Background: The coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic significantly affected management of cardiovascular disease around the world. The effect of the pandemic on volume of cardiovascular diagnostic procedures is not known. Objectives: This study sought to evaluate the effects of the early phase of the COVID-19 pandemic on cardiovascular diagnostic procedures and safety practices in Asia. Methods: The International Atomic Energy Agency conducted a worldwide survey to assess changes in cardiovascular procedure volume and safety practices caused by COVID-19. Testing volumes were reported for March 2020 and April 2020 and were compared to those from March 2019. Data from 180 centers across 33 Asian countries were grouped into 4 subregions for comparison. Results: Procedure volumes decreased by 47% from March 2019 to March 2020, showing recovery from March 2020 to April 2020 in Eastern Asia, particularly in China. The majority of centers cancelled outpatient activities and increased time per study. Practice changes included implementing physical distancing and restricting visitors. Although COVID testing was not commonly performed, it was conducted in one-third of facilities in Eastern Asia. The most severe reductions in procedure volumes were observed in lower-income countries, where volumes decreased 81% from March 2019 to April 2020. Conclusions: The COVID-19 pandemic in Asia caused significant reductions in cardiovascular diagnostic procedures, particularly in low-income countries. Further studies on effects of COVID-19 on cardiovascular outcomes and changes in care delivery are warranted.

Psychometrically sound instruments that assess temporal dynamics of creative abilities are limited. The Ambulatory Battery of Creativity (ABC) is designed to assess creative ideation performance multiple times in everyday life and was proven to capture the intra-individual dynamic of creative abilities reliably and validly. The present ambulatory study aimed to replicate and extend the psychometric evidence of the novel ABC. Sixty-nine participants worked on the ABC during a 5-day ambulatory assessment protocol. Each day, participants completed six randomly presented items of the verbal and the figural ABC. Matching previous psychometric analyses, the results indicated good between-person (≥0.80) and good within-person (≥0.72) reliability. Furthermore, evidence for between-person and within-person validity of the ABC was obtained. Performance in the verbal and the figural ABC were interrelated and correlated with an independent measure of creative potential. The verbal ABC was further associated with openness, self-reported creative behavior, creative activities, and creative achievements, thus providing additional evidence of construct validity, especially for the verbal ABC. Finally, the verbal and the figural ABC yielded convincing within-person validity: Longer response times and higher subjective originality ratings were associated with more original ideas. This replication and extension of the ABC’s psychometric properties indicates that it enables a reliable and valid assessment of moment-to-moment fluctuations of creative ideation abilities in everyday life, which may facilitate the investigation of exciting new research questions related to dynamic aspects of creative ability.

PSP is a pathologically defined neurodegenerative tauopathy with a variety of clinical presentations including typical Richardson's syndrome and other variant PSP syndromes. A large body of neuroimaging research has been conducted over the past two decades, with many studies proposing different structural MRI and molecular PET/SPECT biomarkers for PSP. These include measures of brainstem, cortical and striatal atrophy, diffusion weighted and diffusion tensor imaging abnormalities, [18F] fluorodeoxyglucose PET hypometabolism, reductions in striatal dopamine imaging and, most recently, PET imaging with ligands that bind to tau. Our aim was to critically evaluate the degree to which structural and molecular neuroimaging metrics fulfill criteria for diagnostic biomarkers of PSP. We queried the PubMed, Cochrane, Medline, and PSYCInfo databases for original research articles published in English over the past 20 years using postmortem diagnosis or the NINDS-SPSP criteria as the diagnostic standard from 1996 to 2016. We define a five-level theoretical construct for the utility of neuroimaging biomarkers in PSP, with level 1 representing group-level findings, level 2 representing biomarkers with demonstrable individual-level diagnostic utility, level 3 representing biomarkers for early disease, level 4 representing surrogate biomarkers of PSP pathology, and level 5 representing definitive PSP biomarkers of PSP pathology. We discuss the degree to which each of the currently available biomarkers fit into this theoretical construct, consider the role of biomarkers in the diagnosis of Richardson's syndrome, variant PSP syndromes and autopsy confirmed PSP, and emphasize current shortfalls in the field. © 2017 The Authors. Amplicon based metabarcoding promises rapid and cost-efficient analyses of species composition. However, it is disputed whether abundance estimates can be derived from metabarcoding due to taxon specific PCR amplification biases. PCR-free approaches have been suggested to mitigate this problem, but come with considerable increases in workload and cost. Here, we analyze multilocus datasets of diverse arthropod communities, to evaluate whether amplification bias can be countered by (1) targeting loci with highly degenerate primers or conserved priming sites, (2) increasing PCR template concentration, (3) reducing PCR cycle number or (4) avoiding locus specific amplification by directly sequencing genomic DNA. Amplification bias is reduced considerably by degenerate primers or targeting amplicons with conserved priming sites. Surprisingly, a reduction of PCR cycles did not have a strong effect on amplification bias. The association of taxon abundance and read count was actually less predictable with fewer cycles. Even a complete exclusion of locus specific amplification did not exclude bias. Copy number variation of the target loci may be another explanation for read abundance differences between taxa, which would affect amplicon based and PCR free methods alike. As read abundance biases are taxon specific and predictable, the application of correction factors allows abundance estimates.

