This study aimed to determine the relationship between leisure satisfaction and social media addiction of university students. The study group of the research was formed by the voluntary participation of 193 students (133 male and 60 female), studying at the School of Physical Education and Sports of Istanbul Gelisim University. In addition to the personal information form, the "Leisure Satisfaction Scale (LSS)" developed by Beard and Raghep (1980) and adapted into Turkish by Gökçe and Orhan (2011), and the "Social Media Addiction Scale (SMAS)" developed by Bakir Aygar and Uzun (2018) were used as data collection tools. After the data showed normal distribution in the Kolmogrov-Smirnov normality test, T-test, ANOVA and Pearson Correlation test were used in the analysis. The level of significance in the study was set at 0.05. In the research findings; gender and age groups of individuals affect their leisure time satisfaction levels; It has also been found that age groups affect social media addiction. As a result, it was determined that leisure satisfaction levels and social media addiction changed according to various variables of university students, and a negative significant relationship was found between leisure satisfaction and social media addiction.

Educational entertainment or edutainment is a popular approach to allow learners experience a fun learning environment while acquiring knowledge. Currently, this approach is widely used and has promising benefits, whereby not only it provides a fun learning environment but also cause learners to hardly notice the learning process. However, as there are a minimum of 2.2 billion people worldwide with vision impairment or blindness, this approach can be a challenging experience for them. It isthusimportant to provide equal opportunities for these members of the community in the teaching and learning environment. Owing to the limited applications available for the visually impaired in virtual edutainment tailored for them, this research aims to design and develop an edutainment application for visually impaired users using a user-centered design. The application allows users to touch 3D objects using Touch by 3DSystems. In addition, sounds and smells will be released from the speaker and olfactory devices, respectively. The usability and satisfaction of users toward this application was tested on the visually impaired as well as blindfolded users using a 7-point Likert scale questionnaire. This questionnaire was constructed in accordance with USE (Usefulness, Satisfaction, and Ease of use) by Lund. A total of 10 participants -- including visually impaired teachers and blindfolded students -- participated in this study. Participants in this study agreed that the proposed application is useful, easy to use, easy to learn, and were satisfied with the application. The average rating of the results out of 7 was 5.92 for usefulness, 5.6 for ease of use, 6.22 for ease of learning, and 6.25 for satisfaction.

This study aimed to examine teachers' satisfaction with and needs for earth science model experiments science textbooks used in primary schools. To this end, 103 primary school teachers participated in an online survey, and five teachers with doctorates in science education theory were interviewed. The findings of the study were as follows. First, primary school teachers in South Korea were highly satisfied with earth science model experiments presented in science textbooks. Second, despite the high satisfaction, there were various reasons why model experiments were inappropriate and difficult to conduct. Third, the teachers wanted to replace the model experiments of earth science that could result in misconceptions, had low success rates, and were time-consuming to prepare. Fourth, when designing earth science model experiments, teachers felt the need to confirm the meaning and accessibility of the model experiments. This study confirmed that model experiments should have a meaning and emulate the facts to help students understand rather than merely imitate.

With the wide application of the OSCE in the field of pharmacy, the development of e-assessment in OSCE is a predictable trend. However, the feasibility of its practical application and the acceptance of examiners who are accustomed to using traditional paper-based methods are worthy of being discussed. The e-assessment system (EAS) was constructed in this study and used in the examination process. Examiner satisfaction and changes in acceptance of EAS were evaluated. Examiners showed high recognition for the advantages of EAS in data processing, but EAS obviously made the examiner more nervous than the paper-based method. After repeated use of the e-OSCE system, the examiner's satisfaction and acceptance significantly improved, which showed that there was a certain correlation between examiner's familiarity with the assessment method and their acceptance. Besides, EAS has great advantages over traditional paper-based methods, and it is feasible in clinical practice examination of pharmacy education.

Online student success is determined by several factors, including learning effectiveness, access (academic, technical, and administrative support), faculty satisfaction, and student satisfaction. These factors are part of the Online Learning Consortium's Pillars of Quality Online Education, which were established to ensure all students are provided a quality education, with high levels of student engagement, instructor feedback and interaction, and experiential learning opportunities. Using Teaching Assistants (TAs) in the virtual classroom is not a traditional practice for most online institutions, but is a strategy that can have a positive impact on these factors. This exploratory research study discusses a TA program that was developed, implemented, and evaluated over 3 years. Fifteen (n = 15) doctoral students were hired to provide teaching support to high-risk courses in the undergraduate programs. Background, recruitment, onboarding, division of course responsibilities, data, and outcomes of the 3-year TA programs are discussed in alignment with the five pillars. Findings suggest the addition of TAs in online education is a potentially useful strategy to improve student learning outcomes, scale, access, and faculty and student satisfaction.

While teacher education programs are required to place preservice teachers in diverse schools/classrooms, the conceptualization and measurement of diversity remains a challenge. One of the primary methods for developing teachers so that they can capably work with diverse student populations is to provide field experiences that place teacher candidates in schools with diverse populations. The purpose of this study was to: (1) describe how a teacher education institution developed a web application to record and calculate diversity of the field practicum placements; and (2) describe how the institution used the placement diversity data to research program improvement and decision making. The results indicated that the diversity level of the practicum placement was positively correlated with some outcomes, such as graduate and employer satisfaction ratings, and negatively correlated with others, like internship outcomes. The data from this study was used to guide program improvement decisions.

