Mg/Al laminated composite was prepared by hot rolling with the self-developed cross-corrugated roll. The tensile strength in TD and RD were tested, and the effects of annealing time on microstructure and mechanical properties were studied. The results indicate that inter-metallic compounds (IMCs) are generated at bonding interface under the condition that the total reduction ratio is 37.5%, annealing temperature is 250 ℃, while the annealing time is 2 h and 4 h, respectively. There is Mg2Al3 phase near 5052 and Mg17Al12 phase near AZ31B, and the thickness of IMC layer increases with the increase of annealing time. After annealing, the TD tensile strength of laminated composite decreases from 309.33 to 276.06 MPa, the RD tensile strength decreases from 302.09 to 274.21 MPa, but the elongation in TD direction increases from 5.25% to 23.24%, and the elongation in RD direction increases from 3.05% to 22.74%. With the increase of annealing time, the elongation becomes stable. This study provides an experimental and technical reference for the preparation of Mg/Al laminated composite with high performance.

Accurate and rapid release of earthquake quick report information is a standard to measure the information service level and ability of earthquake industry, and also reflects the social service ability of earthquake system. In this paper, the development technology of earthquake quick report information software products and earthquake auxiliary products based on JOPENS system and EQIM system developed by Provincial Earthquake Agency are introduced, for the developers to achieve rapid release of earthquake reports and related information, select the system data for their own needs to provide a reference for the second development.

Abstract Synergies of transcription factors, chromatin modifiers and their target genes are vital for cell fate determination in human cancer. Although the importance of numerous epigenetic machinery for regulating gliomagenesis has been previously recognized, how chromatin modifiers collaborate with specific transcription factors remains largely elusive. Herein we report that Pontin chromatin remodelling factor acts as a coactivator for LEF1 to activate TGFβ/SMAD signalling, thereby contributing to gliomagenesis. Pontin is highly expressed in gliomas, and its overexpression paralleled the grade elevation and poor prognosis of patients. Functional studies verified its oncogenic roles in GBM cells by facilitating cell proliferation, survival and invasion both in vitro and in vivo. RNA sequencing results revealed that Pontin regulated multiple target genes involved in TGFβ/SMAD signalling. Intriguingly, we found that Pontin amplified TGFβR2 gene transcription by recruiting LEF1, thereby activating TGFβ/SMAD signalling and facilitating gliomagenesis. Furthermore, higher TGFβR2 expression conferred worse patient outcomes in glioma. To conclude, our study revealed that the Pontin-LEF1 module plays a crucial role in driving TGFβR2 gene transcription, which could be exploited to target TGFβ/SMAD signalling for anti-glioma therapy.

IntroductionThis study aimed to provide the theoretical basis for formulating scientific and reasonable on-farm nitrogen (N) management measures and efficient strategic fertilization to understand the effects of localized N supply (LNS) and N fertilizer variety coupling on N transport and soil N balance in rice fields.MethodsA 2-year field experiment (2020 and 2021) was conducted in Jingzhou, Hubei Province, which included the following six treatments: no N application (CK), farmers' fertilizer practice (FFP), and four LNS treatments, including two N application methods including mechanical side-deep fertilization (M) and root-zone fertilization (R), two N fertilizer types with urea (U), and controlled-release urea (CRU).ResultsCompared with FFP, LNS increased the N apparent translocation level from stems, sheathes, and leaves (TNT) and N uptake by 10.70–50.59% and 11.28–29.71%, respectively. In LNS, the levels of nitrite reductase (NR), glutamine synthetase (GS), and glutamate synthase (GOGAT) under R increased by 13.81, 9.56, and 15.59%, respectively, compared with those under M, resulting in a significant increase in TNT by 8.58% and N uptake by 1.87%. Regarding the N fertilizer type, CRU significantly increased chlorophyll content by 7.27%, superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) by 14.78 and 29.95% (p < 0.05), and NR, GS, and GOGAT by 44.41, 16.12, and 28.41% (p < 0.05), respectively, compared with that in U, which contributed to N absorption and transport. Moreover, CRUR significantly decreased N apparent loss by 50.04% compared with CRUM (p < 0.05).DiscussionConsidering the risk of soil N leaching and environmental protection, R should be selected as the recommended fertilization method. The combination of CRU and R is the most effective fertilization approach.