- Abstract
Abnormal alpha‐synuclein (αSyn) and iron accumulation in the brain play an important role in Parkinson's disease (PD). Herein, we aim to visualize αSyn inclusions and iron deposition in the brains of M83 (A53T) mouse models of PD in vivo. The fluorescent pyrimidoindole derivative THK‐565 probe was characterized by means of recombinant fibrils and brains from 10‐ to 11‐month‐old M83 mice. Concurrent wide‐field fluorescence and volumetric multispectral optoacoustic tomography (vMSOT) imaging were subsequently performed in vivo. Structural and susceptibility weighted imaging (SWI) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at 9.4 T as well as scanning transmission x‐ray microscopy (STXM) were performed to characterize the iron deposits in the perfused brains. Immunofluorescence and Prussian blue staining were further performed on brain slices to validate the detection of αSyn inclusions and iron deposition. THK‐565 showed increased fluorescence upon binding to recombinant αSyn fibrils and αSyn inclusions in post‐mortem brain slices from patients with PD and M83 mice. Administration of THK‐565 in M83 mice showed higher cerebral retention at 20 and 40 min post‐intravenous injection by wide‐field fluorescence compared to nontransgenic littermate mice, in congruence with the vMSOT findings. SWI/phase images and Prussian blue indicated the accumulation of iron deposits in the brains of M83 mice, presumably in the Fe3+ form, as evinced by the STXM results. In conclusion, we demonstrated in vivo mapping of αSyn by means of noninvasive epifluorescence and vMSOT imaging and validated the results by targeting the THK‐565 label and SWI/STXM identification of iron deposits in M83 mouse brains ex vivo. - Abstract
The study aimed to investigate the feasibility of attenuation imaging (ATI) measurements using a linear probe on healthy volunteers and compare measurements with the conventional convex probe. Attenuation imaging measurements of the liver tissue were taken using ultrasound with a convex and a linear probe in 33 volunteers by two examining doctors, and the measurements were repeated 4-5 weeks later by one of them. The ATI values for the linear probe were in the range of the values for the convex probe for both examiners. Measurements did not change significantly for 32 out of 33 volunteers after 4-5 weeks when using the linear probe. The size of the region of interest (ROI) only impacted the ATI values for the convex probe; it did not affect the values taken with the linear probe. Healthy volunteers were measured, and their attenuation values were compared to those from a convex probe, commonly used in steatosis evaluation. When both probes were positioned in the same liver area, they showed good agreement in attenuation values, though depth significantly affected the measurements, with both probes providing different values at different depths. The study's results aligned with previous research using the same system. Operator A and B's results were compared, demonstrating similar ranges of values for both probes. The linear probe has been demonstrated to allow for superficial measurements and attain ATI values in line with that of the convex probe in the liver.

- Abstract
There have been studies showing attenuation imaging (ATI) with ultrasound as an approach to diagnose liver diseases such as steatosis or cirrhosis. So far, this technique has only been used on a convex probe. The goal of the study was to investigate the feasibility of ATI measurements using the linear array on a canon Aplio i800 scanner on certified phantoms. Three certified liver tissue attenuation phantoms were measured in five different positions using a linear probe. The effects of positioning and depth were explored and compared. The values were compared to the certified expected value for each phantom as well as the different measurement values for each measurement position. The ATI measurements on phantoms showed significant effect for the different probe positions and region of interest (ROI) depths. Values taken in the center with the probe perpendicular to the phantom were closest to certified values. Median values at 2.5-4.5 cm depth for phantoms 1 and 2 and 0.5-2.5 cm for phantom 3 were comparable with certified values. Measurements taken at a depth greater than 6 cm in any position were the least representative of the certified values (p-value < 0.01) and had the widest range throughout the different sessions. ATI measurements can be performed with the linear probe in phantoms; however, careful consideration should be given to depth dependency, as it can significantly affect measurement values. Remaining measurements at various depths within the 0.5-6.0 cm range showed deviation from the certified values of approximately 25%.

