Abstract: We report evidence for B{sup 0}{yields}D{sup +}D{sup -} and the first observation of the decay modes B{sup -}{yields}D{sup 0}D{sup -} and B{sup -}{yields}D{sup 0}D{sup *-} based on a sample of 152x10{sup 6} BB events collected by the Belle detector at KEKB. The branching fractions for B{sup 0}{yields}D{sup +}D{sup -}, B{sup -}{yields}D{sup 0}D{sup -}, and B{sup -}{yields}D{sup 0}D{sup *-} are found to be (1.91{+-}0.51{+-}0.30)x10{sup -4} (4.83{+-}0.78{+-}0.58)x10{sup -4}, and (4.57{+-}0.71{+-}0.56)x10{sup -4}, respectively. Charge asymmetries in the B{sup -}{yields}D{sup 0}D{sup -} and B{sup -}{yields}D{sup 0}D{sup *-} channels are consistent with zero.

Abstract: Using 281 fb-1 of data from the Belle experiment recorded at or near the (4S) resonance, we have measured the rates of the "wrong-sign" decays D0 --K+ pi- pi0 and D0 --K+ pi- pi+ pi- relative to those of the Cabibbo-favored decays D0 --K- pi+ pi0 and D0 --K- pi+ pi+ pi-. These wrong-sign decays proceed via a doubly Cabibbo-suppressed amplitude or via D0-D0 mixing; the latter has not yet been observed. We obtain R(WS)(K pi pi0) = [0.229 +/- 0.015(stat)(+0.013)(-0.009)(syst)]% and R(WS)(K3pi) = [0.320 +/- 0.018(stat)(+0.018)(0.013)(syst)]%. The CP asymmetries are measured to be -0.006 +/- 0.053 and -0.018 +/- 0.044 for the K+ pi- pi0 and K+ pi- pi+ pi- final states, respectively.

Abstract: We present new measurements of CP-violation parameters in B0→K0, K+K-KS0, f0(980)KS0, η′KS0, ωKS0, and KS0π0 decays based on a sample of 275×106 BB pairs collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric e+e- collider. One neutral B meson is fully reconstructed in one of the specified decay channels, and the flavor of the accompanying B meson is identified from its decay products. CP-violation parameters for each of the decay modes are obtained from the asymmetries in the distributions of the proper-time intervals between the two B decays. The combined result for the B0→K0, K+K-KS0, f0(980)KS0, η′KS0, ωKS0, KS0π0, and previously reported KS0KS0KS0 decays differs from the SM expectation by 2.4 standard deviations. © 2005 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present a new measurement of CP-violation parameters in B(0)-->K(0)(S)pi(0)gamma decay based on a sample of 275 x 10(6) BB pairs collected at the Gamma(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric e(+)e(-) collider. One of the B mesons is fully reconstructed in the B(0)-->K(0)(S)pi(0)gamma decay. The flavor of the accompanying B meson is identified from its decay products. CP-violation parameters are obtained from the asymmetry in the distribution of the proper time intervals between the two B decays. We obtain SK(0)(S)(pi(0)gamma) = -0.58(+0.46)(-0.38)(stat) +/- 0.11(syst) and AK(0)(S)(pi(0)gamma) = +0.03 +/- 0.34(stat) +/- 0.11(syst), for the K(0)(S)pi(0) invariant mass covering the full range up to 1.8 GeV/c2. We also measure the CP-violation parameters for the case B(0)-->K(*0)(-->K(0)(S)pi(0))gamma and obtain S(K(*0)gamma) = -0.79(+0.63)(-0.50)(stat) +/- 0.10(syst) for A(K(*0)gamma) fixed at 0.