Rhizobium-driven symbiotic nitrogen-fixation in legumes not only benefits the growth but also enhances the stress tolerance of plants. Isolating and characterizing efficient, drought-tolerant rhizobia is a central goal for improving crop yields in arid regions. Here, we phylogenetically and biochemically characterized a novel strain of Rhizobium (‘QHCD11’) sampled from the root nodules of faba beans growing in an arid agricultural area in Qinghai-Tibet. We further tested the drought tolerance of the strain as well as of ‘Qingcan 14’ faba bean seedlings inoculated with it. Biochemical characterization involved bromothymol blue (BTB) tests, carbon metabolic profiling (Biolog GENIII), DNA–DNA hybridization (dDDH) assays, average nucleotide identity (ANI) analyses, and 16S rRNA sequencing. The result indicated that strain ‘QHCD11’ likely belongs to the Rhizobium indicum species. Drought stress tolerance was assessed by exposure to polyethylene glycol (PEG-6000) at concentrations of 0, 10, 15, and 20%. Increasing concentrations of PEG-6000 tended to result in decreased growth of ‘QHCD11’, although the strain performed better at 20% PEG 6000 than at 15%. Inoculation of drought-stressed faba bean seedlings with strain ‘QHCD11’ improved root vitality, chlorophyll content, antioxidant enzyme activities, and plant height. We suggest that inoculation of faba beans with ‘QHCD11’ is an environmentally sound strategy for mitigating crop drought stress in arid and semi-arid regions. In addition, the results presents here will benefit future studies into faba bean-rhizobia symbioses under drought stress.

AimsThe latest guidelines recommended to assess the trajectory of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) in patients with heart failure (HF). However, there is limited data on the trajectory of LVEF in real-world settings. In this study, we investigated the frequency and prognostic implications of changes in LVEF trajectory.MethodsPatients were divided into intensified LVEF, static LVEF, and worsening LVEF groups based on the transitions of HF types from baseline to follow-up. The intensified and worsening LVEF groups were further subdivided into mild (≤10% absolute changes of LVEF) and significant (>10% absolute changes of LVEF) increase or decrease groups according to the magnitude of change. The incidences and associations of changes in LVEF with patient outcomes were analyzed.ResultsAmong the 2,429 patients in the study cohort, 38.3% of HF with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and 37.6% of HF with mildly reduced ejection fraction (HFmrEF) showed an improvement in their LVEF. In contrast, a decline in LVEF was observed in 19.3% of HF patients with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and 34.9% of those with HFmrEF. Cox regression analysis showed that the intensified LVEF group was associated with a lower risk of composite endpoints, while the worsening LVEF group yielded opposite findings. Subgroup analysis revealed that compared to those with mild changes in LVEF, baseline HFrEF patients with significant increase showed a lower risk of composite outcome, while baseline HFpEF patients were the opposite.ConclusionsThe trajectories of LVEF changes are strongly correlated with outcomes in patients with HF who had prior history of HF admission. The most significant prognostic implications observed in patients with significant LVEF changes. Trajectory LVEF and type of HF changes are useful tools recommended for prognostication.

Abstract Photo‐assisted Li–O2 batteries are introduced as a promising strategy for reducing severe overpotential by directly employing photocathodes. Herein, a series of size‐controlled single‐element boron photocatalysts are prepared by the meticulous liquid phase thinning methods by combining probe and water bath sonication, and their bifunctional photocathodes in the photo‐assisted Li–O2 batteries are systematically investigated. The boron‐based Li–O2 batteries have shown incremental round‐trip efficiencies as the sized reduction of boron under illumination. It is noteworthy that the completely amorphous boron nanosheets (B4) photocathode not only delivers an optimizing round‐trip efficiency of 190% on the basis of the ultra‐high discharge voltage (3.55 V) and ultra‐low charge voltage (1.87 V) but also gives a high rate performance and ultralong durability with a round‐trip efficiency of 133% after 100 cycles (200 h) compared with the other‐sized boron photocathodes. This remarkable photoelectric performance of the B4 sample can be attracted to the synergistic effect on the suitable semiconductor property, high conductivity, and strengthened catalytic ability of boron nanosheets coated with ultrathin amorphous boron‐oxides overlayer. This research can open a new avenue to facilitate the rapid development of high‐efficiency photo‐assisted Li–O2 batteries.

