Abstract

Background: Disease-modifying therapy is the standard treatment for patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) in remission. The primary objective of the current analysis was to assess the efficacy and safety of two teriflunomide doses (7 mg and 14 mg) in the subgroup of Chinese patients with relapsing MS included in the TOWER study. Methods: TOWER was a multicenter, multinational, randomized, double-blind, parallel-group (three groups), placebo-controlled study. This subgroup analysis includes 148 Chinese patients randomized to receive either teriflunomide 7 mg (n = 51), teriflunomide 14 mg (n = 43), or placebo (n = 54). Results: Of the 148 patients in the intent-to-treat population, adjusted annualized relapse rates were 0.63 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.44, 0.92) in the placebo group, 0.48 (95% CI: 0.33, 0.70) in the teriflunomide 7 mg group, and 0.18 (95% CI: 0.09, 0.36) in the teriflunomide 14 mg group; this corresponded to a significant relative risk reduction in the teriflunomide 14 mg group versus placebo (−71.2%, P = 0.0012). Teriflunomide 14 mg also tended to reduce 12-week confirmed disability worsening by 68.1% compared with placebo (hazard ratio: 0.319, P = 0.1194). There were no differences across all treatment groups in the proportion of patients with treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs; 72.2% in the placebo group, 74.5% in the teriflunomide 7 mg group, and 69.8% in the teriflunomide 14 mg group); corresponding proportions for serious adverse events were 11.1%, 3.9%, and 11.6%, respectively. The most frequently reported TEAEs with teriflunomide versus placebo were neutropenia, increased alanine aminotransferase, and hair thinning. Conclusions: Teriflunomide was as effective and safe in the Chinese subpopulation as it was in the overall population of patients in the TOWER trial. Teriflunomide has the potential to meet unmet medical needs for MS patients in China. We have grown intermetallic ErPd2Si2 single crystals employing laser diodes with the floating-zone method. The temperature dependence of the unit-cell parameters was determined using synchrotron and in-house X-ray powder diffraction measurements from 20 to 500 K. The diffraction patterns fit well with the tetragonal I4/mmm space group (No. 139) with two chemical formulae within the unit cell. The synchrotron powder diffraction study shows that the refined unit-cell parameters are a = 4.10320(2) Å, c = 9.88393(5) Å at 298 K and a = 4.11737(2) Å, c = 9.88143(5) Å at 500 K, resulting in the unit-cell volume V = 166.408(1) Å3 (298 K) and 167.517(2) Å3 (500 K). Abstract

GaFeO3-type oxides are promising multiferroic materials due to the coexistence of spontaneous magnetization and ferroelectric polarization properties at room temperature. As these ferroic properties feature a large anisotropy, single crystals are required. However, the magnetization of GaFeO3-type single crystals remains low at room temperature. In this study, we largely enhanced the magnetization at room temperature of GaFeO3-type single crystals by increasing the Fe content and co-doping Sc3+ and Al3+. Single crystals of AlxSc0.1−xGa0.6Fe1.3O3 (x = 0.01–0.04) were prepared using the optical floating-zone method. The single crystals were rod-shaped, with a diameter and length of ∼6 mm and 7 cm, respectively. X-ray diffraction measurements confirmed the ferroelectric polarization of the crystals. In addition, they exhibited room-temperature ferrimagnetism, with Curie temperature in the range of 326–338 K; the crystals exhibit magnetic anisotropy along the a-axis. The magnetization of the single crystal at 300 K and 0.3 kOe was 13 emu g−1, which is over ten times larger than those of previously reported single crystals with GaFeO3-type crystal structure. Abstract

The synthesis conditions of the 11C-Raclopride with domestic PET-CM-3H-IT-I synthesis module and 11C-Triflate-CH-3I as methylation agent were studied, which included the alkali equivalent, solvents, temperature, the amount of precursor and elution conditions for the product. The optimum condition was 1.5-3.0 g/L of precursor in acetone (0.2 mL), alkali equivalent (0.30-1.25 eq) and at room temperature (25 ℃) for synthesis of 11C-Raclopride. It could be got with radiochemical yield of (64.82±4.74)% (n=46, EOB of 11C-Triflate-CH3). The radiochemical purity was over 97% and the specific activity was at (423.61±13.43) GBq/g. It took 23 minutes from 11C-CO2 to 11C-Raclopride, and the production radioactivity was (6.9±0.87) GBq (n=46). The synthetic process was reliable and reproducible, and the product synthesized by this process was suitable for clinical use.

Abstract

Simultaneously improving efficiency and stability, which are particularly crucial factors for the commercialization of perovskite solar cells (PSCs), remains a major challenge. For high-efficiency normal PSCs, the development of stable dopant-free hole-transport materials (HTMs) seems imperative. Here, we developed potential donor-acceptor small molecules (BTTI) as HTMs for normal planar PSCs. Through tailoring its alkyl side-chain length as BTTI-C6, BTTI-C8, and BTTI-C12, our results show that upon shortening the side chain of BTTI, the hole mobility, film-forming capability, and resultant device performance were remarkably improved, with the device conversion efficiencies of 19.69% for BTTI-C6, 18.89% for BTTI-C8, and 17.49% for BTTI-C12. Meanwhile, compared to those made with the routine doped Spiro-OMeTAD, devices based on our dopant-free HTMs exhibited significantly improved stability. This work paves the way to the development of effective dopant-free HTMs for high-performance PSCs. © 2019 American Chemical Society.
