Because LiFePO4 batteries are widely used in the energy storage system, their safety has received a great deal of research. If an internal short circuit (ISC) in a Li-ion battery energy storage system leads to thermal runaway, it will pose an uncontrollable hazard. Therefore, there is a proposed method in this study that is a one-dimensional voltage-correlated convolutional neural network (1DVCNN) to detect and localize ISC faults in time, which is a combination of feature extraction, correlation analysis, and convolutional neural networks. First, the voltage signal of the LiFePO4 battery collected in the energy storage system is then converted into a Pearson Correlation Coefficient (PCC) by correlation analysis of the data. Specific PCCs are then selected as features of a one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1DCNN) to diagnose faults. Finally, the fault dataset is used to train the model and the results are then validated against the untrained fault data. In this paper, the ISC faults are modeled by both building an actual training platform for lithium batteries and MATLAB simulations to obtain the dataset used to train the proposed model. By comparing the accuracy of the training results of the models using different features, it is found that 1DVCNN is able to detect the ISC fault in the energy storage system in a more timely and effective manner than in other studies.

Abstract Hepatic leukemia factor (HLF) is aberrantly expressed in human malignancies. However, the role of HLF in the regulation of ovarian cancer (OC) remains unknown. Herein, we reported that HLF expression was upregulated in OC tissues and ovarian cancer stem cells (CSCs). Functional studies have revealed that HLF regulates OC cell stemness, proliferation, and metastasis. Mechanistically, HLF transcriptionally activated Yes-associated protein 1 (YAP1) expression and subsequently modulated the Hippo signaling pathway. Moreover, we found that miR-520e directly targeted HLF 3′-UTR in OC cells. miR-520e expression was negatively correlated with HLF and YAP1 expression in OC tissues. The combined immunohistochemical (IHC) panels exhibited a better prognostic value for OC patients than any of these components alone. Importantly, the HLF/YAP1 axis determines the response of OC cells to carboplatin treatment and HLF depletion or the YAP1 inhibitor verteporfin abrogated carboplatin resistance. Analysis of patient-derived xenografts (PDXs) further suggested that HLF might predict carboplatin benefits in OC patients. In conclusion, these findings suggest a crucial role of the miR-520e/HLF/YAP1 axis in OC progression and chemoresistance, suggesting potential therapeutic targets for OC.

Abstract Smart sensors with excellent performance are accelerating the development of biomedicine and the Internet of Energy. Nanodielectrics exhibit unique electrical and mechanical properties. As the predominant materials in optical magnetic field sensor (MFS), they can not only exert the anti‐interference of optical sensing, but improve the measuring characteristics of optical sensors. For instance, the optical fibre quantum probe for the magnetic field can obtain a higher sensitivity of 0.57 nT/Hz1/2, while the measurement range of the sensor that uses Co‐doped ZnO nanorods as cladding is 17–180 mT. Here, these exciting recent achievements in the realm of optical sensing methods for magnetic field detection are reviewed, with a focus on nanodielectrics, which provide an emerging opportunity to achieve higher sensitivity and a wider measurement range of MFS.

Abstract Background There are few studies on acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) in patients with recompensated cirrhosis. This study was aimed to investigate the clinical features of ACLF patients with recompensated cirrhosis. Methods A total of 461 ACLF patients were enrolled and divided into three groups: compensated, recompensated, and decompensated cirrhosis with ACLF. The baseline clinical data and 1-year survival rates were compared among the three groups. Results Compared with the decompensated group, in the recompensated group, the levels of hemoglobin, albumin, and serum sodium were significantly higher and the white blood cell count, international normalized ratio, and incidence of respiratory failure were significantly lower; there were no evident differences in other organ failures. The proportion of patients with ACLF grade 3 and 1-year survival rates significantly differed between the two groups. Conversely, compared with the compensated group, in the recompensated group, the platelet and total bilirubin levels were significantly lower and the proportion of patients with ACLF grade 1 was significantly higher. However, other clinical indicators or 1-year survival rates did not significantly differ between the two groups. Conclusions Compared with patients who developed ACLF with decompensated cirrhosis, those who developed ACLF with recompensated cirrhosis had a less severe condition, lower incidence of respiratory failure, and better 1-year prognosis. However, the baseline clinical features and prognosis were similar between ACLF patients with recompensated and compensated cirrhosis. Abstract A muon collider would enable the big jump ahead in energy reach that is needed for a fruitful exploration of fundamental interactions. The challenges of producing muon collisions at high luminosity and 10 TeV centre of mass energy are being investigated by the recently-formed International Muon Collider Collaboration. This Review summarises the status and the recent advances on muon colliders design, physics and detector studies. The aim is to provide a global perspective of the field and to outline directions for future work.