Abstract Ecological context—the biotic and abiotic environment, along with its influence on population mixing dynamics and individual susceptibility—is thought to have major bearing on epidemic outcomes. However, direct comparisons of wildlife disease events in contrasting ecological contexts are often confounded by concurrent differences in host genetics, exposure histories, or pathogen strains. Here, we compare disease dynamics of a Mycoplasma ovipneumoniae spillover event that affected bighorn sheep populations in two contrasting ecological contexts. One event occurred on the herd's home range near the Rio Grande Gorge in New Mexico, while the other occurred in a captive facility at Hardware Ranch in Utah. While data collection regimens varied, general patterns of antibody signal strength and symptom emergence were conserved between the two sites. Symptoms appeared in the captive setting an average of 12.9 days postexposure, average time to seroconversion was 24.9 days, and clinical signs peaked at approximately 36 days postinfection. These patterns were consistent with serological testing and subsequent declines in symptom intensity in the free‐ranging herd. At the captive site, older animals exhibited more severe declines in body condition and loin thickness, higher symptom burdens, and slower antibody response to the pathogen than younger animals. Younger animals were more likely than older animals to clear infection by the time of sampling at both sites. The patterns presented here suggest that environment may not be a major determinant of epidemiological outcomes in the bighorn sheep—M. ovipneumoniae system, elevating the possibility that host‐ or pathogen‐factors may be responsible for observed variation.

Abstract Two covalently linked triisopropylsilyl-ethynylated phenazinothiadiazoles were prepared through condensation of a spirocyclic and a bicyclic tetraketone with a 5,6-diaminobenzothiadiazole. The spirobisindene- and the ethanoanthracene-based linkers render the electron acceptors amorphous in thin films. The optoelectronic properties of the non-conjugated dimers are indistinguishable from that of the crystalline monomer. Bulk heterojunction solar cells were prepared with power conversion efficiencies peaking at 1.6%. The choice of linker neither influenced optical and electrochemical properties nor device performance.

Abstract Homoconjugation is a phenomenon discussed for various π-systems where classical conjugation is broken by e.g. methylene units but still a stabilization by electronic communication exists. In this respect, triptycene with its rigid C3 symmetric geometry is an ideal scaffold to study this phenomenon. Although several studies based on triptycene strengthen the hypothesis of homoconjugation, in all described cases the electronic communication through space relies on different π-blades. Here, two triptycenes are presented having the exact same π-extended chromophore, but differently annulated to the bicyclic core. Both compounds were investigated by spectroscopic as well as computational means and compared with the corresponding model compound, elucidating the influence of the attachment site to the triptycene core on potential homoconjugation.

Objectives: Measurement location and patient state can impact noninvasive liver assessment and change clinical staging in ultrasound examinations. Research into differences exists for Shear Wave Speed (SWS) and Attenuation Imaging (ATI), but not for Shear Wave Dispersion (SWD). The aim of this study is to assess the effect of breathing phase, liver lobe, and prandial state on SWS, SWD, and ATI ultrasound measurements. Methods: Two experienced examiners performed SWS, SWD, and ATI measurements in 20 healthy volunteers using a Canon Aplio i800 system. Measurements were taken in the recommended condition (right lobe, following expiration, fasting state), as well as (a) following inspiration, (b) in the left lobe, and (c) in a nonfasting state. Results: SWS and SWD measurements were strongly correlated (r = 0.805, p < 0.001). Mean SWS was 1.34 ± 0.13 m/s in the recommended measurement position and did not change significantly under any condition. Mean SWD was 10.81 ± 2.05 m/s/kHz in the standard condition and significantly increased to 12.18 ± 1.41 m/s/kHz in the left lobe. Individual SWD measurements in the left lobe also had the highest average coefficient of variation (19.68%). No significant differences were found for ATI. Conclusion: Breathing and prandial state did not significantly affect SWS, SWD, and ATI values. SWS and SWD measurements were strongly correlated. SWD measurements in the left lobe showed a higher individual measurement variability. Interobserver agreement was moderate to good.

