To control the spread of COVID-19 transmission, Indonesia government has broadcasted information about the pandemic. The aim of this study is to evaluate the understanding of young people, about COVID-19 during the early outbreak in Indonesia. An online-based cross-sectional data collection was conducted from adolescents aged 10 to 25 years, based on 10 questions regarding general COVID-19 information. There were 355 subjects from 25 out of 34 Indonesian provinces who participated in the study, with mean age of 19.93 ± 2.91 years. Better understanding was found in the female and higher-income population. Largely, the subjects got the information from social media, instead of the official government site for COVID-19. Lack of understanding about crucial preventive measures was found, such as handwashing and physical distancing. In conclusion, the participants have an overall moderate-good initial understanding toward COVID-19 during the early outbreak in Indonesia. Vascular events are the most common clinical complication of essential thrombocythemia, leading to sign and symptoms of this disease. There are various sign and symptoms of essential thrombocythemia, such as thrombosis in artery or vein, and enlarged spleen. Portal hypertension and hepatic cirrhosis could be caused by essential thrombocythemia via intrahepatic thrombus. Anemia in essential thrombocythemia patient treated with hydroxyurea could be the side effect of bone marrow supression and also hydroxyurea induced hemolytic anemia. Association betweeen autoimmune hemolytic anemia and primary biliary cirrhosis or hepatic cirrhosis has been discussed. This case report presented an patient diagnosed with essential thrombocythemia. He later developed hepatic cirrhosis possibly caused by intra hepatic thrombus in the setting of hypercoagulabuility in myeloproliverative disorders. He also sufferred from anemia due to hydroxyurea induced hemolytic anemia. Association between autoimmune hepatic cirrhosis and autoimmune hemolytic anemia should also be considered in this patient. Background: Dengue virus (DENV) infection is an emerging arboviral infection in tropical and sub-tropical countries in South-East Asia, the Western Pacific and South and Central America. Secondary DENV infection is the most widely accepted risk factor for the development of severe forms. Methods to discriminate primary and secondary DENV infection may be of great prognostic value. ELISA based detection of specific antibodies (IgG and IgM) to the four DENV serotypes is valuable for detemination of primary or secondary infection. Several studies had been performed to discriminate primary and secondary DENV infection using the ratio of IgG and IgM at the various days of symptoms onset. The aim of this study is to determine the best cut-off point of IgG to IgM ratio is able to discriminating secondary from primary DENV infection in adult using samples from early days of symptoms onset. Methods: This prospective cohort study on 48 adult patients with DENV infected patients on the period of August 2011-January 2012 in 5 out-patient settings health facilities in Tangerang district, Banten province, Indonesia with chief complaint of fever less than 3 days. Datas were collected on the day the patients attended health facilities, consisted of demographic, clinical, laboratory, and serological data. Serological data from 48 serum sample from adult patients were evaluated using Focus Diagnostics Dengue Virus IgM and IgG Capture DxSelect™ ELISA Kits to determine IgG, IgM index values and SD Bioline Dengue Duo™ Rapid Tests to determine NS1, IgG, and IgM result. Results: According to NS1, IgG and IgM results, 36 patients were classified as secondary infection, 12 were primary Infection. The mean (SD) of IgG/IgM ratios for secondary and primary infection were 3.28 (0.54) and 0.18 (0.11) consecutively. The IgG/IgM ratio of ≥ 1.14 confirmed secondary infection with sensitivity of 80.56 %, specificity 91.67 %, accuracy level 83.33 %, and likely hood ratio of (LR) 9.67. Conclusion: The IgG/IgM ratio of ≥ 1.14 as the best cut off point to determine secondary DENV infection in early days of symptoms onset. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Patients diagnosed with hematology malignancy and solid tumor who underwent chemotherapy, frequently encountered hepatitis B reactivation. Patients with blood cancer, including lymphoma, had higher risk of reactivation compared to those with solid tumor. Steroid and immunosuppressant drugs contained in chemotherapy regimens were responsible for those events. Hepatitis B reactivation during chemotherapy treatment could contribute to acute liver failure and increase mortality. Administration of analog nucleoside therapy in this group of patient prior to the initiation of chemotherapy could prevent reactivation of hepatitis B. A 43 year-old male patient were diagnosed with diffuse large B cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma stadium II BE (oropharynx) under chemotherapy and had hepatitis B. Although internet addiction has been studied in medical students, there is a paucity of evidence regarding internet gaming disorder. Previous studies in Indonesia explored only the prevalence rate and characteristics. Objective: This study aimed to determine the prevalence rate of internet gaming disorder and correlations between internet gaming disorder, temperament, and psychopathology among Indonesian medical students. Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed from August 2019 to September 2019 using total and convenience sampling at a private university and a public university, respectively. The study variables were measured using the Indonesian version of the 10-item Internet Gaming Disorder Test, the Temperament and Character Inventory, and the Symptoms Checklist 90. Chi-square and logistic regression analyses were conducted to examine the relationships between demographic factors, temperament, psychopathology, and the presence of internet gaming disorder. Results: Among the 639 respondents, the prevalence rate of internet gaming disorder was 2.03% (n=13), with a mean age of 20.23 (SD 0.13) years and an average gaming duration of 19.0 (SD 0.96) hours/week. Up to 71.2% respondents played using their mobile phones, and respondents with internet gaming disorder reported experiencing all psychopathologies assessed, except phobic anxiety. Bivariate analysis demonstrated that internet gaming disorder was associated with gender, gaming duration, gaming community affiliation, and 9 out of 10 domains of psychopathology. In a logistic regression model, internet gaming disorder was correlated with weekly gaming hours ≥20 hours (odds ratio [OR] 4.21, 95% CI 1.08-16.38, P =.04). Conclusions: These findings suggest that the prevalence of internet gaming disorder among medical students in Jakarta, Indonesia is similar to that in other populations of Asian countries. The predisposing factor for internet gaming disorder was weekly gaming duration, while other demographic, temperament, and psychopathology variables acted as probable moderators. Strategies should, therefore, be developed and integrated into medical curriculum to screen and aid individuals with these predisposing factors. (2) Several comorbidities have been demonstrated to be associated with the development of severe outcomes from COVID-19 infection, such as hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, dyslipidemia, thyroid disease, and pulmonary disease. Purpose: As coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) continues to spread rapidly causing approximately 186 million confirmed cases around the world, the urgency to reach herd immunity through vaccination is increasing. However, vaccine safety is a top priority to limit the occurrence of adverse events. Henceforth, this study aims to recognize and perceive COVID-19 vaccine safety in Indonesia during the pandemic. Materials and Methods: This is a cross-sectional study and was conducted in Indonesia during the COVID-19 pandemic using an online survey of demographic information and a qualitative questionnaire. Responses were recorded and the association between demographic characteristics from survey questions was tested using chi-square with a risk estimate and 95% confidence interval. Results: A total of 311 participants from 33 out of 34 provinces in Indonesia participated in this study. Recorded responses showed multiple side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine both shortand long-term experienced by the participants. Significant associations were found between demographic factors and COVID-19 vaccine side effects such as female gender with shortterm puncture site (odds ratio [OR], 0.463; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.263-0.816) and shortterm other reactions (OR, 0.463; 95% CI, 0.263-0.816), domicile outside Java island with longterm puncture site (OR, 4.219; 95% CI, 1.401-12.701) and immune reactions (OR, 3.375; 95% CI, 1.356-8.398), also between married marital status and long-term vagal reaction (OR, 4.655; 95% CI, 1.321-16.409). Delirium is a common presenting symptom among older patients. Patients who presented with delirium may have a higher morbidity and mortality rate due to older age, other comorbidities, and atypical COVID-19 presentation. Currently, the evidence supporting delirium as one of the predictors of poor outcome of COVID-19 is still insufficient. This study aims to explore the potential association between delirium and poor outcomes from COVID-19. We systematically searched the PubMed and Google Scholar databases using specific keywords related to our aims until January 30th, 2021. All articles published on COVID-19 and delirium were retrieved. The quality of the study was assessed using the Newcastle Ottawa Scale (NOS) tool for observational studies and Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal Tools for case-series studies. Statistical analysis was done using Review Manager 5.4 software. Our meta-analysis of 20 studies showed that delirium symptoms on admission was associated with poor outcomes from COVID-19 [OR 2.36 (95% CI 1.80–3.09), p < 0.00001, I 2 = 76%, random-effect models] and its subgroup which consist of severe COVID-19 [OR 3.89 (95% CI 1.72–8.75), p = 0.001, I 2 = 91%, random-effect models], and mortality from COVID-19 [OR 1.90 (95% CI 