Abstract To compare protein expression levels, gene mutation and survival among Right-Sided Colon Cancer (RSCC), Left-Sided Colon Cancer (LSCC) and rectal cancer patients, 57 cases of RSCC, 87 LSCC and 145 rectal cancer patients were included retrospectively. Our results demonstrated significant differences existed among RSCC, LSCC and rectal cancer regarding tumor diameter, differentiation, invasion depth and TNM stage. No significant difference was identified in expression levels of MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, PMS2, β-Tubulin III, P53, Ki67 and TOPIIα, and gene mutation of KRAS and BRAF among three groups. Progression Free Survival (PFS) of RSCC was significantly lower than that of LRCC and rectal cancer. In univariate analyses, RSCC, preoperative chemoradiotherapy, poor differentiation, advanced TNM stage, elevated serum CEA and CA19-9 level, tumor deposit, perineural and vascular invasion were found to be predictive factors of shorter PFS. In multivariate analyses, only differentiation and TNM stages were found to be independent predictors of PFS. In conclusion, compared with LSCC and rectal cancer, RSCC has larger tumor size, poor differentiation, advanced TNM stage and shorter survival. The shorter survival in RSCC might be attributed to the advanced tumor stage caused by its inherent position feature of proximal colon rather than genetic difference.

Explorations in the past 20 years in the Plio-Pleistocene Zanda Basin (3,800–4,500 m above sea level) along the northern slopes of the Himalaya Mountains have substantially enriched our understanding of the paleoenvironments of the Tibetan Plateau and associated biologic evolution. Many elements of the mammalian fauna recovered are either new to science or shed new light about their special adaptations in this high elevation basin. Here we describe a new species of twisted-horned antelope, Gazellospira tsaparangensis, with a heteronymous spiral. Its small size and primitive morphology, such as relatively short horncore with less twisting, thin frontal bones, a lack of frontal and horncore sinuses, small size of supraorbital foramina, and lack of an anterior keel, helps to place it at the base of genus Gazellospira, substantially more stem-ward than the type species G. torticornis from the Plio-Pleistocene of Europe and western Asia. With an estimated age of 3.62 Ma, this also places G. tsaparangensis as one of the early occurrences in Eurasia, although some fragmentary records in Turkey may be slightly earlier. Considering this early appearance and primitive morphology, G. tsaparangensis once again may be a case of the ‘out-of-Tibet’ model of megafauna origin, with earlier progenitors adapted to cold environments in high Tibet before expanding their range to the rest of Eurasia.

The solid-electrolyte-interphase (SEI) plays a critical role in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) because of its important influence on electrochemical performance, such as cycle stability, coulombic efficiency, etc. Although LiOH has been recognized as a key component of the SEI, its influence on the SEI and electrochemical performance has not been well clarified due to the difficulty in precisely controlling the LiOH content and characterize the detailed interface reactions. Here, a gradual change of LiOH content is realized by different reduction schemes among Co(OH)2, CoOOH and CoO. With reduced Co nanoparticles as magnetic probes, SEI characterization is achieved by operando magnetometry. By combining comprehensive characterization and theoretical calculations, it is verified that LiOH leads to a composition transformation from lithium ethylene di-carbonate (LEDC) to lithium ethylene mono-carbonate (LEMC) in the SEI and ultimately results in capacity decay. This work unfolds the detailed SEI reaction scenario involving LiOH, provides new insights into the influence of SEI composition, and has value for the co-development between the electrode materials and electrolyte.

ABSTRACT The induction of brown-like adipocyte development in white adipose tissue (WAT) confers numerous metabolic benefits by decreasing adiposity and increasing energy expenditure. Therefore, WAT browning has gained considerable attention for its potential to reverse obesity and its associated co-morbidities. However, this perspective has been tainted by recent studies identifying the detrimental effects of inducing WAT browning. This review aims to highlight the adverse outcomes of both overactive and underactive browning activity, the harmful side effects of browning agents, as well as the molecular brake-switch system that has been proposed to regulate this process. Developing novel strategies that both sustain the metabolic improvements of WAT browning and attenuate the related adverse side effects is therefore essential for unlocking the therapeutic potential of browning agents in the treatment of metabolic diseases.