The structural and electronic properties of the dimethylmethylene‐bridged P‐heterotriangulene have been systematically modulated by functionalization of its phosphorus center. The optoelectronic properties of the obtained derivatives in solution were characterized by UV/Vis absorption and emission spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry and 31P NMR spectroscopy. The solid state structures were analyzed by X‐ray crystallography. The experimental results were corroborated by density functional theory calculations which revealed the crucial influence of the axial substitution on the bowl‐shaped geometry of the phosphorus‐centered polycyclic scaffold, which is proportional to the s‐character of the P−X bond. The advantage of the bowl‐shaped P‐heterotriangulene scaffold was demonstrated by successful co‐crystallization with fullerene C60. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: FAP radiopharmaceuticals show promise for cancer diagnosis; however, their limited tumor residency hinders treatment. This study compared two FAPi derivatives, DOTA.SA.FAPi and DOTAGA.(SA.FAPi)
2 , labeled with gallium-68 and lutetium-177, aiming to determine an optimum combination for creating theranostic pairs. Methods: The radiotracers were studied for lipophilicity, binding to human serum proteins, and binding to human cancerassociated fibroblasts (CAFs) in vitro, including saturation and internalization/externalization studies. PET/SPECT/CT and biodistribution studies were conducted in PC3 and U87MG xenografts for [68 Ga]Ga-DOTA.SA.FAPi and [68 Ga]Ga-DOTAGA.(SA.FAPi)2 . [177 Lu]Lu-DOTA.SA.FAPi and [177 Lu]Lu-DOTAGA.(SA.FAPi)2 , were evaluated in PC3 xenografts. Biodistribution studies of [68 Ga]Ga-DOTA.SA.FAPi were performed in healthy male and female mice. Results: All radiotracers exhibited strong binding to FAP. Their internalization rate was fast while only [177 Lu]LuDOTAGA.(SA.FAPi)2 was retained longer in CAFs. [68 Ga]Ga-DOTAGA.(SA.FAPi)2 and [177 Lu]LuDOTAGA.(SA.FAPi)2 displayed elevated lipophilicity and affinity for human serum proteins compared to [68 Ga]Ga-DOTA.SA.FAPi and [177 Lu]Lu-DOTA.SA.FAPi. In vivo studies revealed slower washout of [68 Ga]Ga-DOTAGA.(SA.FAPi)2 within 3 h compared to [68 Ga]Ga-DOTA.SA.FAPi. The tumor-to-tissue ratios of [68 Ga]Ga-DOTAGA.(SA.FAPi)2 versus [68 Ga]Ga-DOTA.SA.FAPi did not exhibit any significant differences. [177 Lu]Lu-DOTAGA.(SA.FAPi)2 maintained a significant tumor uptake even after 96 h p.i. compared to [177 Lu]Lu-DOTA.SA.FAPi. Conclusions: Dimeric compounds hold promise for therapy, while monomers are better suited for diagnostics. Finding the right combination is essential for effective disease management. Purpose: Long axial field-of-view (LAFOV) positron emission tomography (PET) systems allow to image all major organs with one bed position, which is particularly useful for acquiring whole-body dynamic data using short-lived radioisotopes like
82 Rb. Methods: We determined the absorbed dose in target organs of three subjects (29, 40, and 57 years old) using two different methods, i.e., MIRD and voxel dosimetry. The subjects were injected with 407.0 to 419.61 MBq of [82 Rb]Cl and were scanned dynamically for 7 min with a LAFOV PET/CT scanner. Results: Using the MIRD formalism and voxel dosimetry, the absorbed dose ranged from 1.84 to 2.78 μGy/MBq (1.57 to 3.92 μGy/MBq for voxel dosimetry) for the heart wall, 2.76 to 5.73 μGy/MBq (3.22 to 5.37 μGy/MBq for voxel dosimetry) for the kidneys, and 0.94 to 1.88 μGy/MBq (0.98 to 1.92 μGy/MBq for voxel dosimetry) for the lungs. The total body effective dose lied between 0.50 and 0.76 μSv/MBq. Conclusion: Our study suggests that the radiation dose associated with [82 Rb]Cl PET/CT can be assessed by means of dynamic LAFOV PET and that it is lower compared to literature values. Purpose: Evaluation of