Abstract: We report on the first observation of D10(2420)→D0π-π+ and D1+(2420)→D+π-π+ decays (where the contribution from the dominant known D1→D*π decay mode is excluded) in the B-→D10π- and B0→D1+π- decays, respectively. The observation is based on 15.2×107 BB events collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB collider. We also set 90% confidence level upper limits for the branching fractions of the four following decays: B-→D10π-, D10→D *0π-π+, B0→D1+π-, D1+→D*+π-π+, B-→D2*0(2460)π-, D2*0→D*0π-π+, B0→D2*+(2460)π-, D2*+→D*+π-π+. © 2005 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present measurements of decay amplitudes and triple-product correlations in B-->phiK* decays based on 253 fb(-1) of data recorded at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e(+)e(-) storage ring. The decay amplitudes for the three different helicity states are determined from the angular distributions of final-state particles. The longitudinal polarization amplitudes are found to be 0.45 +/- 0.05 +/- 0.02 for B0-->phiK(*0) and 0.52 +/- 0.08 +/- 0.03 for B+ -->phiK(*+) decays. CP- and T-odd CP-violating triple-product asymmetries are measured to be consistent with zero.

Abstract: Using a sample of 152 x 10(6) BB pairs accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider, we study the decay mechanism of three-body charmed decay B- --Lambdac+ ppi-. The intermediate two-body decay B---Sigmac (2455)0 p is observed for the first time with a branching fraction of (3.7 +/- 0.7 +/- 0.4 +/- 1.0) x 10(-5) and a statistical significance of 8.4sigma. We also observe a low-mass enhancement in the (Lambdac+p) system, which can be parametrized as a Breit-Wigner function with a mass of (3.35(-0.02)(+0.01) +/-0.02) GeV/c2 and a width of (0.07(-0.03)(+0.04) +/-0.04) GeV/c2. We measure its branching fraction to be (3.9(-0.7)(+0.8) +/- 0.4 +/- 1.0) x 10(-5) with a statistical significance of 6.2sigma. The errors are statistical, systematic, and that of the Lambdac+--pK- pi+ decay branching fraction.

Abstract: We report measurements of B to pseudoscalar-pseudoscalar decays with at least one {eta} meson in the final state using 140 fb{sup -1} of data collected by the Belle detector at KEKB e{sup +}e{sup -} collider. We observe the decay B{sup +}{yields}{eta}{pi}{sup +} and find evidence of B{sup +}{yields}{eta}K{sup +}; the measured branching fractions are B(B{sup +}{yields}{eta}{pi}{sup +})=(4.8{sub -0.7}{sup +0.8}(stat){+-}0.3(sys))x10{sup -6} and B(B{sup +}{yields}{eta}K{sup +})=(2.1{+-}0.6(stat){+-}0.2(sys))x10{sup -6}. Their corresponding CP violating asymmetries are measured to be 0.07{+-}0.15(stat){+-}0.03(sys) for {eta}{pi}{sup {+-}} and -0.49{+-}0.31(stat){+-}0.07(sys) for {eta}K{sup {+-}}. No significant signals are found for neutral B{yields}{eta}h decays. We report the following upper limits on branching fractions at the 90% confidence level: B(B{sup 0}{yields}{eta}K{sup 0})

Abstract: We report results on the Dalitz analysis of three-body charmless B+ -> K+ pi(+) pi(-) and B+-> K+ K+ K- decays based on a 140 fb(-1) data sample collected with the Belle detector. Measurements of branching fractions for quasi-two-body decays to scalar-pseudoscalar states: B+ -> f(0)(980)K+, B+ -> K-0(*)(1430)(0)pi(+), and to vector-pseudoscalar states: B+ -> K-*(892)(0)pi(+), B+ -> rho(0)K(+), B+ -> phi K+ are presented. Upper limits on decays to some pseudoscalar-tensor final states are reported. We also report the measurement of the B+ -> chi(c0)K(+) branching fraction in two chi(c0) decays channels: chi(c0) -> pi(+)pi(-) and chi(c0) -> K+K-.

