the molecular potential creates a substantial l-mixing in the continuum, which in turn leads to the intense Delta N = 0 peak. The rather strong photoelectron energy dependence of the rotational branching ratios of the D 2Sigma(+) S21(11.5) line was investigated and compared to the weak energy dependence of the A 2Sigma(+) R22(21.5) line.

Abstract

Elastic differential and momentum transfer cross sections for the elastic scattering of electrons by H2O are reported for collision energies from 2 to 20 eV. These fixed-nuclei static-exchange cross sections were obtained using the Schwinger variational approach. In these studies the exchange potential is directly evaluated and not approximated by local models. The calculated differential cross sections, obtained with a basis set expansion of the scattering wave function, agree well with available experimental data at intermediate and larger angles. As used here, the results cannot adequately describe the divergent cross sections at small angles. An interesting feature of the calculated cross sections, particularly at 15 and 20 eV, is their significant backward peaking. This peaking occurs in the experimentally inaccessible region beyond a scattering angle of 120 deg. The implication of this feature for the determination of momentum transfer cross sections is described.

Abstract

In this and the two accompanying letters, the results of calculations of the cross sections for electron impact excitation of the b 3Sigma(+)u state of H2, for collision energies from near threshold to 30 eV, are presented. These results are obtained using a multichannel extension of the Schwinger variational principle at the two-state level. The quantitative agreement between the integral cross sections of these three studies is very good. Inclusion of correlation terms in the scattering wavefunctions, which relax the orthogonality between bound and continuum orbitals, is seen to affect the cross sections substantially. Although a comparison of these calculated cross sections with available experimental data is encouraging, some seious discrepancies exist.

Abstract

Ab initio calculation of vibrational excitation and deexcitation cross sections of N2 by low energy resonant electron impact have been carried out. The calculation includes initial target state in v = 0-12 and final target state in v = 0-17. The calculated cross sections are found to agree with available experimental data to within reported experimental error. Effect of target rotation has been investigated. Comparison of vibrational excitation cross sections at J = 0, 50, and 150 shows that the major effect of target rotation is to lower the resonance energy. Vibrational excitation and deexcitation rate coefficients are tabulated for electron temperatures of 1100-55,000 K. The present tabulation supercedes an earlier compilation by the Naval Research Laboratory that was derived from experimental data with a factor-of-two error. The tabulated rate coefficients are suited for flowfield modeling of aeroassisted orbital transfer vehicles.

Abstract

The first application of the Schwinger multichannel formulation to low-energy electron collisions with a nonlinear polyatomic target is reported. Integral and differential cross sections are obtained for e-CH4 collisions from 3 to 20 eV at the static-plus-exchange interaction level. In these studies, the exchange potential is directly evaluated and not approximated by local models. An interesting feature of the small-angle differential cross section is ascribed to polarization effects and not reproduced at the static-plus-exchange level. These differential cross sections are found to be in reasonable agreement with existing measurements at 7.5 eV and higher energies.

Abstract

The solution of the time-dependent Schroedinger equation of the molecule + radiation field system is analyzed. A quantized radiation field is used. The relationship between the oscillatory wave function and the dressed state wave function is established, the oscillatory wave function being the solution if the radiation field is turned on at t = 0 and the dressed state being the stationary solution satisfying the boundary condition only if the field is present at t = negative infinity. In general, the oscillatory wave function can be expressed using a complete set of dressed states. However, in the presence of a nonresonant radiation field, the system is well represented by a single dressed state. Molecular properties such as dynamic polarizabilities and two-photon transition moments can be deduced from the dressed state wave function instead of the oscillatory wave function as in previous methods. Because of its stationary character, the dressed state is more amenable to approximate calculations. A CI method is developed for this purpose. The CI matrix is simple in form and can be readily constructed using existing computer codes. The present method can also be adapted to calculate other optical properties.

