We provide the transcription of the handwritten document entitled “Notes on the foundation of the Colegio de San Luis Gonz[aga]. Puerto de Sta. M.ª”, preserved in the Archivo de España de la Compañía de Jesús (AESI-A, Alcalá de Henares, Madrid), and unpublished to date. The author of the manuscript, which is dated in Cádiz on July 8, 1881, is the Cádiz merchant Antonio de Zulueta Madariaga (1815-1886). We believe that it is a documentary source of interest, since Mr. Zulueta was one of the main promoters of the Jesuit secondary school of San Luis Gonzaga, founded in Puerto Real (1864) by an association of parents. In addition, Zulueta served as secretary of the founding committee of the said school, ultimately established (1867) in El Puerto de Santa María, in a completely new building, after having functioned two school years in provisional premises. The "Notes" include the reproduction of six documents, two of them printed, related to the history of the school between 1864 and 1875. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Based on the reflections of composer Luciano Berio (1988; 2006; 2017) on transcription, we have separated five approaches that touch upon various areas of musical domains and discussed how they may relate to creative and analytical processes. The article reviews virtual symposium titled "Early American Studies Scholarship beyond the Book" held by Society of Early Americanists (SEA) held on April 15, 2022. It mentions Douglass Day Project accomplishes through their crowdsourcing digital transcription project and popular means of public scholarship in how it provides new, digitized resources for the community and encourages collective action.

Thematic Analysis is one of several possibilities for analyzing qualitative data. The reflection carried out in this study is an unprecedented contribution to the effectiveness of Thematic Analysis, especially by researchers in the beginning of qualitative research. The proposed Thematic Analysis is guided by seven stages, the first three being preliminary or approaching the phenomenon. The steps suggested for analysis include: data collection, literal transcription of the data, environment with the data (familiarize), accommodation of the data in an analysis instrument (accommodation of the fragments of the speech), identification of context units, nuclei of meaning and themes. Performed in this way, it may facilitate the journey of the novice researcher. The implementation of the reasoning proposed in this study may facilitate and assist the researcher in conducting paths that make the submission of qualitative data to Thematic Analysis simpler and more practical. The article focuses on the similarities in the genesis of Photius' Library and Mystagogia: after recalling the results of the most recent studies on the first and proposing some new hypotheses on the nature and origin of its chapters, it analyses the structure of the Mystagogia, showing that this work derives from the transcription of a composite dossier-prototype prepared by Photius from very heterogeneous sources. Some similarities in the contents of the two works suggest using the same set of materials to compose some sections of both, at different times in the scholar's life. This reconstruction seems to confirm the late dating of the Library (proposed in previous works) and implies a radically new dating for some parts of the Mystagogia, which will be the subject of a further contribution. The first edition of Musik, Tanz und Dichtung bei den Kreolen Amerikas (1913) is pioneer in revealing, with European discipline and technical mastery, the train of poetic thought and the sonic beauties of the Creoles, together with its complementary publication of 1911. The novelty lies in the reliable method that goes from the whole to the parts, with a joint vision. Part of the interdisciplinary analysis of written and oral sources, of transcriptions made by the author himself and testimonies collected in the place of origin of each artistic work. Albert Friedenthal (1862-1921), german pianist and musicgrapher, knew how to perceive different times, attending to the process of other cultures and their sound systems according to inherent rules. His meticulous work led him to preserve the musical languages of Spanish-American places, projecting his research in a European context. The study aimed to know the perceptions of professionals of the Network of Care for Women in Situations of Violence of the municipality located in the interior of Ceará. This is an exploratory study with a qualitative approach, conducted with professionals working in the areas of social assistance and health of the municipality. As a data collection technique, focus groups were used, with recording of the meeting for later transcription of the speeches, the data analysis was based on Bardin's content analysis. The results indicated that in both focus groups, most professionals understand that the services in which they work are part of the Assistance Network. As for their understanding of the articulation between the services, obstacles and facilitators were listed, categorized into three levels. Our Sabaic inscription bears the siglum mb 2006 i-54 (fig. 2) and records an offering of a bronze statuette dedicated to the Sabaean god Almaqah at the Awām temple/Maḥram Bilqīs, near Maʾrib, Yemen (Maraqten 2015: 109–135). Item Description: Base of a statuette, now missing, inscribed on one face. The