Facility Management (FM) is well known for its interdisciplinary knowledge and along with the growing number of green buildings and low-carbon buildings, the FM system become increasingly complex. Many practitioners consider Building Information Modeling (BIM) as the most important technology to bring about improvements. The purpose of this paper is to develop a BIM-enabled FM system which integrates FM, BIM and building management system to improve information sharing and monitoring, FM system control, and equipment management. A case study is implemented to validate the feasibility of the BIM-enabled FM system. Four functionalities are demonstrated in detail: Equipment Information Monitoring (EIM), Dynamic Data Display and Warning (D3W), Energy-Saving Analysis (ESA), and Intelligent Fire Escape Route (IFER). The results show that BIM-enabled FM system facilitates the FM more accurate, timely, safe and efficient.

Summary Background Three-dimensional digital models, animations, and simulations have been used in the plastic surgical field for surgical education and training and patient education. In penile lengthening surgery, proper patient selection and well-designed surgical interventions are necessary; however, no such surgical or patient education tool exists. Methods Using magnetic resonance images as references, a preliminary three-dimensional digital model of the penis with its adjacent structures was constructed using Amira 5. This preliminary model was imported into Maya 2009, a computer modeling and animation software program, for processing to correct many defects. The refined model was used to create digital animation of penile lengthening surgery, including ordered steps of the procedure, using Maya 2009 and Adobe After Effects CS4. Results A three-dimensional digital animation was created to illustrate penile lengthening surgery. All major surgical steps were demonstrated, including exposure, transversal incision of the fundiform ligament, partial division and release of the suspensory ligament. Conclusions Three-dimensional digital models and animations of penile lengthening surgery may serve as resources for patient education to facilitate patient selection and resident education outside the operating room.

As one of the most developed cities in China, Shenzhen has experienced a rapid urban construction in the last 30 years and features a highly modernized city now. Since 2002, to facilitate constructions of larger and more complex public projects, Shenzhen government founded the Public Works Department (PWD) to centralize management of all public construction projects except transportation and water sector. After operation, the PWD of Shenzhen has significantly reduced projects durations and corruptions, increased quality, gain of investment and safety in the last decade. However, there are problems existing in the system which mainly include the lack of communication among authorities and between authorities and PWD, poor project decision-making methods, inadequate and obsolete construction management and lack of implementation of innovations in AEC sector. These gaps need to be bridged to improve project management of public projects further. This paper however, focus on regulatory reforms to facilitate permitting processes, and discuss possible methods of reform taking references from international literatures.

For a long time, there have existed a variety of problems in the management of public projects including overinvestment, slow construction progress, poor quality and corruption. Although many efforts have been done for a long time, the essential problems have not been solved at present. The main reason can be explained by no comprehensive measures from the aspects of system, the legal system and the mechanism at the same time. According to the experience of developing countries, this paper put forward the management of specialized organizations could be brought into guarantee the centralization, specialization, unification and investment efficiency of public projects. Then an innovative framework of public project management system has been built based on the centralized management system of Municipal Public Works Bureau in Shenzhen, which is a typical model of reform in China.

The spatial transformation is an important part of existing industrial buildings renovation, but the traditional ways of spatial transformation focused on theoretical analysis, and lacked quantitative research. The Space Syntax theory is introduced into the existing industrial building renovation in this paper. A space model of Chongqing Industrial Museum & Creative Park was built with convex space using the connectivity, depth, integration to measure the permeability, convenience and distribution degree of the space, to analyze its spatial form quantitatively and explore the effect of spatial arrangement on function. Taking the functional orientation into consideration, analyze whether the transformation plan is reasonable, put forward reasonable transformation strategies, and provide reference for future industrial building renovation.

According to the characteristics of quasi-public goods, this paper analyzes the adaptability of supplying quasi-public goods by PPP moderns. Transaction costs of three different pattern, government’s supply, enterprise’s supply and PPP patterns are made qualitative comparisons, while this paper analyzes the ways of innovation in supply entity in the case of market failure. At last approach of decreasing transaction cost has been discussed and both enterprise and government need to revolute for pushing the development of PPP modern had been proved.