Abstract: We present a new measurement of the time-dependent CP-violating parameters in B(0)--pi(+)pi(-) decays with 275 x 10(6) BB pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider operating at the Gamma(4S) resonance. We find 666 +/- 43 B(0) --pi(+)pi(-) events and measure the CP-violating parameters: S(pipi) = -0.67 +/- 0.16(stat) +/- 0.06(syst) and A(pipi) = +0.56 +/- 0.12(stat) +/- 0.06(syst). We find evidence for large direct CP violation with a significance greater than 4 standard deviations for any S(pipi) value. Using isospin relations, we obtain 95.4% confidence intervals for the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa quark-mixing matrix angle phi(2) of 0 degreephiv(2)19 degrees and 71 degreesphi(2)180 degrees.

Abstract: CP violation in B--J/PsiK* decays is studied using an angular analysis in a data sample of 253 fb(-1) recorded with the Belle detector at the KEKB e(+)e(-) collider. The flavor separated measurements of the decay amplitudes indicate no evidence for direct CP violation. T-odd CP violation is studied using the asymmetries in triple product correlations, and the results are consistent with the standard model null predictions. The time-dependent angular analysis gives the following values of CP-violating parameters: sin(2phi(1) = 0.24 +/- 0.31 +/- 0.05 and cos(2phi(1)=0.56 +/- 0.79 +/- 0.11.

Abstract: We present a precise measurement of the standard model $CP$-violation parameter $\mathrm{sin} 2{\ensuremath{\phi}}_{1}$, the direct $CP$ violation parameter $|\ensuremath{\lambda}|$, the lifetimes of charged and neutral $B$ mesons and their ratio, and the ${B}^{0}$-${\overline{B}}^{0}$ mixing parameter $\ensuremath{\Delta}{m}_{d}$ based on a sample of $152\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}$ $B\overline{B}$ pairs collected at the $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collider. One of two $B$ mesons is fully reconstructed in a $CP$-eigenstate or a flavor-eigenstate decay channel. The flavor of the accompanying $B$ meson is identified from its decay products. From the distributions of the time interval between the two $B$ meson decay points, we obtain $\mathrm{sin} 2{\ensuremath{\phi}}_{1}=0.728\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.056(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.023(\mathrm{syst})$, $|\ensuremath{\lambda}|=1.007\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.041(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.033(\mathrm{syst})$, ${\ensuremath{\tau}}_{{B}^{0}}=[1.534\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.008(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.010(\mathrm{syst})]\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{ps}$, ${\ensuremath{\tau}}_{{B}^{+}}=[1.635\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.011(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.011(\mathrm{syst})]\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{ps}$, ${\ensuremath{\tau}}_{{B}^{+}}/{\ensuremath{\tau}}_{{B}^{0}}=1.066\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.008(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.008(\mathrm{syst})$ and $\ensuremath{\Delta}{m}_{d}=[0.511\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.005(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.006{(\mathrm{syst})]\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{ps}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$. The results for $\mathrm{sin} 2{\ensuremath{\phi}}_{1}$ and $|\ensuremath{\lambda}|$ are consistent with the standard model expectations. The significance of the observed deviation from unity in the lifetime ratio exceeds 5 standard deviations.

Abstract: We present a time-dependent analysis of CP violation in B0-->rho(+/-)pi(-/+) decays based on a 140 fb(-1) data sample collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at KEKB. We obtain the charge asymmetry A(rhopi)(CP)=-0.16+/-0.10(stat)+/-0.02(syst). An unbinned maximum-likelihood fit to the Deltat distributions yields C(rhopi)=0.25+/-0.17(stat)+0.02-0.06(syst), DeltaC(rhopi)=0.38+/-0.18(stat)+0.02-0.04(syst), S(rhopi)=-0.28+/-0.23(stat)+0.10-0.08(syst), and DeltaS(rhopi)=-0.30+/-0.24(stat)+/-0.09(syst). The direct CP violation parameters for B-->rho(+)pi(-) and B-->rho(-)pi(+) decays are A(+-)(rhopi)=-0.02+/-0.16(stat)+0.05-0.02(syst) and A(-+)(rhopi)=-0.53+/-0.29(stat)+0.09-0.04(syst).