Abstract We present a comprehensive study on how to distinguish the properties of heavy dijet resonances at hadron colliders. A variety of spins, chiral couplings, charges, and QCD color representations are considered. Distinguishing the different color representations is particularly difficult at hadron colliders. To determine the QCD color structure, we consider a third jet radiated in a resonant dijet event. We show that the relative rates of three-jet versus two-jet processes are sensitive to the color representation of the resonance. We also show analytically that the antennae radiation pattern of soft radiation depends on the color structure of dijet events and develops an observable that is sensitive to the antennae patterns. Finally, we exploit a Convolutional Neural Network with Machine Learning techniques to differentiate the radiation patterns from different colored resonances and find encouraging results to discriminate them. We demonstrate our results numerically at a 14 TeV LHC, and the methodology presented here should be applicable to other future hadron colliders.

Abstract Ferroptosis is a recently discovered essential type of cell death that is mainly characterized by iron overload and lipid peroxidation. Emerging evidence suggests that ferroptosis is a double-edged sword in human cancer. However, the precise underlying molecular mechanisms and their differential roles in tumorigenesis are unclear. Therefore, in this review, we summarize and briefly present the key pathways of ferroptosis, paying special attention to the regulation of ferroptosis as well as its dual role as an oncogenic and as a tumor suppressor event in various human cancers. Moreover, multiple pharmacological ferroptosis activators are summarized, and the prospect of targeting ferroptosis in cancer therapy is further elucidated.

In the future, high-speed vehicles will develop towards the integration of aviation and aerospace technologies, such as longer range and faster speed, and constantly break through the boundary of flight speed and cruising space. With the continuous increase of flight speed, the thermal load is becoming more and more severe. Meanwhile, the requirements of multi-function integrated design of thermal protection structures and strong constraints on structural quality have put forward new requirements and challenges for thermal protection. In response to these, new features and needs of thermal protection are emerged, and the demand for thermal protection has undergone significant changes. There are obvious gaps in existing technologies, design methods, and recognition of relevant scientific issues, so revolutionary technologies are urgently needed. Therefore, the concept of new thermal barrier was proposed in this paper. It analysed the research status of long time heating, non-ablative heat protection and refined thermal environment prediction, pointed out the specific connotation and important development direction of new thermal barrier, reviewed the new direction and new methods being explored in thermal protection technology, including low ablative/non-ablative technology, system genome material design method, channel-based innovative thermal protection technology, etc. It is believed that solving the new thermal barrier is a scientific and technological problem to break through the limit of existing thermal protection technology, and it is necessary to break through the bottleneck problem of thermal protection of high-speed aircraft with multi-approach combination, multi-method synthesis and multidiscipline crossing. It explores innovative solutions to the problem of new thermal barrier from the aspects of refined thermal environment prediction and control, multi-scale performance prediction of thermal protection materials, new design approach of thermal protection materials, innovative thermal structure, etc. The progress of related research was summarized.

Path planning is a key problem in the autonomous navigation of mobile robots and a research hotspot in the field of robotics. Harris Hawk Optimization (HHO) faces challenges such as low solution accuracy and a slow convergence speed, and it easy falls into local optimization in path planning applications. For this reason, this paper proposes a Multi-strategy Improved Harris Hawk Optimization (MIHHO) algorithm. First, the double adaptive weight strategy is used to enhance the search capability of the algorithm to significantly improve the convergence accuracy and speed of path planning; second, the Dimension Learning-based Hunting (DLH) search strategy is introduced to effectively balance exploration and exploitation while maintaining the diversity of the population; and then, Position update strategy based on Dung Beetle Optimizer algorithm is proposed to reduce the algorithm’s possibility of falling into local optimal solutions during path planning. The experimental results of the comparison of the test functions show that the MIHHO algorithm is ranked first in terms of performance, with significant improvements in optimization seeking ability, convergence speed, and stability. Finally, MIHHO is applied to robot path planning, and the test results show that in four environments with different complexities and scales, the average path lengths of MIHHO are improved by 1.99%, 14.45%, 4.52%, and 9.19% compared to HHO, respectively. These results indicate that MIHHO has significant performance advantages in path planning tasks and helps to improve the path planning efficiency and accuracy of mobile robots.