inscription, canted slightly downwards and is engraved between double, lightly-incised horizontal double-lines. The face of the stone is polished; the top surface, where the statuette would have been attached, is broken away and the first line is mostly lost. The lower left corner is broken away and some parts of the stone edges are slightly damaged. The text is intact apart from few lost letters in the first line. Although the upper part of the inscription is partly lost, its reconstruction, as indicated in the transcription, is possible with reference to line 11. This 14 lines inscription has been discovered during the ninth afsm season, 2006 in the Annex of the Awām temple and is reused in the pavement. The measurements of this inscribed block are as follows: 35×22cm; letter height: 1.5×1.7cm. Almaqah curved club symbol occurs at beginning of line one and two; the upper part is broken. This article presents a new transcription of 4Q9 on the basis of the new photographs and the identification of four more fragments. The irregular hand and the scribal errors indicate that the scribe was not very skilled. Orthographically and morphologically the text is very close to the Samaritan Pentateuch. On June 21, 1852, in his thesis to obtain the doctoral degree at the Faculty of Medicine of Rio de Janeiro, Francisco José do Canto e Mello Castro Mascarenhas recorded the first systematization of medical and surgical works, published or known in Brazil prior to the establishment of medical schools in 1832. Despite its originality, this work is still little known in Brazilian historiography, and the list of selected books is also not extensively explored by those investigating the teaching of medical professions in 19thcentury Brazil. Therefore, the objective of this article is to present, accompanied by a brief commentary on the author and the work, a complete and unpublished transcription of this pioneering bibliographic essay by Canto e Mello. This article is part of a discussion about teaching work and it proposes the analysis of actoriality as an aspect of the constitution of teaching professionality. For this purpose, we bring relevant aspects to understanding its concept, that has particular features of the actor in representation of the actant role or the individual as the source of the act. In support of this approach, we consider the methodological and theoretical basis of the Sociodiscursive Interactionism (Bronckart, 1999, 2006, 2008, 2013), with the contribution of Didactic of Language, most specifically about the didactic gestures (Aeby-Daghé; Dolz, 2008; Schneuwly, 2009). Data corpus consists of the transcription of interviews with the teacher after her participation in the course of further education that requires the planning and the conduction of a Project Didactic of Genre in her class. For the analysis, we focus on identifying the action figures (Bulea, 2010, 2016; Almeida, 2015). Results point to the verbalization of the aspects of teaching actoriality which are abilities, reasons and intentions, with an emphasis on relevance of the didactic gestures in the level of intentions. Transcription is an integral part of much qualitative data analysis, yet rarely has it received close attention in debates over the use (or non-use) of computer assisted qualitative data analysis software (CAQDAS). This article draws upon a mixed-methods study that involved transcribing conversational interviews with carers, third sector practitioners and policy-makers, to explore how computer assisted transcription software (CATS) can affect data and its analysis in ways unanticipated at the outset by researchers. From an agential realist perspective, the article outlines three steps towards making principled choices over the use (or non-use) of CAQDAS in qualitative data analysis. These steps require navigating extremes associated with technological determinism; that we re-think our understandings of the software-data-researcher relationship; and that we move away from asking how well a given CAQDAS can 'perform' and towards exploring what a given CAQDAS can (and cannot) do. A transcription is given of conjectures made by A. E. Housman in his personal copy of Emil Baehrens' 1878 edition of Tibullus and the Appendix Tibulliana. This article examines a text known as the 'Admonitio synodalis' as evidence for episcopal expectations of local priests in the tenth and eleventh centuries. The 'Admonitio' is generally considered a stable text that represented and fostered continuity within the Church, but this article highlights instead its early development. It begins by identifying a previously unedited version of the text found in some tenth-century manuscripts, arguing that this long recension is the closest to the original form. It then turns to how the text was adapted in the tenth century, notably by Bishop Rather of Verona. It finally examines the changes made to the text when it was incorporated into the liturgy of synodal ordines in the early eleventh century. This article discusses subtitling strategies taken by Lebah Ganteng in the Indonesian subtitle of the movie entitled The Imitation Game. The aims of this research were to describe how various subtitling strategies are applied in giving the subtitles to the movie from English into Indonesian and to find out the distribution of the strategies used from the most frequent to the least. This research applied a descriptive-qualitative method. The data were analyzed based