Abstract: We report the observation of the radiative decay ${B}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{1}(1270{)}^{+}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ using a data sample of $140\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ taken at the $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collider. We find the branching fraction to be $\mathcal{B}\mathbf{(}{B}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{1}(1270{)}^{+}\ensuremath{\gamma}\mathbf{)}=\mathbf{(}4.3\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.9(\mathrm{stat}.)\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.9(\mathrm{syst}.)\mathbf{)}\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}5}$ with a significance of $7.3\ensuremath{\sigma}$. We find no significant signal for ${B}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{1}(1400{)}^{+}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ and set an upper limit $\mathcal{B}\mathbf{(}{B}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{1}(1400{)}^{+}\ensuremath{\gamma}\mathbf{)}l1.5\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}5}$ at the 90% confidence level. We also measure inclusive branching fractions for ${B}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ and ${B}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ in the mass range $1\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}/{c}^{2}l{M}_{{K}^{+(0)}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}}l2\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}/{c}^{2}$.

Abstract: We present a measurement of CP-violation parameters in the B0 --K(s)0K(s)0K(s)0 decay based on a sample of 275 x 10(6) BB pairs collected at the upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric e+e- collider. One neutral B meson is fully reconstructed in the decay B0 --K(s)0K(s)0K(s)0, and the flavor of the accompanying B meson is identified from its decay products. CP-violation parameters are obtained from the asymmetry in the distributions of the proper-time interval between the two B decays: S = +1.26 +/- 0.68(stat) +/- 0.20(syst) and [symbol: see text] = +0.54 +/- 0.34(stat) +/- 0.09(syst).

Abstract: We present a new measurement of CP-violation parameters in B(0)--K(0)(S)pi(0)gamma decay based on a sample of 275 x 10(6) BB pairs collected at the Gamma(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric e(+)e(-) collider. One of the B mesons is fully reconstructed in the B(0)--K(0)(S)pi(0)gamma decay. The flavor of the accompanying B meson is identified from its decay products. CP-violation parameters are obtained from the asymmetry in the distribution of the proper time intervals between the two B decays. We obtain SK(0)(S)(pi(0)gamma) = -0.58(+0.46)(-0.38)(stat) +/- 0.11(syst) and AK(0)(S)(pi(0)gamma) = +0.03 +/- 0.34(stat) +/- 0.11(syst), for the K(0)(S)pi(0) invariant mass covering the full range up to 1.8 GeV/c2. We also measure the CP-violation parameters for the case B(0)--K(*0)(--K(0)(S)pi(0))gamma and obtain S(K(*0)gamma) = -0.79(+0.63)(-0.50)(stat) +/- 0.10(syst) for A(K(*0)gamma) fixed at 0.

Abstract: We report evidence for B(0) --D(0)D(-) and the first observation of the decay modes B(-) --D(0)D(-) and B(-) --D(0)D(*-) based on a sample of 152 x 10(6) BB events collected by the Belle detector at KEKB. The branching fractions for B(0) --D(+) D(-), B---D(0)D(-), and B--D(0)D(*-) are found to be (1.91 +/- 0.51 +/- 0.30) x10(-4), (4.83 +/- 0.78 +/- 0.58) x 10(-4), and (4.57 +/- 0.71 +/- 0.56) x 10(-4), respectively. Charge asymmetries in the B---D(0)D(-) and B(-) --D(0)D(*-) channels are consistent with zero.