The current study aimed at using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to detect the factors affecting the role of faculty members in university colleges for e-learning system (Moodle). The study has used the descriptive approach through the questionnaire tool which consisted in its final form of (33) items distributed on (10) factors. The study sample consisted of (487) faculty members in university colleges. The AMOS program was used to analyze the data using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) through the path analysis method and (goodness-of-fit) tests to test the validity of the proposed model. The results of the study identified (6) factors that affect the use of faculty members for the e-learning system (model) in the teaching process viz., the competence of faculty members, the efficiency of the e-learning system, training benefits, the influence of others, and facilities, in addition (3) factors were identified as outputs for the use of the faculty E-learning system namely quality of teaching, faculty satisfaction, and faculty confidence in the e-learning system. The study recommends educational policy makers in the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and University Administration to adopt these factors identified in this study and implement the effect of these factors on the use of faculty members for the e-learning system (Moodle) in order to achieve learning outcomes for academic programs.

Following campus closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many Ministries of Education around the world requested teachers to move their teaching online. This case study reflects on how the Commonwealth of Learning responded to requests from two countries to provide support in pedagogical and curricular change for online learning in this process. A Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platform was used to upskill 11,568 teachers in two regions of the Commonwealth. Analytics from within the course, together with pre-, mid- and end-course surveys of participants' perceptions indicated that while there was, and is, scope for improvement, the short course largely reached its objective of providing immediate support on an introductory level and that the approach adopted was largely appropriate for the purpose.

Over the last two decades research has indicated an unpleasant experience for the elderly with exemptions. An important question for this paper is whether the unpleasant exempted experience for the elderly in accessing health services is linked to illiteracy. Since illiteracy can affect how services are used and its results, the answer to this paper's question could affect how health services are accessed and their associated outcomes. Policy implementors are operating without a solid knowledge of this relationship. The study used a mixed methods approach. Purposive random sampling was applied to select 879 elderly and was guided by research assistants in filling in the questionnaires. Also, purposive sampling was used to recruit 23 key informants. Results indicates a significant relationship between illiteracy and selected indicators of health service access: awareness, acceptability and adequacy. This paper argues for more training opportunities through non-formal programs among adults and communication capacity building among health providers based on the results of implementing the elderly exemption policy in Ubungo and Mbarali districts in Tanzania.

Many definitions of education have been made from past to present. The definition of education, which is generally defined as the process of creating behaviour change in the desired direction in individuals, has a history as old as human history. From another point of view, education is the sum of the process that takes the individual from birth to death and develops talent, attitude and other behaviours that have value in the community where he lives. It is possible to talk about the use of mobile education application increasing day by day, although it is not at the desired level in the field of education. It is seen as the pervasive use of mobile devices and a part of life; it is not possibleto say that the advantage of continuous transport is fully utilized. In this context, in this study that we carried out to measure the attitudes of teachers in the field towards mobile education applications and to compare these attitudes with the students in the education faculty, it was made to determine how much teachers and students continuously use the smart devices they carry with them in the field of education and training, and whether they use the advantages they provide. To find answers to the research questions, the study was designed with a "quantitative research method" and was carried out with "descriptive research design". According to Sönmez and Alacapinar (2014), "descriptive researchcan be considered as a description of what is happening, what already exists, what is happening, and explained" (p: 47). From this point of view, it was tried to determine what the opinions of teachers and teacher candidates in the profession about mobile education applications and whether the difference between these views is meaningful or not. As a result, the attitudes of teachers and prospective teachers towards mobile education devices are positive in this research, which aims to determine what opinions of teachers and prospective teachers about mobile education practices and whether the difference between these views is meaningful. The fact that the difference between these views is not significant is similar in the literature. These results suggest that attitudes towards new education applications to be used on mobile devices are also positive. Mobile technologies support individual and collaborative learning thanks to their rapidly developing applications and easy network access, allowing individuals to research, share information and access information at any time. The use of new technologies and software in education creates new learning opportunities for students and teachers. This explains the importance of individuals being open to using new technologies and accepting these technologies.

The primary purpose of this research was to determine the effect of principal instructional leadership behavior on several determinants: organizational commitment, efficacy, and teacher satisfaction through school health. Five instruments that had been used are the principal instructional management rating scale (PIMRS); organizational health inventory for elementary schools (OHIE); online course questionnaire (OCQ); teacher satisfaction scale (TSS); teacher efficacy scale (TES). All of these instruments had high validity and reliability; with Cronbach's alpha values of each was PIMRS (0.83), OHI-E (0.81), OCQ (0.80), TSS (0.86), and TES (0.79). A total of 350 public primary school teachers in Surakarta had been selected as respondents in this study with satisfied random sampling. AMOS software version 6.0 is used to analyze CFA and SEM. The results of SEM analysis to the structural model built by the researcher was good, with Probability = 0.001; RMSEA = 0.043; GFI = 0.941; AGFI = 0.907; CMIN/DF = 1.522), so the relationship between the variables in the constructs was interpreted; (1) The Principal instructional leadership behavior had a significant direct influence on the school health, (2) The school health parameter had a significant direct influence on organizational commitment, efficacy, and teacher satisfaction, (3) The principal instructional leadership behavior did not have a significant direct effect on organizational commitment, efficacy, and teacher satisfaction through the variables and school health.