3,4-bis(3-nitrofurazan-4-yl) furoxan (DNTF) is an explosive with excellent performance, and the use of DNTF as a high-energy component is of great significance for improving the comprehensive performance of weapons. To explore the effect of DNTF on low-melting-point molten carrier explosives, the compatibility between DNTF and other low-melting-point explosives was analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry, and mechanical sensitivity was tested. The compatibility and cohesive energy density between DNTF and other low-melting-point explosives were calculated by Materials Studio. The results showed that DNTF has good compatibility with most low-melting-point explosives, and the peak temperature change of the mixed system formed by melt-casting is not obvious. Among them, DNTF has the best compatibility with MTNP, TNT, and DNAN; moderate compatibility with DFTNAN and DNP; and the worst compatibility with DNMT. The sensitivity test results indicate that the combination of DNTF and TNT has the most significant reduction in mechanical sensitivity. DFTNAN and MTNP have better stability than DNTF and can generate strong interaction forces with DNTF. Other low-melting-point explosives mixed with DNTF have lower intermolecular forces than DNTF. The DNTF/MTNP system requires the most energy to phase change when heated compared to other mixed systems and is the least sensitive to heat. The DNTF/DNMT system has the lowest cohesive energy density and is the most sensitive to heat.

As global climate change intensifies, nations around the world are implementing policies aimed at reducing emissions, with carbon-trading mechanisms emerging as a key market-based tool. China has launched carbon-trading markets in several cities, achieving significant trading volumes. Carbon-trading mechanisms encompass cap-and-trade markets and voluntary markets, influenced by various factors, including policy changes, economic conditions, energy prices, and climate fluctuations. The complexity of these factors, coupled with the nonlinear and non-stationary nature of carbon prices, makes forecasting a substantial challenge. This paper proposes a dynamic weight hybrid forecasting model based on a dual sliding window approach, effectively integrating multiple forecasting models such as LSTM, Random Forests, and LASSO. This model facilitates a thorough analysis of the influences of policy, market dynamics, technological advancements, and climatic conditions on carbon pricing. It serves as a potent tool for predicting carbon market price fluctuations and offers valuable decision support to stakeholders in the carbon market, ultimately aiding in the global efforts towards emission reduction and achieving sustainable development goals.

We point out a new mechanism giving rise to anomalous tau neutrino appearance at the near detectors of beam-focused neutrino experiments, without extending the neutrino sector. The charged mesons (π±,K±) produced and focused in the target-horn system can decay to a (neutrino-philic) light mediator via the helicity-unsuppressed three-body decays. If such a mediator carries non-vanishing hadronic couplings, it can also be produced via the bremsstrahlung of the incident proton beam. The subsequent decay of the mediator to a tau neutrino pair results in tau neutrino detection at the near detectors, which is unexpected under the standard three-flavor neutrino oscillation paradigm. We argue that the signal flux from the charged meson decays can be significant enough to discover the light mediator signal at the on-axis liquid-argon near detector of the DUNE experiment, due to the focusing of charged mesons. In addition, we show that ICARUS-NuMI, an off-axis near detector of the NuMI beam, as well as DUNE, can observe a handful of tau neutrino events induced by beam-proton bremsstrahlung.