The slag behaviors, directly relating with the qualities of the final cast products, are influenced by the transient surface flow of liquid steel in a continuous casting mold. A one-half scale model is used to investigate the slag behaviors and their droplets entrainment. The model based on Volume of Fluid (VOF) multiphase coupled with Large Eddy Simulation (LES) is established to further illuminate the phenomena of the liquid oil layer fluctuation, the slag “eye” regions, and the slag entrainment observed in water experiment. The effects of casting speeds on the slag behaviors and their entrained droplets are investigated. The results show that the fluctuation of the oil layer is influenced by the transient flow. The calculations for the oil layer profile, the accumulation, and protrusions of oil layer are consistent with the water experiment. The asymmetry of the slag “eye” regions is also influenced by the asymmetry of free surface and transient turbulent flow. The “eye” regions near the narrow wall show distinct asymmetric change at different casting speeds. At a lower casting speed, the slag “eye” regions change irregularly and display the alternate process of open and collapse at the two sides of the narrow walls of the model. While at a relative higher casting speed, the slag layer gathers toward the nozzle, and the slag “eye” regions gradually grow and always open. The simulation model can reveal that the mechanism of the slag entrainment includes two main modes: the cutting or dragging mode and shear layer instability. The average diameter and amount of the entrained droplets are calculated through the UDF codes of ANSYS FLUENT software, and the size distribution of the entrained droplets is also counted. When the casting speed is lower, the dominant diameters of the entrained droplets range between 2 and 3 mm. With casting speed increase, the distribution of the droplets becomes wider, and there is a gradually increase in the percentage of larger droplets with a size of 4–6 mm.

Micro-organisms are the main drivers of the water biogeochemical cycle and the major player in energy metabolism, which are pivotal processes for maintaining diversity and stability in ecological water systems. Aerobic anoxygenic phototrophic bacteria (AAPB), the important functional groups widespread in the water, can acquire energy from light and further affect the hydrochemical composition. The importance of AAPB is well recognized and has been studied extensively. In order to study the relationship between the hydrochemical characteristics and the AAPB feedback effect in front of the Wulixia Reservoir dam, water samples from different layers were collected. Based on the stable carbon isotope of dissolved organic carbon and particulate organic carbon isotope composition, the distribution pattern of AAPB was measured by real-time PCR technology. Results show that the hydrochemical type in the front of the reservoir dam water system was HCO3--Ca2+-Mg2+ type and had a poor-moderate eutrophication state during the sampling period. The results of dissolved oxygen, stable carbon isotope and the C/N showed that the main source of organic carbon was produced by micro-organisms. The ratio of AAPB to total planktonic bacteria in the Wulixia Reservoir water was 1.33%-1.60%, and the variation degree of AAPB abundance was greater than that of the total planktonic bacteria abundance, which means that the AAPB feedback is more sensitive to the hydrochemical characteristics compared with that of total planktonic bacteria. The canonical correspondence analysis reveals the relationship between hydrochemical composition and AAPB. Canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) results show that AAPB and total planktonic bacteria are strongly influenced by turbidity, which makes it possible to apply marine microbiological pump theory in karst reservoirs. Hydrochemical characteristic feedback on AAPB will improve understanding of the metabolic system of CO2-H2O-carbonate and micro-organisms.

Aiming at the vulnerability poor quality and need prior knowledge of traditional mathematical programming theory on multi-objective optimization in practical engineering optimization problem. Put forward an improved particle swarm optimization conjugated the criterion with minimum Euclidean distance to a base value and then combined with grey decision to make multiobjective optimization. Applied the above multi-objective optimization method on roadheader shovel plate parameters and have done some simulation on shovel plate grubbing coal rock,has obtained a good optimization effect. By doing so,it verifies the feasibility of this method and provides convenience and reference to deal with multi-objective optimization problems in engineering practice.

The compression open hole packer was one of the core parts of horizontal well open hole staged fracturing completion technology. Due to working in an environment of high temperature,high pressure and complex and deep stratum,the packer setting often turned to low pressure and losed efficacy earlier. The main reason was that the sealing structures of the packer were unreasonable,which reducing the contact stress between rubber and well wall. Based on the elasticity theory,the maximum contact pressure of packer rubber setting was derived and a new sealing structure of compression open hole packer was constructed which consisted of four-rubbers. By using ABAQUS,the contact stress distribution between conventional and new combined rubbers were comparativelly analyzed in the same condition,and the head face bevel of new type combined rubbers was optimized.In the end,the effects on contact stress of new type combined rubber tube caused by friction factor were discussed. The analytical result shows that the new sealing structure could transfer the setting force to sealing rubbers more effectively,and the contact stress significantly increased and distributed more evenly,which ensuring the reliability of the sealing rubber.