The study investigated the effect of leisure time satisfaction levels of healthcare workers on their job motivations during COVID-19 pandemic. 147 healthcare workers (mean age, 34.13±9.24 years; 57.8% (n=85) women and 42.2% (n=62) men) from a Turkish public hospitals who worked in pandemic hospitals in Istanbul during the COVID-19 global epidemic, were participated in the study voluntarily. Questionnaire method was used in conducting this study. The questionnaire consisted of three parts such as demographic information form, leisure time satisfaction scale and job motivation scale. SPSS v.21.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, Illinois, USA) statistical program was used to analyze the data. Frequency, T-Test, Anova, Regression and Correlation Analyzes were performed. Results show that the satisfaction of healthcare workers from their leisure time affected their job motivation positively, while leisure time satisfaction and job motivation differed by demographic variables.

Online learning is a flexible and distributed distance learning system. The motivation of lecturers and students is one of key factors determining the acceptance and use of online learning in higher education. This research is aimed at empirically developing and testing a measurement model of several motivational constructs with the assumptions of indicators that build it. This research proposes a theoretical model which can be integrated into three motivational theories: ARCS, McClelland's needs, and Self-Determinant Theory (SDT). The construct indicators were developed and then validated empirically at two universities in Makassar, Indonesia. A quantitative method with survey approach was used. The research sample consisted of 71 lecturers and 210 students selected purposively. The analysis of measurement models used partial least square (PLS). The results show that the construct of motivation with indicators that built it met validity and reliability requirements. The results of this research present two alternative instruments for explaining the relationship between motivational factors including the indicators that influence the use of online learning systems in tertiary institutions.

Faculty satisfaction is an essential component in an online teaching and learning environment. The researchers of the current quantitative study identified factors that influence online instructors' satisfaction at 10 different four-year public and private higher education institutions in the state of Ohio. The researchers also validated the modified OFSS-R survey (Blundell, 2015) within the study. The participants (N = 382), were faculty members who taught fully online at the 10 institutions. Results of the study revealed that instructor satisfaction was influenced by three main factors: (1) the instructor-student interaction; (2) the role of technology; and (3) the institutional support. Study results also revealed that the OFSS-R survey is valid and reliable measurement of perceived faculty satisfaction in a fully online environment.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the corporate total quality management practices and corresponding results achieved by corporate sector firms of Lahore, Pakistan with implications for the business schools offering TQM courses. The variables studied include leadership, resource management, performance measurement and feedback, continuous improvement, supplier quality management, education and training, work environment and culture, and customer satisfaction as sub-scales and corresponding results achieved by these firms as a consequence of such practices. The data were collected from corporate managers through an adapted instrument and descriptive and inferential statistics were employed. The findings reflected a high to very high level of TQM practices carried out by the companies participating in the study and their corresponding TQM results whereas the sub-scales are rated by corporate managers as customer satisfaction, continuous improvement, leadership, resources management, supplier quality management, education and training, work environment and culture, performance measurement and feedback, in their order of preference. The results indicated that the corporate sector needs to work on incorporating the highest level of TQM practices for maximum corporate success and the business schools offering TQM courses also need to respond the consequences of these findings.

This study focused on the perspectives of higher education stakeholders on teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) in online courses in Iran, as well as preservice teachers' learning achievements in online courses. Three cohorts of participants were included in the study: preservice teachers of TEFL (n = 104), TEFL university instructors (n = 23), and heads of TEFL departments (n = 10). Data was collected using a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The Kruskal Wallis test was used to detect differences among participants' perspectives. Preservice teachers' mid-term and final scores in the online courses were also compared. Results show significant differences among the perspectives of the three participant groups regarding online courses. The preservice teachers appeared to have relatively positive attitudes about online learning, while the university instructors and department heads showed lower levels of satisfaction with this medium. Participants identified several challenges in online learning, including lack of rigor in online courses, lack of credibility of course certificates, lack of technological infrastructures, technical problems, lack of practical content in the lessons, lack of human interaction, students' low knowledge of the content, and employers' lack of interest in employing graduates of online courses. Participants also noted the need for pedagogical and technological training for both university instructors and preservice teachers of TEFL. The comparison of preservice teachers' mid-term and final scores in the online courses showed a significant difference and improvement in students' learning achievements with medium to large effect sizes. In the interviews, participants confirmed that online courses could improve student learning.

Background: Evidence-based recommendations for a core outcome set (COS; minimum set of outcomes) for aphasia treatment research have been developed (the Research Outcome Measurement in Aphasia--ROMA, COS). Five recommended core outcome constructs: communication, language, quality of life, emotional well-being and patient-reported satisfaction/impact of treatment, were identified through three international consensus studies. Constructs were paired with outcome measurement instruments (OMIs) during an international consensus meeting (ROMA-1). Before the current study (ROMA-2), agreement had not been reached on OMIs for the constructs of communication or patient-reported satisfaction/impact of treatment. Aim: To establish consensus on a communication OMI for inclusion in the ROMA COS. Methods & Procedures: Research methods were based on recommendations from the Core Outcome Measures in Effectiveness Trials (COMET) Initiative. Participants with expertise in design and conduct of aphasia trials, measurement instrument development/testing and/or communication outcome measurement were recruited through an open call. Before the consensus meeting, participants agreed on a definition of communication, identified appropriate OMIs, extracted their measurement properties and established criteria for their quality assessment. During the consensus meeting they short-listed OMIs and participants without conflicts of interest voted on the two most highly ranked instruments. Consensus was defined a priori as agreement by [greater than or equal to] 70% of participants. Outcomes & Results: In total, 40 researchers from nine countries participated in ROMA-2 (including four facilitators and three-panel members who participated in pre-meeting activities only). A total of 20 OMIs were identified and evaluated. Eight short-listed communication measures were further evaluated for their measurement properties and ranked. Participants in the consensus meeting (n = 33) who did not have conflicts of interest (n = 29) voted on the top two ranked OMIs: The Scenario Test (TST) and the Communication Activities of Daily Living--3 (CADL-3). TST received 72% (n = 21) of 'yes' votes and the CADL-3 received 28% (n = 8) of 'yes' votes. Conclusions & Implications: Consensus was achieved that TST was the preferred communication OMI for inclusion in the ROMA COS. It is currently available in the original Dutch version and has been adapted into English, German and Greek. Further consideration must be given to the best way to measure communication in people with mild aphasia. Development of a patient-reported measure for satisfaction with/impact of treatment and multilingual versions of all OMIs of the COS is still required. Implementation of the ROMA COS would improve research outcome measurement and the quality, relevance, transparency, replicability and efficiency of aphasia treatment research.