on Gottlieb's subtitling strategies theory. The finding shows that there are eight of the total ten subtitling strategies are applied. Transfer takes 24% of the total, followed by deletion (23%), paraphrase (17%), imitation (11%), condensation (9%), expansion (9%), decimation (6%), and transcription (1%). Two strategies left unapplied are dislocation and resignation. From the comparison, It can be concluded that transfer is the dominant strategy used in the subtitling process of the movie. The historical archive of the Almo Collegio Borromeo in Pavia holds a small but significant collection of fragments of various origin, possibly all Italian, dating between the 12th and 14th centuries. In the first part of the contribution, the liturgical texts are analysed and compared with other liturgical traditions, in as far as possible; in the second part, the musical notations are examined, in relation to the musical scripts attested in Italy for those centuries. In the previous installment of Textus , Yehonatan Wormser acutely argued that the so-called dagesh lene in the standard Tiberian tradition was pronounced as a geminate consonant, effectively neutralising the distinction between lene and forte. This he did by invoking the "principle of economy" and comparing the dagesh to the shewa , as well as by drawing evidence from Karaite transcriptions and non-standard Tiberian manuscripts. I argue that his claim is not supported by his evidence: the transcriptions and non-standard manuscripts do not reflect the mainstream Tiberian tradition, but rather a late development; and the principle of economy does not apply in the cases of complementary distribution. In 1650, Menasseh ben Israel entered an inscription in the album amicorum owned by Hermannus Jacobi from Hanover. This article, the fourth in a series on Menasseh's album inscriptions, comprises a biographical sketch of Jacobi, followed by a photograph, a transcription, a translation, and an analysis of the inscription itself. New survey on the history of the ms. Vat. Pal. gr. 287 (P) of Euripides: its transcription in Demetrius Triclinius’ milieu by six scribal hands (including that of John Catrarius), its relationship with the ms. Laur. Plut. 32.2 (L), its use between the 14th and the 15th cent. The sharing of the same errors in both P and some unpublished Euripidean quotations held in the 14th-century De metris poeticis (ms. Vat. gr. 896) proves that P was used immediately after Triclinius’ death in a milieu of scholars interested in metrical studies. The last part of the research moves on to the Florentine milieu of the young Angelo Poliziano. While in his first transcription of Eur. Andr. 103-116 (ms. Vat. gr. 1373, f. 17r) Poliziano reproduced the text of P, in a second later transcription of the same text (ms. Laur. Plut. 81.6, f. 169v) he shows himself to have derived his text from L. Since other Euripidean quotations in Poliziano’s critical notes (BNP Rès. gr. Yc. 236) show to have been also related with the text of L, the hypothesis is presented here that the transcription of ms. Vat. gr. 1373 goes back to P through the mediation of another transcription that may have been given to Poliziano by John Argyropoulos. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The intensively developing Polish-Korean contacts and direct access to the knowledge of South Korea as one of the major East Asian countries obtained from Internet and media coverage have resulted in Korean toponyms being assimilated in the Polish language to an increasing extent. However, they are adapted in a number of ways, being mediated through two main systems of Latinising the Korean language, i.e. the McCune-Reischauer transcription and the modified MOE transcription, which is officially propagated by Korean authorities. This leads to a certain competition between the two systems, which are, moreover, often used in the situation of not only lack of command of the source language itself, but also ignorance of the conventional rules of the Latin transcription of Korean geographical names, which are different in both transcriptions. Moreover, toponyms must be assimilated based on various compromises between the phonological system of the source language and the system of the receiving language. Such a helpful compromise might be an additionally used Polonised transcription in the resource of letter symbols, but this requires substantial adjustments and additions as well as unavoidable concessions to make it easier for Polish recipients to decipher texts about Korea. From the perspective of historical standardisation of some characteristic Korean toponyms in Polish publications, various transcription tools, methods of their assimilation and adaptations, as well as the obvious cognitive barriers might become definitely more pronounced and informative for both text authors and recipients. Taking its inspiration from the 'Transitus' theme of the 12th Annual Illustration Research Symposium, hosted online 14–15 July 2022 by Falmouth University, United Kingdom, this editorial considers material expressions of what might be understood as the performative prefix 'trans-'. Each of the essays introduced here responds to an understanding of the crossing ground we are naming 'Transitus' as one which is invested in retaining a physical connection or trace in its referential, illustrative function. Not coincidentally, many of the articles included here identify this physical trace as one which