In this study, the impacts of massive sediment input on channel geometry adjustment were analyzed across decades based on the downstream hydraulic geometry. Massive amounts of field data and evolution models showed that the alternation of degradation and aggradation in short-to-medium-term channel adjustment is common in evolving rivers. This phenomenon has always been challenging in research, most existing studies have focused on unidirectional adjustment in short-term channel adjustment. A few studies have considered the alternation of degradation and aggradation in short-to-medium-term channel adjustment, presuming that this phenomenon is caused by water and sediment changes. However, we found that the alternations also occurred under stable water and sediment transport in the North Fork Toutle River, southwestern Washington, USA. This adjustment across decades was analyzed by downstream hydraulic geometry in this study. It was concluded that the river consumes surplus energy to reach the optimal cross section through this short-to-medium-term adjustment under stable water and sediment transport. The objective of channel adjustment is minimal energy loss.

UHV DC transmission lines have large transmission capacity and have networking functions. Large-scale use of insulators in DC UHV lines is an significant part of ensuring the safe and stable operation of transmission lines. Once a pollution flashover occurs, the losses will be huge. The northwestern region has the characteristics of frequent sand and dust weather and high wind speed. In the sand and dust weather, pollution flashovers and other accidents may occur, causing large-scale blackouts and train delays. In response to the above problems, with the sand and dust environment in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Qinghai province as the background, the impact of sand and dust on the electric field distribution of insulators under DC field was studied, and a numerical simulation model of insulator operating characteristics under wind and sand environment was established to analyze wind speed, particle size and concentration of sand dust. The study found that wind and sand have a significant impact on the electric field and potential distribution along the insulator. In a dusty environment, the electric field along the shed at both ends of the insulator is still the largest, and the particle charging makes the electric field at both ends increase, and the field strength distortion intensity near the middle shed Compared with the same position in a clean environment, the field strength value becomes lower; the arc is prone to occur at the high voltage end during sandstorm, and the increase of dust particles can directly distort the field strength along the surface; the effect of wind speed on the surface pressure of the insulator is obvious. With the increase of particle size and concentration, its effect on surface pressure tends to be stable. Severe electric field distortion may cause the insulation performance of insulators to fail. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the influence of wind and sand on the electric field changes of insulators during power grid operation to prevent pollution flashover caused by this.

Cancer is expected to rank as the leading cause of death worldwide due to increasing morbidity and mortality. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been found to play pivotal roles in multiple biological processes, such as transcriptional interference, posttranscriptional regulation and epigenetic modification. Small nucleolar RNA host gene 15 (SNHG15), a snoRNA host gene which produces a short half-lived lncRNA, was reported to be upregulated in tumor cells and participate in the occurrence and development of multiple cancers. And more than half of the SNHG15 research in cancers has been published within the last 2 years. In this review, we summarized the current evidence concerning the biological functions and molecular mechanisms of SNHG15 in various cancers, including gastric, hepatocellular, pancreatic, colorectal, breast, and thyroid cancer, osteosarcoma, glioma, lung cancer, renal cell carcinoma, and epithelial ovarian cancer. SNHG15 plays critical roles in regulation of cell proliferation, migration and invasion of tumors via different potential mechanisms. Moreover, the abnormal expression of SNHG15 was associated with clinical features of patients with cancers. Consequently, SNHG15 could be considered as a promising biomarker for cancer diagnosis, prognosis or treatment.

MTT and flow cytometry assay were used to evaluate the effect of miR-101 on cell proliferation and apoptosis, respectively. BACKGROUND: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has forced accelerated optimization of Emergency Department (ED) process, and simulation tools offer an alternative approach to strategic assessment and selection. METHODS: Field research and case analysis methods were used to obtain the treatment process and medical records information from the ED of a general hospital. Minitab was used for analysis of the measurement system, and Arena was applied for simulation modelling. We established a framework for the triage protocol of ordinary and quarantined patients, analysed bottlenecks in the treatment time of the hospital’s ED, and proposed an optimised management strategy. RESULTS: The computed tomography (CT) pre-scheduling strategy simulation results demonstrated that longer CT room preparation times for quarantined people before their arrival (T(p)) resulted in reduced CT scan and waiting times for quarantined patients, but these times were longer for ordinary patients. The nucleic acid priority strategy simulation results demonstrated that when the average daily number of ordinary patients (λ(c)) was relatively stable, the hospital could guide ordinary patients to perform nucleic acid testing first followed by CT testing. However, when λ(c) fluctuated greatly, the hospital could appropriately reduce the proportion of preferential nucleic acid testing. Furthermore, when λ(c) was overloaded, the nucleic acid priority strategy showed no advantages. The joint analysis results demonstrated that the optimal strategy selection was significantly affected by the severity of the epidemic. The nucleic acid detection sample size optimisation strategy demonstrated that optimizing the sample size of each batch according to the number of patients could effectively reduce the waiting times for nucleic acid testing (T(n)). CONCLUSIONS: Simulation tools are an alternative method for strategic evaluation and selection that do not require external factors.