Abstract: The decays ${\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}_{sJ}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ and ${\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}_{sJ}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ are studied for the first time. A significant signal is observed in the ${\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}_{sJ}^{*}(2317{)}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ decay channel with $\mathcal{B}\mathbf{(}{\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}_{sJ}^{*}(2317{)}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}\mathbf{)}\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}\mathcal{B}\mathbf{(}{D}_{sJ}^{*}(2317{)}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}_{s}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}\mathbf{)}=({5.3}_{\ensuremath{-}1.3}^{+1.5}\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.7\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.4)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}5}$. No signals are observed in the ${\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}_{sJ}^{*}(2317{)}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$, ${\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}_{sJ}(2460{)}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}$, and ${\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}_{sJ}(2460{)}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ decay modes, and upper limits are obtained. The analysis is based on a data set of $140\text{ }{\mathrm{f}\mathrm{b}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ collected by the Belle experiment at the asymmetric ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collider KEKB.

Abstract: We report improved measurements of the partial rate asymmetry (Acp) in B -> h h decays with 140fb^-1 of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. Here h stands for a charged or neutral pion or kaon and in total five decay modes are included: K-+ pi+-, K0s pi-+, K-+ pi0, pi-+ pi0 and K0s pi0. The flavor of the last decay mode is determined from the accompanying B meson. Using a data sample 4.7 times larger than that of our previous measurement, we find Acp(K-+ pi+-) -0.088+-0.035+-0.013, 2.4 sigma from zero. Results for other decay modes are also presented.

Abstract: We present the first measurement of pseudorapidity distribution of photons in the region 2.3or = etaor = 3.7 for different centralities in Au+Au collisions at square root of (S(NN)) = 62.4 GeV. We find that the photon yield scales with the number of participating nucleons at all collision centralities studied. The pseudorapidity distribution of photons, dominated by pi0 decays, has been compared to those of charged pions, photons, and inclusive charged particles from heavy-ion and nucleon-nucleon collisions at various energies. The photon production has been shown to be consistent with the energy and centrality independent limiting fragmentation scenario.

Abstract: We report the observation of the radiative decay B+--K1(1270)(+) gamma using a data sample of 140 fb(-1) taken at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. We find the branching fraction to be B(B+--K1(1270)(+)gamma)=(4.3+/-0.9(stat.)+/-0.9(syst.))x10(-5) with a significance of 7.3sigma. We find no significant signal for B+--K1(1400)(+)gamma and set an upper limit B(B+--K1(1400)(+)gamma)1.5 x 10(-5) at the 90% confidence level. We also measure inclusive branching fractions for B+--K+pi+pi-gamma and B0--K0pi+pi-gamma in the mass range 1 GeV/c(2)M(K+(0)pi+pi-)2 GeV/c(2).

Abstract: We report a study of the suppressed decays B---[K(+)pi(-)](D)K- and B---[K(+)pi(-)](D)pi(-), where [K(+)pi(-)](D) indicates that the K+pi(-) pair originates from a neutral D meson. These decay modes are sensitive to the unitarity triangle angle varphi(3). We use a data sample containing 275 x 10(6) BB pairs recorded at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e(+)e(-) storage ring. The signal for B---[K(+)pi(-)](D)K- is not statistically significant, and we set a limit r(B)0.27 at 90% confidence level, where r(B) is the magnitude of the ratio of amplitudes |A(B---D 0K-)/A(B---D0K-)|. We observe a signal with 6.4sigma statistical significance in the related mode, B---[K(+)pi(-)](D)pi(-).

Abstract: The decays B0--D+sJK- and B0--D-sJpi+ are studied for the first time. A significant signal is observed in the B0--D*sJ(2317)+K- decay channel with B(B0--D*sJ(2317)+K-) x B(D*sJ(2317)+--D+spi0)=(5.3(+1.5)(-1.3)+/-0.7+/-1.4) x 10(-5). No signals are observed in the B0--D*sJ(2317)-pi+, B0--DsJ(2460)+K-, and B 0--DsJ(2460)-pi+ decay modes, and upper limits are obtained. The analysis is based on a data set of 140 fb(-1) collected by the Belle experiment at the asymmetric e+e- collider KEKB.