1.55–2.33), p < 0.00001, I 2 = 36%, random-effect models]. Meta-regression showed that the association was influenced by age (p = 0.005). Our study suggests delirium as an important marker to identify patients at higher risk for developing poor COVID-19 outcomes. Currently, there is no widely acceptable and proven effective treatment for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19). Colchicine has been shown to offer a benefit in reducing the inflammation in several inflammatory diseases. This study aims to analyze the efficacy of colchicine administration and outcomes of COVID‐19. We systematically searched the PubMed and Europe PMC database using specific keywords related to our aims until January 29, 2021. All articles published on COVID‐19 and colchicine treatment were retrieved. The quality of the study was assessed using the Newcastle–Ottawa Scale (NOS) tool for observational studies and Revised Cochrane risk‐of‐bias tool for randomized trials (RoB 2) for clinical trial studies. Statistical analysis was done using Review Manager 5.4 software. A total of eight studies with 5778 COVID‐19 patients were included in this meta‐analysis. This meta‐analysis showed that the administration of colchicine was associated with improvement of outcomes of COVID‐19 [OR 0.43 (95% CI 0.34–0.55), p < 0.00001, I2 = 0%, fixed‐effect modelling] and its subgroup which comprised of reduction from severe COVID‐19 [OR 0.44 (95% CI 0.31–0.63), p < 0.00001, I2 = 0%, fixed‐effect modelling] and reduction of mortality rate from COVID‐19 [OR 0.43 (95% CI 0.32–0.58), p < 0.00001, I2 = 0%, fixed‐effect modelling]. Our study suggests the routine use of colchicine for treatment modalities of COVID‐19 patients. More randomized clinical trial studies are still needed to confirm the results from this study. Background: Parkinson's Disease (PD) is among one of the common comorbidities in older patients. People with PD may be more vulnerable to severe pneumonia, due to the impairment of pulmonary function. Currently, the association between PD and COVID-19 is not yet established. This study aims to analyze the relationship between PD and in-hospital outcomes of COVID-19.Materials and Methods: We systematically searched the PubMed and Europe PMC database using specific keywords related to our aims until December 25th, 2020. All articles published on COVID-19 and Parkinson's Disease were retrieved. The quality of the study was assessed using the Newcastle Ottawa Scale (NOS) tool for observational studies and Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal Tools for cross-sectional studies. Statistical analysis was done using Review Manager 5.4 software.Results: A total of 12 studies with 103,874 COVID-19 patients were included in this meta-analysis. This meta-analysis showed that Parkinson's Disease was associated with poor in-hospital outcomes [[OR 2.64 (95% CI 1.75-3.99), p < 0.00001, I2 = 81%] and its subgroup which comprised of severe COVID-19 [OR 2.61 (95% CI 1.98-3.43), p < 0.00001, I2 = 0%] and mortality from COVID-19 [RR 2.63 (95% CI 1.50-4.60), p = 0.0007, I2 = 91%]. Meta-regression showed that the association was influenced by age (p = 0.05), but not by gender (p = 0.46) and dementia (p = 0.23).Conclusions: Extra care and close monitoring should be provided to Parkinson's Disease patients to minimize the risk of infections, preventing the development of severe and mortality outcomes. Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been declared as an international public health emergency by the World Health Organization (WHO). ACE-2 receptors are highly expressed in the upper and lower gastrointestinal system, providing a prerequisite for SARS-CoV-2 infection in the gastrointestinal tract. The aim of this systematic review is to summarize literature and to evaluate the clinical characteristics of patients with positive viral RNA stool test for COVID-19 and if there is a possibility of fecal-oral transmission of SARS-CoV-2 virus. Method: This systematic review has been registered in PROSPERO (CRD42020183049). A systematic search from PubMed central and Google Scholar through May 5th, 2020. Observational and clinical trial were included. Systematic reviews and case reports were excluded. Three reviewers independently searched and selected. The risk of bias was evaluated using Newcastle-Ottawa Quality assessment tool. Results: 340 articles were screened, then from which eight articles were selected. Diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, gastrointestinal bleeding reported as the common symptoms and signs of gastrointestinal involvements. Prolongation of positive stool test results after the respiratory specimen conversion to negative was reported, which support the theory of fecal oral transmission. A positive stool test can be found on COVID-19 patients with any symptoms. Conclusion: In conclusion, diarrhea, cough, and fever are the most common clinical manifestations in COVID-19 patients with positive RNA stool test results. Fecal oral transmission may be possible due to the ACE2 receptors in the lining of the gastrointestinal tract. RNA stool test should be used as addition in discharging COVID-19 patients.