Background: Views on social care related quality of life (SCRQol) are typically gathered directly from individuals or from proxy informants. Easy-read options are available, although such methods may not be accessible to those with greater communication challenges. Methods: Fifteen people with intellectual disabilities were interviewed about their SCRQoL using Talking Mats® (TM). A descriptive approach was taken to exploring what people had to say. Results: Participants reported high levels of satisfaction with living conditions and personal care routines. They were mostly satisfied with the level of choice and control they had and with their carers. Conclusions: People with intellectual disabilities who have greater communication challenges can make meaningful contributions to the assessment of the care they receive. Talking Mats is one tool which can be used to support people with intellectual disabilities to give their views.

This study investigates the influence of university brand image, satisfaction, and alumni's university identification on positive word-of-mouth (WOM) intentions. The model is tested using data collected from a sample of 1000 university alumni, an important and under-researched stakeholder group. A contribution is provided by enhancing our understanding of key under-researched relationships. University brand image was found to be a key driver of alumni positive WOM intentions, due to its direct and indirect influences. The study also identified the mediating roles of alumni's university identification and satisfaction. The influence of university brand image on alumni WOM is partially accounted for through its influence on alumni satisfaction and alumni's university identification.

Despite the surge in online social work education throughout the last two decades, scholarship examining the pedagogical transition to virtual environments from educators' perspectives remains nascent. To address this gap, an interpretative phenomenological analysis explored the lived experiences of 17 social work educators across the United States who transitioned from solely on-ground instruction to partially or completely online teaching prior to July 2019. A typological framework emerged from the data that represented the perspectives of Grievers, Skeptics, Converts, Pragmatists, and Champions. Shaped by the convergence of multisystemic forces, these typologies conveyed fresh conceptualizations of roles and identities as educators navigated the digital migration. The framework offers clarity for social work educators as they make sense of their online teaching transitions.

Varsity athletes face an array of stressors, including balancing academic obligations with athletic competitions. Student-athletes appraising a situation as a "challenge" or "threat" directly impacts coping responses. Objective: To investigate whether pre-season self-reported mental toughness and self-regulation strategies predicts post-season stress, mental health, group cohesion, and satisfaction in varsity athletes. Participants: Sixty-seven varsity athletes from a U-Sport Canadian university. Methods: Athletes completed pre- and post-season measures of mental toughness, emotion regulation, self-control, group cohesion, and satisfaction. Multiple mediation models were employed during analyses. Results: Pre-season emotion regulation was a significant mediator for the relationships between mental toughness and post-season ratings of perceived stress, perceived mental health, and group cohesion. Self-control was not a significant mediator. Conclusions: Emotion regulation plays a significant role in an athlete's experience of perceived stress, mental health issues, and their ratings of group cohesiveness. Research on student-athlete health may benefit from examining emotion regulation training techniques.

This study took place in the University of West Attica, Department of Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) in Greece, founded in 2018, which focuses on the learning, development and education of children under four years of age. Greece has a split early childhood education system, and there is minimal attention given to infant and toddler research. This study explored students' views before and after their final practicum through two online questionnaires to identify the effectiveness of the undergraduate programme of studies in preparing ECEC educators for their professional roles. The study also interviewed in-service educators in their first year of employment and graduates who have completed their practicum in a foreign country under the Erasmus+ programme. Findings revealed an overall satisfaction with the existing programme and the effectiveness of the final practicum. Students who completed an Erasmus+ practicum were particularly positive about their experience and the knowledge they acquired, and they encouraged more students to apply for the Erasmus+ mobility scheme. All participants provided useful insights and suggestions for further improving the programme, such as extending the placement and practicum. Implications for ECEC educators' education are discussed, along with recommendations for future research.

Few studies explore the components of sexual satisfaction as specified by college students. This cross-sectional study examined sexual satisfaction at the event level for undergraduate students (n = 1,090), focusing on differences between males/females. Survey results revealed for both males and females, being comfortable with a partner, experiencing orgasm, and having a partner "with skills" predicted sexual satisfaction. Satisfied males reported feeling safe with their partners, spent time touching/kissing, and had "romantic" partners. Satisfied females had partners with previous sexual experience, whom they desired, and vice-versa. These findings can inform comprehensive sexuality education efforts to incorporate the teaching of satisfaction into sexual health.

The individualized education program (IEP) is often referred to as the most important plan designed to provide students with disabilities a free and appropriate public education that requires families and professionals to collaborate for student success. Using qualitative methodology, we examined four focus groups of 43 parents of students with disabilities about their experiences with the IEP meeting process, including suggestions for improvement. Findings revealed parental satisfaction was mostly associated with practices that fell within the legal requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Key practices that lead to parent satisfaction included: (a) conveying a strengths-based perspective about the student, (b) utilizing meeting strategies, (c) working together as a team, (d) bringing outside support to the meeting, (e) learning about the IEP process ahead of time, and (f) having a supportive educator available to advocate for the student. Implications for future research and practice are discussed.