Cotton straw fibers have an important influence on the performance of asphalt mixtures. However, the modification of cotton straw fibers and the performance characterization between the treated cotton straw fibers and asphalt are still lack of understanding. To obtain a better performance improvement technical scheme of cotton straw fibrous asphalt mortar. In this study, sodium hydroxide, silane coupling agent (KH550), and glacial acetic acid (CH3COOH) were used to modify the surface of cotton straw fibers. The modification mechanism and basic properties of the cotton straw fibers were investigated. The effect of the modified fibers on the performance of asphalt mortar was studied using cone penetration, softening point, ductility, and dynamic shear rheology tests. The results showed that the CH3COOH- and KH550-modified fibers produce new acetyl C-O and Si-O deformation vibration absorption peaks, respectively. The three modification methods destroy the hemicellulose structure in the cotton straw fibers. The post-modification surface impurities, roughness, and basic properties of the fibers are reduced, increased, and improved, respectively. An increasing cotton straw fiber dosage continuously improves the high temperature performance of asphalt mortar, but reduces ductility. A fiber dosage of 2 % yields optimized the high temperature performance and the ductility. Under this dosage, the CH3COOH-modified cotton straw fibrous asphalt mortar exhibits a better comprehensive performance. Its shear strength and softening point, as compared to the matrix asphalt increase by 3.21 times and 14.99 %, respectively, and the ductility reduces by 23.94 %, all the measured properties meet the technical specifications of road petroleum asphalt. The results provide more bases for the application of cotton straw fibers in road engineering.

The accurate analysis of landscape pattern and ecological process characteristics in rapidly urbanized areas is crucial for formulating policies related to differentiated urban development and landscape management measures. However, there are no convincing set of overall indices suitable and the optimal scale in karst mountainous regions. This study determined optimal landscape indices and scales and analysed the temporal and spatial variation characteristics of landscape patterns in the karst mountainous city of central Guizhou Province by taking Guiyang City as a case study area using Principal component analysis and inflection point analysis. The results show that: (1) the nine landscape indices (i.e., edge density (ED), mean radius of gyration (GYRATE_MN), mean contiguity index (CONTIG_MN), mean shape index (SHAPE_MN), contagion index (CONTAG), interspersion and juxtaposition index (IJI), Shannon's diversity index (SHDI), proportion of urban area (UI), Gibbs-Martin diversity index(GM)) were optimal indices of landscape pattern analysis in karst mountainous cities, with optimal landscape grain and extent of 90 m and 1000 m, respectively; (2) from 1995 to 2019, the landscape pattern in karst mountainous region has changed dramatically under the impact of rapid urbanization, and urbanization and ecologization were main trends of landscape pattern changes; and (3) the landscape fragmentation was intensified with the regularity tendency of patch shape, which is still facing severe challenges to the protection of regional ecological environment. This study makes important contributions to exploring the response between landscape pattern changes and ecological processes and promoting ecological sustainable development in karst mountain cities.

Furthermore, the study proposes effective guidance strategies to address and mitigate the impact of these harmful practices. Recommendations include parent education programs, counseling services, and fostering open communication within the family. By understanding the manifestations, causes, and implementing appropriate guidance strategies, families can create a nurturing and supportive environment conducive to positive child development.

This paper delves into the application and practice of personalized education based on big data analysis in the teaching of Java object-oriented programming. By constructing a big data analysis model, we have achieved precise collection and processing of student learning data, thereby tailoring personalized learning paths and resource recommendations for each student. The aim of this paper is to analyze the implementation effects of this innovative educational model in the teaching of Java object-oriented programming, with the hope of providing valuable insights for improving teaching quality and student learning outcomes. Furthermore, we also explore the advantages of applying Java object-oriented programming in personalized education. The object-oriented nature of Java makes program design more aligned with human thinking patterns, aiding in the development of students' logical thinking and innovative capabilities. Additionally, the widespread use of the Java language also offers expansive opportunities for students' future career development.

Nanoparticles of zinc oxide (ZnO NPs) are extensively used in various applications, and their widespread use leads to their environmental presence, particularly in wastewater treatment plant effluents, rivers, and soil. This study focuses on the obscure puffer, Takifugu obscurus, an economically important fish in China, aiming to assess the toxic effects of ZnO NPs on its early life stages, emphasizing the need for understanding the ecological implications of ZnO NP exposure in aquatic environments. Exposure during the hatching stage resulted in a significant decrease in hatching rates, with embryos displaying surface coating at higher ZnO NP concentrations. Newly hatched larvae experienced deformities, and post-hatching exposure led to pronounced reductions in survival rates, particularly with higher ZnO NP concentrations. Two-month-old juveniles exposed to increasing ZnO NP concentrations exhibited a consistent decline in survival rates, emphasizing concentration-dependent adverse effects. Biochemical analyses revealed elevated malondialdehyde (MDA) levels and decreased glutathione (GSH), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and catalase (CAT) activities in various tissues, indicating oxidative stress. This study underscores the ecological risks of ZnO NP contamination in aquatic environments, emphasizing the need for careful consideration of nanoparticle exposure in aquatic ecosystems.

