Abstract

A report is presented on the exclusion of the leukemia inhibitory factor receptor gene in Crisponi syndrome and the identification of homozygote or compound heterozygote cytokine receptor-like factor 1 (CRLF1) mutations in four children from three unrelated families. The identification of CRLF 1 mutations in Crisponi syndrome supports the key role of the CNTFR pathway in the function of the autonomic nervous system.

217. A bibliometric analysis of agricultural vulnerability in the context of climate change from 2010 to 2021

Abstract

Climate change is a genuine issue threatening the presence of species and livelihoods, consequently causing the vulnerability. Agricultural vulnerability is seriously undermined by regular disasters, caused by climate change. Therefore, researchers and policymakers are showing their interest in the effect of climate change on agricultural vulnerability through publishing research works. This study aims to perform a bibliometric analysis of climate change-induced agricultural vulnerability using the Web of Science and Scopus databases, and PRISMA method. The study highlights the current trend, hot-spot area, and their development through a literature dataset taken into consideration from 2010 to 2021. The outcome showed that the USA, UK, Australia, and China are the countries with high publications potentials. Consequently, there has been a significant increase (R2= 0.90) in highlighted research area (2010–2021). The findings revealed that climate change and agricultural vulnerability research expanded gradually into different subject categories. The most frequent keywords were ‘climate change,’ ‘vulnerability,’ ‘adaptation,’ and ‘agriculture.’ The result showed that five clusters displayed the co-occurrences of term map. With the help of each clustering group, development of the respective research field can be smartly analyzed. Based on the findings, several research gaps are identified and offer opportunities for further studies.

218. DIANA: An End-to-End Hybrid DIgital and ANAlog Neural Network SoC for the Edge

Abstract

DIgital-ANAlog (DIANA), a heterogeneous multi-core accelerator, combines a reduced instruction set computer - five (RISC-V) host processor with an analog in-memory computing (AIMC) artificial intelligence (AI) accelerator and a digital reconfigurable deep neural network (DNN) accelerator in a single system-on-chip (SoC) to support a wide variety of neural network (NN) workloads. AIMC cores can bring extreme computational parallelism and efficiency at the expense of accuracy and dataflow flexibility. Digital AI co-processors, on the other hand, guarantee accuracy through deterministic compute, but cannot achieve the same computational density and efficiency. DIANA exploits this fundamental tradeoff by integrating both types of cores in a shared and optimized memory system, to enable seamless execution of the workloads on the parallel cores. The system’s performance benefits further from pipelined parallel execution across both accelerator cores and enhanced AIMC spatial unrolling techniques, leading to drastically reduced execution latency and reduced memory footprints. The design has been implemented in a 22-nm technology and achieves peak efficiencies of 600 TOP/s/W for the AIMC core (I/W/O: 7/1.5/6 bit) and 14 TOP/s/W (I/W/O: 8/8/8 bit) for the digital accelerator, respectively. End-to-end performance evaluation of CIFAR-10 and ImageNet classification workloads is carried out on the chip, reporting 7.02 and 5.56 TOP/s/W, respectively, at the system level.

224. Long-term burden of respiratory complications associated with extreme prematurity: An analysis of US Medicaid claims.

Abstract

Infants born extremely premature (EP) (<28 weeks gestational age) are at high risk of complications, particularly bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), which can develop into chronic lung disease (CLD). The burden of respiratory complications in EP infants up to 2 years corrected age (CA) was evaluated using real-world data from the US Medicaid program. Data recorded between 1997 and 2018 on EP infants without major congenital malformations were collected from Medicaid records of six states. EP infants were divided into three cohorts: BPD, CLD, and without BPD or CLD. The incidence of respiratory conditions, respiratory medication use, and healthcare resource utilization were compared between the BPD cohort and CLD cohort versus the cohort without BPD or CLD, using unadjusted and adjusted generalized linear models. A total of 4462 EP infants were identified (17.4% of all premature infants in the database). Of these, BPD and CLD were diagnosed in 61.9% and 72.1%, respectively, and 14.5% were diagnosed with neither BPD nor CLD. Compared with infants without BPD or CLD, infants with BPD or CLD had more complications and a longer length of birth hospitalization stay. Respiratory distress syndrome was the most frequently reported complication (94.6%, 92.5%, and 82.3% of EP infants in the BPD, CLD, and without BPD or CLD cohorts, respectively). After the birth hospitalization, respiratory conditions, respiratory medication use, and incidence rates of rehospitalizations, emergency room visits, and outpatient visits were higher for infants with BPD or CLD. Rehospitalization occurred in 50.5%, 51.6%, and 27.3% of EP infants with BPD, CLD, or without BPD or CLD, respectively; most hospitalizations occurred for respiratory-related reasons. In this analysis of a large population of EP infants up to 2 years CA, respiratory conditions were prevalent after the birth hospitalization and were associated with high rates of medication and healthcare resource utilization. Un nouveau-né de 2 mois est hospitalisé pour un tableau hémorragique associé à une altération de l'état général et de l'eczéma. Une thrombopénie est mise en évidence, sans autre altération de la coagulation. Alors que le patient développe une infection à pneumocystis jirovecii et des signes de vascularite, un déficit immunitaire est suspecté. La découverte d'une lymphopénie CD8, d'une microthrombocytopénie, et la présence de l'eczéma, orientent vers un diagnostic de syndrome de Wiskott-Aldrich, confirmé ensuite par biologie moléculaire. A 2-month-old newborn was hospitalized for hemorrhagic picture associated with deterioration of his general condition and eczema. A thrombocytopenia is highlighted, without any other alteration of coagulation. As the patient develops pneumocystis jirovecii infection and signs of vasculitis, immune deficiency is suspected. The discovery of CD8 lymphopenia, microthrombocytopenia, and the presence of eczema, lead to a diagnosis of Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome, then confirmed by molecular biology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