Developing IPD (Integrated Project Delivery) in projects requires the operable implementation scheme that can improve productivity and earn more profits. And it is important to provide incentives tied to achieving project goals. This paper suggested cooperative game theory as the method for analyzing profit distribution in IPD project and determined the designer, construction contractor, owner, BIM consultant as the key participants according the degree of importance in IPD projects. The main purpose of this paper is to: (1) Building the framework of BIM platform and using information sharing to guarantee the achievement of IPD project. (2) Exploring the profit distribution model of IPD according to various cooperative game theoretic solution methods. (3) Using the Shapley value to achieve the distribution of profits and the FCE (Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation) methods to quantize the risk of each index, while the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) was used to give the weight. (4) Exploring the application of the identified allocation rules based on the case study of Autodesk Inc.

This case report describes a male patient, 5 years old, with recurrent nose congestion and fetid discharge from the right nasal cavity. The suspected clinical diagnosis of a supernumerary nasal tooth was confirmed by computed tomography (CT). Laboratory examination showed normal. After endoscopic removal in general anesthesia, the tooth was examined by pathological examination. A literature search identified 22 supernumerary nasal teeth in 21 patients.

Multiple myeloma (MM) cells secrete osteoclastogenic factors that promote osteolytic lesions; however, the identity of these factors is largely unknown. Here, we performed a screen of human myeloma cells to identify pro-osteoclastogenic agents that could potentially serve as therapeutic targets for ameliorating MM-associated bone disease. We found that myeloma cells express high levels of the matrix metalloproteinase MMP-13 and determined that MMP-13 directly enhances osteoclast multinucleation and bone-resorptive activity by triggering upregulation of the cell fusogen DC-STAMP. Moreover, this effect was independent of the proteolytic activity of the enzyme. Further, in mouse xenograft models, silencing MMP-13 expression in myeloma cells inhibited the development of osteolytic lesions. In patient cohorts, MMP-13 expression was localized to BM-associated myeloma cells, while elevated MMP-13 serum levels were able to correctly predict the presence of active bone disease. Together, these data demonstrate that MMP-13 is critical for the development of osteolytic lesions in MM and that targeting the MMP-13 protein - rather than its catalytic activity - constitutes a potential approach to mitigating bone disease in affected patients.

This study assessed the roles of Tau gene short tandem repeats (STRs) nested within intron 1 (rs5820604 and rs10675722) and Apolipoprotein E (ApoE) gene polymorphisms in 70 late-onset Alzheimer's disease (AD) subjects, 70 vascular dementia (VD) subjects, and 70 normal controls (NCs) in Guizhou Han population. Our data suggest that the Tau gene STR loci rs5820604 (CA)(19) allele may increase the risk of AD, whereas the (CA)(16) allele may be protective. The Tau gene STR loci rs10675722 (TA)(17) allele may increase the risk for AD and VD. In addition, a synergistic effect of polymorphisms in ApoE ε4 and Tau gene STR loci rs5820604 (CA)(19) allele was found in the pathogenesis of AD (p = .025, OR [odds ratio] = 3.178, 95% CI [confidence interval] = 1.156-8.741).