Abstract: We report a search for CP-violating asymmetry in B0-->D(*+/-)D-/+ decays. The analysis employs two methods of B0 reconstruction: full and partial. In the full reconstruction method all daughter particles of the B0 are required to be detected; the partial reconstruction technique requires a fully reconstructed D- and only a slow pion from the D(*+)-->D0pi(+)(slow) decay. From a fit to the distribution of the time interval corresponding to the distance between two B meson decay points we calculate the CP-violating parameters and find the significance of nonzero CP asymmetry to be 2.7 standard deviations.

Abstract: The evidence for direct charged particles (CP) violation in the decay B0→K+ π- was investigated with 253 fb-1 of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e + e- collider. 275 x 106 BB pairs were used to observe a B→K±π∓ signal with 2140 ±53 events. Mixing induced CP violation in the B sector was established in b → ccs transitions. The result suggests large interference between tree and penguin diagrams and the existence of final state interactions.

Abstract: We report on the first observation of D0/1(2420)--D0pi- pi+ and D+/1(2420--D+ pi- pi+ decays (where the contribution from the dominant known D1--D*pi decay mode is excluded) in the B- --D0/1pi-) and (-)B0--D+/1pi- decays, respectively. The observation is based on 15.2 x 10(7) B(-)B events collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB collider. We also set 90% confidence level upper limits for the branching fractions of the four following decays: B- --D0/1pi-, D01--D(*0)pi- pi+, (-)B0--D+/1pi-, D+/1--D(*+) pi- pi+, B- --D(*0)2(2460)pi-, D(*0)2 --D(*0) pi- pi+, (-)B0--D(*+)2(2460)pi-, D(*+)2--D(*+)pi- pi+.

Abstract: We present a new analysis of double charmonium production in ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ annihilation. The observation of the processes ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}J/\ensuremath{\psi}{\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}$, $J/\ensuremath{\psi}{\ensuremath{\chi}}_{c0}$, and $J/\ensuremath{\psi}{\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}(2S)$ is confirmed using a data set more than 3 times larger than that of Belle's previous report, and no evidence for the process ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}J/\ensuremath{\psi}J/\ensuremath{\psi}$ is found. We perform an angular analysis for $J/\ensuremath{\psi}{\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}$ production and set an upper limit on the production of $J/\ensuremath{\psi}J/\ensuremath{\psi}$. Processes of the type ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)(c\overline{c}{)}_{\mathrm{r}\mathrm{e}\mathrm{s}}$ have been observed for the first time; their rates are found to be comparable to those of ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}J/\ensuremath{\psi}(c\overline{c}{)}_{\mathrm{r}\mathrm{e}\mathrm{s}}$ processes.

Abstract: We present a measurement of the unitarity triangle angle {phi}{sub 3} using a Dalitz plot analysis of the three-body decay of the neutral D meson from the B{sup {+-}}{yields}D{sup (*)}K{sup {+-}} process. The method employs the interference between D{sup 0} and D{sup 0} to extract both the weak and strong phases. We apply this method to a 140 fb{sup -1} data sample collected by the Belle experiment. The analysis uses the modes B{sup {+-}}{yields}DK{sup {+-}} and B{sup {+-}}{yields}D*K{sup {+-}}, D*{yields}D{pi}{sup 0}, where the neutral D meson decays into K{sub S}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}. We obtain 146 signal candidates for B{sup {+-}}{yields}DK{sup {+-}} and 39 candidates for B{sup {+-}}{yields}D*K{sup {+-}}. From a combined maximum likelihood fit to the B{sup {+-}}{yields}DK{sup {+-}} and B{sup {+-}}{yields}D*K{sup {+-}} modes, we obtain {phi}{sub 3}=77 deg. (+17 deg./-19 deg.)(stat){+-}13 deg. (syst){+-}11 deg. (model). The corresponding 2 standard deviation interval is 26 deg.

Abstract: We present the first evidence of the decay B0 --> rho0 pi0, using 140fb^-1 of data collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e+e- collider. We detect a signal with a significance of 3.5 standard deviations, and measure the branching fraction to be Br(B0 ->- rho0 pi0) = (5.1 +/- 1.6(stat) +/- 0.9(syst))*10^-6.

