Just as no child’s journey to adulthood is the same; the transition needs of transgender students vary and need to be considered on a case-by-case basis. Considerations such as the student’s age, level of family support, personality, and the school’s organizational design may affect how the student’s transition evolves.

The Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, passed by the 2021 Maryland General Assembly, requires that a college and career readiness (CCR) standard be set for Maryland public school students that “certifies that by the end of 10th grade, and not later than the end of 12th grade, a student has the requisite literacy in English and math to be successful in first-year, credit-bearing coursework at a Maryland community college or open enrollment postsecondary institution” (Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Act, 2021, p. 9).

Thus, the purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between high school academic performance measures and actual success in postsecondary coursework.

The purpose of this item is to provide an overview and update of the Blueprint College and Career Readiness Study currently being conducted by the American Institutes for Research (AIR). The results of the interim report on the content and standards alignment analysis will be presented.

Maryland’s monitored beaches met water quality requirements and were open for swimming more than 99 percent ofthe time last summer. These results show that Marylanders continue to enjoy healthy beaches in their neighborhoods, along the Chesapeake Bay and in Ocean City.

The College and Career Readiness and College Completion Act of 2013 (CCR-CCA) established several requirements designed to increase college and career readiness as well as degree completion in Maryland. With a rapidly changing economy and a focus on increasing the percent of young adults with postsecondary degrees, the intent of the Act is to reduce or eliminate the need for students to enroll in remedial courses in college. Students, who enter college prepared, typically benefit from improved persistence and are more likely to complete a degree.
