Abstract

Hilbert-Huang Transform (HHT) is a kind of signal analysis method suitable for nonstationary signal, whose core algorithm is empirical mode decomposition (EMD). To improve the results and decomposition speed of EMD, this paper proposes a new method of obtaining mean curve for empirical mode decomposition(EMD), in which mean curve is obtained based on piecewise high order spline fitting. The method obtains more accurate mean points by using piecewise high order spline curve, but overcomes the disadvantage of too much computation in high order spline fitting. The mean curve is achieved by directly fitting mean points sequence, and the effect of overshoot and undershoot is reduced on the premise of guaranteeing the smoothness of the mean curve. The improved algorithm is used in processing acoustic vector signal, and data obtained from a certain sea experiment in Dalian is analyzed by improved HHT. The waterfall plot accurately shows the azimuth of target ship, which validates of the algorithm.

224. Preparation, crystal structure, luminescence and Hirshfeld surface of hydroxynaphthene-based compounds.

Abstract

• Butyl 1‑hydroxy-2-naphthoate have been obtained. • The crystal structures were characterized by single crystal X–ray diffraction. • The melting point and the emission peaks can be modulated by the substitute. • The luminescent maxima are relative to the close contacts of C···C. To explore the new luminescent materials, two compounds based on hydroxynaphthene group have been prepared. Compound 2 was synthesized through the esterification of compound 1 in the acid conditions. They have been characterized by IR, EA and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Single X-ray diffraction reveals that compounds 1 and 2 belong to the P 2 1 / n and P 2 1 / c , respectively. It is obviously observed that there exist C/O H⋯O and the packing interactions among the aromatic rings. The solid-state fluorescent spectra reveal that the maxima of compounds 1 and 2 are 448 and 415 nm, respectively. The luminescent emission maxima are in accordance with the stacking interactions of compounds. The melting points of both compounds can be found to be 190–192 °C and 78–80 °C, respectively. The Hirshfeld surface analysis further reveals that the close contacts C⋯C are responsible for the luminescent peaks, and the O⋯H/H⋯O close bonds can account for the melting points of both compounds. Two compounds based on hydroxynaphthene group have been prepared, which have been characterized by IR, EA and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The fluorescence maxima of compounds 1 and 2 are 448 and 415 nm, respectively. The melting point of both compounds 190–191 °C and 78–80 °C, respectively. Abstract

Ming dynasty bar-tile from the archaeological site of Heijing (Lufeng of Yunnan Province, China) was analyzed by Raman microscopy, X-ray diffraction and electron probe microscopy (EPMA). It was found that the major components of the tile are SiO2, besides moonstone(KAlSi3O8 var. of K-orthoclase), Na-orthoclase(NaAlSi3 O8 )and an unknown mineral (Al, Fe)3(PO4,VO4)2(OH)3.8H2O etc. The studies revealed that the agglomerant temperature of the bar-tile reached up to 1500 degrees C, indicating that the agglomerant technology of ceramics of Yunnan in the Ming dynasty (before 17 century) already attained a high level. Raman microscopyproves especially excellent in studing antiques. The results show that the facility and reliability of Raman spectroscopy, as anon-destructive unique technique, are suitable for the discrimination between moonstone and K-orthoclase within tile. No other technique tried was successful in its identification. This research demonstrates that only by combining several complementary techniques is possible to conduct comprehensive research on antiques.

226. Synthesis, crystal structures and biological evaluation of three ternary copper(II) complexes with fluorinated anthranilic acid derivatives.

Abstract

Three ternary copper(II) complexes [Cu(L)(phen)] ( 1), [Cu(L)(phen)] ( 2), and [Cu(L)(phen)] ·2HO ( 3) (L = 4-fluoro-2-(picolinamido)benzoic acid, L = 4,5-difluoro-2-(picolinamido)benzoic acid, L = 4,5-difluoro-2-((2-hydroxybenzylidene)amino)benzoic acid, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) have been synthesized and characterized by physicochemical and spectroscopic methods. In addition, X-ray crystallography showed that the Cu atoms in each of the complexes are five-coordinate, adopting distorted square pyramidal or trigonal bipyramidal geometries. The interactions of the complexes with calf-thymus DNA were investigated by UV absorption, fluorescence spectroscopy and viscosity measurements. In addition, the complexes were screened for in vitro cytotoxicity against A549 (human pulmonary carcinoma cells), Jurkat (human T lymphocyte cell line) and HepG-2 (human liver hepatocellular carcinoma cells); these experiments showed that complex 3 exhibited the most effective cytotoxicities (IC = 1.224-7.099 µM). Antibacterial studies revealed that complex 3 also exhibited highest activity, consistent with the DNA binding affinities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

241. Evaluating the Feasibility of Use of a Foreign Reference Product for Generic Drug Applications: A Retrospective Pilot Study

Abstract

The adoption of a domestic reference product in bioequivalence (BE) studies for generic drug applications is required by some countries. The objective of this study is to assess the feasibility of this by investigating whether innovative products from different countries are bioequivalent. Data were collected from all generic drug applications received by the Taiwan regulatory authority 2012–2016. If a submission package contained BE studies, that generic product was compared separately with different reference products, and the resulting data included in this analysis. A method of adjusted indirect comparison was used to evaluate the BE of reference products from different sources. The relationship between in vitro dissolution and in vivo BE was also explored. The present study included 10 drugs and a total of 11 comparisons. Seven comparisons for maximum concentration (Cmax) (63.6%) and all comparisons (100.0%) for area under the curve up to last measurable time point (AUC) complied with the BE criterion. Similar in vitro dissolution profiles were observed in all comparisons. Among the comparisons that failed to demonstrate BE, only one was considered to be possibly related to product difference, with point estimates of indirect comparison for Cmaxsignificantly greater than unity (22%). Discordance between in vitro and in vivo observations was probably due to either drugs with highly variable properties or a lack of discriminatory dissolution testing method. Although this retrospective analysis only included a few drugs and product formulation types, i.e., immediate release, delayed release, and orally disintegrating tablet, these preliminary results suggest that using a foreign reference product in BE studies for generic drug applications could be a feasible approach, but with some restrictions: comparable dissolution profiles, same innovator company, same size, weight, and type of coating as the domestic reference product, etc. Further investigations for other complex formulations are required.