Abstract: We derive necessary and sufficient conditions for an ordered eventually regular semigroup to be a Dubreil-Jacotin semigroup. We show that an eventually regular Dubreil-Jacotin semigroup has a biggest idempotent. Necessary and sufficient conditions for this biggest idempotent to be a weak middle unit or to be medial are related to the semigroup being naturally ordered and to the set of regular elements being a subsemigroup.

Abstract: We present a time-dependent analysis of CP violation in B0--rho(+/-)pi(-/+) decays based on a 140 fb(-1) data sample collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at KEKB. We obtain the charge asymmetry A(rhopi)(CP)=-0.16+/-0.10(stat)+/-0.02(syst). An unbinned maximum-likelihood fit to the Deltat distributions yields C(rhopi)=0.25+/-0.17(stat)+0.02-0.06(syst), DeltaC(rhopi)=0.38+/-0.18(stat)+0.02-0.04(syst), S(rhopi)=-0.28+/-0.23(stat)+0.10-0.08(syst), and DeltaS(rhopi)=-0.30+/-0.24(stat)+/-0.09(syst). The direct CP violation parameters for B--rho(+)pi(-) and B--rho(-)pi(+) decays are A(+-)(rhopi)=-0.02+/-0.16(stat)+0.05-0.02(syst) and A(-+)(rhopi)=-0.53+/-0.29(stat)+0.09-0.04(syst).

Abstract: We report measurements of time dependent decay rates for $B^0(\bar{B}^0) \to D^{(*)\mp}\pi^{\pm}$ decays and extraction of CP violation parameters containing $\phi_3$. Using fully reconstructed $D^{(*)}\pi$ events from a $140 {\rm fb}^{-1}$ data sample collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance, we obtain the CP violation parameters for $D^* \pi$ and $D \pi$ decays, $2R_{D^{(*)} \pi} \sin (2\phi_1 + \phi_3 \pm \delta_{D^{(*)} \pi})$, where $R_{D^{(*)} \pi}$ is the ratio of the magnitudes of the doubly-Cabibbo-suppressed and Cabibbo-favoured amplitudes, and $\delta_{D^{(*)} \pi}$ is the strong phase difference between them. Under the assumption of $\delta_{D^{(*)} \pi}$ being close to either 0 or $180^{\circ}$, we obtain $|2R_{D^* \pi} \sin (2\phi_1 + \phi_3)| = 0.060 \pm 0.040(\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.019(\mathrm{sys})$ and $|2R_{D \pi} \sin (2\phi_1 + \phi_3)| = 0.061 \pm 0.037(\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.018(\mathrm{sys})$.

Abstract: We report improved measurements of branching fractions for charmless hadronic two-body B meson decays containing an ω meson in the final state. The results are based on a data sample of 78 fb-1 collected on the Y(4S) resonance by the Belle detector. We measure the branching fractions B(B+→ωK+) = (6.5-1.2 +1.3±0.6) × 10-6 and B(B +→ωπ+) = (5.7-1.3 +1.4±0.6) × 10-6. We give 90% confidence upper limits for B(B0→ωK0)

Abstract: The measurements of time-dependent decay rates for B 0(B0) → D(*)∓π ∓ decays and extraction of CP violation parameters containing φ3 were discussed. It was found that a 140 fb-1 data sample, which contained 152 × 106 BB events, was used in the measurement. Charged leptons, pions and kaons were used to identify the flavor of the accompanying B meson. The results show that |2R D*π sin(2φ1 + φ3)| = 0.060 ± 0.040(stat) ± 0.019(syst) can be obtained.

Abstract: The CP asymmetry in the B → Xsγ, where hadronic recoil system Xs is reconstructed, was investigated using pseudoreconstruction technique. Negligible contamination from b → dγ decays was observed, which were expected to have larger CP asymmetry. The qq and BB distributions were obtained from off-resonance data and Monte Carlo (MC) simulation. The results show that 50% error is assigned to Gaussian width and to ratio of the Gaussian and ARGUS function for rare B decays.