partakes in the materiality of photography or celluloid, prompting a larger consideration of relationships between photography, film and illustrative practices. This identified relationship signals a desire to hold on to a material trace of the 'real' in order to ground a given narrative. Other examples of material anchoring to those of photography and film are also considered here as part of a broader theorization of illustration practices that hold on to the physical object or artefact in order to achieve their respective communicative acts of crossing over. This study presents a dataset serving as a benchmark for the recognition of printed text in lexical lists using Chinese-IPA glossing. The paper provides an overview of the baseline model, transcription model, and PyLaia engines employed in the research. Furthermore, it elucidates the specific need for digitizing the aforementioned lexical lists, outlines the methodology employed for training the baseline model for layout analysis, and describes the training process of the transcription model using the ground truth data generated on Transkribus. This comprehensive approach encompasses both the images of the lexical list content and their corresponding transcriptions as input. Additionally, the study highlights the limitations of the model and identifies avenues for future development. By making this dataset openly accessible, it can be utilized by researchers seeking to digitize lexical lists using Chinese-IPA glossing. Moreover, since the model can recognize both Chinese characters and IPA symbols, it has the potential to contribute to linguistic analysis of languages documented in Chinese-IPA glossing. This dataset is a compilation of Chinese transcriptions of Buddhist terms produced by translators from the late Hàn period. It is a compilation of the previous works of Coblin (1983), Karashima (2010), Vetter (2012), Hill, Nattier, Granger, and Kollmeier (2020) for the Chinese transcriptions. To these were added phonological reconstructions of the Chinese terms for late Hàn from Schuessler (2009) and Middle Chinese from Baxter and Sagart (2014a), as well as the Gandhari equivalents of Sanskrit and Pali terms from Baums and Glass (2002). This dataset, shared on Zenodo, aims at being the new state-of-the-art dataset on Buddhist transcription material and can be used by anyone working on Hàn Chinese phonology and will help better understanding the possible language sources of the Chinese transcriptions, as well as the phonology of the target Chinese dialects. Because most Sino-Tibetan languages with a literary tradition use Indic derived scripts and those that do not are each sui generis , there are advantages to transcribing these languages also along Indic lines. The article examines discourse as a phenomenon that includes an extremely wide cultural sphere. The phenomenon of "gastronomic communication" is described, and attention is also paid to the key aspect of gastronomic discourse - communication. This article describes the classification of gastronomic terms, their specific aspects. How to translate gastronomic terms, their use in the translation process in transformations, how the menu and its content are cross-cultural. Bernardino Telesio in his De rerum natura, has transcribed the life of his philosophizing, at the center of a dense network of reflections and ebbs of ancient and new doctrines, completely independent of the reasons and ways of his life, on which, mereover, in his writing, he stops for very brief hints and only to explain the reasons for the late development of his work. The weaving work carried outbrings out the fundamental fact that resides in the sistem of his philopsophy. We care about the actions carried out by Telesio, but above all the thoughts he conceived, in particular the nuances and differences between the anima and the spiritus. In this path also some of the greatest italian and foreign masters have dedicated themselves to the study of his works with the necessary acribia, and have provided us with the tools to be able to do so. In this framework of changes that were already being considered in 1919 regarding the future of the international system, the British decline and the American rise took place, which questioned the PhilBritish perspective of Chilean foreign policy. The United States entered the war with more decisive weight and that implied a greater political and economic presence worldwide. The role of literary agents in translation is intriguing yet under-researched. The mechanism of literary agenting vis-à-vis the initiation and promotion of translated literature is unexplored. This essay attempts to fill the gap by analyzing how Anna Holmwood, the principal translator and co-literary agent of Legends of the Condor Heroes, has initiated and promoted the translation. It first lays out how Holmwood's professional habitus as a literary agent was prototyped and developed. Drawing on firsthand materials such as email exchanges, speech transcriptions, interview records, and agent reports, it then examines how Holmwood's professional habitus empowered her to act as the initiator (selecting the book to be translated, signing the agenting contract, pitching, recommending co-translators, and titling the volumes) and sales promoter (coining the tagline 'A Chinese Lord of the Rings' and promoting the book on BBC) of the translation project, and recounts the process by which this translation came into being.
