The authors present the outcomes of an educational experimentation that took place in the academic year 2018-2019 at the degree course in Informatica Umanistica at the University of Pisa. The first objective of the project concerned the digitization of a corpus of postcards from the period of the First World War owned by the ethnographic Museum of La Spezia “G. Podenzana”. The aims of the work are not only the historical study of the corpus, but also the organization of a public history project with the Museum., Gli autori presentano i risultati di una sperimentazione didattica svolta durante l’anno accademico 2018-2019 presso il Corso di Laurea in Informatica Umanistica dell’Università di Pisa. Gli obiettivi del lavoro non sono solo lo studio storico del corpus, ma anche l’organizzazione di un progetto di Public History con il Museo.

Over the last decade, the advent of the cluster ensemble framework has enabled more accurate and robust data analysis than traditional single clustering algorithms. The improved clustering of microarray data has had a particularly strong impact in the fields of genomics and medicine. However, when we bring several ensemble members together to form a consensus, low-quality data partitions can seriously compromise the final solution. One way to overcome this problem is the weighted cluster ensemble approach based on Partition Relevance Analysis (PRA), which uses internal cluster validity indices to evaluate and weight the ensemble members before the fusion. Unfortunately, the selection of appropriate validation indices for given data is far from trivial. In this paper, we propose an additional step in PRA that reduces the size of the committee of cluster validation indices. It does so by eliminating redundant and noisy indices using data dimensionality reduction methods. Our extension works in an unsupervised way, minimizing the amount of user intervention and required expert knowledge. We adapted three conventional consensus functions based on the principle of evidence accumulation to work with PRA weights. We demonstrate the advantages of the proposed reduction step of PRA based on extensive experiments with 25 gene expression and 15 non-genetic real-world datasets, where we compared 15 consensus functions. La Comision de Derecho Internacional (CDI) es un organismo creado por la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas en 1947 con el objetivo de codificar y promocionar el Derecho internacional. Su trabajo ha sido fundamental en la adopcion de diversos tratados u otros instrumentos internacionales, como la Convencion de Viena sobre el Derecho de los Tratados o la Corte Penal Internacional, sobre la que emitio una primera propuesta ya en 1949. The purpose of this paper is to present some of the results of a broader survey of current geography curricula at primary and secondary levels of education in Slovenia. The primary aim of the study was to find out what kind of curricula for geography lessons teachers of geography and others interested in geography would like to see at different levels of education. The study consisted of two parts: in the first part, we took an analytical view of the primary school curriculum in geography, and in the second part, which is provided in this paper, we focused on the secondary educational level, looking at both gymnasiums and secondary vocational and technical education. We present the opinions of the survey respondents on the basic conceptual orientation of the geography curricula in gymnasiums and in secondary vocational and technical schools, their elementary structure and scope, and the respondents' reflections on the comprehensiveness, usefulness and suitability of individual curriculum elements for teaching geography. // Namen prispevka je predstaviti del rezultatov širše raziskave o dosedanjih geografskih učnih načrtih na primarni in sekundarni ravni izobraževanja v Sloveniji. Temeljni cilj raziskave je bil ugotoviti, kakšne učne načrte za pouk geografije si želijo učitelji geografije in druga zainteresirana geografska javnost na različnih vzgojno-izobraževalnih ravneh. Raziskava je bila dvodelna; v prvem delu smo osvetlili analitični pogled na osnovnošolski učni načrt za geografijo, v drugem delu, ki ga podajamo v tem prispevku, pa smo se osredotočili na srednješolsko vzgojno-izobraževalno raven, in sicer tako na gimnazijsko kot na srednje strokovno in poklicno-tehniško izobraževanje. Predstavljamo mnenje anketiranih o osnovni konceptualni usmeritvi učnega načrta za geografijo v gimnaziji ter kataloga znanja za geografijo v srednjem strokovnem in poklicno-tehniškem izobraževanju, o njuni elementarni strukturi in obsegu ter razmišljanja anketiranih o vključenosti, uporabnosti in ustreznosti posameznih elementov učnega načrta oziroma kataloga znanja za pouk geografije.

Significance The investigation of protein-based materials has provided a better understanding of living systems and has led to the development of ubiquitous modern technologies. Within this context, unique cephalopod proteins called reflectins have exhibited promise for biophotonics and bioelectronics applications, but the exploration of reflectins as materials has been hindered by an incomplete understanding of their structures and properties. Here, we resolve the molecular-level structure of a model reflectin variant, establish a straightforward approach to controlling the assembly of this protein, and describe a correlation between its structural characteristics and light-manipulating properties. Taken together, our findings advance current understanding of reflectin-based materials, provide insight into the color-changing capabilities of cephalopods, and afford new opportunities in biochemistry, cellular biology, bioengineering, and optics., Naturally occurring and recombinant protein-based materials are frequently employed for the study of fundamental biological processes and are often leveraged for applications in areas as diverse as electronics, optics, bioengineering, medicine, and even fashion. Within this context, unique structural proteins known as reflectins have recently attracted substantial attention due to their key roles in the fascinating color-changing capabilities of cephalopods and their technological potential as biophotonic and bioelectronic materials. However, progress toward understanding reflectins has been hindered by their atypical aromatic and charged residue-enriched sequences, extreme sensitivities to subtle changes in environmental conditions, and well-known propensities for aggregation. Herein, we elucidate the structure of a reflectin variant at the molecular level, demonstrate a straightforward mechanical agitation-based methodology for controlling this variant’s hierarchical assembly, and establish a direct correlation between the protein’s structural characteristics and intrinsic optical properties. Altogether, our findings address multiple challenges associated with the development of reflectins as materials, furnish molecular-level insight into the mechanistic underpinnings of cephalopod skin cells’ color-changing functionalities, and may inform new research directions across biochemistry, cellular biology, bioengineering, and optics.