Abstract

Wollastonite glass-ceramic was prepared by using a sintering method. The chemical compositions were in the wollastonite crystallisation primary field of the Na2O-CaO-SiO2 system. Effects of heat treatment conditions on phase transformation and microstructure evolution of wollastonite glass-ceramic in Na2O-CaO-SiO2 system were investigated using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The results showed that the plate-like devitrite (Na2Ca3Si6O16) crystals were firstly precipitated from the parent glass after heat treatment at 950°C and long strip shape wollastonite (α-CaSiO3) crystals appeared in the clearance of Na2Ca3Si6O16 at 1000°C. When the heat treatment temperature increased to 1050°C, the Na2Ca3Si6O16 peak disappeared and α-CaSiO3 became the single phase. Furthermore, the complete phase transformation from α-CaSiO3 to pseudowollastonite (β-CaSiO3) occurred at 1200°C. Concentrated solid solution alloys (CSAs) have attracted attention for their promising properties; however, current manufacturing methods face challenges in complexity, high costs, and limited scalability, raising concerns about industrial viability. The prevalent technique, arc melting, yields high-purity samples with complex shapes. In this study, we explore nanoindentation tests at room temperature where arc-melted samples exhibit larger grain sizes, diminishing the effects of grain boundaries on the results. Motivated by these findings, our investigation focuses on the atomistic-level exploration of plasticity mechanisms, specifically dislocation nucleation and propagation during nanoindentation tests. The intricate chemistry of NiFeCrCo CSA influences pile-ups and slip traces, aiming to elucidate plastic deformation by considering both pristine and pre-existing stacking fault tetrahedra. Our analysis scrutinizes dynamic deformation processes, defect nucleation, and evolution, complemented by stress–strain and dislocation densities–strain curves illustrating the hardening mechanism of defective materials. Additionally, we examine surface morphology and plastic deformation through atomic shear strain and displacement mappings. This integrated approach provides insights into the complex interplay between the material structure and mechanical behavior, paving the way for an enhanced understanding and potential advancements in CSA applications. Abstract

As soon as the energies of electrons near the Fermi surface exceed Q, the threshold energy of inverse β-decay, electron capture (EC) dominates inside a neutron star. The high-energy neutrons released by EC will destroy anisotropic P neutron Cooper pairs in the degenerate superfluid. By colliding with the neutrons produced in the process n+( n↑ n↓)→ n+ n+ n, the kinetic energies of the neutrons released by EC will be transformed into thermal energy. A portion of this thermal energy will be transported from the star interior to the star surface by conduction, then converted to a thermal spectrum of soft X-rays and γ-rays. By introducing two important parameters: the Landau level-superfluid modified factor and the overal soft X/ γ-ray efficiency coefficient, we compute the theoretical luminosity L of a magnetar under our model and plot a diagram of L as a function of magnetic field strength B. There have been anecdotal reports that local hyperthermia was effective in the treatment of viral warts. We conducted a randomized, patient-blinded, placebo-controlled trial to test the effect of local hyperthermia (44 degrees C for 30 min a day for 3 consecutive days plus 2 additional days 2 weeks later) on plantar warts. By the end of 3 months, 53.57% of patients (15/28) in the treatment group and 11.54% of patients (3/26) in the control group were cured ([Formula: see text]). Abstract

Introduction: Urological complications after kidney transplantation may lead to graft loss. In this study, we retrospectively reviewed urological complications in 1,223 kidney transplantations that were performed at our institution. Materials and Methods: The occurrence of urological complications such as urine leakage, ureteral obstruction and vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) according to the different way of urinary tract reconstruction, ureteroneocystostomy (U-C) and ureteroureterostomy (U-U), was studied. Results: Urological complications were encountered in 92 (7.5%) cases, including urine leakage (n = 43, 3.5%), ureteral obstruction (n = 35, 2.9%) and VUR (n = 14, 1.1%). 75 cases (7.9%) were in the U-C group and 17 cases (6.2%) in the U-U group. 91 recipients were successfully treated, and 1 patient lost the graft due to kidney pelvis and ureteral necrosis. There was no recipient loss due to these complications. For recipients with urological complications, the 1- and 3-year survival rates were 90 and 88% for recipients and 87 and 82% for grafts, respectively. Conclusions: After U-U, the same number of overall incidences of urological complications is observed as after U-C; however, a decrease in the number of incidences of urine leakage is apparent. Abstract

The rf self-bias on the substrate in a rf inductively coupled plasma is controlled by varying the impedance of an external tuning inductor and capacitor network inserted between the substrate and the ground. In term of variations of tuned substrate self-bias (Vtsb) with tuning capacitance (Ct), three characteristic regions, namely continuous, instable, and bistable regions are found, corresponding to low, moderate, and high discharge power at a constant gas pressure, respectively. A novel self-oscillation observed in the instable region occurs only within a limited domain of Ct. With the increment in Ct, the self-oscillation frequency increases while its amplitude decreases. Near the boundary of the instable and bistable regions, the self-oscillations shift downward and upward at lower and higher Ct, respectively. Abstract

