To study the liver histopathological features of chronic HBV carriers and inactive HBsAg carriers.Liver biopsies were performed on 189 chronic HBV carriers and 30 inactive HBsAg carriers (219 cases in total). All of them had a normal serum ALT value; they were then followed-up for more than 6 months. HBsAg and HBcAg were detected by immunohistochemistry. The circulating HBV DNA loads and serologic markers of HBV were examined at the same time. Grades of liver necrosis/inflammation and fibrosis were compared between the patients regarding their HBV DNA positivity or negativity. The relationships between the HBeAg positivity and degrees of liver histological changes were evaluated. The grades of liver necrosis/inflammation and fibrosis were compared between three age groups: younger than 18 years, 18-40, and older than 40 years.Two hundred eight carriers of the total 219 (95.0%) had histological liver changes. Fifty percent (104/208) of them had mild histological changes (G0-1/S0-1), while more severe changes (G3-4 and/or S3-4) were found in 18 out of the 208. There were no significant differences in the grades of liver necrosis/inflammation and fibrosis between the chronic HBV carriers and the inactive HBsAg carriers. Among the serologic HBV DNA positive carriers, hepatic fibrosis was more severe in the HBeAg negative group than in the positive group (chi2 = 9.551, P = 0.008), but no differences of the necrosis/inflammation grades were seen between the two groups. The rate of severe fibrosis (S3-4) was 21.1% in those carriers older than 40 years but was 7.7% in patients younger than 18 years. However, no statistically significant differences in degrees of liver inflammation and fibrosis were found among the three age groups. HBcAg positive rate was 100% in the liver tissues of all the chronic HBV carriers, but only in 33.3% in the inactive HBsAg carriers.The majority of our HBV carriers have liver inflammation and fibrosis. More severe histological changes were found in 8.65% of them. Liver fibrosis existed in the carriers with negative HBeAg and in those older than 40 years. HBcAg was found in hepatic tissues while their serological HBV DNA was negative.

To observe clinical therapeutic effect of substance-partitioned moxibustion on primary dysmenorrhea (PD). Methods One hundred and thirty-eight cases of PD were randomly divided into two groups, the treatment group (n=78) were treated with substance-partitioned moxibustion at Guanyuan (CV 4) and Shenque (CV 8), once a day; and the control group (n=60) treated with oral administration of Yueyueshu Powder, twice a day, 10 g each time. They were treated for 3 menstrual cycles.The total effective rate and the index of therapeutic effect were 96.1% and 90.8% in the treatment group, and 88.3% and 76.2% in the control group, respectively, with a significant difference between the two groups (P0.05).Clinical therapeutic effect of substance-partitioned moxibustion on primary dysmenorrhea is obvious.

To study apoptosis of pulmonary epithelial cells and endothelial cells in mice with pulmonary edema induced by phosgene exposure.Thirty-two mice were divided into normal group and phosgene group with 16 mice in each group. The mice in phosgene group were exposed to phosgene (11.9 mg/L) for 5 min and those in the control group to air. Four hours after exposure, alveolar type II cells were isolated and cultured to observe their apoptosis by electron microscope and flow cytometry. The lung tissues were also taken for DNA gel electrophoresis and TUNEL assay.Apoptotic bodies were observed in alveolar type II cells under electron microscope in phosgene group, which had higher cell apoptosis rate than the control group [(40.26+/-7.74)% vs (1.58+/-1.01)%, P0.001] as determined by flow cytometry. Ladder-like DNA fragmentation pattern was observed in DNA gel electrophoresis in phosgene group with apoptosis of the pulmonary epithelial and endothelial cells observed by TUNEL.Phosgene can induce pulmonary epithelial and endothelial cell apoptosis in mice, suggesting that the mechanism of phosgene-induced pulmonary edema involves apoptosis of the lung cells.