Abstract: We report the results of a study of charged B decays to the D(+/-)pi(-/+)pi(-/+) and D(*+/-)pi(-/+)pi(-/+) final states using complete D-(*) reconstruction. The contributions of two-body B-->D**pi decays with narrow (j=3/2) and broad (j=1/2) D** states have been determined and the masses and widths of four D** states have been measured. This is the first observation of the broad P-wave D-0*(0) and D'(0)(1) mesons. The analysis is based on a data sample of 65 million B(B) over bar pairs collected in the Belle experiment.

Abstract: We report a measurement of the branching fraction for the decay B+ --rho(+) pi(0) based on a 140 fb(-1) data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e(+)e(-) collider. We measure the branching fraction B(B(+) --rho(+)pi(0)) = (13.2 +/- 2.3(stat)(+1.4)(-1.9)(syst)) x 10(-6), and the CP-violating asymmetry A(CP)(B-/+ --rho(-/+)pi(0))=0.06 +/- 0.17(stat)(+0.04)(-0.05)(syst).

Abstract: We present the first evidence of the decay B0--rho(0)pi(0), using 140 fb(-1) of data collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e(+)e(-) collider. We detect 15.1+/-4.8 signal events with a significance of 3.5 standard deviations and measure the branching fraction to be B(B0--rho(0)pi(0))=(5.1+/-1.6(stat)+/-0.9(syst))x10(-6).

Abstract: We report measurements of time dependent decay rates for B0(B(0))--D((*)-/+)pi(+/-) decays and extraction of CP violation parameters containing phi(3). Using fully reconstructed D((*))pi events from a 140 fb(-1) data sample collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance, we obtain the CP violation parameters for D(*)pi and Dpi decays, 2R(D((*))pi)sin((2phi(1)+phi(3)+/-delta(D((*))pi)), where R(D((*))pi) is the ratio of the magnitudes of the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed and Cabibbo-favored amplitudes, and delta(D((*))pi) is the strong phase difference between them. Under the assumption of delta(D((*))pi) being close to either 0 degrees or 180 degrees, we obtain |2R(D(*)pi)sin((2phi(1)+phi(3))|=0.060+/-0.040(stat)+/-0.019(syst) and |2R(Dpi)sin((2phi(1)+phi(3))|=0.061+/-0.037(stat)+/-0.018(syst).

Abstract: An ordered pair (e, f) of idempotents of a regular semigroup is called a skew pair if ef is not idempotent whereas fe is idempotent. We have shown previously that there are four distinct types of skew pairs of idempotents. Here we consider the smallest regular semigroups that contain precisely one of each of these four types. We show that, to within isomorphism and dualisomorphism, there are six such semigroups and characterise them as quotient semigroups of certain regular Rees matrix semigroups.

Abstract: The Primary Decomposition Theorem shows that for a linear mapping f on a finite-dimensional vector space V there is a basis of V with respect to which f can be represented by a block diagonal matrix. As we have seen, in the special situation where the minimum polynomial of f is a product of distinct linear factors, this matrix is diagonal. We now turn our attention to a slightly more general situation, namely that in which the minimum polynomial of f factorises as a product of linear factors that are not necessarily distinct, i.e. is of the form $$ {m_f} = \mathop \Pi \limits_{i = 1}^k {(X - {\lambda _i})^{ei}} $$ where each e i ≥ 1. This, of course, is always the case when the ground field is ℂ, so the results we shall establish will be valid for all linear mappings on a finite-dimensional complex vector space. To let the cat out of the bag, our specific objective is to show that when the minimum polynomial of f factorises completely there is a basis of V with respect to which the matrix of f is triangular. We recall that a matrix A = [aij] n×n is (upper) triangular if a ij = 0 whenever i > j.