Background: Since 2019, Perampanel (PER) has been endorsed in China as an adjunctive treatment for focal seizures, both with and without impaired awareness, and for the transition from focal to bilateral tonic-clonic seizures. Limited research exists regarding the efficacy of PER in treating post-stroke epilepsy (PSE) in China. Empirical studies are essential to guide treatment protocols. We conducted a retrospective study to assess the efficacy and tolerability of PER in 58 PSE patients treated between October 2019 and July 2023. Method: This study encompassed 58 patients with PSE, treated with PER either as monotherapy or as part of adjunctive therapy, and underwent follow-up for a minimum duration of 6 months. The study assessed changes in seizure frequency, adverse events (AEs), drug retention rate, maintenance dose, and adverse reactions following PER treatment. Results: The study included 58 PSE patients, with 60.3% males and 39.7% females, ranging in age from 18 to 89, mostly within the 61–70 age group. Ischemic strokes constituted 58.6% of cases, while hemorrhagic strokes accounted for 41.4%. Focal seizures, either with or without impaired awareness, were noted in 62.1% of patients, and a transition from focal to bilateral tonic-clonic seizures was seen in 32.8%. The retention rates for PER at 3 and 6 months stood at 94.8% and 84.5% respectively, and the most commonly administered maintenance dose was 4 mg/day (41.28%). In the adjunctive therapy group, efficacy rates were 66.7% at 3 months and 78.6% at 6 months, compared to 80.0% at 3 months and 85.7% at 6 months in the monotherapy group. In the efficacy analysis, with a criterion of ≥50% reduction in seizure frequency, the overall efficacy rates at 3 and 6 months were 69.1% and 79.6%, respectively. Adverse reactions occurred in 46.6% of patients, primarily involving irritability and somnolence (both 27.6%), with no marked difference in incidence between the adjunctive and monotherapy groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: PER exhibits favorable efficacy and tolerability in Chinese PSE patients, possibly at lower doses.

Mulberry crinkle leaf virus (MCLV) is a member of the genus Mulcrilevirus, family Geminiviridae. The expression and functions of the V4 and V5 genes encoded by the MCLV genome remain unknown. Here, we confirmed the expression of V4 and V5 by analyzing the V4 and V5 mRNAs and the promoter activity of individual ORFs upstream sequences. The functions of V4 and V5 were investigated by constructing Agrobacterium-mediated infectious clones of wild-type MCLV variant П (MCLV vII), MCLVwt and MCLV vП mutants, such as MCLVmV4 (start codon of V4 ORF mutated), MCLVdV4 (5′-end partial deletion of V4 ORF sequence) and MCLVmV5 (V5 ORF start codon mutated). Although MCLVwt, MCLVmV4, and MCLVdV4 could infect natural host mulberry and experimental tomato plants systematically, the replication of the MCLVmV4 and MCLVdV4 genomes was obviously reduced compared to MCLVwt in both mulberry and tomato plants. MCLV vП expressing V5 could infect Nicotiana benthamiana plants systematically, but MCLVmV5 could not, implying that V5 is needed for MCLV vП to infect N. benthamiana plants. Taken together, V4 is involved in replication of the MCLV genome in host plants, and V5 potentially might extend the host range. Our findings lay a foundation for in-depth insight into the functions of MCLV-encoded proteins and provide a novel perspective for the subsequent study of MCLV-host plant interactions.

The architecture of apple trees plays a pivotal role in shaping their growth and fruit-bearing potential, forming the foundation for precision apple management. Traditionally, 2D imaging technologies were employed to delineate the architectural traits of apple trees, but their accuracy was hampered by occlusion and perspective ambiguities. This study aimed to surmount these constraints by devising a 3D geometry-based processing pipeline for apple tree structure segmentation and architectural trait characterization, utilizing point clouds collected by a terrestrial laser scanner (TLS). The pipeline consisted of four modules: (a) data preprocessing module, (b) tree instance segmentation module, (c) tree structure segmentation module, and (d) architectural trait extraction module. The developed pipeline was used to analyze 84 trees of two representative apple cultivars, characterizing architectural traits such as tree height, trunk diameter, branch count, branch diameter, and branch angle. Experimental results indicated that the established pipeline attained an R2 of 0.92 and 0.83, and a mean absolute error (MAE) of 6.1 cm and 4.71 mm for tree height and trunk diameter at the tree level, respectively. Additionally, at the branch level, it achieved an R2 of 0.77 and 0.69, and a MAE of 6.86 mm and 7.48° for branch diameter and angle, respectively. The accurate measurement of these architectural traits can enable precision management in high-density apple orchards and bolster phenotyping endeavors in breeding programs. Moreover, bottlenecks of 3D tree characterization in general were comprehensively analyzed to reveal future development.