eIF4E is the key regulator of protein translation and critical for translation. The oncogenic potential of tumorigenesis, which is highly contingent on cap-dependent eIF4E, also arises from the critical role in the nuclear export and cytosolic translation of oncogenic transcripts. Inhibition of Exportin1 (XPO1), which is the major nuclear export protein for eIF4E-bound oncoprotein mRNAs, results in decreased tumor cell growth in vitro and in vivo, suggesting that eIF4E is critical in multiple myeloma. Indeed, we found that eIF4E is overexpressed in myeloma cell lines and primary myeloma cells compared with normal plasma cells. Although stable overexpression of eIF4E in multiple myeloma cells significantly increases tumorigenesis, knockdown of eIF4E impairs multiple myeloma tumor progression in a human xenograft mouse model. Using a tet-on–inducible eIF4E-knockdown system, eIF4E downregulation blocks multiple myeloma tumor growth in vivo, correlating with decreased eIF4E expression. Further overexpression and knockdown of eIF4E revealed that eIF4E regulates translation of mRNAs with highly complex 5′-untranslated regions, such as c-MYC and C/EBPβ, and subsequently proliferation in multiple myeloma cells, but not in nonmalignant bone marrow stromal cells. Because many transcription factors that are critical for multiple myeloma proliferation exhibit a higher dependency on protein translation, eIF4E is an ideal and selective tool to target multiple myeloma cell growth. Let G be a finite group, p the smallest prime dividing the order of G, and P a Sylow p-subgroup of G with the smallest generator number d. Consider a set ${\cal M}_d(P)=\{P_1,\dots,P_d\}$ of maximal subgroups of P such that $\bigcap_{i=1}^d P_i=\Phi (P)$. It is shown that if every member ${\cal M}_d(P)$ of is either S-quasinormally embedded or C-normal in G, then G is p-nilpotent. As its applications, some further results are obtained.

Hypertrophic scar (HS) remains a major problem in plastic surgery. In order to explore the regulative effect of phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) on HS, PTEN and AKT expression was detected by reverse transcription PCR, immunohistochemistry and western blot. Adenovirus-mediated PTEN overexpression in cultured hypertrophic scar fibroblasts (HSFBs) and normal skin fibroblasts was also introduced to evaluate its biological function. Our results showed that PTEN expression was significantly decreased in HS whereas p-Akt level was significantly higher in HS compared with normal skin (P < 0.01). Furthermore, we found that adenovirus-mediated PTEN overexpression led to decreased AKT activation, and significantly reduced cell proliferation and collagen synthesis of HSFBs, while increased the apoptosis. Taken together, these data suggest that PTEN inhibits proliferation and function of HSFBs through AKT pathway. Our results reveal a novel biological role for PTEN/AKT pathway in HS and suggest PTEN as a potential therapeutic target for HS treatment.

In this paper, we investigate the multiple attribute decision making problems for evaluating physical education teaching effectiveness with triangular fuzzy information. We utilize the triangular fuzzy weighted average (TFWA) operator to aggregate the triangular fuzzy information corresponding to each alternative and get the overall value of the alternatives, then rank the alternatives and select the most desirable one(s) according to the possibility degree between the overall value of the alternatives. Finally, an illustrative example for evaluating physical education teaching effectiveness with triangular fuzzy information is given.

Let G be a finite group. A subgroup H of G is called a CAP-subgroup if the following condition is satisfied: for each chief factor K/L of G either HK = HL or H ∩ K = H ∩ L. Let p be a prime factor of |G| and let P be a Sylow p-subgroup of G. If d is the minimum number of generators of P then there exists a family of maximal subgroups of P, denoted by Md(P)={P1, P2,…, Pd} such that ∩i=1dPi= ϕ(P). In this paper, we investigate the group G satisfying the condition: every member of a fixed Md(P) is a CAP-subgroup of G. For example, if, in addition, G is p-solvable, then G is p-supersolvable.

A subgroup H of a group G is called a CAP*-subgroup of G, if H either covers or avoids every non-Frattini chief factor of G. In this article, we give some interesting properties of CAP*-subgroups. Furthermore, we determine the structure of finite groups based on the assumption that some subgroups are CAP*-subgroups and generalize some known results.