Through a quantitative analysis using a cross-sectional survey design, we compared two faculty mentoring programmes (individual and group) that have run for more than 10 years at the Centre for Academic Leadership at the University of Ottawa. We did so to share the lessons with other higher education institutions that are looking at initiating or improving support for faculty members. The impact of mentoring, gathered through programme evaluation questionnaires was found to be largely positive: 93% of the 170 respondents were satisfied with their mentoring experience, and 97% agreed that they would recommend mentoring to their colleagues. Our analysis showed that group mentoring was more effective than one-on-one mentoring, and that women faculty members were not as satisfied with mentoring as their male colleagues.

Background: Research is lacking on body-related consequences of sexual abuse in adults with mild intellectual disability or borderline intellectual functioning (MID-BIF), although the prevalence of abuse is high and body- and movement-oriented diagnostics and therapeutics seem warranted for this group. Method: Body experience in adults with MID-BIF who were sexually abused (SA) and were not sexually abused (NSA) was compared using a self-report instrument, the Body Experience Questionnaire-mb, and an instrument to observe non-verbal psychomotor behaviour, the PsyMot-mb. Results: The SA group showed significantly higher self-reported body awareness and more observed problems with body acceptance than the NSA group. No significant group differences were found for self-reported body satisfaction and body attitude. Conclusions: Adults with MID-BIF who were sexually abused are more aware of their body signals, but less able to adequately attend to, tolerate, and interpret these signals. Therefore, body- and movement-oriented therapies hold promise for this group.

This study aims to examine the co-existing patterns of teachers' satisfaction with personal lives and online teaching, and the factors of these patterns during the pandemic. Self-report questionnaire was administered to 751 primary and secondary school teachers in China during the pandemic. Latent profile analysis and multiple logistic regression were used. We found four patterns: Low satisfaction, High life--Low teaching satisfaction, Low life--Medium teaching satisfaction, and High satisfaction group. Sense of control was more associated with High life--Low teaching satisfaction group. Teaching efficacy and family interference with work were more associated with High satisfaction group. Job burnout and work interference with family were more associated with Low satisfaction and Low life--Medium teaching satisfaction group. The findings indicate the heterogeneity of teachers' satisfaction with personal lives and online teaching during the pandemic. Grade, sense of control, teaching efficacy, job burnout, and work-family conflict are important factors.

Background" Reducing opioid reliance in chronic pain treatment may best be accomplished with interdisciplinary teams. Shared Medical Appointments (SMAs) are one format whereby an interdisciplinary team partners with groups of patients to provide health education and clinical care. The Whole Health (WH) model is an emerging framework whereby the care team partners with the patient to reach shared goals with emphasis on self-care and healing modalities. Purpose: Assess the impact of a WH Education intervention in patients with chronic pain and long-term opioid use within the framework of Shared Medical Appointment (SMA). Results: Retrospective chart review of 86 participants indicated significant opioid reduction at 12 and 24 months. The rate of opioid reduction in the SMA group surpassed the rate of decline of the host or national VA cohorts. Overall pain perception did not increase while patient satisfaction and safety indices improved. Discussion: Results of the intervention suggest that a WH education model in a SMA is one approach to help patients reduce long-term opioid reliance. Translation to Health Education Practice: Trained Whole Health Coaches/Education Specialists are key personnel in the implementation of the WHSMA model of care and facilitators of behavioral change that results in improved wellness outcomes. The present study explored motivation for teaching career choice within the FIT-Choice framework among different types of prospective teachers in Croatia. A total number of 634 prospective teachers enrolled in different initial teacher education programmes participated in this study (prospective preschool, classroom and subject teachers). Results revealed that the intrinsic value of teaching, the social value of teaching and perception of own teaching abilities were the most important motives for choosing a teaching career, while the fallback career motive had the lowest ratings across the groups. Analyses also revealed that the motivation of prospective preschool and classroom teachers is very similar and that the importance of intrinsic utility value and social utility value was somewhat less pronounced among subject teachers. Although all prospective teachers expressed a relatively high level of satisfaction with career choice, group comparisons revealed that prospective subject teachers' satisfaction level was lower compared to the other two groups.

Background: Individuals with developmental disabilities have specific physical and psychosocial needs that can require extra support to participate fully in and enjoy many benefits of recreation activities. Unfortunately, little is known about individuals with developmental disabilities' experiences in outdoor recreation. The purpose of this study was to explore adults with developmental disabilities' perceived benefits of outdoor recreation, and the constraints or facilitators that affected their participation. Method: Qualitative, semi-structured interviews were conducted with seven adults with developmental disabilities. Interviews were analysed using open, axial, and selective coding techniques. Results: Results revealed three themes: (a) benefits of; (b) constraints to; and (c) facilitators of outdoor recreation. Benefits of outdoor recreation reported by study participants included their experiencing satisfaction, mental reprieve, empowerment, enlightenment, social connectedness, and thrill. Participants also shared intrapersonal, interpersonal, and structural constraints and facilitators related to their outdoor recreation participation. Conclusions: Practical implications and future research recommendations are discussed.