A bimetallic structure combines the properties of two constituent materials and has a high comprehensive performance. Selective laser melting has been widely studied for its advantages such as high utilization of raw materials, short processing cycles, and the ability to form complex structures. The 316 L‐CuCrZr bimetallic structure was successfully prepared using selective laser melting. Its microstructural analysis and energy spectrum analysis indicated that the 316 L stainless steel and the CuCrZr alloy formed a good interfacial bond and that the elements at the interface exhibited a gradient distribution. The tensile strength of 316 L‐CuCrZr was 280.97 MPa, which was close to the strength of the CuCrZr alloy. The interface hardness showed a decreasing trend from that of the stainless steel to that of the copper alloy, which indicated that the interface between the 316 L stainless steel and the CuCrZr alloy was well bonded. A novel compressed sensing imaging algorithm for high-squint Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) based on a Nonlinear Chirp-Scaling (NCS) operator is proposed. First, the echo signal of high-squint SAR is analyzed, and a novel imaging method based on the Nyquist-sampled echo signal is proposed. With the proposed method, the range migration is corrected and the coupling problem in the range and azimuth directions is solved. Then, to solve the problem of high-squint SAR imaging using undersampled echo signals, the NCS operator and compressed sensing algorithm based on this operator are constructed. Imaging results are obtained by solving an optimization problem. The proposed method can recover a sparse scene using undersampled echo data. Furthermore, it can recover a nonsparse scene using fully sampled data. Finally, simulations show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract

Recent high resolution photoelectron spectroscopic studies of the (1+1) resonant enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) of NO via the 0–0 transition of the A–X band (γ band) have shown a pronounced ΔN=0 signal (ΔN≡N_+−N_i) and smaller, but measurable, ΔN=±2 peaks. The authors [K. S. Viswanathan et al., J. Phys. Chem. 90, 5078 (1986)] assign the excitation to be via an R(21.5) line, with no further specification. We have performed ab initio calculations of the rotational branching ratios for the four possible ‘‘R(21.5)’’ transitions, namely, the rotationally ‘‘clean’’ R_(21) and R_(22), and the ‘‘mixed’’ R_(12)+Q_(22) and R_(11)+Q_(21) branches. We find the mixed R_(12)+Q_(22)(21.5) branch to agree best with the observed photoelectron spectrum collected parallel to the polarization vector of the light. The discrepancy is larger for detection perpendicular to the polarization. To understand this difference, we have assessed the influence of laser intensity and polarization ‘‘contamination’’ on the branching ratios and photoelectron angular distributions.

We used a multichannel extension of the Schwinger variational principle [K. Takatsuka and V. McKoy, Phys. Rev. A 24, 2473 (1981)] to study the cross sections for excitation of the X 1 Σg+→b 3Σu+, a 3Σg+, and c3Πu transitions in H2 by low-energy electrons. These cross sections were obtained with two open channels for each transition and for energies near threshold to 30 eV. The results for the b3Σu+ and a 3Σg+ states agree quite well with available experimental data. However, the cross sections for excitation of the c 3Πu state differ significantly from the measured values at the two energies, 20 and 30 eV, where data are available.

Abstract

Recent high resolution photoelectron spectroscopic studies of the (1+1) resonant enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) of Nitrogen Oxide via the 0-0 transition of the A-X band (gamma band) have shown a pronounced delta N=O signal (delta N=N+-Ni) and smaller, but measurable, delta N= + or - 2 peaks. The authors K. S. Viswanathan et al., J. Phys. Chem., 90, 5078 (1986) assign the excitation to be via an R(21.5) line, with no further specification. We have performed ab initio calculations of the rotational branching ratios for the four possible R(21.5) transitions, namely, the rotationally clean R21 and R22, and the mixed R12+Q22 and R11+Q21 branches. We find the mixed R12+Q22 (21.5) branch to agree best with the observed photoelectron spectrum collected parallel to the polarization vector of the light. The discrepancy is larger for detection perpendicular to the polarization. To understand this difference, we have assessed the influence of laser intensity and polarization contamination on the branching ratios and photoelectron angular distributions. 249. Internationalization of China’s E-Commerce Higher Education: A Review between 2001 and 2019

Abstract

The purpose of this chapter is to review the development of China’s higher education in electronic commerce (e-commerce) and explore the requirements of the internationalization of China’s e-commerce higher education. The Benefit-Driving Model (BDM) was adopted to explain the reasons for the internationalization of China’s e-commerce higher education. The literature review spans 20 years from 2001 when the first 13 e-commerce programs were offered from China’s 597 universities. By 2019, 328 e-commerce programs were offered by 831 universities. There is a sustainable growth from 2001 (2.17%, 13 of 597) to 2019 (39.47%, 328 of 831). Currently, six universities offer two e-commerce programs with different majors. Eight universities established specialized e-commerce schools. There are also six jointly founded or cooperative e-commerce programs run in China with overseas universities. This research may be valuable for any international organization interested in collaboration with China’s e-commerce higher education. A limitation is that this research focuses only on bachelors of e-commerce programs. Further research will explore factors for success in jointly founded e-commerce programs with China’s e-commerce educators.