A subgroup H of a group G is said to be weakly SS-quasinormal if there exists a subgroup B of G such that HB is normal in G and for any prime p with (p; jHj) = 1, H permutes with every Sylow p-subgroup of B and Sylp(B) Sylp(G). In this article, we study the inuence of weakly SS-quasinormal minimal subgroups of a nite group. Our results generalize the recent results obtained about the classi cation of a group by considering the SS-quasinormality of some subgroups

Biocompatible, highly interconnected microporous poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) foams or scaffolds with nano-fibrous structure, containing pores with diameters of 0.1-3.5 μm and fibers with diameters of 300-700 nm scale, were prepared through the thermally induced liquid-liquid phase separation (TIPS) method using N,N'-dimethyl acetamide (DMAc) as solvent. Various foam morphologies were obtained by changing parameters involved in the TIPS process, such as polymer concentration, solvent composition, and quenching temperatures. The morphology of different foams was examined by scanning electron microscopy, whereas the pore size and the pore size distribution were calculated. The results showed that most porous foams presented nano-fibrous structure with interconnected open pores. In the case of using DMAc as solvent, with increasing polymer concentration, either the average pore diameter or the pore size distribution exhibited a maximum value at 0.05 g/mL polymer concentration and quenching temperature of -30°C. It was found that all the pore size distribution fit the F-distribution equation. With increasing the quenching temperature from -30°C to -10°C, the maximum average pore diameter of the foams decreased and the pore size distribution became narrower, whereas the polymer concentration exhibiting the maximum pore size and widest pore size distribution increased from 0.05 g/mL to 0.07 g/mL. In the case of using the mixed solvent of DMAc/DOX (1,4-dioxane) from 9/1 to 7/3 (v/v) there appeared a maximum value of average pore diameter and a widest pore size distribution all at 0.05 g/mL PLLA concentration and quenching temperature of -30°C. The maximum pore size tends to increase with increasing DOX content.

Dynamic buckling of functionally graded materials truncated conical shells subjected to normal impact loads is discussed in this paper. In the analysis, the material properties of functionally graded materials shells are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction according to a simple power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. Geometrically nonlinear large deformation and the initial imperfections are taken into account. Galerkin procedure and Runge–Kutta integration scheme are used to solve nonlinear governing equations numerically. From the characteristics of dynamic response obtain critical loads of the shell according to B-R criterion. From the research results it can be found that gradient properties of the materials have significant effects on the critical buckling loads of FGM shells.

The structure, electronic property, and infrared spectroscopy of endohedral metallofullerenes TM@C20 (TM = Ce and Gd) have been systematically investigated with the aid of the hybrid DFT-B3LYP functional. It is found that in the endohedral metallofullerenes the average CC bond lengths are obvious longer than those of empty cage. The frontier orbital analyses show that the endohedral metallofullerene Gd@C20 has the high-thermodynamic stability. Natural population analysis also tells us that only in the Ce@C20, the Ce atom acts as an electron acceptor with the negative charges, and the 4f orbitals of Ce and Gd atoms have a significant contribution in the formation of chemical bonding. Additionally, the analyses of harmonic vibrational frequencies reveal that when the TM atoms are encapsulated into the C20 cage, the strongest absorption peaks are characterized by a mixture of TM−C bending and CC stretching vibrations. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Let G be a finite group. By using the concept of strong θ-completions for maximal subgroups of G, we obtain in this paper some new conditions under which G is solvable or supersolvable.

Given a finite group G, we define the subgroup D(G) to be the intersection of the normalizers of derived subgroups of all subgroups of G. Set D0=1. Define Di+1(G)/Di(G)=D(G/Di(G)) for i⩾1. By D∞(G) denote the terminal term of the ascending series. It is proved that the derived subgroup G′ is nilpotent if and only if G=D∞(G). Furthermore, if all elements of prime order of G are in D(G), then G is soluble with Fitting length at most 3. In Section 3, it is proved that if the group G satisfies G=D(G), then G′ is nilpotent and G″ has nilpotency class at most 2.

A subgroup H of a finite group G is called Hall normally embedded in G if H is a Hall subgroup of the normal closure H G . Groups which contain a Hall normally embedded subgroup of order d for every factor d of | G | are characterized. Such groups are supersolvable with a cyclic nilpotent residual of square-free order.