90 Y liver radioembolization post-treatment clinical data using a whole-body Biograph Vision Quadra PET/CT to investigate the potential of protocol optimization in terms of scan time and dosimetry. Methods: 17 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma with median (IQR) injected activity 2393 (1348–3298) MBq were included. Pre-treatment dosimetry plan was based on99m Tc-MAA SPECT/CT with Simplicit90Y™ and post-treatment validation with Quadra using Simplicit90Y™ and HERMIA independently. Regarding the image analysis, mean and peak SNR, the coefficient of variation (COV) and lesion-to-background ratio (LBR) were evaluated. For the post-treatment dosimetry validation, the mean tumor, whole liver and lung absorbed dose evaluation was performed using Simplicit90Y and HERMES. Images were reconstructed with 20-, 15-, 10-, 5- and 1- min sinograms with 2, 4, 6 and 8 iterations. Wilcoxon signed rank test was used to show statistical significance (p < 0.05). Results: There was no difference of statistical significance between 20- and 5- min reconstructed times for the peak SNR, COV and LBR. In addition, there was no difference of statistical significance between 20- and 1- min reconstructed times for all dosimetry metrics. Lung dosimetry showed consistently lower values than the expected. Tumor absorbed dose based on Simplicit90Y™ was similar to the expected while HERMES consistently underestimated significantly the measured tumor absorbed dose. Finally, there was no difference of statistical significance between expected and measured tumor, whole liver and lung dose for all reconstruction times. Conclusion: In this study we evaluated, in terms of image quality and dosimetry, whole-body PET clinical images of patients after having been treated with90 Y microspheres radioembolization for liver cancer. Compared to the 20-min standard scan, the simulated 5-min reconstructed images provided equal image peak SNR and noise behavior, while performing also similarly for post-treatment dosimetry of tumor, whole liver and lung absorbed doses. The homogeneously catalyzed Guerbet upgrading of ethanol to butanol can be modulated by the application of partial H2 pressure before the reaction. Ruthenium(II) PNP pincer complexes with methylene‐extended acridine‐based ligands and singly‐chelated ruthenium(II) complexes with PN ligands perform best at very low catalyst loadings and upon the application of catalyst‐specific pre‐reaction partial H2 pressure. The combination of ruthenium(II) PNP pincer complexes and manganese(I) pincer complexes with MACHO‐type PNP ligands allows for even lower ruthenium loadings while retaining low base load and consumption, thus enabling high space‐time yields, catalyst productivity and recyclability. Mechanistically, Mn is proposed to stabilize coordinatively unsaturated Ru species and allow coordination of ethoxide to Ru instead of attacking the electrophilic ligand backbone based on NMR spectroscopy and X‐ray crystallography. Tau pathology and its spatial propagation in Alzheimer's disease (AD) play crucial roles in the neurodegenerative cascade leading to dementia. However, the underlying mechanisms linking tau spreading to glucose metabolism remain elusive. To address this, we aimed to examine the association between pathologic tau aggregation, functional connectivity, and cascading glucose metabolism and further explore the underlying interplay mechanisms. In this prospective cohort study, we enrolled 79 participants with 18F‐Florzolotau positron emission tomography (PET), 18F‐fluorodeoxyglucose PET, resting‐state functional, and anatomical magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images in the hospital‐based Shanghai Memory Study. We employed generalized linear regression and correlation analyses to assess the associations between Florzolotau accumulation, functional connectivity, and glucose metabolism in whole‐brain and network‐specific manners. Causal mediation analysis was used to evaluate whether functional connectivity mediates the association between pathologic tau and cascading glucose metabolism. We examined 22 normal controls and 57 patients with AD. In the AD group, functional connectivity was associated with Florzolotau covariance (β =.837, r = 0.472, p <.001) and glucose covariance (β = 1.01, r = 0.499, p <.001). Brain regions with higher tau accumulation tend to be connected to other regions with high tau accumulation through functional connectivity or metabolic connectivity. Mediation analyses further suggest that functional connectivity partially modulates the influence of tau accumulation on downstream glucose metabolism (mediation proportion: 49.9%). Pathologic tau may affect functionally connected neurons directly, triggering downstream glucose metabolism changes. This study sheds light on the intricate relationship between tau pathology, functional connectivity, and downstream glucose metabolism, providing critical insights into AD pathophysiology and potential therapeutic targets.
