This paper proposes a novel autonomous underwater vehicle path planning algorithm in a cluttered underwater environment based on the heat method. The algorithm calculates the isotropic and anisotropic geodesic distances by adding the direction and magnitude of the currents to the heat method, which is named the anisotropy-based heat method. Taking account of the relevant influence of the environment on the cost functions, such as currents, obstacles and turn of the vehicle, an efficient collision-free and energy-optimized path solution can be obtained. Simulation results show that the anisotropy-based heat method is able to find a good trajectory in both static and dynamic clutter fields (including uncertain obstacles and changing currents). Compared with the fast marching (FM) algorithm, the anisotropy-based heat method is not only robust, flexible, and simple to implement, but it also greatly saves time consumption and memory footprint in a time-variant environment. Finally, the evaluation criteria of paths are proposed in terms of length, arrival time, energy consumption, and smoothness.

Hafnium-based ceramic with low thermal expansion is suitable for thermal and environmental barrier coating materials. However, the fracture toughness is relatively low. In this work, GdAlO 3 is doped into Gd 2 Hf 2 O 7 , increasing the fracture toughness by 31 %. The increase originates from crack deflecting, crack branching and more tortuous crack route. Meanwhile, GdAlO 3 -Gd 2 Hf 2 O 7 has lower thermal expansion, making it more compatible with environmental barrier coating systems. The thermal conductivity increases from Gd 2 Hf 2 O 7 to GdAlO 3 -Gd 2 Hf 2 O 7 , which can be expected to reduce by controlling the content of GdAlO 3. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The increase in operating temperature contributes to improving the performance and fuel utilization efficiency of gas turbines. However, it also places thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) in a more demanding working environment, requiring higher sintering resistance and better mechanical properties. In the present study, HfO2 was introduced into the dual‐phase LaYbZr2O7 system as a doping oxide to form the LaYb(HfxZr1−x)2O7 system. The research concentrated on its phase composition, mechanical properties, and thermophysical properties. The results show that substituting Hf for Zr does not alter the dual‐phase structure of the system. The mutual inhibition between the two phases and the inherent material‐binding capability of Hf further reduce the grain size compared to pure LYZO. Additionally, the presence of Hf reduces the tendency of Frenkel defect formation and cation migration frequency, effectively inhibiting ion diffusion and thereby suppressing the densification and shrinkage trends of the material. The system retains relatively high hardness, fracture toughness, and low elastic modulus of the LYZO matrix, with a decrease in thermal conductivity and an increase in infrared reflectivity. These results suggest that Hf doping enhances the sintering resistance of LYZO material, making them promising for high‐temperature TBCs. Our study presents a viable approach to enhance the sintering resistance of LYZO, and this methodology can be extrapolated to other rare‐earth zirconates. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Double‐layer thermal barrier coatings are one of the development directions of thermal barrier coatings technology. LaYbZr2O7 (LYZO) has high toughness and low thermal conductivity, making it promising for use as a high‐temperature thermal barrier coating. However, its relatively poor mechanical properties, especially low fracture toughness, limit its further application. Therefore, we prepared a double‐layer coating of LYZO and Y2O3 partially stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) using atmospheric plasma spraying, with the inner layer being YSZ and the outer layer being LYZO. The results showed that after spraying, LYZO was in the metastable fluorite phase, while YSZ was in the tetragonal phase. LYZO and YSZ had good chemical compatibility, and an interaction layer formed at the interface between them, with its thickness increasing with the sintering time. Eventually, after 100 h of heat treatment, the thickness reached 12 µm. The hardness of the LYZO/YSZ interface increased with the sintering time, reaching a maximum value after sintering at 1300°C for 10 h. When evaluating the interfacial bonding strength using indentation method, the length of cracks caused by indentation significantly decreased with the increase of sintering time. The increase in bonding strength can be attributed to the formation of a reaction layer and the reduction of thermal residual stresses. Raman spectroscopy was used to measure the thermal residual strain at the LYZO/YSZ interface. Unbalanced distribution of thermal residual stress and M phase was observed near the interface. As the sintering time increased, both thermal residual stress and M phase content decreased. In summary, the double‐layer thermal barrier coating of LYZO/YSZ has good potential for development. In this study, high-quality thin films of the topological semimetal phase NiTe2 were prepared using the molecular beam epitaxy technique, confirmed through x-ray diffraction with pronounced Laue oscillations. Electrical transport experiments reveal that thick films have properties similar to bulk materials. By employing co-deposition, we introduced either magnetic or non-magnetic elements during the growth of thinner films, significantly altering their electrical properties. Notably, the magnetic element Cr induces long-range ferromagnetic ordering, leading to the observation of a significant anomalous Hall effect in NiTe2 thin films. The Hall conductivity remains nearly constant well below the Curie temperature, indicating the correlation with the intrinsic topological nature of the band structure. Theoretical first principles band calculations support the generation of the Weyl semimetal state in the material through magnetic doping. These findings pave the way for exploring more magnetic Weyl semimetals and related low-dimensional quantum devices based on topological semimetals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The dense, uniform and conformal electron transport layers (ETLs) will largely promote charge separation and extraction. Here, the mixed acid (hydrochloric acid and nitric acid) was used to regulate preparation process and enhance utilization of materials, and the colloids of tin oxide (SnO2) nanocrystals were prepared through hydrothermal process. The complete dissolution of Sn source can increase purity, produce homogeneous precursor, reduce grain sizes and improve film-coverage. As confirmed, a coherent interlayer at the SnO2 ETLs/perovskite interfaces will be achieved by coupling a Cl-bonded SnO2 film with a Cl-containing perovskite precursor. This thin coherent interlayer will largely reduce interface traps, enhance rapid carrier extraction, and impede charge recombination. The uniform polymer phase of (PEO)120-(PPO)30 will be used to passivate traps at the grain boundaries of perovskite films and further improve the photovoltaic performance. The maximum energy conversion efficiency (23.17%, a VOC of 1.153 V, a JSC of 24.75 mA cm−2 and a FF of 0.812) of perovskite solar cells was achieved. The charge separation, extraction, and recombination kinetics (charge dynamic process) was determined by the related characterization techniques. The functionalized SnO2-ETLs and formed coherent interlayer will provide a simple strategy to effectively decrease interface traps, enhance charge extraction, and facilitate development of perovskite solar cells. GAP and nitrate ester compounds are introduced into the solid propellant formulation as energetic binders and energetic plasticizing agents, respectively, to further enhance the energy level of solid propellants. However, under abnormal thermal conditions, various components within GAP propellants, especially nitrate ester plasticizers, can collectively result in the generation of a large number of voids within the propellant due to factors such as thermal stress and slow component decomposition. This phenomenon can impact the safety of solid rocket engines, necessitating research into their thermal decomposition processes and thermal damage structures. In this study, the thermal decomposition characteristics and gas products of GAP propellants with different nitrate ester plasticizer formulations were investigated using DSC‐TG and FT‐IR. The damage structure of GAP propellants heated under unignited conditions was studied through Micro‐CT, examining the influence of heating conditions and nitrate ester plasticizers on the thermal damage structure of GAP propellants. During heating, the thermal damage structure of GAP propellants was found to include voids generated within the GAP binder and cracks at the interface between the GAP binder and particles, with nitroglycerin as a plasticizer exacerbating the thermal damage of GAP propellants (about 2.2–2.9 times).