The development e-commerce provides the companies more opportunities to conduct business. The companies have the requests of collaborative commerce (c-commerce) with their partners than ever. Traditional technologies and methods have the limitations to provide efficient operation. CORBA and EJB can be combined via IDL, ORB and RM/IIOP protocol, which gives us a new way to establish high performance information systems. By this means, we can transform the traditional models into CORBA/EJB based models. The paper illustrates the integration method of the two technologies and puts forward a new collaborative model with better security, portability, flexibility and performance of inter-platform and inter-operation systems. The interaction process of the client-side objects and server-side objects is also given. Based on the model, the company and its partners or customers can implement the collaborations easily. Finally, an example based on the model is developed, which demonstrates the suggested model

Based on infrared and visible time series satellite images, this paper studies the unique rules of the developing typhoon, and constructs the dynamic rotation feature and the rotation feature's durative feature grounded on the cloud motion wind. Meanwhile, an effective algorithm has been proposed to extract the rotation feature. Experimental results show that the rotation feature with favorable running qualities could effectively recognize the developing typhoon.

With the development of Internet, more and more companies begin to conduct business online. Some of them succeeded, but the other failed. It brings us many considerable questions. Among them, the fit e-Commerce model is the key to success. So the identification methods of e-Commerce models have become into an issue in the e-Commerce research field. Manufacturing industry has the most complicated business process. Its e-Commerce models must reflect the strategy of a company. In the mean time, it must be fit for the needs of business process in Internet era. The traditional classification methods are not suitable for inter-firms manufacturing processes. By analyzing the core business processes of manufacturing enterprises, the paper suggests a new identification framework of e-Commerce models based on the core-company view and the whole value net perspective. This method deducts 9 e-Commerce models. Each model has different strategic intends and core competences, which are also discussed in the paper.

To study the apoptosis of alveolar type II cells, alterations of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), VEGF receptor (Flt1) in serum and lung and expression of VEGF mRNA in lung in pulmonary edema mice induced by phosgene.Twenty-six BALB/C mice were randomly divided into 2 groups: control group, exposed group (13 mice in each group). Mice of exposed group were intoxicated by inhalation of phosgene 11.9 mg/L for 5 minutes. Mice of control group were treated as the same way by inhalation of air. Isolation of mice alveolus type II cells 4 h after intoxication was carried out to observe their apoptosis under electron microscope. Contents of VEGF and Flt1 in lung and serum by ELISA, and expression of VEGF mRNA were determined.Alveolar type II cells were identified by tannic acid staining and electron microscopy. After exposed to 11.9 mg/L of phosgene for 5 minutes, the apoptotic body in alveolus type II cells was found in exposed group. The contents of VEGF in serum and lung and Flt1 in lung of exposed mice [(134.07 +/- 120.26), (477.76 +/- 98.06), (1,2818.48 +/- 2,304.15) pg/ml] were significantly lower than those of control group [(445.57 +/- 173.30), (1,026.87 +/- 474.56), (21,976.51 +/- 7,421.01) pg/ml, P0.05] but the content of Flt1 in serum [(2,369.56 +/- 381.70) pg/ml] was higher than that in control group [(1,898.00 +/- 453.69) pg/ml, P0.05]. The expression of VEGF mRNA in pulmonary edema mice was decreased.Phosgene can induce apoptosis of alveolar type II cells, and decrease in the content of VEGF and Flt1, and expression of VEGF mRNA in lung.

To observe the significance of ricin (RT) with chemical nidification to reduce the hepatotoxicity in mice and its anticancer effect.Mice were exposed to RT and RT-PDP [ricin chemically modified by N-succinimidyl 3-(2-pyridyldithio)-propionate, (SPDP)] respectively, and their serum activity of glutathione-S-transferase (GST) and liver glutathione (GSH) content were determined. The ultramicro-structure under electron microscope was also observed.The GST activity increased with doses, and the increase in ricin group was higher than that in RT-PDP group; the activities of GST in RT group at 12.5, 15.0 micro g/kg [(93.65 +/- 12.30), (153.71 +/- 26.64) IU/L respectively] were higher than those in RT-PDP group [(62.97 +/- 11.22), (78.20 +/- 15.71) IU/L] (P0.05). The contents of GSH were decreased with doses; but the contents of GSH in RT-PDP group at 2.5, 5.0, 7.5, 10.0, 15.0 micro g/kg [(6.34 +/- 1.43), (4.14 +/- 1.82), (3.54 +/- 0.64), (2.73 +/- 1.82), (1.82 +/- 0.62) micro mol/L respectively] were still higher than those in RT group [(3.53 +/- 0.95), (2.12 +/- 0.54), (1.82 +/- 0.71), (1.52 +/- 0.34), (0.81 +/- 0.36) micro mol/L] (P0.01). Electron microscopic examination showed that the injury of liver cells in RT group was more severe than that in RT-PDP group.The hepatotoxicity of ricin in mice may be reduced by chemical modification.