Abstract Pulmonary mucoepidermoid carcinoma (PMEC) is uncommon. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinicopathological features, diagnostic criteria, treatment options, and prognostic factors relating to primary PMEC. Clinical data on 45 patients with primary PMEC were collected and analyzed retrospectively at Tianjin Medical University General Hospital and the First People’ Hospital of Longquanyi District Chengdu from January 2008 to December 2020. The 45 patients (25 males and 20 females) ranged in age from 22 to 72 years, with a median age of 49 and an average age of 47.7. All the patients underwent surgery, with 32 receiving only surgery and 13 receiving both surgery and postoperative chemotherapy. A total of 34 instances of low‐grade tumors and 11 cases of high‐grade tumors were discovered during postoperative pathological diagnosis. Forty‐five patients were followed for 13 to 78 months, and four died during this period. In all four instances, a lung infection unrelated to the tumor was determined to be the cause of death. The MAML2 gene translocation was detected in 40 of 45 patients, with 34 of them testing positive. Radical surgery with lymph node dissection is an efficient treatment for PMEC. The prognosis is poor for patients with advanced disease, a negative MAML2 gene translocation, lymph node metastases, and high‐grade tumors.

Abstract Burkholderia pseudomallei is a Gram-negative intracellular bacterium that causes melioidosis, a life-threatening disease. The interaction of B. pseudomallei with its host is complicated, and cellular response to B. pseudomallei infection is still largely unknown. In this study, we aimed to determine host-cell responses to B. pseudomallei at the proteomics level. We performed proteomic profiling of B. pseudomallei HNBP001-infected mouse macrophage RAW264.7 cells to characterize the cellular response dynamics during infection. Western blot analysis was utilized for the validation of changes in protein expression. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analyses were conducted using the clusterProfiler R package. Compared with the negative control (NC) group, 811 common proteins varied over time, with a cut-off level of two fold change and an adjusted P-value less than 0.05. The bioinformatics analysis revealed that the proteins significantly changed in the B. pseudomallei HNBP001 infection group (Bp group) were enriched in glycometabolism pathways, including glycolysis, fructose and mannose metabolism, pentose phosphate pathway, galactose metabolism, and carbon metabolism. Western blot analysis verified three selected proteins involved in glycometabolism pathways, namely PGM1, PKM, and PGK1 were increase over time post the infection. Furthermore, in vitro functional analysis revealed an increased glucose uptake and decreased ATP production and O-GlcNAcylation in the Bp group compared with control group, suggesting that B. pseudomallei HNBP001 infection induces changes in glycometabolism in RAW264.7 cells. These results indicate that glycometabolism pathways change in RAW264.7 cells post B. pseudomallei HNBP001 infection, providing important insights into the intimate interaction between B. pseudomallei and macrophages.

Abstract Doxorubicin (DOX) is an effective chemotherapy drug, but its clinical use has adverse effects on male reproduction. However, there are few studies about the specific biological processes related to male reproduction or strategies for improving fertility protection. In this paper, we examined the effects of DOX on spermatogenesis and sperm function, and tested the possible protective role of melatonin (MLT) against DOX’s reproductive toxicity. DOX-treated mice showed signs of significantly impaired spermatogenesis, including vacuolated epithelial cells, decreased testis weights, and lowered sperm counts and motility. DOX also reduced germ cell proliferation (PCNA) and meiosis-related proteins (SYCP3), but this effect could be partially improved with MLT administration. HSPA2 expression was maintained, which indicated that although MLT did not improve sperm motility, it did have a significant protective effect on elongated sperm. IVF results showed that MLT could partially promote two-cell and blastocyte development that was restricted by DOX. MLT reversed DOX-driven changes in the testes, including the antioxidant indices of SOD1, CAT and PRDX6, and the apoptotic indices of BAX and Caspase3. These results suggest that MLT effectively prevents DOX-induced early reproductive toxicity, and increase our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying DOX’s effects on male reproduction and the protective mechanism of MLT.

