Abstract

As more and more products are sold, the management of product returns plays a significant role in firms' operational decisions. We consider a capital‐constrained newsvendor model to explore the impact of product returns on firms' operational and financial decisions, in which a capital‐constrained retailer can get financed from either banks or suppliers and refurbish returned products and resell them to customers. Our findings show that offering refurbishment for returned products can increase the retailer's order quantity and improve the capital‐constrained supply chain performance. Moreover, the supplier strategically designs the wholesale price to hinder the retailer refurbishing returned products although the retailer always chooses to provide refurbishment under trade credit. When only trade credit financing is available, there exists a Pareto improvement on both partners' profits under certain cases. In addition, we investigate the financing preferences of the supply chain and find that product returns have a significant influence on the unique financing equilibrium. Finally, we conduct numerical analyses to present the impacts of some key parameters on the performance of both supply chain members. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

238. Depth-recognizable time-domain fluorescence molecular tomography in reflective geometry

Abstract

Conventional fluorescence molecular tomography (FMT) reconstruction requires photons penetrating the whole object, which limits its applications to small animals. However, by utilizing reflective photons, fluorescence distribution near the surface could be reconstructed regardless of the object size, which may extend the applications of FMT to surgical navigation and so on. Therefore, time-domain reflective fluorescence molecular tomography (TD-rFMT) is proposed in this paper. The system excites and detects the emission light from the same angle within a field of view of 5 cm. Because the detected intensities of targets depend strongly on the depth, the reconstruction of targets in deep regions would be evidently affected. Therefore, a fluorescence yield reconstruction method with depth regularization and a weighted separation reconstruction strategy for lifetime are developed to enhance the performance for deep targets. Through simulations and phantom experiments, TD-rFMT is proved capable of reconstructing fluorescence distribution within a 2.5-cm depth with accurate reconstructed yield, lifetime, and target position(s).

240. Radiomics With Attribute Bagging for Breast Tumor Classification Using Multimodal Ultrasound Images.

Abstract

Objectives: We aimed to develop radiomics with attribute bagging, which leverages multimodal ultrasound (US) images to improve the classification accuracy of breast tumors. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted. B‐mode US, shear wave elastographic, and contrast‐enhanced US images of 178 patients with 181 tumors (67 malignant and 114 benign) were included. Radiomics with attribute bagging consisted of extraction of 1226 radiomic features and analysis of them with attribute bagging. Histologic examination results acted as the reference standard. Radiomics with several feature selection algorithms were used for comparison. Cross‐validation and a holdout test were performed to evaluate their performances. Results: The accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of radiomics with attribute bagging with the multimodal US images were 84.12%, 92.86%, 78.80%, and 0.919, respectively, exceeding all the comparison methods. Conclusions: Radiomics with attribute bagging combined with multimodal US images has the potential to be used for accurate diagnosis of breast tumors in the clinic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