The semi-coke powder was selected from a factory producing semi-coke with high volatile bituminous coal under medium-low temperature carbonization and pyrolysis.The semi-coke powder was used to conditioning the excess sludge from waste water treatment plant.Based on the physicochemical properties analysis of semi-coke powder，raw sludge and treated sludge by semi-coke powder，concentrating，filtering and dewatering property of sludge was researched through experiments.Meanwhile，the mechanism of conditioning sludge with semi-coke was analyzed by Zeta potential，microscope，infrared spectrum and scanning electron microscope.The experimental results showed:when semi-coke dosage was 250%，the specific resistance of filtration decreased significantly from 3.22×1013m/kg(raw sludge)to 4.33 ×1011m/kg，the water content of sludge after concentration was reduced from 98.6%to 91.2%，the settling velocity of sludge obviously accelerated from 3.0 mL/min to 34.3 mL/min，the water content of filter cake was low down from 87.8%to 63.6%，and the low calorific value of sludge increased from 10.68 MJ/kg to 21.77 MJ/kg.The mechanism of semi-coke powder conditioning sewage sludge were adsorption and flocculation abilities to improve the settling performance，skeleton construction forming rigid frame structure with many channels and intervals which could prevent sludge cake compression and maintain high permeability during air-pump filtration，weakening the hydrophilicity and increasing the hydrophobicity of sludge.

Objective: Genetic background largely contributes to the complexity of metabolic responses and dysfunctions. Induction of brown adipose features in white fat, known as brown remodeling, has been appreciated as a promising strategy to offset the positive energy balance in obesity and further to improve metabolism. Here we address the effects of genetic background on this process. Methods: We investigated browning remodeling in a depot-specific manner by comparing the response of C57BL/6J, 129/Sv and FVB/NJ mouse strains to cold. Results: Surprisingly, 129/Sv and FVB/NJ mice showed distinct brown remodeling features despite their similar resistance to metabolic disorders in comparison to the obesity-prone C57BL/6J mice. FVB/NJ mice demonstrated a preference of brown remodeling in inguinal subcutaneous white adipose tissue (iWAT), whereas 129/Sv mice displayed robust brown remodeling in visceral epididymal fat (eWAT). We further compared gene expression in different depots by RNA-sequencing and identified Hoxc10 as a novel “brake” of brown remodeling in iWAT. Conclusion: Rodent genetic background determines the brown remodeling of different white fat depots. This study provides new insights into the role of genetic variation in fat remodeling in susceptibility to metabolic diseases. Marine sediments have complex components. Due to the influence of the matrix effect, intensities of elements can only be acquired when using a Core Scanner to carry out X-ray Fluorescence Spectrum analysis, which restricts its application in the fields of paleoecology and mineralization. A method has been introduced for the fast determination of Al2O3, K2O, CaO, TiO2, MnO, Fe2O3, V, Cr, Cu, Zn, Rb, Sr, Y and Pb in marine sediments by Core Scanner, the effects of back-propagation neural network on correcting the nonlinear matrix effects have been investigated and are presented in this paper. Experimental results show that using national certified reference materials of stream sediments, marine sediments and rocks as training samples, a genetic algorithm is used to optimize the initial weight and bias of BP neural network. The matrix effect of 14 elements except Si was corrected by the GA-BP neural network method, which converts the Core Scanner X-ray Fluorescence Spectrum output results from intensities to concentrations. The relative standard deviations of this method are 0.6%-6.8% (n=11). The relative deviations between the predicted values and the reference values of the 15 components of the national standard materials and marine sediment samples range from 0.5% to 17.5%. This indicates that the proposed method is suitable for fast analysis of multi-components in marine sediments, extending the functions of the Core Scanner.