Child abuse can have serious long-term physical, psychological, behavioural, societal and economic consequences. The aim of this scoping review was to map the literature on abuse prevention programs conducted at schools for pre-teenage children. The review outlines the specific components and methods of the programs, the measurements used and the results obtained. The review included 4135 children, 1841 parents, 16 teachers and two school counsellors. A scoping review of published articles was conducted following the Joanna Briggs methodology. PubMed, PSYCInfo, ERIC, The Cochrane Library and CINAHL were searched for articles published between 1989 and 2018. The search yielded 2042 publications of which nine met the inclusion criteria. Eight of the publications reported positive results. One publication reported mixed results in terms of the safety skills and knowledge of the participating children. There were several similarities between the programs regarding key components and methods of delivery. None of the articles included children with disabilities, even though they are particularly vulnerable of becoming victims of abuse.

The current study examines whether peer victimization experienced in early adolescence is associated with compromised social functioning 14 years later in young adulthood. The sample involved 1533 young adults (65.1% female, M[subscript age] = 27.06) who had participated in a large research project as middle school students (7th and 8th graders, with 13-14 years of age at wave 1) in Finland. Self-reported victimization during 1 year in middle school across three time points (waves 1-3) was first used to predict young adults' romantic relationship satisfaction and victimization at workplace (wave 4), while controlling for gender and initial grade level. The model suggested that peer victimization was associated with lower level of romantic relationship satisfaction and an increased risk for workplace victimization. When middle school depression, social anxiety, and bullying perpetration were added as covariates, peer victimization in middle school was no longer directly related to romantic relationship satisfaction. Peer victimization and bullying perpetration were each predictive of workplace victimization in this model. Adolescence bullying perpetration did not moderate the impact of victimization on adult outcomes. The findings suggest that the prevention of bullying and peer victimization as well as depression in adolescence is important to lower the long-term risks for social adjustment.

Autistic individuals have reported lower satisfaction in their romantic relationships compared to non-autistic individuals. Previous research on the factors that contribute to relationship satisfaction within autism has focused on the characteristics of autistic participants as barriers to relationship satisfaction, while overlooking the role of their partners. This study investigated a range of factors and their association with long-term relationship satisfaction for 95 autistic individuals and 65 non-autistic individuals in current or previous long-term relationships with autistic individuals. Participants completed an online survey, including questionnaires measuring autistic traits, the Big Five personality traits, social loneliness, partner responsiveness, sexual satisfaction and relationship satisfaction. Partner responsiveness significantly predicted relationship satisfaction for both autistic and non-autistic partners. The findings suggest that to enhance relationship satisfaction, service providers working with couples involving an autistic individual would improve the relationship by focusing on assisting their clients to identify each other's needs and how best to meet them.

This study concerns integration in a two-way dual language immersion (DLI) context. Specifically, the present study examines parents of students in Korean-English DLI programs with the intent to understand the extent of their satisfaction with their child's ability to get along with children of different cultures and languages. This study also examines parental views on integration among parents themselves. Using the survey data collected from over 450 parents in seven elementary schools in southern California, this quantitative study also investigates to what degree the variables of integration among children and among parents are associated with other parental demographic characteristics and parental experiences in their child's DLI program. Based on the study findings, this study argues that integration in DLI must be a school-wide commitment and not simply a program's goal. Moreover, to achieve integration in DLI, all stakeholders of the program need to be considered, including students, educators, and families of students in the school. This study also highlights the need to diversify discussions regarding DLI programs in terms of target languages, program types, and school locations.

Doctoral degree holders may struggle to find a job, even though they possess the highest level of education delivered by universities. Whilst learning experiences' quality has been argued to affect the doctoral degree holders' ability to get a job, little is known about the relationship between these dimensions. To shed light on this issue, the article investigated secondary data collected from the 2018 national survey on doctoral degree holders in Italy. The respondents' ability to get a job four to six years after the achievement of their doctoral degree was examined. A multinomial polytomous logistic regression model was designed to obtain evidence of the relationship between the perceived quality of learning experiences and the doctoral degree holders' ability to get a job. The enrichment of learning experiences with practice-oriented educational activities enhanced the PhDs' ability to get a job. People who were dissatisfied with their relationship with academics were more likely to be unemployed. Tailored interventions are needed to augment the quality of learning experiences and to increase the PhDs' ability to get a job. Educational services' co-production and the involvement of business partners in co-designing educational services might contribute positively to the doctoral degree holders' ability to get a job.

A capacity-building programme between a veterinary school in the UK and the veterinary school in Sri Lanka was developed. Scholarships for two distance learning MSc programmes were offered to Sri Lankan veterinarians: 'Veterinary Epidemiology and Public Health' and 'Livestock Health and Production'. In addition, scholarships were offered to academic staff members at the veterinary school to undertake the Postgraduate Certificate in Veterinary Education. A blended learning approach was taken, though the majority of learning was by distance. This study used a case-study approach to assess the programmes' impact at different levels: individual, institutional, institution's students, the profession, the public and animals. Previous students were interviewed and current students participated in a focus group. Staff of the Sri Lankan university were interviewed. Data were transcribed and qualitative content analysis conducted. Participants had achieved personal satisfaction, gained new knowledge and skills and progressed professionally. These impacts translated to societal impacts including disseminating understanding of One Health, improving animal welfare laws and assisting the development of the undergraduate veterinary curriculum. The graduates from the blended learning programmes are experts at the centre of a new community of practice and have the ability to inspire future generations of Sri Lankan veterinary surgeons.

