Iron (Fe) storage in cereal seeds is the principal source of dietary Fe for humans. In maize (Zea mays), the accumulation of Fe in seeds is known to be negatively correlated with crop yield. Hence, it is essential to understand the underlying mechanism, which is crucial for developing and breeding maize cultivars with high yields and high Fe concentrations in the kernels. Here, through the successful application of in vitro kernel culture, we demonstrated that excess Fe supply in the medium caused the kernel to become collapsed and lighter in color, consistent with those found in yellow strip like 2 (ysl2, a small kernel mutant), implicated a crucial role of Fe concentration in kernel development. Indeed, over‐accumulation of Fe in endosperm inhibited the abundance and activity of ADP‐glucose pyrophosphorylase (AGPase) and the kernel development defect was alleviated by overexpression of Briittle 2 (Bt2, encoding a small subunit of AGPase) in ysl2 mutant. Imaging and quantitative analyses of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and cell death showed that Fe stress‐induced ROS burst and severe DNA damage in endosperm cells. In addition, we have successfully identified candidate genes that are associated with iron homeostasis within the kernel, as well as upstream transcription factors that regulate ZmYSL2 by yeast one‐hybrid screening. Collectively, our study will provide insights into the molecular mechanism of Fe accumulation‐regulated seed development and promote the future efficient application of Fe element in corn improvement. Salmonella, a prevalent foodborne pathogen, poses a significant social and economic strain on both food safety and public health. The application of phages in the control of foodborne pathogens represents an emerging research area. In this study, Salmonella pullorum phage vB_SpuM_X5 (phage X5) was isolated from chicken farm sewage samples. The results revealed that phage X5 is a novel Myoviridae phage. Phage X5 has adequate temperature tolerance (28 °C–60 °C), pH stability (4–12), and a broad host range of Salmonella bacteria (87.50% of tested strains). The addition of phage X5 (MOI of 100 and 1000) to milk inoculated with Salmonella reduced the number of Salmonella by 0.72 to 0.93 log10 CFU/mL and 0.66 to 1.06 log10 CFU/mL at 4 °C and 25 °C, respectively. The addition of phage X5 (MOI of 100 and 1000) to chicken breast inoculated with Salmonella reduced bacterial numbers by 1.13 to 2.42 log10 CFU/mL and 0.81 to 1.25 log10 CFU/mL at 4 °C and 25 °C, respectively. Phage X5 has bactericidal activity against Salmonella and can be used as a potential biological bacteriostatic agent to remove mature biofilms of Salmonella or for the prevention and control of Salmonella. This study develops a semi-empirical model of an alkaline water electrolyzer (AWE) based on thermodynamic and electrochemical principles to investigate cell voltage behavior during electrolysis. By importing polarization curve test data under specific operational conditions, eight undefined parameters are precisely fitted, demonstrating the model's high accuracy in describing the voltage characteristics of alkaline electrolyzers. Additionally, an AWE system model is introduced to examine the influence of various operational parameters on system efficiency. This innovative approach not only provides detailed insights into the operational dynamics of AWE systems but also offers a valuable tool for optimizing performance and enhancing efficiency, advancing the understanding and optimization of AWE technologies. Understanding the melting of the deposited layer is crucial for the armature's melting process and sliding electrical contact performance. This study first establishes contact models for both the boundary lubrication state (BLS) and squeezed-film lubrication state (SFLS). A three-dimensional magnetic diffusion model is then constructed to simulate interface current distribution in these contact states. It is discovered that the maximum current density on the surface of the armature shows a decreasing trend as the thickness of the deposited layer grows. Then, a calculation model for the deposited layer's melting thickness under BLS is developed. For SFLS, Reynolds and energy equations are used to construct models for liquid film thickness and the deposited layer's melting thickness. The results indicate that the deposited layer's melting thickness under BLS is significantly greater than that under SFLS. Specifically, the melting thickness decreases with launching displacement in BLS and increases under SFLS. In SFLS, the deposited layer's melting can suppress armature melting, though it remains nearly equivalent to that observed with polished rail. The development of new energy vehicles, particularly electric vehicles, is robust, with the power battery pack being a core component of the battery system, playing a vital role in the vehicle's range and safety. This study takes the battery pack of an electric vehicle as a subject, employing advanced three-dimensional modeling technology to conduct static and dynamic analyses. Through weight reduction and structural optimization, an innovative power battery pack design scheme is proposed, aiming to achieve a more efficient and lighter electric vehicle power system. The main research tasks are as follows: Firstly, we designed the main load-bearing components of a certain electric vehicle's power battery pack and established a three-dimensional (3D) model. Then, the model was simplified according to the actual stress conditions of the power battery pack of the electric vehicle and imported into finite element analysis (FEA) software. Next, based on the fundamental principles of the finite element method (FEM), we conducted static analyses under three conditions: bumpy road sharp left turn, bumpy road sharp right turn, and bumpy road emergency braking. The analysis results indicate that the strength of the battery pack meets the allowable requirements, suggesting that the lower housing design has significant redundancy, providing guidance for subsequent optimization. Finally, through modal analysis, we extracted the first six modes of the power battery box, with the first mode frequency being 33.69 Hz. This suggests that the battery pack may experience resonance during actual operation. Based on the static and modal analysis results, we proposed a structural optimization and lightweight design solution for a certain electric vehicle battery pack and compared it with the pre-optimization data. There are various types of fruits and vegetables that need to be planted on ridges. In order to allow for seedlings with a certain row space and seedling space, the ridge transplanter should be able to track along the ridge. Therefore, an ultrasonic ridge-tracking method and system were developed to let the ridge transplanter track the ridge accurately. The ultrasonic ridge-tracking method mainly contains a limiter sliding window filtering algorithm and a fuzzy look-ahead distance decision model. The limiter sliding window filtering algorithm was proposed to filter the abnormal measuring results to avoid disoperation of the steering mechanism. Moreover, the fuzzy look-ahead distance decision model was proposed to determine the optimal look-ahead distance in order to obtain a desirable tracking performance. Additionally, a comparison experiment of the proposed ultrasonic ridge-tracking method and the universal pure pursuit method was conducted. The experimental results show that the greatest mean absolute errors of the lateral deviations of the ultrasonic ridge-tracking method and universal pure pursuit were 10.56 mm and 13.11 mm. The greatest maximum absolute errors of the lateral deviations of the ultrasonic ridge-tracking method and universal pure pursuit were 18.87 mm and 23.23 mm. In addition, the greatest root mean square error of the lateral deviation of the ultrasonic ridge-tracking method and the universal pure pursuit method were 13.52 mm and 15.66 mm. According to the ridge-tracking performance of the proposed ultrasonic ridge-tracking method, it can be used in practical transplanting conditions. This paper studies the adaptive event-triggered (AET)-based path following control problem for networked autonomous vehicles subject to aperiodic denial-of-service (DoS) attacks. Firstly, considering the strong dependence between scheduling parameters, a polytopic linear parameter varying system is established to represent the nonlinear path following system. Secondly, to save limited communication bandwidth and guarantee a desired path following control performance effectively, a novel AET mechanism with nonmonotonic characteristics is designed, and a compensation strategy is presented to tackle the effect of packet losses caused by DoS attacks on the system. Thirdly, sufficient conditions are developed for the output feedback controller gain matrix and the AET mechanism weighting matrix such that the closed-loop system is guaranteed to be stable and an $H_\infty $ H ∞ performance is satisfied.
