Abstract

Polyploids are typically classified as autopolyploids or allopolyploids based on the origin of their chromosome sets. Autopolyploidy is much more common than traditionally believed. Allopolyploidization, accompanied by genomic and transcriptomic changes, has been well investigated. In this study, genetic, DNA methylation and gene expression changes in autotetraploid Brassica rapa were investigated. No genetic alteration was detected using an amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) approach. Using a cDNA-AFLP approach, approximately 0.58% of fragments showed changes in gene expression in autotetraploid B. rapa. The methylation-sensitive amplification polymorphism (MSAP) analysis showed that approximately 1.7% of the fragments underwent DNA methylation changes upon genome doubling, with hypermethylation and demethylation changes equally affected. Fragments displaying changes in gene expression and methylation status were isolated and then sequenced and characterized, respectively. This study showed that variation in cytosine methylation is a major consequence of genome doubling in autotetraploid Brassica rapa.

Abstract

Theoretical cycle analysis is an indispensable part of the refrigeration system and heat pump (HP) design. However, due to the simplicity of the calculations and numerous assumptions, there is a deviation from the actual behavior of the system. In this paper, a single-stage, reversible CO2 system, which can operate in both air-conditioning and heating mode, with and without an internal heat exchanger (IHX), was presented. In the heating mode, the deviation of the theoretical cycle from the actual cycle of the heat pump was analyzed, under various operating conditions. Actual cycles were formed based on the experimental investigation of this system. The changes of various parameters and deviations that are made due to a simpler calculation are presented.

221. THE EFFECT OF INTERNAL HEAT EXCHANGER IN A REVERSIBLE CO2 SYSTEM UNDER VARIOUS OPERATING CONDITIONS

Abstract

The use of an internal heat exchanger (IHX) as a cycle improvement measure is very common with CO2 systems. However, a simple thermodynamic analysis is not able to fully indicate the advantages of IHX in a single-stage system. For this reason, in this paper, the effect of the internal heat exchanger on the reversible CO2 system, which can work in both air-conditioning and heating mode, was experimentally investigated. Experiments were performed under various conditions for both operating modes, with and without an internal heat exchanger. The results of the experiments showed that in the heating mode (heat pump) the coefficient of performance (COP) can be increased up to 10,5% by introducing the internal heat exchanger, while in the air-conditioning mode, the COP can be increased up to 13,8%. Also, it has been shown that this improvement provides safer system operation and less frost formation on the evaporator.

225. Privacy-Preserving Distributed Transfer Learning and Its Application in Intelligent Transportation

Abstract

With the rapid development of intelligent transportation systems (ITS), more and more intelligent applications for ITS have received widespread attention, such as the vehicle detection, inference of typical routes, and traffic forecasting. In these applications, deep learning is widely used as a key artificial intelligence technology. However, most ITS providers fail to collect enough labeled traffic data for model training. As a complement to deep learning, transfer learning is an effective way to solve the scarcity of labeled data, which can transfer knowledge from labeled datasets to unlabeled datasets, thus improving the accuracy of prediction and classification. Nevertheless, when the labeled dataset and the unlabeled dataset are held by different entities, it is still unrealistic for two mutually distrustful entities to cooperate in transfer learning regarding data security and privacy preservation. Although some existing works provide privacy-preserving transfer learning methods, such methods fail to apply to traffic data with high sample dimensions due to their high computational cost and round complexity. To address this problem, we design an efficient privacy-preserving distributed transfer learning protocol, which is appropriate for traffic data. Compared to existing works, our protocol addresses the privacy-preserving problem of transfer learning for traffic data with high sample dimensions. In addition, our protocol has fewer interaction rounds and can be proved in the semi-honest model. Finally, we validate the effectiveness, efficiency and security of the proposed protocol via experiments. Furthermore, we show the application of the proposed protocol in intelligent transportation systems.