Silicon-containing diamond-like carbon (Si-DLC) films were successfully deposited on nitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) via magnetron sputtering Si target in Ar and CH4 mixture atmosphere. The influence of Ar plasma pretreatment bias on the adhesion and tribological properties of the Si-DLC coated NBR were investigated systematically. The results indicated that the surface roughness of NBR substrate decreased monotonously with the increase of bias. Compared with the virgin NBR, the surface topography did not change significantly under a low bias, but a shallow layer and considerable chain scission could be observed by SEM and FTIR analysis under a high bias. As a consequence, the excellent adhesion could be obtained by Ar plasma pretreatment under a high bias (>-500 V), while the adhesion of the samples pretreated by a low bias (≤-500 V) were even worse than that of untreated samples. Furthermore, the samples pretreated at a relatively high bias of -1000 V exhibited the lowest and stable friction coefficient of 0.25 and outstanding wear resistance, while the tribological performance of the samples pretreated with a low bias (≤-500V) were even worse than that of untreated ones. The research results of this work are of great surface engineering significance for the design and fabrication of hard films with a high adhesion and excellent tribological performance on rubber substrates.

In order to solve the problem of waste of living water in Chifeng College Students' dormitory, the actual situation of water consumption in student dormitory was investigated. This paper analyzes the potential of water-saving and water-saving technology and strategy of Chifeng College, and finds out the water-saving mode suitable for the dormitory of Chifeng College. On this basis, the research on the application of reclaimed water treatment technology and the construction of reclaimed water treatment station in Chifeng university is carried out. This study provides theoretical and experimental support for solving the problem of water-saving in Chifeng College.

Hangzhou Xiacheng District is the first community public cultural service performance evaluation mechanism in China, which provides a sample for modern public cultural services in urban communities across the country, and also provides exemplary experience for promoting the modernization of community governance system and governance capacity. This study uses innovative evaluation methods to make an empirical analysis of community governance capacity in Xiacheng District of Hangzhou, and tries to find the reasonable calculation method

Based on the statistics of the current situation of hot water in students’ dormitories of Chifeng University, this paper summarizes the characteristics of male and female students’ use of domestic hot water, obtains the relevant laws of university students’ hot water use behavior characteristics, and puts forward the selection and layout of water heaters according to the water use rules, so as to solve the bottleneck problem of hot water use in our school.

Because of unique electrical and structural properties, graphene has attracted widespread attention in biosensing applications. In this paper, a single layer of graphene was grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Using graphene as the electric channel, a graphene field effect transistor (G-FET) biosensor was fabricated and used to detect adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and adenosine. Compared with traditional methods, the G-FET biosensor has the advantages of higher sensitivity and better stability. The sensor showed high performance and achieved a detection limit down to 0.5 pM for both ATP and adenosine. Moreover, the G-FET biosensor showed an excellent linear electrical response to ATP concentrations in a broad range from 0.5 pM to 50 μM. The developed graphene biosensor has high sensitivity, simple operation, and fast analysis speed, which may provide a new feasible direction to detect ATP and adenosine. Healthy sexually mature male laboratory Wistar rats, weighing 180-200 gr (“FSUE “Nursery of laboratory animals “Rappolovo”) and having been placed under quarantine not less than for 14 days, were selected for the experiment.

This paper mainly uses the method of model test to study the ultimate uplift bearing characteristics of a single pile with different length-to-diameter ratios, mainly from the distribution laws of the uplift bearing capacity of the pile, the axial force of the pile and the side friction of the pile perform analysis. The model pile is made of PVC pipe, and resistance strain gauges are attached to both sides of the pipe. The strain value of the PVC pipe under different load conditions is measured to obtain the working behavior of the pile during the process of pulling out the pile. The result shows that the model test data is in good agreement with the numerical simulation.

Promoting industry-university-institute cooperation is a key measure for colleges and universities to keep up with the pace of higher education and socio-economic development. Colleges and universities need to improve the industry-university-institute cooperative talent training mechanism, and establish an industry-university-institute cooperative education system based on public technology service platforms, to promote the combination of technology and production through cooperative education based on their current situation of research, push forward the supply side reform of higher education, and provide human resources, technical support and industrial services for social development against the background of emerging engineering education. While enhancing their levels of scientific research and education, colleges and universities can promote social progress and help enterprises create economic benefits, to achieve win-win cooperation with all relevant parties in the society.