Purpose: It is commonly observed in trainings that all trainees do not get satisfied with the performance of the trainer. The usual way to increase the satisfaction of trainees is a stress on improving task communication of the trainer. It is based on the assumption that effective task communication essentially fosters training effectiveness. This study aims to provide preliminary evidence that effective task communication can also obstruct training effectiveness besides promoting it. To achieve this objective, the authors hypothesized a dual-process model of training effectiveness based on uncertainty reduction theory. Design/methodology/approach: This was a field study in which the authors collected time-lagged data from seven trainings. The trainings were designed to impart technical knowledge of multilevel analyses to professional social science researchers. Confirmatory factor analysis for ordinal indicators was used to test the measurement properties of the model and scales. Structural equation modeling for ordinal indicators was used to test hypotheses. Findings: This study provided evidence of an overall positive effect of the trainer's task communication on the trainee's communication satisfaction. A complex mediation analysis also revealed the existence of two opposite psychological processes. While the first process transmitted the positive effect of task communication to communication satisfaction, the other process diminished this positive effect. Implications for the theory and practice of training are discussed. Originality/value: Training scholars and practitioners universally believe that an effective task communication of trainers essentially promotes training effectiveness. This study has provided empirical evidence that this assumption is an incomplete picture of a complex reality that requires further investigation.

Despite the plethora of m-learning acceptance studies, few have tackled the importance of examining the actual use of m-learning systems from the lenses of social influence, expectation-confirmation, and satisfaction. Additionally, most of the prior technology adoption literature tends to use the structural equation modeling (SEM) technique in analyzing the structural models. To address these limitations, this study extends the technology acceptance model (TAM) with the expectation-confirmation model (ECM) and social influence to predict the actual use of m-learning systems. A comparative approach using the partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) and machine learning algorithms was employed to test the proposed model with data collected from 448 students. The results revealed that both techniques have successfully provided support to all the hypothesized relationships of the research model. More interesting, the J48 classifier has performed better than the other classifiers in predicting the dependent variable in most cases. The employment of a comparative analytical approach is believed to add a significant contribution to the information systems (IS) literature in general, and the m-learning domain in specific.

Purpose: The present study examines the foremost determinants of teachers' perception, i.e. teachers' satisfaction, attitude and continuance intention towards adopting e-learning in Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) in India during the COVID-19 pandemic. Design/methodology/approach: Data were collected through online Google forms from 1,111 (1,060 considered useable) teachers of different HEIs in India using the purposive sampling technique and was analyzed by PLS-SEM (performing partial least squares-structural equation modeling). Findings: Results of this study show that perceived usefulness (PU) followed by institutional support, perceived ease of use (PEOU), and teacher-student interaction positively and significantly impact teachers' satisfaction. Results also revealed that perceived usefulness (PU), institutional support, and satisfaction significantly affect teachers' attitude. Finally and most notably, teachers' continuance intention towards using online teaching in HEIs is most significantly influenced by teachers' satisfaction than perceived usefulness (PU), perceived ease of use (PEOU), and attitude. Originality/value: The authors anticipate that this study brings a significant and valuable input to the existing literature by providing inclusive research in a more harmonizing understanding of the teachers' satisfaction, attitude, and continuance intention with online teaching-learning practices in diverse educational institutions.

Objective: To examine the relationships between loneliness and psychosocial supports, emerging adult service utilization, and barriers to utilization. Participants: 18 to 29-year-old students enrolled in a large Midwestern University (n = 292). Methods: Online surveys were administered to all participants involving information on loneliness, social supports, basic need satisfactions, community/university service utilization, and barriers to service use. Logistic and linear regressions, analysis of variance were conducted. Results: Emerging adults were found to have a greater likelihood of service utilization when higher in social support from friends and less likely to utilize services when high in relatedness and competence need satisfaction, specifically in regard to community services. Group differences in greater barriers to service utilization were found among the highest levels of loneliness and the lowest levels of need satisfaction. Conclusion: Overall, this study indicates psychosocial supports and loneliness are related to service utilization in a nuanced manner.

Objective: Describe a model for incorporating campus-based Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) services. Describe differences in patient satisfaction and utilization of follow-up resources between patients seeking SANE services at a university health center (UHC) compared to an emergency department (ED). Participants: Patients seeking SANE services at the UHC or ED of a large Midwestern university from January 2016-April 2018. Fifty-eight participants completed a satisfaction survey, including 28 students. Twenty-eight participants completed a follow-up survey, including 15 students. Methods: A Qualtrics survey assessed--(1) satisfaction following the SANE exam and (2) use of follow-up services 4-6 weeks later. Descriptive analyses, exact logistic regressions, and OLS regressions were calculated. Results: There were no differences in satisfaction, services received, or follow-up services accessed between patients at the UHC and ED, including between students. Conclusions: Campus-based SANE services meet the expectations of survivors and do not differ significantly from services at the ED.

Background: Prior research indicates that healthcare provider-patient communication influences health outcomes such as patient satisfaction, compliance with diagnosis or treatment, and general health quality. However, little is known about this type of inquiry in the context of healthcare centers on college and university campuses. Aim: The objective of this study was to examine the influence of students' perception of college healthcare providers' affective and instrumental behaviors on student patient satisfaction and perceived quality of healthcare at a university health center. Methods: 349 participants who were college students took an online survey. Regression analyses were conducted. Results: Affective and instrumental behaviors were important communicative behaviors predicting student patient satisfaction and perceived quality of healthcare. However, directions of these predictions differed between student patient satisfaction and perceived quality of healthcare. Conclusion: Healthcare providers at the university health center are recognizing student patients as partners in the healthcare decision-making processes.