A group G is called an “ℋ-QC-group” if for any element x of order 2 or 4 of G, ⟨x⟩ ⟨y⟩ = ⟨y⟩ ⟨x⟩ for all y in G. In this article, we investigate the structure of the groups G of the title. Suppose that G is non-2-closed and non-2-nilpotent, then it turns out that such a group is either S 4 or a uniquely determined group of order 48 or A 5 or SL(2,5). The corresponding problem for G 2-closed or 2-nilpotent is open but very difficult.

A subgroup H of G is said to be self-conjugate-permutable if HHx = HxH implies Hx = H. A finite group G is called PSC-group if every cyclic subgroup of group G of prime order or order 4 is self-conjugate-permutable. In the paper, first we give the structure of finite group G, all of whose maximal subgroups are PSC-groups. Then we also classified that finite group G all of whose second maximal subgroups are PSC-groups.

If H is a subgroup of a finite group G then we denote the normal closure of H in G by HG. We call G a PE-group if every minimal subgroup X of G satisfies NG(X) ∩ XG = X. The authors classify the finite non-PE-groups whose maximal subgroups of even order are PE-groups.

A subgroup of a group G is said to be Sylow-quasinormal (S-quasinormal) in G if it permutes with every Sylow subgroup of G. A subgroup H of a group G is said to be Supplement-Sylow-quasinormal (SS-quasinormal) in G if there is a supplement B of H to G such that H is permutable with every Sylow subgroup of B. In this article, we investigate the influence of SS-quasinormal of maximal or minimal subgroups of Sylow subgroups of the generalized Fitting subgroup of a finite group.

In this article, the structure of a finite group G under some assumptions on the S-quasinormal and normal embedding of subgroups in ℳ d p (G p ), for each prime p, and Sylow p-subgroups G p of G is investigated.

Hirudin, the most potent inhibitor of thrombin found in nature, has a short half-life in serum, which significantly limits its clinical application as an anticoagulant. Recently, PEGylation has been commonly used as an effective method to prolong its half-life in serum. In contrast to the nonspecific PEGylation under basic conditions that targets lysine residues randomly, PEGylation sites under mildly acidic conditions preferably targets histidine residues, and there is only one histidine residue at 51 in r-hirudin; therefore, succinimidyl carbonyl methoxy polyethylene glycol (SC-mPEG, 20000) was attached to r-hirudin at mildly acidic pH to favor the formation of mono-PEGylated r-hirudin. The reaction mixture with high mono-PEGylated ratio was easily separated by a one-step ion-exchange chromatographic (IEC) procedure. Approximately 79.71% of the mono-PEGylated r-hirudin was PEGylated at His51, which showed that the acidic PEGylation operation prevented the PEGylation of active center (Lys47) of r-hirudin in principle. Mono-PEGylated product with purity higher than 95% was obtained as the predominant product, and 34% of the anticoagulant activity was retained in vitro. The staining method for sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) was improved to obtain perfect electrophoretic pattern in less than 5min. More accurate molecular weight was deduced due to the use of PEGs as molecular weight standards.

Based on the Lord and Shulman generalized thermo-elastic theory with one relaxation time, the dynamic thermal and elastic responses of a piezoelectric rod fixed at both ends and subjected to a moving heat source are investigated. The generalized piezoelectric–thermoelastic coupled governing equations for piezoelectric rod are formulated. By means of Laplace transformation and numerical Laplace inversion the governing equations are solved. Numerical calculation for stress, displacement and temperature within the rod is carried out and displayed graphically. The effect of moving heat source speed on temperature, stress and temperature is studied. It is found from the distributions that the temperature, thermally induced displacement and stress of the rod are found to decrease at large source speed.