To study the relationship of the long-term incidence rate of benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) after vasectomy to age and time after operation.Questionnaire survey, physical examination, and ultrasonography were conducted among 850 healthy males, aged 55 - 76 who underwent vasectomy more than 20 years before and 390 healthy males, aged 53 - 75, who had not undergone vasectomy in Yichang, Hubei province, selected by randomized cluster sampling. The data such as international prostate symptom scoring (IPSS), quality of life (QOL) index, maximum urine flow rate (MFR), and average flow rate (AFR), digital rectal examination (DRE), volume of prostate gland (V), and residual urine (R) were analyzed.The general BPH incidence rate of the vasectomy group was 10.8%, significantly lower than that of the control group (40.8%, P0.01). The age-specific BPH incidence rates in the vasetomy group were all significantly lower than those of the control group, especially that of the subjects aged over 70 (10.8% vs. 56.5%, P0.001). The BPH incidence rate of those who had undergone vasectomy 25 years or over before was 7.8%, significantly lower than that of those who had undergone vasectomy 20 years before (13.2%, P0.05), but not significantly difference from that of those who had undergone vasectomy 30 years or over before (5.5%, P0.05). The volumes of prostate gland in all age subgroups were significantly smaller in the vasectomy group than in the control group.Vasectomy reduces the incidence rate of BPH significantly.

To investigate the possibility and efficacy of vasoligation and deferent vein ligation in treating and preventing benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH).40 male pooches were divided into A, B, C and D groups randomly. Each group has 10 pooches group A and B were made into the model of BPH. Two years later, the pooches in group A and C accepted the operation of vasoligation and deferent vein ligation on both sides. Group B and D only accepted the operation of dissection and relieving its deferent duct. Then continuing to feed the 40 pooches after the operation, they were killed another two years later. After taking out their prostates and calculating their volume and weight, the sections of the prostates were checked by microscope to observe their histology and pathology changes.There were significant differences of weight and volume as well as the changes of histology and pathology between group A and group C (P0.01). It was the same with group B and D (hyperplasia changes).Vasoligation and deferent vein ligation before benign prostatic hyperplasia at pooches grow-up stage can reduce the extent of BPH at old age, and treatment after benign prostatic hyperplasia can make prostatic tissue appear different degrees of atrophy.

A Sweet potato-infecting sweet potato leaf curl virus (SPLCV) isolated in China was detected by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). PCR products amplified from DNA-A were cloned and sequenced. The isolates of SPLCV from China(SPLCV-CN)has a genome organization similar to that of monopartite begomoviruses. The DNA-A had two ORFs (AV1 and AV2) in the virion sense and four ORFs (AC1, AC2, AC3, and AC4) in the complementary sense, separated by an intergenic region (IR) containing a conserved stem-loop motif. Three incomplete direct repeat iterons were also found within the IR. The presence of AV2 ORF supports the relationship of SPLCV-CN to the Old World gemimiviruses. Sequence comparisons showed that the DNA-A sequence of SPLCV-CN were closely related to those of sweet potato leaf curl Georgia virus-[16] (SPLCGV-[16]), Ipomoea yellow vein virus (IYVV-SI), and sweet potato leaf curl virus (SPLCV) with nucleotide sequence identity ranging from 88% to 91%. Comparison of individual encoded proteins between SPLCV-CN and that of three other SPLCV isolates showed the coat protein (AV1) shared the highest amino acid sequence identity (93%–96%), suggesting the coat protein of these viruses may have identical ancestor. The relationships between SPLCV-CN and other whitefly-transmitted geminiviruses were investigated by using phylogeny of derived AV1, AC1, and AV2 amino acid sequences. In all phylogenetic trees, SPLCV-CN clustered with three other isolates of SPLCV. The analyses revealed that the four isolates of SPLCV have coat proteins which are unique from its counterparts from both the Old World and New World. The present of AV2 and phylogenic analysis of AC1 suggest that SPLCV is more close to begomoviruses from the Old World but isolates of this virus seems to form a separate subset.