Aim/Purpose: This study attempts to apply gamification to support the training of small business owners in business web development from a work-based learning perspective. Background: Web design describes the process of creating a website and embodies many different aspects, such as webpage layout, content production, and graphic design. However, there are many obstacles that small business owners face when developing their websites, such as time and budget constraints, lacking technical skills, and difficulties with content creation. Methodology: Based on the literature review, a gamified training program was developed for website development. The new website design and development training method was compared with the traditional lecture training method from small business owners' perspectives in the specific work-based learning context. Contribution: This study contributes to the field of work-based learning by developing an innovative gamified training program for small business owners in website development learning. Findings: The results confirm that the gamified training program improved learning outcomes and satisfaction. The results of this study help advance the understanding of work-based training program design and provide insights to support small business owners in learning new technologies. Recommendations for Practitioners: Results confirm that this new training system is superior to the traditional lecture training method. While much attention has been directed to website design and development learning or business activities of small business owners, this study emphasizes the need for work-based learning in such a context. Recommendation for Researchers: This study also shows a potential way for future research by combining technology education and small business owners' needs. Impact on Society: The results of this study show the advantages of gamified training programs. For their future training program selections, small business owners should pay more attention to gamified training and education systems in the market. Furthermore, gamified training and education systems not only help small businesses but also could be adopted by mid-size or even large companies in their training programs. Future Research: Future research should be conducted to investigate to what extent gamification improves work-based learning and how to design gamification to improve work-based learning.

Research Findings: This study aimed to explore parental satisfaction with Puhui early childhood education (ECE) service in China using evidence from a national validation study. The Parent Satisfaction with the Puhui Early Childhood Education Service Scale (PES) was developed and validated with 4,134 Chinese parents, who were sampled using a stratified cluster sampling method. First, an examination of the PES's psychometric properties indicated that it was a reliable and valid scale with three constructs: government responsibility, kindergarten responsibility, and children's development. Second, descriptive statistics revealed that Chinese parents were generally satisfied with the Puhui ECE service, being most satisfied with child development and least satisfied with government responsibility. Third, latent profile analysis generated three profiles: low, medium, and high satisfaction parents. Fourth, hierarchical regression analysis found that kindergarten rating and urbanicity were significant predictors of parent satisfaction. Practice or Policy: The findings imply that more policy attention should be paid to the quality and fairness of the Puhui ECE. Moreover, this study extends the research on parent satisfaction with ECE services and provides useful tools to evaluate universal ECE services in China and beyond.

Background: Patient education materials (PEMs) are often used in health education programs to empower patients to self-manage their disease for better health outcomes. Heart failure (HF) patients wanted more information about self-management and educational materials that were easy to understand. Programs with self-efficacy as the core component have proven to be effective in improving patients' self-management. Purpose: To develop practical, efficacy-enhanced, tailored HF rehabilitation PEMs that satisfy our clients to drive long-lasting behavior change and evaluate the materials' quality (readability, understandability, actionability, and acceptability). Methods: Exploratory mixed methods study involving: (1) semi-structured interviews; (2) evaluation of the PEMs; (3) revision and reevaluation of the PEMs; (4) publication. An appointed panel of experts evaluates content accuracy, understandability, and actionability. The Patient Education Material Assessment Tool assesses content understandability and actionability. The content readability was assessed using Flesch Kincaid Calculator. Clients' acceptability was assessed using Educational Material Acceptability tool. Results: The newly developed PEMs have good understandability, actionability, readability, and acceptance. Discussion: Patient-centered PEMs have good acceptance and satisfaction among clients. However, the effectiveness of tailored efficacy-enhanced PEMs for behavior changes needs further evaluation. During this pandemic period, many external quality assurance agencies organised their external assessment visits to higher education institutions virtually. This has been an experience that must be valued, determining whether in future it makes sense to continue organising visits virtually or adopting other similar formats. To this end, this article presents the results of a survey carried out among participants in 100 external assessment panels. Four different items have been analysed: satisfaction with different aspects of the virtual site visits, overall satisfaction, the visit of the facilities and the future of virtual visits. The results show that satisfaction with the process is very broad. Moreover, the physical visit to the facilities is still valued very positively. Few statistically significant differences have been found between programme and institutional accreditation processes, which suggests that whatever the future proposal is, it would follow a similar strategy in both cases.

While a controversial practice internationally, homeschooling is not uncommon in the United States' educational system. Although myriad reasons exist for choosing to homeschool one's children, a framework highlighting reactive versus proactive motivations has emerged to explain why some families choose to homeschool. Using prospective, longitudinal data from the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study--Kindergarten: 2010-2011 (ECLS-K:11), reports were gathered from 187 homeschooled children, their parents, and their teachers. Aspects of the ECLS-K:11 homeschoolers appear consistent with a reactive model of homeschooling. All ECLS-K:11 children initially began kindergarten in the traditional school system, but subsequently left that system prior to fifth grade to be homeschooled. When assessed shortly before leaving, these children were more likely to be absent and to have parents who did not endorse being very satisfied with their child's school compared to those who remained in the school system. Moreover, these issues appeared uniquely exacerbated just prior to departure from the school system. Additionally, although children who would go on to homeschool within the next year did not score differently on academic achievement tests than their traditionally schooled peers, they were more likely to experience bullying in the year before they began to homeschool. The ECSL-K:11's homeschooling sample is described, and conclusions drawn between it and literature descriptions of homeschoolers. Implications, limitations, and future directions are discussed, particularly given recent changes in the educational landscape.
