213. Estimation of bipolar jets from accretion discs around Kerr black holes

Abstract

We analyse flows around a rotating black hole and obtain self-consistent accretion-ejection solutions in full general relativistic prescription. Entire energy-angular momentum parameter space is investigated in the advective regime to obtain shocked and shock-free accretion solutions. Jet equations of motion are solved along the von-Zeipel surfaces computed from the post-shock disc, simultaneously with the equations of accretion disc along the equatorial plane. For a given spin parameter, the mass outflow rate increases as the shock moves closer to the black hole, but eventually decreases, maximizing at some intermediate value of shock location. Interestingly, we obtain all types of possible jet solutions, for example, steady shock solution with multiple critical points, bound solution with two critical points and smooth solution with single critical point. Multiple critical points may exist in jet solution for spin parameter $a_s\ge 0.5$. The jet terminal speed generally increases if the accretion shock forms closer to the horizon and is higher for corotating black hole than the counter-rotating and the non-rotating one. Quantitatively speaking, shocks in jet may form for spin parameter $a_s>0.6$ and jet shocks range between $6r_g$ and $130r_g$ above the equatorial plane, while the jet terminal speed $v_{{\rm j}\infty} > 0.35{\cm}$ if Bernoulli parameter ${\cal E}\geq1.01$ for $a_s>0.99$., Comment: 22 pages, 14 figures; Accepted on May 4, 2017, for publication in MNRAS. Abstract

We show that the property of a standard graded algebra R being Cohen-Macaulay is characterized by the existence of a pure Cohen-Macaulay R-module corresponding to any degree sequence of length at most depth(R). We also give a relation in terms of graded Betti numbers, called the Herzog-Kuhl equations, for a pure R-module M to satisfy the condition dim(R) - depth(R) = dim(M) - depth(M). 215. Folliculotropic mycosis fungoides with leukaemic involvement in middle childhood: a rare encounter.

Abstract

Mycosis fungoides (MF) is the most common type of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma in adults. However, it is rare in middle childhood. Such cases usually present with hypopigmented patches that may mimic common childhood dermatoses, thereby causing a delay in the diagnosis. Sezary syndrome is a rare and aggressive leukaemic variant of cutaneous lymphoma. We report a patient in middle childhood who presented with recurring non-specific folliculotropic manifestations. The final diagnosis of MF was arrived at after excluding all other possible dermatoses. Within a few months of skin manifestations, our index child was found to have blood involvement with similar clonal T-lymphoid cells. Such rapid development of Sezary syndrome within months of cutaneous presentation has never been described. There are no established treatment guidelines for the same in paediatric population. The patient underwent a matched sibling allogeneic transplant after a course of topical steroids and skin electron beam therapy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Nowadays, digital technologies are being used to transform the agriculture sector into a more effective and environmentally friendly one by including technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI). These techniques are used to improve sustainability through more productive farming practices. Internet of Things is one of the most revolutionary techniques to provide improved agricultural services by efficiently managing and analyzing related processes. Traditional methods of a few agricultural services cannot satisfy the intricate needs of a growing population. Hence, a combination of multiple services or service composition is needed to meet user demand. This study addresses this problem by considering various agricultural services and integrating them into a composite service. The proposed work is divided into two phases. To ascertain the non-linear relationship between the cost and time of different services, Lagrange's interpolation model has been employed in the first phase. Subsequently, in the second phase, the Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II), a multi-objective evolutionary algorithm, has been utilized to optimize the time and cost of services. The efficacy of the work has been evaluated by analyzing the results of the proposed method using the same multi-objective evolutionary technique, which has a linear relationship between the cost and time of various services.