Abstract The Kuroshio intrusion (KI) is a northwestward‐flowing branch of the Kuroshio Current, which enters the South China Sea (SCS) and regulates its temperature, salinity, and water mass exchanges. However, limited direct observations hinder our understanding of KI's mechanisms and responses to climate change. Here, we present a 60‐year bi‐monthly resolved coral oxygen isotope (δ18Oc) record from Dongsha Atoll, the northern SCS. The dry‐season (December–March) δ18Oc record reveals interannual to decadal variabilities of the KI. The impact of the East Asian winter monsoon (EAWM) on Dongsha δ18Oc was more pronounced during the 1970s and 1980s and after the early 2000s, while the influence of the El Niño‐Southern Oscillation (ENSO) on Dongsha δ18Oc was higher between the 1980s and 1990s. The Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) may have a relatively minor effect on KI strength or may indirectly modulate KI strength through its influence on ENSO activities. Our Dongsha δ18Oc record highlight the importance of the EAWM, ENSO, and PDO in predicting future KI changes.

Dissimilar metal welded joints are increasingly and widely applied in any field of manufacturing. Meanwhile, a novel keyhole gas tungsten arc (K-TIG) welding technology presents the advantages of high productivity, high precision as well as low cost. This paper investigated microstructural characterization of K-TIG welded SAF2205/Q235 dissimilar joints with different welding torch deviations. Moreover, evolution of local microstructure and stress–strain behavior from transition zone was discussed by means of crystal plasticity finite element modeling. The results show that solid–solid phase transformation mode in the weld metal changes due to the change of constituent alloy elements. Noted that transition zone on the Q235 side includes compact martensite with high hardness, and the elements and mechanical properties present a severe gradient distribution. Transition zone with high strength has a greater resistance to plastic deformation. In addition, a large strain gradient takes place near the transition zone and on the side of an austenite grain with a high Schmid factor. Besides, the twin boundary is prone to deform at a lower stress level, which leads to a new strain partition. Therefore, stress–strain incompatibility caused by a difference in both mechanical properties and crystal structure is the root cause of K-TIG DMWJs failure.

Abstract Textile defect recognition is a significant technique in the production processes of the textile industry. However, in the practical processes, it is hard to acquire large amounts of textile defect samples. Meanwhile, the textile samples with correct defect labels are rare. To address these two limitations, in this paper, we propose a novel semi-supervised graph convolutional network for few labeled textile defect recognition. First, we construct the graph convolutional network and convolution neural network to extract spectral features and spatial features. Second, the adaptive convolution structure is proposed to generate adaptive kernels according to their dynamically learned features. Finally, the spatial–spectral adaptive unified learning network (SSA-ULNet) is built for limited labeled defective samples, and graph-based semi-supervised learning is constructed. The textile defect recognition model can extract the textile image features through the image descriptors, enabling the whole network to be end-to-end trainable. To evaluate the proposed method, one public dataset and two unique self-built textile defect datasets are used to textile defect recognition. The evaluation results demonstrate that the proposed SSA-ULNet obviously outperforms existing state-of-the-art deep learning methods.

Abstract Objective To compare post-treatment recurrence between ranibizumab injection and laser photocoagulation (LP) for type 1 retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), and explore the associated risk factors. Methods The clinical data of ROP infants treated with LP or ranibizumab in a NICU of China from October 2007 to November 2021 were retrospectively analyzed and compared, such as general condition, degree of ROP, therapeutic effectiveness and post-treatment recurrence. The dependent variable was recurrence after ROP treatment. Univariate and regression analysis of risk factors was performed. Results Of the 298 ROP infants (556 eyes), 58% of the eyes were treated with LP and the other 42% with ranibizumab. There was no significant difference in gestational age at birth, birth weight, sex, delivery mode, prenatal corticosteroids, ROP diagnosed before admission or after admission, and the duration of oxygen therapy between the two groups. However, the ratio of type 1 ROP and aggressive retinopathy of prematurity (A-ROP) in ranibizumab group was higher than that in LP group. The number of treatments, recurrence rate and recurrence interval in ranibizumab group were higher than those in LP group. However, there was no difference in the recurrence rate between the two groups after stratified analysis by the lesion area and the presence or absence of A-ROP. There was no significant difference in the final lesion regression between the two groups. Regression analysis showed that plus disease and ROP located in zone I were independent risk factors for post-treatment recurrence. Conclusion There is no significant difference in the recurrence rate of ROP between ranibizumab injection and LP, and recurrence is mainly related to the severity of ROP. In half of our patients treated with A-ROP recurrences occur.