Abstract As the country implements the reform of the electricity market and a large number of renewable energy resources (RES) are connected to the grid, the model and algorithm of traditional transmission network expansion planning (TNEP) are not suitable. A model of TNEP is built, in which the investment cost of new lines and the market‐based annual congestion surplus are selected as objective functions. A probabilistic DC power flow method is used to describe uncertainties of RES generation. A new algorithm, Hybrid‐Adaptive Differential Evolution with Decay Function (HyDE‐DF), is applied to solve the model of TNEP for the first time. Analysis and comparison in the IEEE 18‐bus system and the 52‐bus system in an area of Sichuan Province prove the feasibility, effectivity, and practicability of the model and solving algorithm. Some comparisons are performed using other variants of Differential Evolution (DE) and a swarm intelligence optimization algorithm to demonstrate the performance superiority of the new algorithm and new application. It is worth mentioning that in the 52‐bus system of an area of Sichuan Province, the investment cost obtained by the new algorithm is at least one or two orders of magnitude lower than other algorithms.

Bisphenol A (BPA) exposure is known to cause damage to male fertility. Conversely, melatonin (MLT) has been shown to offer protection against reproductive damage by acting as an antioxidant. Exploration into the molecular mechanisms behind how MLT alleviates BPA-induced male fertility damage remains unclear. In this study, adult male mice were divided into four groups of control, BPA exposure (intragastrically, 50 mg/kg/day), MLT treatment (intraperitoneal injection, 10 mg/kg/day) and combined BPA+MLT treatment group for comparative analysis after five weeks of treatment. BPA exposure led to male mice subfertility characterized by poor sperm quality of decreased sperm counts and motility, and reduced pregnancy rate of female mice in in vivo and blastocyst formation in vitro experiments. In BPA exposed mice, germ cell proliferation was impaired, showing a decrease in PCNA expression. BPA exposure also induced a decrease in the expression of antioxidant molecules Cat, Prdx6, and Sod1, and up-regulated BAX expression. These expression changes resulted in increased germ cell apoptosis detected by TUNEL experiments. MLT treatment significantly maintained male mice sperm quality and fertility adversely affected by BPA through modulating the abovementioned responses. Sperm proteomics identified 118 BPA-regulated proteins whose expression was changed by MLT treatment, including 37 down-regulated proteins related to proteolysis activity, the up-regulated proteins were mainly involved in lipid metabolism. Conclusively, BPA exposure impaired male fertility by negatively affecting germ cell proliferation and sperm quality. MLT treatment could alleviate the side effects of BPA by regulating antioxidant molecules, inhibiting germ cell apoptosis, and maintaining male fertility. This study will provide more information for further exploration into the molecular mechanisms of BPA and MLT in male reproduction.

Previous studies suggest that exposure to thiamethoxam (TMX) may cause adverse effects to human. However, the distribution of TMX in various organs of human body and the associated risk are little-known. This study aimed to explore the distribution of TMX in human organs by extrapolation from a toxicokinetic experiment in rats and to assess the associated risk based on literature data. The rat exposure experiment was performed using 6-week female SD rats. Five groups of rats were oral-exposed to 1 mg/kg TMX (water as solvent) and executed at 1 h, 2 h, 4 h, 8 h and 24 h after treatment, respectively. The concentrations of TMX and its metabolites in rat liver, kidney, blood, brain, muscle, uterus and urine were measured in different time points using LC-MS. Data on concentrations of TMX in food, human urine and blood as well as human cell-based in vitro toxicity of TMX were collected from the literature. After oral exposure, TMX and its metabolite clothianidin (CLO) were detected in all organs of the rats. The steady-state tissue-plasma partition coefficients of TMX for liver, kidney, brain, uterus and muscle were 0.96, 1.53, 0.47, 0.60 and 1.10, respectively. Based on literature analysis, the concentration of TMX in human urine and blood for general population were 0.06–0.5 ng/mL and 0.04–0.6 ng/mL, respectively. For some people, the concentration of TMX in human urine reached 222 ng/mL. By extraplation from rat experiment, the estimated concentrations of TMX in human liver, kidney, brain, uterus and muscle for general population were 0.038–0.58, 0.061–0.92, 0.019–0.28, 0.024–0.36 and 0.044–0.66 ng/g, respectively, well below the relevant concentrations for cytotoxic endpoints (HQs ≤ 0.012); however, for some people they could be up to 253.44, 403.92, 124.08, 158.40 and 290.40 ng/g, respectively, with very high developmental toxicity (HQ = 5.4). Therefore, the risk for highly exposed people should not be neglected.
