We investigated injuries of the optic radiations (ORs) in patients with mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) by using diffusion tensor tractography (DTT).

Despite their advantageous attributes, such as a narrow bandgap and reduced toxicity, tin–lead halide perovskites (TLHPs) have received limited attention due to their lower power conversion efficiency (PCE) relative to lead‐only variants. In this study, a transformative approach is introduced that leverages perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) to optimize TLHP solar cells. While conventional oleyl‐capped PQDs enhance the open circuit voltage (VOC), the long‐chain ligands hinder charge transport. To overcome this limitation, a post‐treatment with isopropyl alcohol effectively dissociates these ligands and PQD crystals, resulting in reduced defect density, improved charge transfer, and elevated quasi‐Fermi level splitting in the TLHP device. Consequently, the PCE of the device is notably increased from 19.0% to 23.74% and elevated the VOC from 0.78 to 0.87 V, without compromising the photocurrent or fill factor. The findings highlight PQD modification as a compelling avenue for TLHP solar cell enhancement, particularly in boosting VOC. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: This study investigated the association between sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) and the risk of cardio‐cerebrovascular disease (CCVD) among older adults in South Korea. Methods: Data from 38,426 patients in the Korean National Health Insurance Service‐Senior Cohort from 2002 to 2019 were collected. The risk of CCVD includes both stroke and acute myocardial infarction. Propensity score matching (1:1) was used to identify pairs of individuals with and without SSNHL (n = 19,213 for cases and controls). Cox proportional hazards regression models were used to analyze the associations between variables. Results: Patients with SSNHL had a higher risk of CCVD (hazard ratio [HR] = 1.17, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.11–1.24) compared to those without. The risk of CCVD was higher among those who experienced a stroke than those who did not (HR = 1.17 95% CI = 1.10–1.25). Compared to their matched controls, patients with SSNHL were 1.69 times (HR = 1.69 CI = 1.46–1.94) more likely to have CCVD during the first 12 months of the follow‐up period. Conclusion: Older patients with SSNHL are at an increased risk of CCVD. Hence, a more attentive approach featuring aggressive monitoring of patients with SSNHL is required to lessen their risk of CCVD. The availability of carbon nanotube (CNT)-based polymer composites allows the development of surface-attached self-sensing crack sensors for the structural health monitoring of reinforced concrete (RC) structures. These sensors are fabricated by integrating CNTs as conductive fillers into polymer matrices such as polyurethane (PU) and can be applied by coating on RC structures before the composite hardens. The principle of crack detection is based on the electrical change characteristics of the CNT-based polymer composites when subjected to a tensile load. In this study, the electrical conductivity and electro-mechanical/environmental characterization of smart skin fabricated with various CNT concentrations were investigated. This was performed to derive the tensile strain sensitivity of the smart skin according to different CNT contents and to verify their environmental impact. The optimal CNT concentration for the crack detection sensor was determined to be 5 wt% CNT. The smart skin was applied to an RC structure to validate its effectiveness as a crack detection sensor. It successfully detected and monitored crack formation and growth in the structure. During repeated cycles of crack width variations, the smart skin also demonstrated excellent reproducibility and electrical stability in response to the progressive occurrence of cracks, thereby reinforcing the reliability of the crack detection sensor. Overall, the presented results describe the crack detection characteristics of smart skin and demonstrate its potential as a structural health monitoring (SHM) sensor. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