Deformations of homogeneous and isotropic pinned-pinned and fixed-fixed Euler-Bernoulli beams supported on nonlinear elastic foundations and heated uniformly into the postbuckling regime have been analyzed numerically. Geometric nonlinearities introduced by finite deflections and curvature of the deformed beams are incorporated in the problem formulation. First buckling due to the uniform temperature rise and buckling mode transitions are investigated analytically by analyzing the linear problem. Subsequently, the nonlinear boundary-value problems for postbuckling of beams are transformed into initial-value problems and analyzed by the shooting method. For different values of the elastic foundation parameters, postbuckled configurations are illustrated.

A group G is called an ATI-group if for any abelian subgroup A of G, A ∩ A x = 1 or A for all x ∈ G . In this paper the finite ATI-groups are classified.

For a group G, a subgroup H oi G is said to be conjugate permutable if HHX = HXH for any x G G. This concept was introduced by Foguel. In this note, we call a subgroup H self-conjugate permutable in G if HHX = HXH implies Hx = H. This is the dual of the concept of conjugate permutable subgroups. A Cl-group is a group all of whose cyclic subgroups are self-conjugate permutable; and a C2-group is a group all of whose cyclic subgroups are conjugate permutable or self-conjugate permutable. Some properties of conjugate permutable subgroups and self-conjugate permutable subgroups for a any group are obtained, and the structure of finite Cl and C2-groups are described.

Objective: We developed a new surgical model of penile girth enhancement in dog, with minimal damage, fewer complications, and high success rate, to enable the experimental investigation of penile implants. Methods: We obtained materials for penile girth enhancement by processing the pericardium and blood vessel wall collected from pigs. Incisions were made at the penile bulb for the implantation of the materials, and facilitate observation and data collection, based on the anatomical features of dog’s penis. We measured the girth of the flaccid penis before and after the operation, and erectile function at 1-month postoperation. In addition to evaluation of recovery from the incision and local pathological changes, ultrasonic examination was performed to monitor the long-term changes associated with implantation. Results: The mean girth of the flaccid penis significantly increased from 7.37±0.40 cm before the operation, to 8.70±0.56 cm postoperation. Dogs resumed normal mating at 1 month after the operation, without any significant change in the mating time. Ultrasonic examination clearly illustrated the implants, and helped in the measurement of the distance between the materials and the baculum. Conclusion: Chinese Rural dog is a promising animal model for penile girth enhancement surgery. The findings demonstrated that surgical implantation into penile bulb was associated with less damage, faster postoperative recovery, and higher success. For the first time, ultrasonic examination provided objective data on the surgical outcomes of penile girth enhancement.

Clusterin (CLU) is known as a multifunctional protein involved in a variety of physiological processes including lipid transport, epithelial cell differentiation, tumorigenesis, and apoptosis. Our recent study has demonstrated that knockdown of clusterin sensitizes pancreatic cancer cell lines to gmcitabine treatment. However the details of this survival mechanism remain undefined. Of the various downstream targets of CLU, we examined activation of the NF-kB transcription factor and subsequent transcriptional regulation of BCL-2 gene in pancreatic cancer cell MIA-PaCa-2. The MIA-PaCa-2 cells were transfected with an antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) against clusterin, which led to a decreased protein level of the antiapoptotic gene BCL-2. Furthermore, inhibition of CLU decreased the function of NF-kB, which is capable of transcriptional regulation of the BCL-2 gene. Inhibiting this pathway increased the apoptotic effect of gmcitabine chemotherapy. Re-activated NF-kB resulted in attenuation of ASO-induced effects, followed by the bcl-2 upregulation, and bcl-2 re-inhibition resulted in attenuation of Re-activated NF-kB -induced effects. Animals injected with ASO CLU in MIA-PaCa-2 cells combined with gmcitabine treatment had fewer tumors than gmcitabine or ASO CLU alone. These findings suggest that knockdown of CLU sensitized MIA-PaCa-2 cells to gmcitabine chemotherapy through modulating NF-Kb/bcl-2 pathway.
